Review Lune Croissanterie - Fitzroy

Amrit Kleingeld
Great day today! Managed to park right outside and pop in here for a plate of delicious croissants! The lemon curd and the almond were amazing. Free self serve very well chilled still or sparkling water. Coffees could be better. Good timing too at 1030. Huge queue after we sat down. Staff member Ben was charming and helpful.

Cool place for some croissants fix. Large space, modern industrial designed restaurant with open kitchen. Best to be here early to avoid long queue! Beautiful layering seem in their croissants. Photo attached. Recommended.

Pastry is very nice top class and better than hotel standard as the pastry is baked fresh. Best to come early, make pre-orders to avoid disappointments. We only manage to try original, ham and cheese and cinnamon. They quickly run out of their menu selections as fresh batches run out so fast! Best to arrive before 8 or after 11 (this was on a weekday though)

Lune has the best butter taste in their croissants as always, but the overall quality of the pastry seems to be deteriorating every time. The first photo is a croissant from this morning and the second and third photo are from few months back. I am not a professional baker but today it seems to be under developed in some way to me, perhaps under proved or too high temperature causing it almost become a brioche instead of a laminated pastry. The crumbs and the honeycomb structure are missing, and lacking the right texture of a good croissant. I used to come here everyday but Lune is definitely not as good as before, its overrated for an average quality croissant. Very disappointed experience today.

Well if you have never had your mind blown using a croissant, do yourself a favor and visit Lune. Absolute stunning presentation, interior design and quality of the food. I cannot rememeber the coffee quality as all my brain cells were busy calibrating to the taste of pastry and all my taste buds were astonished by the food. Well worth the wait in the queue.

Wow! Well deserved title for World’s best croissant! Coffee there is also very good. If you can go to the Fitzroy branch do that- the architecture and the cafe experience is worth heading over there.

Need no say more, their pastry, croissants, cruffins and coffees are just exceptional. Their monthly specials are always attractive and as good as their regular items. It is always difficult to pick my favourite.

There is no doubt that the reputation of an establishment can have an impact on expectations, quality of service, and quality of goods sold. Upon arriving we were greeted with an 18 minute wait in the line just to order - an ode to this establishment’s popularity. The Lemon Curd was good, but not great. The texture left a lot to be desired and the flavour profile presented itself as more of a mediator if anything at all. 7/10 The Pain Au Chocolat, however, was excellent. The croissant was consistently textured and the flavour of the pastry was a definitive highlight. The pastries definitely shine in comparison to other baked goods. 9/10 If going to Lune, the croissants are a definitive order. However, be aware of the waiting times and consider if it is worth the wait. Also be aware this establishment only accepts cashless payment options.

I've been here a few times as I love their croissants so much especially the Almond croissant. However you have to get in there at the right time as lines can get crazy long!! Love the industrial feel inside the shop, and always amazes how they make it. It literally is about the science of crunch! Would seriously compare the crunch and quality of croissants are similar to those I tasted in France! Impressive!

Great news for Lune fans like me because Lune is now delivering viennoiserie to selected suburbs on a rotating basis during this lockdown! Receiving a box of Lune viennoiserie is more exciting than receiving a pot of gold😂<br/><br/>I ordered the:<br/>Ham & gruyere croissant<br/>Pain au Chocolat<br/>Lemon curd cruffin<br/>Kaya cruffin<br/>Almond crossaint<br/><br/>All of them were beautiful, flaky and crunchy. The ham & gruyere was cheesy and savoury. The lemon curd cruffin had beautiful crunchy layers on the outside and was buttery ans pillowy soft on the inside. I loved the lemon curd and wanted more! The kaya cruffin was on special and it was also amazing. The kaya was smooth and aromatic though I wanted more of a pandan flavour. The pain au chocolat was crunchy and had lovely dark bitter notes of chocolate in it and the almond crossaint was possibly the most almondey crossaint I have ever had in my life. Can’t wait for them to deliver to my suburb again!

Overall rating: 5<br/><br/>I have no doubts for their title for the best bakery in all of Melbourne. You will never see such flakiness on a croissant or pastry anywhere but at Lune Croissanterie. They serve a beautiful array of high quality baked pastry. There is no way one can turn away from the aroma of freshly baked goods here. <br/><br/>Definitely recommend to grab 2 croissants, 1 sweet, 1 savoury, with a cup of coffee - you can thank me later. Despite the hefty price of $6 for a croissant, you have to try it before you can justify. <br/><br/>I always come here for the TWICE baked Almond Croissant and Traditional Croissant. It tastes as appealing as it looks. If you are looking for a rollercoaster of flavour and texture, the Almond Croissant ticks all the boxes. It is crumbly, buttery and filled with almond butter. <br/><br/>After trying the Ham & Gruyere Croissant, you'd never want to go back to a regular ham and cheese toast. Definitely recommend if you're going for something savoury. <br/><br/>I ordered a Blueberry Custard Cruffin that is no longer on their menu but I still reminisce about. The not too sweet custard melts in your mouth, contrasted by the buttery flaky crispy pastry, finished off with the burst of blueberry. The cream inside of the shell of pastry was like opening a treasure box. <br/><br/>Food: 5<br/>Value: 4.5<br/>Ambience: 5<br/>Service: 4.5

Ordered croissants from Lune 3 times now and it never disappoints! Despite the hefty price tag of over $10 for a croissant, the quality in how much filling there is and in the actual croissant itself makes it worthwhile. I’ve tried the almond, apple and mocha croissant which have all been amazing and I would definitely re-order. The only disappointment I’ve had is the limited kaya cruffin which just didn’t appeal to me as a pastry and the filling lacked depth in kaya flavour. Overall an amazing place for croissants, a must try!

There’s a reason why Lune is rated so highly. These are the best croissants I’ve ever had - I can’t look at supermarket croissants the same way ever again! I tried the famous twice baked almond croissant and the pumpkin and feta escargot. The escargot was light but packed full of flavour. It wasn’t as pumpkin-y as I thought it would be, which is how I preferred it anyway! Whilst it was delicious, it didn’t compare to the almond croissant. Incredibly crispy, buttery and filled with almond butter, it was so delicious I didn’t want to finish it. We wished there was a place to sit and enjoy the croissants but unfortunately due to COVID-19 safety practices this wasn’t possible. I’ll definitely be back after this blows over so that I can sit and immerse myself in the experience Lune offers. If you’re contemplating coming here but you’re sceptical about the prices vs quality, I can assure you: you get what you pay for.

Once you go here, you’ll never want a croissant from from anywhere else! Hands down the best croissants in Melbourne. Perfectly baked so that the pastry is crispy on top but buttery and soft in the middle. <br/>Secret tip: go early, before it gets busy so you don’t miss out!

Hands down best crossionts in Melbourne cannot be beaten. So initially I tired the choc chip one on my first visit which was amazing if your after a chocolate fix it is amazing and so rich in flavour. I then went back on my second visit and had the macadamia which I loved and was very unique as I've never had a macadamia one and lastly today I had to go back to get the almond one which was also amazing. The flour and technique used is so many layers and perfectly crisp with amazing filling. So my favorite is the macadamia but honestly all are sssssooooo good. Oh and might i add i also llllloooovvvveeedddd the jam and cream (in photo) that was sensational and very nice surprise in the middle with the jam and cream. Perfect amount of filling and crisp on outside. Absolutely delicious!!!

Joined the queue today early enough to secure a lemon curd cruffin from Lune. We’ve been a little later in the day and found it seems to sell out quite quickly so glad we got up for our morning walk. Without a doubt our favourite place for pastry. They serve Mörk hot chocolate which works so well with oat milk and their plain croissant is another goodie.
Trent.bell89
Lune sells to online as a priority and let’s people wait for an hour before telling them “we’ve sold to online only for the next two days, try again, maybe later”. Bad service for a $10 croissant.
Riska.w122
the croissant itself was AMAZING. i ate one flake that fell off before i tasted anything else and it was really buttery and yum. the ham and gruyere itself though, was a little underwhelming (the cheese and ham inside could be better). however, the chocolate pistachio croissant was to die for!!
Burgers Of Melbourne
These croissants are to die for, with so many flavours to choose from.<br/>The only problem is, you have to get there early or you have to line up to get a croissant.<br/>All I can say is YUMMY.
Steph
Best croissant in Melbourne 🥐 <br/><br/>Absolutely love all their croissant, my fav is the almond croissant ($8). Was recommended the ham & gruyere but it wasn’t towards my liking. While a plain croissant costs $6.

This is much bigger branch than the one in CBD.<br/>As usual, the croissant is splendid. Love cafe that gives out free drinking water. So we keep ourselves hydrated ♥️
Milo_wendy
Lune is known for its crossaints and hour long queues. They offer a small range of crossaints and pastries until sold out. The drinks menu is also limited. There are 2 locations: Melbourne CBD and Fitzroy. We went to the Fitzroy location and there is minimal seating available.<br/><br/>I've always wanted to try the crossaints here even though I don't eat crossaints as it has been recommended to me to try.<br/><br/>We went to the Fitzroy location as we didn't want to go into the CBD due to the bad traffic and it's always hard to find parking.<br/><br/>The shop was in a weird location but people were slowly pouring in to try the infamous crossaint. We found off street parking easily as we came relatively early. I was expecting a long queue but we just walked right to the front counter. It felt like we stepped into an empty warehouse. Everything was minimal. The range of pastries was minimal, the drinks menu was very limited and so was the seating. I'm quite sure they expect a constant flow of customers, they should really reconsider the seating arrangements and add more seating options. I personally don't like sitting on low concrete benches and eating off low cube tables. I did however like the set up of the kitchen as you can watch the pastry chefs prepare the pastries behind glass windows.<br/><br/>I was not happy with the drinks menu as I don't drink coffee, they could have at least served cold drinks. I just ordered the hot chocolate for the kids to share. We pretty much ordered one of everything. We ordered the Traditional, Carrot Cake, Lemon Curd, Pain au chocolate, Kouign Amann, Almond Hedgehog, Babka Chocolate Loaf.<br/><br/>The hot chocolate was yummy. The chocolate used was of good quality. It was creamy, just right in sweetness and it did not taste bitter. I enjoyed it very much, so did the kids.<br/><br/>My favourite were the Traditional, Kouign Amann, and Lemon Curd.<br/><br/>The Traditional crossaint was super flaky on the outside and buttery soft on the inside. It was a bit hard to eat as with every bite, your flaky exterior would leave a trail of crumbs everywhere but it was so good. I don't eat crossaints but now, I'm converted.<br/><br/>The Kouign Amann tasted and looked like a palmier. it was crispy, flaky, and sticky sweet. It got a bit sweet after a few bites, but definitely very moreish.<br/><br/>The Lemon Curd was a cruffin. It was nice and soft on the inside with a smooth and tangy lemon curd. The sugar dusting on top balanced out the sourness from the lemon curd.<br/><br/>My least favourite was the Carrot Cake. I like carrot cake but it definitely did not belong in a crossaint. It had a layer of cake on the bottom with cream cheese piping with crushed walnuts on top. It tasted weird. I could not stomach it. The cream cheese icing was nice as it wasn't very sweet.<br/><br/>The Pain au chocolate was flaky on the outside, soft on the inside but it didn't have enough chocolate. I personally don't like dark chocolate but my kids devoured it.<br/><br/>The Babka Chocolate Loaf was okay. Another pastry laced with dark chocolate.<br/><br/>The Almond Hedgehog was flaky and soft on the inside. I personally did not like the flavours and I'm not a fan of almonds but my husband wanted to try it.<br/><br/>Verdict: Definitely try the Traditional, Kouign Amann, and Lemon Curd. The hot chocolate was also yummy.

This place is a piece of heaven! We loved every mouthful and could have just kept going back for more! Wow wow wow! We will definitely be back for another visit!

Got the original croissant. Most flakiest pastry I have ever tasted

If you are anywhere in the vicinity of Melbourne and appreciate the artistry of a good croissant, then Lune Lab is a must visit. From the same people who make the fabulous pastries at Lune Croissanterie, Lune Lab is a foray even further into what can be done with a croissant. While they have changing twice-baked croissant, savoury croissant, and cruffin specials, Lune Lab does more.

Ordered the Almond Croissant and Kouign Amann. They both were tasted good. It might be better if they were still fresh from the oven (I went there around 12PM). A bit too overrated and definitely too pricey.
Jaja See
Ordered the au chocolat croissant and was not disappointed! I would definitely line up for 10mins again for those lol.<br/><br/>It would be better if they can get a bigger space because obviously a lot of people would like to enjoy their croissants inside.<br/><br/>I won't order double white coffee again though since when I tried it, it tasted a bit like medicine. Yuck

We got a selection of croissants for takeaway, and everything was frankly incredible. The kouign amann and the ham and gruyere ones were the highlights. My mouth is watering just thinking about them

This is really the best croissant I’ve ever had! I went there at around 12pm and as expected 8 flavours were gone; but even the almond flavoured one was amazing! If you’re visiting melb or whatever this is the place you have to visit!!!

I've been wanting to try Lune for years, but was always told I had to get there at 8am or they all run out.<br/><br/>Coincidentally, I walked past it in the afternoon and thought I would give it a shot. To my surprise, they had all varieties available, and boy were there a lot of options.<br/><br/>The ambience was buzzing and there was always a queue. I ordered the original croissant and the chocolate croissant.<br/><br/>It was beautiful and flaky on the outside and buttery on the inside. I can definitely say I haven't had a croissant like this before.<br/>The only drawback was with the price I wouldn't constantly go every week but otherwise I'm so glad in finally got to try Lune!

The best croissants I’ve had so far! The croissants are so crisp and delicious! And the almond croissant is always a great choice! I enjoy going to this one more compared to the CBD store, but both still amazing!

My friend and I have been to the Fitzroy store twice and we will definitely go more times. Danish is the most recommended one! My friend and I both love the croissant mixed with fruits. It is not very sweet just fit to me. Every time we had a ham croissant which is slaty flavor and also worth having a bite! The blueberry one is cute and these are fillings in it. Next I want to try danish with apricot and also chocolate one.

Known to have the world’s best croissants - there’s no doubt the croissants here are a must try when you’re in Melbourne. There’s always lines out the door on the weekend, so you have to wake up really early if you even want a chance to try some of their more exclusive flavours.<br/><br/>But if you’re a big fan of croissants, I’d highly highly recommend you to give Lune Lab a try. They only run a few sessions every weekend, and you have to buy tickets in advance (on the day they release) to score yourself a seat. It’s a croissant degustation - 3 courses (plain croissant to start, a savoury course, and a sweet course) - accompanied with free flowing batch brew and mork hot chocolate. The courses are so creative, and it’s absolutely delicious! <br/><br/>It’s truly an experience!

REVIEW OF LUNE CROISSANTS: if you are reading this to find out what to order at Lunes, my favourites are the ham and gruyere cheese, pain au chocolat and lemon curd. Everything is best eaten warm (I fell like I should reiterate this often!) for you to understand why there’s a queue since 7am for this place 🤩<br/><br/>REVIEW OF #LUNELAB: Let me just say upfront the cost of $65pp is equivalent to buying 6 croissants from the store - which you would still enjoy! What Lune Lab offers is:<br/>1. 3 courses of freshly baked pastries - a normal croissant, a savoury one and a dessert croissant. The second and third courses are not something you can buy at the storefront<br/>2. Unlimited coffee and hot chocolate. Won’t recommend you to go beyond 3 cups of drinks or you would be too full for the highlight of the meals (the dessert <br/>3. The chance to watch pastry masters in action. The prime seating next to the infamous cube gives you the opportunity to watch croissants carefully measured and made. The amount of care and precision put into every croissant makes you appreciate this place even more. <br/>4. They allow you to purchase croissants for takeaway without queueing. If you have been to Lunes on a weekend, you would value this option. <br/>5. As for the flavour and taste of each course, my favourites was the classic croissant. It was just the perfect buttery croissant, which was freshly cooked precisely for 11 minutes and so buttery / fluffy inside and crispy outside. The savoury course I had (Lunes version of the classic French Tarte Tatin) wins on flavour, but I was hoping for some meat within the croissant (heard that they made a fish pie as their second course in previous iterations so it’s your luck really). <br/><br/>So is lune lab worth it? If you have been a lifelong fan of lune and are willing to splash some cash for an occasion, it’s worth going. But don’t be too upset if you couldn’t secure seats - their regular freshly baked croissants are not far behind on the flavour and taste scale.

Best croissant I’ve had -ever! Must try, didn’t know a croissant can be so good.

It is a bit far from the city but it is worth the trip as you can see the kitchen in the middle of the building with the chefs making all the delectable pastries.<br/>The counter is on one side of the building, you can tell as there is a line of pastries running across it. This is the menu. After ordering you can grab a seat lining the edge of the building. Be aware that they are a card only place.<br/>The croissants were crispy and tasty. I had the almond and the pan de coco and both were really delicious. I preferred the pan de coco with the coconut flavours. I had just missed out on the caramel popcorn croissant.<br/>Definitely a nice place to return and try croissants and other pastries.

No diet during birthday week. Finally got to try the amazing Lune. Had the Vegemite and Cheese croissant which was warm and freakin delish, followed by the Signature Almond croissant that lived up to its hype. Arrived at 8.15am in a Sunday and only had to wait 15mins (expected to be longer so winning!)
Ellen
Try and go on a week day before 10am! I heard you need to line up at ungodly hours of the morning to line up, which might be true on weekends, but I went on a Monday and arrived at around 9:45am and only had to wait a max of 15 mins. <br/><br/>Seating is limited but people move through pretty quick. Service is wonderful! Staff were helpful and patient. <br/><br/>Coffee is good, and the croissants.. EVEN BETTER! Not going to lie the traditional croissant wasn’t the best I’ve had, but their ‘creations’.. oh boy they are something else! <br/><br/>We got: <br/>- Almond - a crowd fav <br/>- Chocolate <br/>- Traditional <br/>- Apple pie - not too bad <br/>- Ruben - MUST GET! Superrrr tasty and perfect to break up all the sweetness <br/>- Smoked chocolate cruffin - Definitely get one of the cruffins, the smoked chocolate was beautiful <br/>- Kouign Amann - MUST GET! Absolutely beautiful pastry <br/><br/>So obviously, try and go with a group to be able to try all that is on offer! <br/>

We got a plain croissant and an almond croissant. They were good, but I don't feel like they were worth their price and the wait time. Personally I found the plain croissant a little dry - the crunchiness/flakiness was too much for me; perhaps it would have been better warm. The minimalistic space in a warehouse is peak hipster Melbourne - very aesthetic but not very practical. It definitely was cool to watch croissants being made in the display room though.
FoodieInMel
Beautiful place, always long que, very busy place, the croissants were good, but was not as good as we expected, the size were bit small and bit overpriced compas to other places. Nice experience tho.<br/>

Rated as the world's best croissants, I have been itching to try these famous pastries, and with my recent visit, I wasn't disappointed. In fact, my experience well and truly lived up to the hype, and I would agree that they really are that good.<br/><br/>The warehouse location in Fitzroy is a modern, urban haven with it's open concrete space with a central area for you to watch the bakers at work. Such a fantastic spectacle, I could have watched for hours as they rolled and filled the beautiful dough. A single display table houses the available pastries, and we picked the black forest croissant and a banoffee cruffin. At $15 for the croissant, it was certainly the most I've ever spent on a single croissant, but this work of art was worth every penny. Service was friendly and quick, and we were fortunate enough to avoid any long queues, as we have heard they can be extremely busy. The place was still very busy, but we were able to find a small table to enjoy our coffees and pastries.<br/><br/>It didn't take long for everything to arrive. The coffee was great, but the croissants are king here. Flaky, buttery layers of delicate pastry were so delicious and worth every calorie. The black forest croissant had layers of cookie crumb, chocolate mousse, cherry jam, cream and macerated cherries and tempered chocolate shards. Absolutely divine. So rich and decadent, it really was a meal in itself. The cruffin was also amazing, with it's dulce de leche and banana filling. The perfect amount of sweetness without being too much. I love that there is an ever changing roster of flavours so I'm tempted to return again. This won't be a problem though; as now that I have experienced the wonders at Lune, just try keeping me away!
Rina
Very popular place with probably some of the best croissants I've had. The seats where completely full and we had to get takeaway and eat it nearby. The croissants are super crispy and delicious without being overly sweet. Would definitely come back and try more flavours.

Traditional croissant ($5.90) ⭐️ 5/5 ⭐️<br/>Blackforest cruffin ($8) ⭐️ 4/5 ⭐️<br/>🍴Back to eat more of the supposed #worldbestcroissant and I do believe that the #traditionalcroissant from #lune does hold true of its fame if you enjoy the crispy kind. It’s flaky crispness is like no other and it has a light airiness while retaining buttery flavour. The #blackforestcruffin was still delicious but more average in comparison to the star croissant. Despite the yummy chocolate-berry filling, the cruffin could be more airy and less heavy<br/>⚠️ Compared to the CBD branch, I would recommend the Fitzroy outlet that has less crowd and a large space (including seating space)<br/>📍@lunecroissant, 119 Rose Street, Fitzroy, Melbourne, Victoria<br/>#cafehoppingkidsmelbourne #cafehoppingfitzroy

There's so much hype around Lune. Whether they have the best croissants or not, who knows. But it's exceptionally good. Their service is great as well, and you can tell, the staff know what they're doing. And it's also a nice touch that they have those infra red heaters where you line up. So worth the visit, even if it's once.
James
It's a fancy warehouse in Fitzroy, full of wealthy Millenials that serve a few things: croissants, sweet croissants and cronuts. Not something for every day. But they're super super tasty. Croissant pastry is crunchy and wafery. The lemon curd cronut is to die for. Yes, it's pricey but still cheaper than going to France!
FoodieQueen21
Lune definitely offers some of the best croissants i’ve ever tasted! I tried their caramel, apple pie, plain chocolate and black forest croissants, they’re all packed with flavors!<br/>Although each croissant is a bit pricey, I say it is worth every penny spent 😋<br/>I can’t wait to be back when they have other new flavors 😍 (or just to have more of the plain chocolate croissants 😝)

One of Melbourne's finest, their croissants are amazing. Plain croissants are the best, did tried almond as well which was little heavy but good.<br/>This place has waiting over the weekends so be prepared to wait and you might miss out on croissants if you are late to arrive.<br/>

I love Lune! Even after all this time, Lune still produces high quality delicious pastries albeit at a high price. But having said that, their products are worth every cent!<br/><br/>I counted myself super lucky that there was no queue when I visited on a Tuesday afternoon. I purchased (card only, no cash) the apple pie croissant as well as the lychee rose cruffin. Both were amaze balls! Even though I had it later in the evening, they both still tasted fresh and delicious. Those layers of pastry made me so happy. The tiny Turkish delight jellies on the rose lychee cruffin was a genius idea! <br/><br/>I can't get enough of Lune!<br/><br/>Previously:<br/><br/>So there are lots of over rated and over hyped places around Melbourne....but Lune ain't one of them. I walked into their store a skeptic, but walked out a Lune convert. <br/>I managed to find their obscure, almost hidden warehouse bakery on a weekday afternoon. I was delighted to see that the queue was not as overwhelming as most people seem to describe. There were 3 staff members manning the counter. Service was quick and friendly. <br/>I went for the pecan pie croissant and oh my.....it was the best pastry I have ever consumed!<br/>Those crispy layers of buttery goodness surrounded a delicious pecan paste and everything was topped by fresh crunchy pecans. It was a bit pricey but for this level of quality, I'm not complaining. <br/>See you again soon Lune!

Calling all the croissant lovers out there!! This almond croissant is seriously the best croissant I've ever had! The flavour is so buttery with a hint of sweetness from the jam. It wasn't overall sweet and the croissant was topped with almond flakes which give it a nice crunch as well. Would definitely go back to try out some other flavours too!<br/><br/>follow my ig for more deliciousness!<br/>ig: vienne_iu

Delicious Almond Crossiant<br/><br/>On Sunday, I have decided to give it a try because my colleague highly recommended this place before. There was a long queue and I have waited 40mins in the queue, pay and take away which was acceptable because it is Sunday. But even weekdays, you need to wait for 30mins! I was not disappointed by the reviews in Zomato. I bought the plain, apple pie and almond crossiants. I would highly recommended to buy the almond crossiant because the plain one is just too normal where you could get it in elsewhere! I would not recommend you to buy hot chocolate there because it taste bad!
Marco
Worth the wait!! The kouign amann was exceptional and our favourite! The cardaomom twist was also lovely, with the cinnamon flavour at the perfect level. The Black Forest was my least favourite but I’m certain some individuals out there like it. Overall, a great experience!

Lune is so so popular in Melbourne, that's why I had to wait for twenty minutes for this piece.<br/>Service is great though it is crowded. <br/>It doesn't take long time for a seat.<br/>The taste of croissant is fantastic but weight too heavy for me, so always good to go with black coffee to balance the rich flavor. <br/>I ate another plain croissant the next day, but it was still crispy. Generally, I will come next time if I have time for the long queue.

Food 5/5<br/>Environment 5/5<br/>Service 4/5<br/><br/>The best croissant in Mel. Buying one with a cup of coffee could give you full energy all day. This time I tried the seasonal limit, which called a black forest. This one is amazing! Trust , the best croissant I ever have. Strongly recommend that put it in the normal menu.<br/>But the coffee just is a normal level. Can be improved in the future.<br/>

Lune makes one of the best croissants. Loved the apple pie and almond flavored ones. Had to line up on a weekday afternoon but it wasn’t a long wait (about 15 mins). There is a minimum order of 6 for takeaway orders which I found abit imposing. Good croissant with a pricey price tag, worth a treat once in a while.
Talia
Just delicious fresh and decadent croissants to choose from.<br/>Not much seating if you wanted to eat in, so we opted to take away and eat elsewhere.<br/>The waiting in line was worth it, the coffee to accompany it was not as good i got to say, but then again we were after the croissants not the coffee!
Quince And Cheese
I now finally understand why Lune pulls such massive queues. For $15.50, their Black Forest croissant was extremely pricy (I can get a brunch dish for about that price) but decadent and intricate enough to almost make it feel worth it. The combo was rich but not too sweet, chock full of cookie crumbles (an interesting addition) and topped with candied cherries. The space is large and pleasant for dining in, if you can ignore the cold hard seats. Otherwise, take your croissant away in a box perfectly created for it not to get squished.
Isabel
Went on a weekday morning so we managed to skip the queues and enjoy our food in their beautiful warehouse-style store. Had the pain au chocolat and kouign amann, paired with a flat white. Coffee was good, the pain au chocolat was good but not great. The kouign amann was my favourite, it wasn't too sweet and the serving size was just right. We also got the ham and gruyere to go, also one of my favourites. Perfect pairing of ham and cheese, would highly recommend!

I came here with my Sydney friends for the weekend. We were in the queue 20 minutes before they opened on a weekday. We were surprised to find that we weren't even first in line! Our friends from Melbourne had suggested for us to try the famous croissants and so we did. My favourite was the almond one. It was light, crispy and the almond toasted just right. Unfortunately, we tried the fig one and the flavours were way too overpowering.

BE PREPARED TO WAIT IN LINE BUT ALSO BE PREPARED TO HAVE TOUR MIND BLOWN BY THIS FRESHLY BAKED CROISSANTS🙈🙈<br/>I’ve tried all the croissants here except for the Black Forest and they’re all heavenly. Me and my boyfriend love savoury food a lot so ham and cheese is defs our favourite. The Swiss cheese just melts in your mouth and the saltiness from the ham is the perfect combination for the flaky sweet pastry.<br/>I’ve been here multiple times and I still don’t mind waiting in the line to get this deliciously crunchy shards of buttery pastry and wide range of choices for your taste.

Really flaky and really delicious Croissants. I think almond is definitely one of the best classics as the filling is so mouth watering as well. I also tried the Black Forest and the cherry and chocolate elements were also really tasty

Lune is probably one of the world's finest Croissants making Bakery in the world. The only other best we have had were in Paris.<br/><br/>This time we managed to be here pretty early (read 10.00am) and it still took us 20 odd minutes to be able to place our orders. Yet, their few famous were already sold out. Still.managed to get our hands on the Original, Almond, Black Forest, Lemon Curd and Jam and Cream. Of course not, we would never be able to eat them all in a single day but Omg! perfectly flaky, crisp and moist. The fillings are generous and quite flavorful.<br/><br/>All of them, and we mean it, ALL OF THEM WERE AMAZING.<br/><br/>Worth the wait, time and money. Hospitality is topnotch.<br/><br/>Earlier Rating 4/5<br/><br/>By the time we reached here, everything was over (close to 2.35pm)....So had no other option but to have croissants which were the only thing available (and being made)<br/><br/>They were Excellent!!<br/><br/>Hope to comedown little early and try what they are also known for.

There are a few varieties that they do, all are great.<br/>The best of them for me is the twice baked almond.<br/>But,<br/>The classic plain croissant is something of a divine nature, that crisp, flaky exterior and the buttery, rich interior.. oh good lord! it is an experience.<br/><br/>The only thing that can make me not want to go there is the ordeal of waiting in the queue but I can't hold it against them, thats the price of being the best.

Definitely one of the best croissant to try in Melbourne! Every layer is like heaven and light. I didn’t really like the one in the city though..not as good as the one in Fitzroy. If you are going..go to the one in Fitzroy.

The Fitzroy store is aesthetically gorgeous, glass, stone, high warehouse roof, simple and functional use of space, to reiterate, lots of space. They have a glass-surrounded patisserie workshop as a centre spectacle. Here you can witness what appears to be a very professional team of chefs preparing and endless stream of pastries. Down to the pastries themselves! The plain croissant, one of the better I’ve had. The chocolate had little filling but what was there was quite rich and worked well. The ham and cheese wasn’t anything to write home about and the almond, although presented beautifully was pushing my sweet boundaries to their limits! Still, some good pastries. The Batch Brew Coffee was a very pleasant surprise, beautifully prepared.

The absolute best was saved for last with a beautifully plated, sensationally tasty lattice apple pie served with croissant ice cream. The croissant lattice packed great buttery crunch, giving way to a blend of tender stewed apples and brown butter+hazelnut cake base underneath - the perfect winter comfort dessert. But the house-churned croissant ice cream, infused overnight with croissant, also commanded equally high praise - super creamy and the croissant flavour was nailed perfectly.

Delicious, yummm, delicious!! These are the best traditional french crossaints I have ever had. You really do get what you pay for.<br/><br/>Along with the lemon curd cruffin, cardiman twist, almond twice baked, choc chip cookies and the rhubarb danish were all so amazing.<br/>Went during a school day in the morning and there was no line and lots of choice for pastries too.

OMG OMG OMG this was amazing and well worth the wait to get them, the absolutely mouth watering smell of Butter in the air as you approach for the first time just fills your nostrils and has you salivating before you've even got to the back of the line and once inside just to order my tastebuds we going ballistic.

Waited an hour in line and just managed to get one of the last ones. Only the almond and original were available. Original was really light and fluffy. The almond crossiant was really good but kinda too much in the end.

<br/>We ordered the plain Croissant, Pain Au Chocolate, Kouign Amann, Ham Gruyere, Cardamom Twist, Jam and Cream Cruffin, Chocolate Chip Cookie Croissant, Banoffee Pie Cruffin and the Twice Baked Almond (my favorite).<br/><br/>Everything we ordered was good but the chocolate chip cookie, Banoffee Pie Cruffin and the Ham Gruyere stood out for me. My all time fave is the Twice baked Almond Croissant. <br/><br/>My mum even commented that the pastries are very nice. She isn’t much of a fan of pastries or sweets.<br/><br/>If you were to try only one, it should be the twice baked almond. It’s not too sweet. It had crispy, baked almonds on top, it was buttery and flaky with a beautiful filling (without the excess grease on your fingers). <br/><br/>It should also be noted that the pastries were still delicious even when cold. <br/><br/>We came in at 8 AM on a Monday morning with 3 people in line, in front of us. Best to come in as early as possible, as Lune is also known for its legendary long queues.<br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>

Best croissants in town! Crispy and great to have for breakfast or anytime during the day!<br/>Only downside is, there is always a really long line and by the time you reach to the counter some things may be sold out. Highly recommend this Lune to anyone who wants to try the perfect croissant!

Incredible. Set yourself some free time and adopt a patient attitude as the queues can be intimidating. Unlike some establishments that force patrons to queue unnecessarily, the hype around Lune is genuine.<br/><br/>Their croissants are beyond explanation. Light, buttery and with a crispness that won't disappoint.
Dine And Dash
Came here to try one of their Twice Baked croissants however they, unfortunately, were sold out by the time I arrived. Instead I opted for the Traditional croissant and a hot chocolate. The croissant was delicious, very crunchy and fresh. The hot chocolate was also very yummy.<br/><br/>We waited for around 20 minutes in line which was annoying but I still enjoyed my experience here.

Average croissants. I waited in line for 30 mins and felt like an idiot paying $40 for four types of croissant. I just went because of Masterchef and wanting to see what the fuss is about.<br/><br/>The quality is no better than what you can find at a decent patisserie, such as Noisette at Prahran market, Agathe Patisserie at Sth Melb market, or any similar good quality patisserie. The croissants also tasted too bread-y for me, with not enough butter or flakiness. Totally average.<br/><br/>The black forest croissant was also remarkably flavourless. It was too heavy with the cream and artificial cherry, while being too skimpy with the chocolate. It tasted like the heavy Acland Street type of European cakes that are not particularly tasty, just fatty and over-sweet.<br/><br/>This is an Emperor&amp;#039;s New Clothes fad that I predict will fade away with time.
