We had the mutton kacchi biryani and a chicken biryani. My husband loved the mutton biryani but the chicken biryani was a bit different for me, it was a tad sweet. It wasn't bad but different. Saff chatted with us and made us feel very comfortable. Would definitely go there again.
I took my partner who was from Bangladesh here for his birthday about a month ago, not because this restaurant was anything flash but because he always said there exists no Bangladeshi resturants here in Melbourne when he wants food from his hometown. For the relatively cheap prices, what we got was a decent feed. Our favourite dish being the mutton curry, would definately order this tasty one again in a heart beat. The letdown was the hilsa fish curry, besides having so many tiny bones which we expected from this fish the cut we got was bitter probably because it was close to the gills? The cutlet was already small so we felt this was not worth the money. The marinade wasn't the best either. They were out of a couple of things we wanted to try from the menu when it came to dessert so we just settled for the rice pudding, nothing too special. My partner did mention food was authentic so worth a try if you are keen on Bangladeshi food. If you prefer gentle flavours like me, you might find the flavours full on.
Highly recommended place, delicious food and beautiful people, its close to public transport and cbd, must visit there again, thanks to owner and staff.
Excuse me ! It's my email "sabozbhuiyan15@gmail.com" Please tell me this restaurant official email address. I need to say something please. I'm waiting...............
Recommended by a Bangladesh friend and we took up our courage to walk in tonight although there was no single diner inside. It didn't disappoint! Great value, great flavours, cooked to perfection. Intriguing menu with so many dishes we wanted to try, and finally picked the mutton leg and the lentils rice with beef. Will come back for lamb brains and crab curry next time!
This is a decent Bangladeshi place. I’ve been to this place a few times now and have never been disappointed. The service is very polite and friendly and the serving time is generally good. There is not many places that serve Bengali (Bangladesh or Kolkata) food in Melbourne and this one doesn’t disappoint. Tried the kacchi biriyani, kalo bhuna, mogoj bhuna, mezban mangsho, khichuri, porota, borhani, etc. and they were all great. I highly recommend it.
A different platter for Bengali newyear. If I have to talk about Bengali food they are the best in town. Food was just perfect. They are getting better with time, really Warm and friendly services.
Great location and environment, good service, very neat and well maintained. It's a bit retro, but with all modern facilities. The restaurants pretty expense though.

Highly recommended...
We had an amazing multi course Bangladeshi Banquet that Tanjil organised for us for $20 per head. All the staff were very accommodating of our large group, including those with special dietary needs. The food was authentic and so so tasty! A personal favourite were the fuchka - awesome little parcels of deliciousness! The lambs brain curry is also a must. For a beautiful cross cultural experience visit Rizq! Thanks to all the staff - we had an amazing night!
Rizq is a little restaurant opposite Footscray Market that specializes in one of the rarer cuisines from the Indian sub-continent: Bangladeshi. It's a pretty basic-looking set-up with laminex tables and chairs under fluorescent lighting and but features a fascinating menu of exotic dishes that represent a much welcome change from the standard chicken tikka marsala and naans in your average Indian restaurant. The Khala Bhuna Mangsho (dark meat in curry) was a "dry" curry of beef pieces on the bone, slow-cooked in a dark mustard seed oil-based gravy. It was very tasty and the spicing was wonderfully complex with flavours of ginger, cardamom and cinnamon. However I thought the meat was a little on the tough side. The Old Dakhaiya Style Katchi Biryani (rice) was outstanding; very buttery spiced rice cooked with tender mutton on the bone and potatoes. I would recommend sharing it as it was very filling and seemed to be a lot richer than your average biryani in Indian restaurants. Finally, now I know it isn't quite for everyone, but the highlight for me would have to be the Mogoj Bhuna (lamb brain curry, yep that's right). The brains were roughly chopped and cooked into a soft, creamy consistency (think of a cross between scrambled eggs and tofu), subtly spiced with ginger and chilli and accompanied by a little salad of chopped tomatoes and cucumber. Absolutely superb. The food was a little slow to come out on my weekend visit but this was somewhat understandable as it appears to be a small family-run joint. The lady manager/owner (who doubles as waitress and cashier) was very friendly and perhaps noting this, threw in a free drink to compensate. Now, THAT is good management; keeping a roving eye on your new customers and service standards and acknowledging any shortfalls. I would have given it 4/5 for the food but Rizq deserves an extra 0.5 for the good and responsive service as it is a quality that should be encouraged. I'll be more than happy to return and try some more dishes from their very interesting menu. 4.5/5.
Today I ordered home delivery using Menulog. I have to admit the food is excellent and true Bangladeshi dishes. I will definitely go to the restaurant with Friends who are not familiar with Bangladeshi food.
There aren't many Bangladeshi restaurants in Melbourne. But out of handful this place would be the best . Quality food plus quantity.
But they really need to work on their service.
I have been there few times and sometimes they are really slow. They also need to work on their ambience. Over all 'a must try' place to tryout Bangali cuisine !
P.s the lady (owner) is extremely friendly .
Rizq Bangladeshi is absolutely fantastic. Tonight was our 3rd time here, and we had the Fuchka, Chotpotti, Duck and Lamb dishes. All were delicious. The Duck and Lamb were particularly special, really rich, slow cooked dishes that were masterfully spiced.
Thumbs-up. Very good food. Very close to indian food but abit different.
Found this place by accident and couldn't have been more satisfied. "Authentic" is definitely the word that comes to mind. Everything had so much flavour and all the food was cooked and served beautifully. Generous portions, very friendly and genuine service. Felt like I was in Bangladesh. Very simple fit out, it's the food and service that will keep me coming back to this place. So refreshing to find somewhere so lovely and simple. Not to mention, extremely well priced. Go on, give it a try.
Authentic. Really authentic Bangladeshi restaurant! Enjoyed the food there, but the dessert portions are a bit small. Will definitely return!!
Yass. Owner incredibly nice, food even nicer. Spicy and awesome. Tell the boss what you like and he will probably sought you out nice. The highlight for us was the 'baby mutton' (lamb?) biryani and this steak thing called Chad or chat that was written on the menu in pen
