The food is traditional Japanese and standard. We had 6 dishes and were near to bursting . Atmosphere is casual and contemporary Japanese.
While the tempura vegetables werent knife crisp , the raw fish was well cut and good quality - my wife wont eat it but it’s excellent.
Try the spicy crumbed chicken. Seriously good.
The hot house sake made it even more pleasnt.
The squeeky japanese waitress’s voice was straight out of anime. A good vegetarian selection : the field mushroom with cheese is certainly delicious!
It is the best in the area since the riversdale rd Camberwell restaurant closed a few years back.
I didnt think it was expensive- but i did wonder if i could order something off the menu ( aka huge sushi, sashimi banquet)

Atmosphere: excellent (soft lighting, comfortable seating, nice decor)
Service: excellent (iPad ordering, friendly + accommodating + efficient staff, food comes out super quick, a waitress even chased me out to return my phone which I stupidly left on the table)
Food: excellent (reasonably priced, delicious, mouth watering fresh tuna, scrumptious gyoza)
Drinks: excellent (yummy Japanese beers, a large range of sake, standard soft drinks, lots of unusual non-alcoholic drinks)
I come here every six months or so and always look forward to it. The food is good and the iPad ordering system is fantastic. You never have to wait to place your order and the dish is delivered promptly. Great menu that should have something for everyone.
Initially booked Kuromatsu for a Birthday dinner but due to unforeseen circumstances on their part, they took the initiative to make sure we get compensated for it and that, have earned themselves respect and loyalty customers. You guys made the birthday dinner from a disaster to a blessing in disguise. Thank you big time! Staff are very friendly here, cozy and home feeling.

Been there for 5 times. Food and service always been consistent. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend to have their Buta Kimchi Toji and skewers.
Ambience : 4/5. Great lighting, spacious and cosy. A busy restaurant especially on the weekend. The place is well managed and the staffs are very organised.
Food : 4/5. Food were ordered through an iPad located on each table which made it easier for diners to place their orders. The seafood was really fresh especially the dragon and salmon rolls. Portions were also generous.
Service : 4/5. Great and fast service. Staffs were friendly and attentive.

Great family restaurant, really bright interior and very spacious. Order on a tablet which means everyone in the family can have fun flicking through the menu and point-ordering. Very friendly staff too. I thought their sushi rolls were the best (try the dragon roll and the spicy tuna).
A place we go to for special occasions. Their udon hotpot is simply delicious! I have to order it every time I come. Their matcha ice cream is extremely rich and bitter, truly satisfying. It’s a bit expensive, but the variety of their dishes make for an exciting shared meal.
This place has gotten even better since our last visit. The food is fresh and delicious and the staff is super friendly, efficient and just so right. It is all in a wonderful experience. The range of drinks, including the sake, was very nice too. Truly wonderful night out at this local.
When look the place from outside is like normal restaurant, but when you come in it so comfy and nice place to eat even at the bar.
The food is extraordinary good, excellent!
My favorite is gyu tataki from nibbles, ebiten & avo roll from sushi, tori wasabi mayo skewer from skewer, hotate butter from summer special.
For the price is affordable for this quality of food.

Been years since I came here, and stopped by whilst we were in town. Glad to see the food is as wonderful as ever. Ordered a mixture of dishes to share with my partner and they were all delicious. A good word of warning though...One can easily lose track of the number of dishes they have ordered since everything was yummy.

I have been coming to Nishikian for several years now with friends and family and it has NEVER disappointed me. This might sound like a bold claim, but it truly is my favourite Izakaya style Japanese Restaurant.
I love how some of their dishes change seasonally as it means there's always something new and fresh to try. Their recipes and ingredients are authentic to the real deal in Japan. The iPad system and robot waiter (who is absolutely adorable by the way) are awesome too, makes everything very easy and efficient when paired with their lovely staff.

Super delicious Japanese food. I will highly recommend this place. Great selection of Japanese food options. We tried the Salmon and Tuna sashimi as well as several nigiri options. We will definitely be coming back for more food to try.

We had a good experience eating here. It was our first time here, so I have no idea what used to be served. The seafood tempura roll is a MUST TRY! So deliciously good👍 The unagi don, tori karaage and yakitori beef tongue was yummy too. Sashimi and hotate (scallops) were fresh. The menu is not as extensive as some Japanese restaurants. Didn’t have the basic maki or hand rolls on their menu. I suppose that made us be more adventurous to try out other different types of dishes. Serving size is standard Japanese serving size. Good ambience. Ordering is via a tablet/IPad ordering system. Just make sure you order the right thing as there is no cancellation. Food service was fairly quick right after we press ORDER considering the crowd in the restaurant. For a Japanese casual dining , I think it’s reasonably priced and decent. This will be one of our Japanese restaurants lists to visit in future.
Fresh ingredients are the main reason I come eat here. The grilled eel Bento was way to simple so lost a star for that.

This is the place we'd go when we need to get our Japanese gourmet food fix.
The place has few new items on the menu (seasonal), and they have a new helper with serving of food.
All in all, always a great experience at Nishikian.
Very popular place for local, service was fast. Food are ok but serving size are small in relation to the price & comparing to other Japanese I have been to. The kitchen close at nine as it is only local, booking recommend on Fri & Sat as there are normally 2 seating
