Our go to place for a nice Sunday lunch. My son loves the burger my husband steak and I can’t go past the pork belly! The atmosphere is cosy and the staff has always been fantastic and always have a little joke with my son. We love it will certainly keep this our Sunday favourite.
First time here loved the speedy service loved the steak would recommend this place and will be returning staff 5 stars
We ate beautifully cooked steaks at a celebratory dinner Friday night. The food, wine and service was superb! I've never been disappointed with a meal at the Station. We'll be back.
We celebrated my daughters birthday on Sunday night, we all had the steak, it was delicious. Passion fruit soufflé for dessert was devine. Service was excellent, it's a favorite place to celebrate special occasions!

I’ve been coming here for the past 6 years and the changes in management have been hit and miss, but they have truly nailed it based on my last visit here. Friendly service from the moment we walked in and wait staff were highly attentive and personable throughout the night. Every interaction was positive! Our steaks and sides were beautifully cooked and I honestly cannot fault any part of our experience here. Keep up the great work and I hope our experience will be just as positive the next time we visit!

I have been here many many times over the years. Steaks are always cooked to perfection and I love the condiments you get with the steaks (sauces and mustards)!
Last few weeks I thought I’d change it up and order the chicken schnitzel (which was probably the best schnitzel I had in my whole life - ordered it on numerous occasions) Unfortunately I went and ordered it again the other day and it was below average. Definitely not the same chicken. It was crumbed differently and was much thinner. Like as if it was pre-crumbed. Also the coleslaw has changed and went from tasting amazing to tasteless and pointless (different ingredients and different dressing used now so that was another sign that the ingredients in this dish has changed).
I also ordered the steak sandwich which was very bland and disappointing. Won’t order that again that’s for sure.
I hope the quality soon returns because I do like coming here and I havnt had a bad steak yet. I hope they are not trying to cut costs because it is very noticeable in the difference in quality.
We ordered a rib eye and scotch steak and two lemon lime bitters which totalled up to $110 which is a lot less than the average for two at this restaurant. Both steaks were tender and juicy so overall it was worth its price!

Sher Wagyu! 250 grams of paradise. Steak is cooked medium rare to perfection. Salad and chips are the perfect condiments. Service is well appointed. Would be definitely one of the top steak restaurants in the West. As you can see by the photo it was sensational.
Went here last night for my girlfriends birthday dinner and was extremely satisfied with the meal. We begun the evening with a dozen oysters and I could have eaten them all myself they were that good. Paired with a nice wine, they went down a treat. The mains were everything we could have asked for (if not more). The steak was perfectly cooked as was the rainbow trout. We all thoroughly enjoyed our dinning experience and left extremely satisfied.
My husband, friends and I recently enjoyed an incredible dinner at The Station. The steaks were cooked beautifully and had some amazing flavours. My husband opted for the 8 week dry aged special and it did not disappoint! The service was also phenomenal- the staff really know their stuff! We'll be back for sure.
Station Hotel is a great option and they do some excellent food - they seem to be well known for their steaks but I've enjoyed most dishes I've tried here (and their desserts were delicious)

🍩Lizzie enjoyed: its always packed with people even on a Sunday night. It’s been a local steak place for me and I love it. As Steak is not my my forte, I can’t comment on which cut I love the most because usually it’s such a medium sirloin or tbone. The sauce for the steak is amazing - i love it so much. But they do have other dishes like risotto and parmas that are really good too. I’m so impressed.

Truly is the best steak from the West. Quality of meat is extremely at a high standard and presented well. Atmosphere and high level of customer service made it more appealing and comfortable. Would strongly suggest this restaurant to friends and family.
Returned to Station Hotel after a couple of years and it did not disappoint.
We ordered steaks, the tomahawk being a highlight, accompanied with an assortment of sides, all of which were delicious. The complimentary chips were thick cut and perfectly cooked and sauces were all excellent.
Staff were attentive and amicable. No complaints.

Customer service is great and they said the risotto can be made for vegan so there is vegan option.
We had perfect small size for ladies and teens for Tuesday lunch. Their medium rare was medium-medium well to me. A tiny over cooked.

Had the Qld Kobe eye fillet, the best steak I’ve ever had in my life!!! I ordered medium rare and it’s perfectly done!!! Sauces are nice too!!! Meat is juicy and full of flavour!!! Best of the best really!!!

As far as hotels & pubs go, Station Hotel is probably one of the better ones in Melb - I'd even go as far as to say it's a "gastropub". Excellent menu leaning towards a French influence.
Clean & contemporary interior, it's a great place to grab a steak.
Scotch fillet was cooked medium rare...maybe leaning more towards medium, but it had great flavour from the fat going through it.
Chips were also crunchy and thick. Definitely a very filling meal.

I've been here a couple of times now, and always order the scotch steak. The food is sometimes excellent and sometimes meh. I go here for my anniversary among other celebrations, But overall the service is quite nice.
What an amazing vibrant and service oriented establishment, free parking close to the city, public transportation close by and delicious. We shared the tomahawk steak which was massive! No room for dessert and I was disappointed as I actually liked everything on the dessert menu. Great for family groups and friends to share.
This place is a next level gastro pub. What does that even mean? A fancy pub that cares about their food? Then yes. It is that. Great steaks and a wide selection to choose from. It is expensive but a very very good steak.
DO: The steaks and if possible, the Sunday roast with all the trimmings.
DON'T: Forget about dessert. The sticky date is perfect.

What an absolute cracker of a steakhouse for a very unassuming look and title. This is not your average pub grub. All steaks were cooked to preference, with delicious sides. Having experienced and knowledgeable staff to advise on steak types and flavours is a massive tick. If you’re a steak lover then this is a must.
This is our go to restaurant. The best thing about the night was the service. Friendly and informative in regards to the best cut to have. The food was good and our steaks cooked to our liking. The entrees were good, the smoked tomato dish was great. Our dessert was average. The lava cake is not being served in the dish anymore and hence a sloppy mess on a plate.
The photo doesn’t do it justice...but the steak here is juicy and tender. Cooked well, and chips are crispy on outside and fluffy on inside. Found it reasonable for the price - it is worth the money when you compare to quality of other steak restaurants. Service is good too. Believe and hype and visit this place !
Just came here for a casual Monday night dinner and we both ordered steaks for our main. Cooked to perfection. The chips and salad and sauces were ok and plentiful but there's enough flavour in their steaks that sauces aren't necessary. Besides from the food, I just love their staff. Great with their recommendations and very attentive. Never disappointed with this restaurant.
I loved the steak here , it was juicy , tender and cooked to perfection. The portions were a reasonable size and the service was efficient and friendly.

Definitely a top choice for steak in Melbourne. I had the New York cut and it was cooked to perfection. Truffle jus was slightly too thick “reduced too much” but we did order towards to end of the night so I understand.

What better way to bring in Australia Day than with a big juicy steak. We came to the Station Hotel for dinner with a group of 8 friends. The waitress was lovely as she juggled our disorganized group with various orders, changes to orders and drinks. Having been here on previous occasions I knew the steak would be great. I had the eye fillet which was a little underdone but to be honest I couldn’t be bothered complaining because I knew I would be waiting a while and everyone else would have finished their meals.
I was a little disappointed with the side salad (lettuce and onion) to be honest as for the price I expected a more decent salad with more than two ingredients. It would have also been great to have chips rather than oven roasted potatoes. The wait times for meals were also quite long (40 plus minutes) even though the restaurant wasn’t that busy.
Overall we had an average experience although there is room for improvement and would hope the restaurant takes this on board.
Haven't been back to Station Hotel in a couple of years and I remember my first time being a pretty good experience. We ordered the duck tortelli and the cured salmon roulade. The duck was definitely really nice however the salmon I didn't find as flavoursome. For steak I went with the Rostbiff cut, it was nice but more chewy as explained by the waiter. For desserts sadly my creme brulee was overbaked so it wasn't nice and smooth. Overall it's a nice local place but I would prefer to travel into the cbd.
Always delicious steaks and friendly staff. Steaks on the specials board are always worth paying attention to. Can be a good business lunch. Family friendly atmosphere and usually a few families enjoying a meal.
Wow, what a delicious eye fillet! I don't order chips often and every time I order without chips I never receive more salad. Not here! Thank you so much for being generous with the salad. Pepper sauce is nice too :)
Very much enjoyed the Flat iron and Rostbiff steaks, both cooked to med rare perfection. Crunchy potatoes need some seasoning and the salad more offerings than just lettuce and onion, add some cucumber,cherry tomatoes, carrot and goats feta. The chocolate ganache cake with berry sorbet was devine. Great service, will return.
Had the rump steak here and it was huge and full of flavour. The steak was cooked to perfection and the sauces that came out with it were a bonus. Staff were quick and friendly. Will come back whenever I crave a nice steak.

Best steak in the west they said, well that's probably true. Though I personally think there's room for improvement. We ordered rostbiff steak which was good. The meat looked a bit dry on medium, but actually it tasted all right. It's quite tender. It came out with two sauces, peppercorn and bernaise, which I think it's a good gesture. The problem though, I didn't quite enjoy the sauce. The peppercorn was a bit bland while the bernaise tasted a bit too strong. So I ended up with peppercorn but I add quite a bit of salt onto the steak which I haven't done in a long time. The side dishes, potatoes and salad were just okay. The other dish, spatchcock, was great. The pumpkin puree mixed with mashed potatoes were delicious. And the spatchcock itself was cooked nicely. The dessert was good though slightly disappointing. We ordered lava cake so we expected a cake, or souffle. It was served totally different. It was basically chocolate mould in a baking cup with a thin layer of cake on top plus ice cream. I wouldn't call that a cake. Thankfully it tasted pretty good.
Things have definitely improved here since my last visit 2 years ago. Dining room was still fairly full at 9pm, good sign. Complimentary warm bread was given with my entree of cured salmon roulade. Presentation was pretty but not much going on in terms of flavour. Moving on, my scotch fillet was cooked perfectly medium rare. I feel the prices are justified as it comes with bearnaise and peppercorn sauce, plus the well dressed side salad was quite a large serve. I'm glad things are back on track for this Westside institution.

Dined in tonight and it was really busy due to being the night before a public holiday. Despite being so busy, the service was fantastically attentive.
They brought out our drinks quickly. Our table only ordered mains as we knew the portions were going to be large. While it did take a short while for the mains to come out, it wasn’t an issue for our table as we were realistic with our expectations and we didn’t order entrees - so we shouldn’t have any complaints about wait times anyway. The wait staff apologised anyway (even though we had no complaints) and offered complimentary bread. They met and exceeded my expectations with their service.
The quality of the food is on point. The steak was perfectly cooked and the truffle jus had actual pieces of truffle in it (not just a mix with truffle oil). The portion size was large which kept me too full to order dessert.
While I can see that it is a bit on the expensive side, I think it is worth it’s value because of the quality of the food and service.
I will be returning again when I am craving a good steak.
Station Hotel is still one of my favourite places for steak in Melbourne. It is a pub/restaurant combo, but if you wanted to dine in the restaurant part during peak times (Friday to Sunday evening) its best to book first. Would definitely recommend for some awesome steak!. Station hotel is a Melbourne institution when it comes to steaks. Came here a few times and love the presentation and of course the steaks and other options on the menu. There’s even a lunch time menu for those who feel like something different during their break, which includes the 200g porterhouse with chips and salad for $16 and pumpkin risotto for $15.
Managing waiter Jordan went over and beyond. The service was amazing, food was outstanding as usual! We had a lovely time. Thanks so much!!!
This is simply the best steak place in the West. I have here before for lunch but tonight had the full effect of multiple steaks and dessert, which was delish. My rump steak was soft, texturally flavorsome and grilled to perfection. The sauces of bernaise and peppercorn and the mustards were a wonderful touch. The sticky date pudding was rich, almost smokey and sublime. Service was curterous and well meant albeit not up to par of fine dining level, yet. From the ambiance u can feel that the high calibre steak is drawing customers and another proof that there is a demand for quality food venues in the west. An enjoyable experience.
My all time favourite place to have steak and probably the best in the west for steaks! The eye fillet cooked medium rare always satisfies my cravings. Highly recommended!

As a Westy, it amazes me that i have never tried this place out before. It is truly a hidden gem and doesn't look like much whilst passing but as you enter, it's a whole different story.
The staff were super friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about which steak to order.. we literally happily spent 10mins talking about the different tenderness in steaks and how to have them cooked and ended up going for two excellent recommendations by our bar-guy, the Rostbiff grain fed was very delicious, better than the bavette. The steak came with hand cut chips and salad and the complimentary sauces were divine! To finish, the sticky date wasn't bad but the chocolate lava cake was pretty good! Highly recommend, i will be back here.
Edit - We have since been back multiple times in the past 18 months and the rostbiff grain fed has been perfectly cooked every single time. Shout out to their hand carves chips as well which are super delicious and their 2 main steak dipping sauces.. if you're a steak fan - you need to cone here°

Rostbiff (250g) ($43.00): Sher Wagyu, Wallan (Vic) 450 days MS 8+ Wagyu x Holstein. Served with hand cut chips & green salad, with Bearnaise (GF) and Pepper sauce (GF).
Food:
The steak doesn't look too big in the beginning. But once you start shoveling down the greens along with the hand cut chips, the steak suddenly looks intimidating.
The Bernaise sauce, a rich egg sauce, tasted similarly to butter. Creamy and overpowering, it was great at the start along with the beef. However, juxtapose that with the subtleness of the Pepper sauce and the rich sauce then becomes overbearing.
With the Pepper Sauce, the steak texture and flavour becomes more distinct. A novice reviewer, it's hard for me to describe it but Rostbiff compared to the the rump cap ($38) or the porterhouse ($39). The Rostbiff was a lot chewier than the rump cap (which actually was close to melting in my mouth) and the porterhouse had some layers of fat whilst the Rostbiff had none.

The chips were clearly hand cut and were more of the chunky variety. Plenty of salt made it a very filling side! The salad itself was quite plain, but with surprises of onion and some salty pieces (perhaps from the chips) it often left a sharp touch yet aromatic at times.
Service:
Made a reservation on a rainy day, and requested to seat next to the window. It was initially hard to get their attention to refill our water, being in the very corner of the room, but eventually it was done. Overall experience was pleasant - we were generally left alone. Nothing that truly wowed me especially since they were rated so highly on Zomato.
One of the best steak houses in Melbourne. Steaks are consistently good and the service here is excellent. A good place for a business lunch or dinner
So whilst I can't really compliment this place on its service or it's ambience (being a pub) I must admit the food was very good. This is why my photograph is of am empty plate. It's known for its steaks but I ordered the salmon which was delicious.
If you like your steak then you have to check out The Station Hotel. Served with chips and the most delicious homemade sauces you could ask for, it's a winner. The eye fillet is always my choice. Delicious. The Station Burger also hits the spot if you don't want steak, and the fish and chips is good too if you want a meat free meal 👍🏻

Great service and even better steaks. These guys are most famous for their steaks, but have an extensive menu with plenty of other options. We also tried the fish and chips.

I was excited about going to the Station Hotel, as I had heard great things about their steak.
I started off with the Tuna Tataki which was absolutely delicious, really impressive for a "pub" entree.
Moving on to the main, prior to ordering it took about 15 minutes for someone to actually serve us, plus talk to us about the steak. I ended up choosing the "Rostbiff" steak, which I must say was a little over rated, I expected a better flavour however it was cooked quite well.
The dessert was pretty decent, I'd recommend the Panacotta over the Creme Brûlée which was a little bit too eggy flavoured. All in all a decent place and I'd return again but choose a different cut of beef.

Simply fantastic steak being served here, had their Rostbiff wagyu steak option cooked medium rare. Tender and succulent steak cooked to perfection paired with a lovely Malbec red. Truffle jus for the steak also comes highly recommended. Perfect place to have a birthday dinner.

Came for lunch. Steak was really good and great value at $14 and it came with chips and salad. Service was excellent, staff were very attentive. Desserts were a bit disappointing. The creme brûlée was over done, it had curdled in parts. The chocolate lava cake was nice, looked better than it tasted. The vanilla ice cream was awesome but I needed more as the lava cake was very sweet and it melted before I could have a second spoon. The lava cake had some berry sauce around it but it wasn't my cup of tea. Will definitely be back to try the other menu. Best part was the bread and butter! I could have just had that instead. Fresh sour dough with really nice butter.
