Review Perseverance - Fitzroy

Samantha Jovanovic
The music was really good and the bar tenders are so quick and lovely The security however have some sort of power trip/god complex as they wouldn’t even honour a booking we had made for 7:30 By the time we got into the venue after arriving on time it was 8:30 and it was empty so we were waiting in line purely just to make it look like it was busy Security guards were so rude and were picking on anything and everything to kick people out of line Would not go back purely because of how we were treated by them

Was a great night out here, great music, good drinks choices and the tequila was nice and cold. Littttttle expensive, but it's Melbourne

Drinks are reasonably priced, however the dance floor becomes very crowded very quickly.

Legend DJs! Great vibe. Maybe a dance floor light upgrade would seal the deal as the spot to go! But, DJs compensate for it anyway.

Absolute garbage, would rate 0 stars if I could. Had difficulties with the bouncer letting us in, even though we were all sober and had a booking, making us wait outside in freezing cold weather because he wanted to make the place look exclusive and popular (mind you there was barely anyone in the venue and we were the only ones lining up). The staff were so unprofessional. A manager yelled at all my friends and I - the way he raised his voice at us and threatened us was so unprofessional. We left the venue after that. So not a vibe. I will say though the wait staff were lovely and did their job well, it was just management and security who were so, so disappointing.

Nice pub, the dancefloor is quite small and can get very crowded but has a nice outdoor area

Water was not readily available to patrons, which is against RSA, free flowing or asked for at the bar. the only water we had access to was a jug of ice cubes being accessed by everyone at the bar, far less covid safe than allowing people into the venue but not into the dance fooor

I've only been twice but the place has a good atmosphere. Music was a mix of old and new tracks, really good choices and easy to dance to. Just careful because the dancefloor is always packed! There is generally a line to get into the venue, entry is free and drinks are pretty standard as far as pricing goes. Great place to go with the girls, there were signs in the bathroom saying they don't tolerate harassment/speak to the staff if you feel uncomfortable, which I think is A+ on their behalf. Awesome place, will come back!

The place has been a staple of Fitzroy forever, but with the recent improvements it really feels like a welcoming venue, the staff are friendly, always look like they are having a good time and will go out of their way to help you with whatever issues I had. As for the security, i really feel for as they have to make the hard decisions but they are never unreasonable. Drinks are reasonably priced and the addition of the outside bar and marque makes the beer garden more accessible. I miss the 90's only music on a Friday but am still willing to have a boogie. Overall this is a place that I have many great memories of and would love others to come share them

Dropped in here for a drink with a matte. It’s a pretty relaxed pub, and the drinks reasonably priced.

The service was good and the staff friendly. A handy place to visit along Brunswick Street if your in the area and looking to go somewhere for a casual drink. Cheers.

Not my favourite place for a drink in Brunswick street, but it is a good place to kick on for a dance. On Saturday the DJ was playing a great mix of hits (old school and new) although I find the drinks a tad expensive here for what they are.

Empty on a Friday night and I scratch my head and wonder why? This pub has a beer garden, a $7 across most drinks happy hours, and in this instance a great performer in Ezekiel Ox providing a mix of background acoustics and having a play at beat boxing (yes an interesting mix). Yet dead it pretty much was. We drank G&T's and beers filling in time waiting for friends to arrive to go out for dinner. It was a reasonably presented pub internally and externally. Perhaps a little too early for Fitzroy crowds. Perhaps a very different venue later on into the night (as I read some of the other reviews here). Perhaps not in the right spot for after work drinkers.

Not really sure but we enjoyed our quiet drinks with some live acoustic music
A dirty, grubby pub in all the right ways. I've never eaten here, no idea if they even serve food, but they do serve drinks and on a Saturday night they have a DJ playing a whole bunch of hits (from top 40 to some older classics). We got there at 10.30 and it was pretty much empty but by 11ish it was pumping. Great music and fun times. Good if you want to dance!

What a sh#thole. We went for a friend's cousin's party and you could tell even the staff didn't want to be there. The music was all over the place, they'd go straight from hard style sounding music to Carly Rae what's her name. Some of the people were munted (insert word starting with C) There were 2 guys that pushed me into a group of girls and when they were waiting for a drink they were talking sh#t to us and being disrespectful to women, gay people and people of other religions and races, one of their shirts was soaked and they were obviously intoxicated but the bar tender was going to serve them anyway. She had the shot "glasses" out but I had to say something so hopefully she gave them water after that. I don't recommend anyone come here unless they're too drunk to remember what a hole this is, actually that's not a good idea because they'll serve you alcohol anyway and you'll regret it.

Disappointed. I can't believe how is was treated. I was upset cause of a death in the family and I was told I'm not told that I was not.good for.the mood and asked to leave. To be honest I think they were over capacity and needed.to.kick people out.

I love how there's always an atmosphere at the bar, and guaranteed to be people there.

Great. Food was of good standard for a pub, friendly & knowledgeable staff who had a warming presence. Have also been there for their "90's" themed Friday's - a lot of fun! All round, well managed business. A+

Best Burger Ever!!. On a cold and wet Sunday afternoon I stumbled upon the Perseverance Hotel in Brunswick Street and with my stomach talking to me, I made a bee line for the kitchen. Ordering the burger I was a little skeptical of the quality of yet another pub meal, however I was surprised that I had found what could possibly be the best burger in Melbourne!

I have since been back numerous times with friends to enjoy burgers and beer from the Perseverance.

Highly recommended and I just know that it'll keep you coming back for more!

90's fridays. Perseverance aka persa is an awesome night out and well known as the best place to go for a good dance any given friday night. the crowd is exceptional, with a great mix of young blood to older crowds enjoying the music, and the prices are great. Staff are always really friendly and theres usually no trouble at all over the course of a night out, and if there is, its dealt with swiftly and professionally. Overall an amazing place and theres a reason my friends and i continue to come back week in week out.

Great night out. It's bustling on a Friday night full of life and fun music, my friends and I had a great time dancing and chatting to the friendly bar staff. Would recommend to anyone who's looking for a bit of fun with their friends!!

Perseverance = Value for money!. I have been going to persa being my local hotel now for a few months, they always have cold tasty beers and food cooked to perfection, if you are thinking about going out and not having to worry about cooking before hand or stressing over having to eat fast food persa is the place to go, fantastic cheap burgers at a low price with the offer of "building your own" after the meal they have $5 basics til 10 on a weekend which suits my uni lifestyle , i would highly recomend this to all my friends and family! get down to the pers and see for yourself

ps staff are lovely :)

Great food. For the price of the food and what you get I'm quite pleased, especially with the burgers and the unique way you can fill them out. This is a great place to get a meal watch the footy and if you are up for it afterwords stay and enjoy the DJ. I particularly like friday as it is busy and full of life.

COOL PLACE!!

I came here a few weeks ago with friends. It was a great night out, and really good pub. We were disappointed with the food. The burgers and wedges were really good but it took 30 minutes to get 3 burgers and a bowl of wedges. The guy who bought them out was the chef and it seemed there was no other staff to take out meals at a busy time (8:45).
Josh
Great burgers!. Was very surprised by the food here. Buns baked in house, meat cooked perfectly and great value for money. I'll be getting down early on Friday nights from now on!!!

Bloody good burgers. Don't be put off by the exterior.
Great beer garden, tasty burgers and fish & chips, all topped off with nice cold beers.
Arthur
The beef burger was amazing. I'll be back soon!
