The place has been a staple of Fitzroy forever, but with the recent improvements it really feels like a welcoming venue, the staff are friendly, always look like they are having a good time and will go out of their way to help you with whatever issues I had. As for the security, i really feel for as they have to make the hard decisions but they are never unreasonable. Drinks are reasonably priced and the addition of the outside bar and marque makes the beer garden more accessible. I miss the 90's only music on a Friday but am still willing to have a boogie. Overall this is a place that I have many great memories of and would love others to come share them
Empty on a Friday night and I scratch my head and wonder why? This pub has a beer garden, a $7 across most drinks happy hours, and in this instance a great performer in Ezekiel Ox providing a mix of background acoustics and having a play at beat boxing (yes an interesting mix). Yet dead it pretty much was. We drank G&T's and beers filling in time waiting for friends to arrive to go out for dinner. It was a reasonably presented pub internally and externally. Perhaps a little too early for Fitzroy crowds. Perhaps a very different venue later on into the night (as I read some of the other reviews here). Perhaps not in the right spot for after work drinkers.
Not really sure but we enjoyed our quiet drinks with some live acoustic music
I love how there's always an atmosphere at the bar, and guaranteed to be people there.
Great. Food was of good standard for a pub, friendly & knowledgeable staff who had a warming presence. Have also been there for their "90's" themed Friday's - a lot of fun! All round, well managed business. A+
Best Burger Ever!!. On a cold and wet Sunday afternoon I stumbled upon the Perseverance Hotel in Brunswick Street and with my stomach talking to me, I made a bee line for the kitchen. Ordering the burger I was a little skeptical of the quality of yet another pub meal, however I was surprised that I had found what could possibly be the best burger in Melbourne!
I have since been back numerous times with friends to enjoy burgers and beer from the Perseverance.
Highly recommended and I just know that it'll keep you coming back for more!
90's fridays. Perseverance aka persa is an awesome night out and well known as the best place to go for a good dance any given friday night. the crowd is exceptional, with a great mix of young blood to older crowds enjoying the music, and the prices are great. Staff are always really friendly and theres usually no trouble at all over the course of a night out, and if there is, its dealt with swiftly and professionally. Overall an amazing place and theres a reason my friends and i continue to come back week in week out.
Great night out. It's bustling on a Friday night full of life and fun music, my friends and I had a great time dancing and chatting to the friendly bar staff. Would recommend to anyone who's looking for a bit of fun with their friends!!
Perseverance = Value for money!. I have been going to persa being my local hotel now for a few months, they always have cold tasty beers and food cooked to perfection, if you are thinking about going out and not having to worry about cooking before hand or stressing over having to eat fast food persa is the place to go, fantastic cheap burgers at a low price with the offer of "building your own" after the meal they have $5 basics til 10 on a weekend which suits my uni lifestyle , i would highly recomend this to all my friends and family! get down to the pers and see for yourself
ps staff are lovely :)
Satisfied. Good quality bar food at such an affordable price. Warm staff gave great service.
Great food. For the price of the food and what you get I'm quite pleased, especially with the burgers and the unique way you can fill them out. This is a great place to get a meal watch the footy and if you are up for it afterwords stay and enjoy the DJ. I particularly like friday as it is busy and full of life.
COOL PLACE!!
Was a great night out here, great music, good drinks choices and the tequila was nice and cold. Littttttle expensive, but it's Melbourne

Legend DJs! Great vibe. Maybe a dance floor light upgrade would seal the deal as the spot to go! But, DJs compensate for it anyway.
I've only been twice but the place has a good atmosphere. Music was a mix of old and new tracks, really good choices and easy to dance to. Just careful because the dancefloor is always packed! There is generally a line to get into the venue, entry is free and drinks are pretty standard as far as pricing goes. Great place to go with the girls, there were signs in the bathroom saying they don't tolerate harassment/speak to the staff if you feel uncomfortable, which I think is A+ on their behalf. Awesome place, will come back!
