Great place! Spent the afternoon eating and drinking, all food was great, and just love the wine range- wine not overly cheap but an impressive range. Staff friendly, food fresh and just an overall great place. Favourite dish was the trout!
Enjoyed going here for dinner, sat out the back with our dog. Service was very friendly. They let bf taste some wines and advised on the wines too. They should've said though that the wine he took was A$20 per glass, as that's a lot of money for a glass of wine and it would be better to know in advance, instead of being surprised by it on the bill at the end. Lots of love for our doggy which is always appreciated. We had the eel pate, which was awesome. The pie was not so good, so wouldn't recommend that. Vitello Tonato and Chicken (free range) were really nice. Food was yum. We'll definitely be back!

Came here for lunch with a group of friends from work. There is a lovely large table at the back that comfortably sat 7 of us. It is a very small place with little seating area.
The food is very delicious and the service is good. However, the serving sizes are very small and many of us left peckish. The food is also fairly pricey considering the portion of the dishes.
Most of us opted for the goats cheese and spinach tart ($15.50) which varied in serving sizes despite all of us paying the same amount.
The baguette ($12.50) looked good and was decently sized compared to the other dishes. It was also better value for money.
For this price there are many other places close by for lunch that is much better value for money.
It is really a shame that the portions aren't bigger as the food is very nice.
Lots to admire here. Very nice spot. Superb selection of wines. Very good experienced staff. Very nice food. It is small and often crowded though in my experience. Some say that adds to the intimacy so enjoyment perhaps depends on one's mood. Not at all cheap but what you get is serious quality. There are some seriously good wines available here.
Wonderful small bistro with attentive service ( thanks Stef!) and simple food that allows the wine to shine. Could have benefitted from the addition of a few more options in main meals, but still a very pleasant experience!
....Would recommend this place for a date night!
Fantastic wine bar with a very diverse and eclectic selection of wines that can either be taken away or imbibed on premises for a fee. It is no surprise that you should be prepared to pay a premium for some of the premium wines. The courtyard out back is a particularly pleasant place for a couple of responsibly consumed wines. Also has a selection of spirits and the like, although wine is certainly the focus.
While the food menu is not extensive, what is on offer is always of good quality, and a lot of it is based on smaller dishes designed to accompany wines.
This was the perfect end to a blurry evening. The lovely New Zealandish man totally pandered to my naive foray into Cabernet franc without being condescending at all, and by gosh it was a good wine. Nice, comfortable way to finish off a night out with good friends (with good cheese to boot).
Reminders of Italy are not difficult to find in Melbourne. In many ways, Melbourne could lay claim to being one of the most Italian places outside of Italy. Gertude Street Enoteca is not classically reminiscent though of an Italian wine shop and bar. Not that it is trying to be Italian. This is a place that features the ingredients, the techniques, but is quintessential modern Melbourne. This local take has been around for years but the only time I’ve tried Brigitte Hafner’s food is at a winery in Red Hill over summer.
I wish this place was closer to my hood because I adore this place. Intimate, cozy, a bit eclectic, and you're surrounded by bottles and bottles of wine. A great place to stop for a drink and a light bite.
A very good place to try wines from the region, despite having wine from around the world.
The service is friendly and knowledgeable of what they do. has advantage sometimes have wine dinners.
Another major advantage is you can buy any bottle of wine cellar and drink it there with the price of cork $ 15 (perhaps the weak point because I think too much), yet not miss visiting this wine bar installed in one of the areas most in vogue melbourne.
Thanks for the suggestions ;)
