Review 149grill - Footscray

Has limited hours of operation. We've seen it lots of times but can't seem to coordinate getting there. When I did, it was good. Tasty burger, and with a wide selection of Mexican food. I went with my boys, and they both liked their cheese and no cheese burgers. I gave four stars because the chips were cold on the top, and hot on the bottom.

Wonderful service by what seems to be a family-run restaurant. Beautiful and carefully planned decor. Background music is a bit out dated and loud and wasn't to my taste but it wasn't a major problem. We had Groupons for the burger and milkshake deal. I am moderately lactose intolerant and there was no soy or lactose-free option for the milkshake which was surprising in this day and age. The food brought out was delicious, but our party of three was sad to realise the small size of the burgers - this is probably more a side effect of being used to massive greasy burgers at most other places, but disappointment is disappointment. The bread used was very light and fluffy, the types of bread rolls you can find at the supermarket so not very substantial. The contents of the burger: the burger itself was great, as were the other ingredients. The two lettuce leafs were a bit awkward compared to usual shredded lettuce I am used to. We were glad we ordered sides of chips not included in the groupon because, even with the chips and a whole milkshake as well as the burger, we were far from full. I am torn writing this review because I think the intention is great, but the execution did not meet the standards set by other local burger places. These days, with one burger a customer expects to be full as if they have had a whole meal which was certainly not the case at 149 Grill.

Must say very classy burger joint – usually found other side of town. We were there for about 40 minutes, beautiful service and enjoyed perhaps the finest food in a casual setting – my Californian Chopped Salad with melt in the mouth Beef was surprisingly delicious. Absolutely honest and fresh food. You get a choice to add slow roasted beef or grilled chicken breast with the salad... would love to eat this food at least once a week. Pity I don’t live in the area. We had also ordered Nachos with added grilled chicken which was similarly fresh and yet cheesy and mouth-watering. The joint itself is a cosy nook to eat out but not that busy. I wish the ‘nutcase’ who spent so much in Footscray, could come to St Kilda. -Andrew G. Smith

FOOD IS TO DIE FOR!!!! I love not only the perfectly done burgers but also the amazing Nachos. Definitely try the salted caramel milkshakes because they give me life😊😊 10/10 definitely coming back

Hello. I recently noticed the new Ogrill near my house in Yarraville. I thought I would give it a go tonight and I must say I am disappointed. Firstly I like a fairly plain burger. Beef, Bacon, Cheese, Lettuce and Ketchup, how easy is that right? Apparently not that easy as I discovered. For a start I couldn’t just ask for what I wanted, I had to pick a burger and ask her to minus this, minus that, add this, add that. This ALWAYS ends in me not getting what I want. So i finished my phone order, had a laugh with the girl on the phone about how they should name the burger after me, the “Matt” burger, and got in my car and headed down to pick up the burger. When I got home I opened the bag and what do you know, Aioli. Completely ruined it, hate the stuff, binned it after 2 bites. Just take my order as I give it to you and give it to the cook, no minus, no plus, just what I asked for. Needless to say I probably won’t go back unless I am with friends who wish to go. I rated 1 for the burger because I binned it, the rest of the food may be good? Matt.

First visit and was warmly welcomed. Very nice burger and herb spices chips, with a kid burger, chips and drink option also good value. Very well priced beer.

So you close at 9:30? How come u declined my order thru Deliveroo at 9:05? Do u not want people's business? No stars..

We would never go back - We used a Groupon voucher for the Waltzing burger (the only one burger available using the (Groupon) & a milkshake. The burger was very plain although they tried to Mexican it up with some useless herbs it was very unappealing. The milkshake was just plain milk & chocolate topping they could not stuff that up. We were the only people in the place although they insist on making a booking, hard to know how they stay in business.

What a find 149Grill is. Been walking past thsi place hundreds of times, went in last night. Went with two of my office colleagues - but were we all impressed? You bet. Food was excellent - Beef in burgers was succulent and juicy - truly flame-grilled tasty - real chicken breast grilled cubes in Nachos and slow cooked beef chunks (far better than most pulled beef chunks) were fantastic... for us all it is going to be our favourite regular eat-out/hide-out place  from now on. Well done this humble family. Rest assured we will be back soon with more colleagues.

Just wanted to let people know this place called 149Grill made fantastic beef burgers last night. My Waltzing Wicked (Beef Burger) @ $9.90 was extraordinarily tasty and fresh. Their Buffalo Wings also @ $9.90 ( for 4 pieces) were uniquely special. Will be deifinite;y going back to try more.

Heard and read about their Buffalo Wings... Tried last night... AMAZING. Could not agree more with another reviewer they have put link of on their website 149grill.com.au. The experience is simply heavenly.

what a great little eating place. I am amazed that foodies have not yet found this place. There was only one table occupied when we went in, but  fantastic food and very good service. The burritos are beyond belief - Fab Fajita with slow smoked beef was five star (5*) and the tex-Mex tango with a speciual chilli jam - a killer. One of us had Texan Melt (double beef + cheese) and he said was superbly well done perfect burger, as it should be. Fried battered brownies were to die for! rich oozing with the melty choc.<br/>Location - not so good and especially with no foot traffic but fit-out outstanding. very well thought out, must visit place for both ambience and food. Be brave and adventurous, go in there and try. You will want it to be yours for keeps. We are definitely coming back soon. Congrats 149Grill - you won us all last night!

Thought we'd try it again ..<br/>I ring to order guy answers "hello?"<br/>Me "is this o'grill?"<br/>Guy "yes"<br/>Me "Can I Order..."<br/>Guy "we are not open"<br/>Me "it says I'm the internet your open 12-9"<br/>Guy "we'll have this rectified"<br/>Me "so when are you open"?" <br/>Guy "Clunk" 😐<br/>What the ...?<br/>Get a home phone & don't answer the business line if you don't want business!<br/><br/>You've just lost our business 👎🏽

I'd describe this place as a bit odd. It just has a weird feel about it. The owners seem like lovely people. Friendly and welcoming. <br/> I had trouble ordering because I was distracted by the strange burger names. Succulento? Chicken Stand Off? I panicked and ordered the Texan Melt. <br/> I don't know if they make their own patties or if they're trucked in from horse graveyards but they're not great. Each one is perfectly disc shaped and uniformly sized. I can imagine a giant table of flattened mystery meat and a man pressing an empty tin can into it. <br/> Perhaps one day if I'm passing by with thirteen stubbies in me I'll call in again.

Ordered half a chicken with spicy chipotle and chips. Food was most definitely freshly cooked and the chipotle sauce was delicious. Wish they had salads as a side than a main thoughWill be back

Excellent customer service but food was very average. The big win for me is this place caters for gluten free food and they are very pedantic about contamination, which is a win for me. I had the burger but will try something else next time.

Surprisingly delicious...quarter chicken was succulent and my partner rated the mushroom burger as more homely than 8Bit.  Nachos were fresh, but the best thing was they nailed the seasoning on the chips.  Nice service staff and inexpensive.<br/><br/>The location and fit-out is not as inviting as it could be, but as we ordered take-away it wasn't an issue. Recommended for a quick meal.

Well.. I went to the new place O'Grill and i feel bad to say (because the service was good) but i didnt really rate it. Michael got a beef fajita and i got the beef burrito. I'll begin with the fact that i feel regret and slightly cheated by ordering beef. The 'beef' was actually burger patties cut up into strips :/. I really didnt enjoy it as I've never come across this before and was expecting grilled beef strips or slow cooked pulled beef. I ordered my burrito without rice or beans because i simply don't like mushy bland stuff. The cheese was delicious! Monterey jack, oozing with its tasty goodness. The chipotle sauce was great too and the coriander give it freshness. Size-wise, it wasn't very filling - it was roughly smaller than a twister. Price was a bit steep for what we got for $30 . 2 wraps, a chips and one can of soft-drink. They're wraps disappointed us but maybe they're burgers or chicken are much better? I can't say we'll be back to try again though. 5/10

Went in this afternoon for lunch. Fresh and delicious burger. My daughters loved the kiddy burger meal, I had Southern Melt with added Egg. Yum! Clean place and friendly staff. Definitely going there again soon!

O'Grill is Good. Cool fitout, friendly people and honest fresh food. The burgers are freshly cooked and speedily delivered, with tasty relishes and salads. Chips are very good too. We will be back.

Outstanding 10/10. The wonderful and friendly team at O'Grill do what I would say is one of the most delicious, flavoursome and best burritos around! It's jam packed with tender Chicken, perfectly cooked rice and beans and finished with the most incredible chipotle sauce. <br/>The staff are always so friendly and welcoming and the food is outstanding, a definite 10 out of 10.

Consistently delicious!. This is most definitely one of our favourite go-to places for fresh salads and burgers. The tex-mex standoff burger is delicious - chicken is always tender and ingredients always fresh and tasty. You also can't go past the nachos! A much needed addition to the area!

Great new find for chicken !. Dropped in for lunch, and thought we would try out the burgers, Tex-Mex and Camarada, and fries. Both burgers were large and delicious with juicy chicken breast and great balance of flavours. Struggled to finish the fries do to the size of the burger, but again they were flavorsome and nice and thick. Service was really pleasant and attentive as well. Will definitely be back to try a chicken meal.

Yum!. We had the mexican wrap/burrito and it was delicious. So many flavours. Really enjoyable.

Food was yum. Yum tex-mex flavours - the chipotle mayo was the hit with the chips. My Mexi-Slaw salad came with the grilled chicken breast which was so tender and juicy...Going for this again. <br/><br/>Service was a bit slow but worth the wait.
