Review Magna Pizza - Fremantle

Imelda Cotton
In case you’re wondering… Yes. It is possible for a pizza base to be too thin. The “Simplice” (margharita) we had tonight was delicious but unfortunately the base was pulled way too thin and the dough wasn’t able to hold the weight of the cheese and sauce on top. Couldn’t lift piece without it falling apart and creating a gooey mess. Shame bc the crust was really yum and it was a taste of what a slightly thicker base could’ve been. Good value for $18. Friendly service.

A bit disappointing, we ordered through Uber eats and saw the photos and descriptions. The Antica did not have any bbq sauce and little toppings compared to its photo and description (would have understood if ingredients weren’t available but it wasn’t changed on Uber eats) but the rustica was amazing.
Niran Wick
Really enjoyed the pizza here, could do with a little more toppings but otherwise very good.
Travis Szolkowski
What a groovy resto, feels authentically italian, delicious wood fired pizza and super friendly staff, with pizza specials on tonight. Love it, and will be back to check it out soon.

Every time I have eaten here I have been DISSAPOINTED. Unprofessionalism, mistakes in orders, but this time was the last straw when I ordered a pizza that had NO SAUCE on it, was extremely dry and burnt all around. Not worth it at all and definitely do not recommend!! (Half the pizza could not be eaten due to how burnt it was)
Dropcat
$15 Tuesday pizza, one of freos best kept secrets and it's BYO 😍😍😍
Stephanie
Amazing authentic wood fire pizza. Would rank in my top three pizza places in Perth. Great atmosphere. We were lucky to come at a quiet time, service was great and food was quick. Will be back.
Laura Moreira da Cruz
1h45mins waiting for a pizza when they originally said 1hr. Do not order takeaway from this place.
Takemetoyourlocal
I appreciate the fresh ingredients and wood-fire taste of this pizza. A few wines down and it would be just what anyone would want. But over the top with the cheese for a Margherita, if your looking for a cheese pizza - it's a good one!
Vicky Li
We ordered the Fresca and loved it; the base was perfectly thin but still chewy and the toppings were awesome. We thought everything was quite well priced and the options available were a little bit out of the ordinary. Would come back :)
Asa_seymour
Very long wait time for the pizzas (people before and after us were getting refunds) but at least the pizza was good when it finally came out. Good vibes at the mantle
The Chefs Wife
The Mantle is found in a converted warehouse overlooking Freo’s Port. It’s a haven for foodies, with more than one taste bud tempting venue to eat at – like Magna Pizza. The Mantle is also home to Don Tappa, Short Order Burger Co, Stampede Gelato and Alter Ego bar. The Mantle was actually our plan B. These two LOVE pizza.
Georgia Leech
Visited Magna Pizza inside The Mantle for a friend’s birthday. Great prices - for a group they do $25 a head - SO much pizza (also included bruschetta/garlic bread appetisers and Nutella dessert pizza) all tasted good. They also catered for a few vegans in our group. The truffle pizza was amazing, as was the chicken bbq pizza. The style (thin pizza, sparsely topped with choice ingredients) is my favourite. It’s also BYO with corkage included in the $25. I think this was incredible value. The only negative I have is that they were a bit disorganised and took a while to get things out because our host was under the impression that things would be served automatically but we did actually have to ask them to start the food - which was a bit odd but just something that needs to be better communicated. All in all we had a great night.
Shoey Kay
We have been twice for staff dinners, and will continue to come back. Works out to be very well priced per head, and is byo.
Some of the pizza combinations are a little odd and were definitely misses, but others were absolutely sensational! (The white truffle pizza, and the Adriano!)
The staff are friendly and accommodating, the atmosphere is great, I wish it were dog friendly!

took kids here for a pizza as they had asked for weeks to go to Ruoccos, I though we would try local place.I was expecting the Burger joint to be opened on Sunday arvo, which wasn't,I learned the hard way that if you buy food at one vendor and bring it to another vendors seating, they get upset, staff also seemed unhappy that id brought in 2 little kidsPizza was ok, but lacked something. The whole place had a odd and unfriendly vibemaybe I just went on a bad day?
Truth Be Told Australia
First thing we notice this time around visiting the Mantle on a Sunday lunch is its DEAD quiet .. and why does the burger place only open at night ?? They need to all open up get some live music and start attracting a crowd ..it's a shame as it's sometimes nice to escape the cappuccino strip, however not only was it quiet , but it really looks Like it needs a good clean, even for a warehouse. We sat near the window and all 3 little pot plants had tipped
Over and there was dirt spread all over the window seal not to mention the flies. 😏. After we got past that (3 mins later )Besides that This has always been a favourite pizza place of ours. We started with the crostino with mozzarella and mushrooms $13, great value , however it lacked a little seasoning. The pizza was the Adriano and it was delicious, could not fault it. The cheese was awesome $25. Ingredients are fabulous.. I hope you get the crowds you deserve one day .

Vibe at the mantle is a funky but chilled atmosphere. Stepping up into Magna's Pizza has a spread of seating options whether you're with a big group, small or just flying solo there are seating arrangements for everyone.

The choices on the menu will have you overwhelmed at deciding what to choose, however don't panic as there is no wrong choice with their quality flavour combinations.

Magna offers take away and is also available with uber eats. If you decide to dine in they also have a BYO option.

Only downfall is that the service can be hit and miss but overall it's a great place to dine. We've chosen Magna's pizza many times!
Rme
Terrible and expensive
Ordered pizza arrived cold
Was meant to be buffalo mozzarella and fresh basil
There was No basil on the pizza and the cheese had not melted
Basically paid $25 for tomato
paste on a pizza base
Vego-gem
A great setting, sure, but the importance of that ends when the food isn't any good. The pizzas are overpriced for what taste like poor quality ingredients. I had eggplant on my pizza and it was way too oily. The cheese they use is pretty tasteless, the tomato sauce is flat, so overall it was pretty bland. My partner had the same problem with his pizza - not much flavour. To top it off, the service was average. We were pretty disappointed and won't return.
Foodle
Excellent pizzas. Fresh and high quality ingredients. Not your standard style pizzas, these seem more authentic than many in perth. More 'soupy' like you find in Naples. So delicious. The set up is confusing. And it's hot inside... but the pizzas and byo booze is a winner
Hospo Twat
Just ate here for the second time, and it was just as good, if not better than the first. Seriously legit Pizza. Had the Adriano and the nerone pizzas which were amazeballs, and a mate of mine had the calzone which was the absolute tits. Definitely be going back once I'm feeling recovered from the pizza coma I'm about to enter. Best Pizza in WA!
Homerj
LOVE the warehouse setup !! Definitely would be amazing at night when all the eating places are open ! We had Delicious Pizza ! We shared buffalo cheese with chilli And also had one with black olive anchovy & onion !
Yummm! Will definitely return at night to try the places
Freo Food Girl
Seems authentic - italian waitresses. Strayed from my normal sacre bleu (ham and cheese) pizza order to get the Domiziano as I had seen the photo on their instagram and like a pizza that is designed to feature the sauce. The base is nice however it was swimming in salty sauce, while not technically bad it did distract from the normal pizza eating experience, I know what I ordered is supposed to be saucy however it was taken a bit too far. Will be back to try other combinations as their menu features some unique combinations.
Geoffrey Law
Pizza was good but no condiments were offered. A little parmesan and olive oil would have improved the experience.
Try a little harder guys!
Sean
Went here with some friends for pizza and drinks. The BYO system of the mantel is ridiculous and completely confusing. Know one that works there is capable of explaining this properly.

Ordered a pizza. Received It without cheese. After discussing this with an incredible arrogant young Italian girl and decided to just continue my night and eat what was given to me. After realising they forgot to give me the chopped chilli on the side, I asked for a refund. The young Italian girl came to my table and basically threw the coin on the table and accused me of being in the wrong when ordering "because it said no cheese", and due to me being upset about that I forgot to remind them about my chilli. The nerve of these guys is next level.

The correct thing to do would be to make another pizza and apologise. That was not possible at Magna pizza. After an email to the "manager" I received an email saying that the staff have been trained properly and that there was a language barrier. What a joke.

Un professional, incompetent in customer service. Ruined a fantastic afternoon with friends, due to one person with a huge ego that has absolutely no experience in customer service. These sorts of establishments can't afford this sort of service, especially being in fremantle with high quality competition.

Will never return, and will advise anyone not to go there, as it was some of the poorest customer service I have ever received. It's a shame because the the pizza chefs are fantastic.
Emily
Great pizza and great location. The service was really relaxed, which Really worked in that sort of relaxed setting. BYO was a bonus too! Thumbs up from me!

Best pizzas in Perth at the best venue :D The pizza menu is huge, so surely to please everyone. Highly recommend Cicerone and Giordano. Great service who remember you time and time again. It's also BYO, so whats not to like?
Lee
The favourite of the evening is a vegetarian pizza called the Giordano. Walnuts on a pizza you say? An interesting mix of tomato sauce, mozzarella, fried eggplant, sun dried tomatoes, pesto and walnuts. This stood out as the pizza with the most flavour, it was delicious and everyone wanted a slice.

It was the first time I had visited Mantle after hearing such great reviews and general talk about it.Took a ride with a mate down for dinner and sat outside. After a quick walk around inside it seems like a great, relaxed modern food-court vibe with high end takeaway food.Ol' mate was up for a pizza, but I had heard such great things about the burgers I wanted to try it out.
After ordering the pizza I went and ordered and collected the burger within 10 minutes.Sat outside and was immediately told I cant have the burger at the table, and I had to take it elsewhere. Explained we had ordered a pizza as well but the waitress was not having it and told me to take it away and eat elsewhere. With no signs up or any clear indication to the organisation I assumed you could just order and eat, but NO !Ol' mate went to see the manager and ask what the story was.Still waiting for the pizza.Long story short, you cant "mix and match". If you order a pizza, you have to stay within the (unindicated) pizza area. If you want a burger and to sit with your pizza loving mates, you'll have to leave. That long winded story aside, for a friday night that was far from 'heaving' for a simple pizza to take over 45 minutes to arrive is incredibly lacking. Pizza looked fine, but after a long wait, rude service and disjointed layout it felt a waste.

Aside from that the vibe and idea behind the Mantle is fantastic. They just need to refine the service.
Perth Burger Boy
The pizza we had here was good, and the pizza base was definitely a highlight - could have eaten the whole thing myself. Unfortunately, the service was a little slow tonight, and we had to wait a while just to be able to have a look at a menu as they didn't have enough. Tad pricey for a pizza that doesn't have much on it except a handful of veggies and cheese.
Master Roshi
Amazing pizza choices however I only have one stomach. Pizzas took some time but it was a considerable busy night. Best wood fired pizza I've had in ages....
B & M
We had the pizza it was good and delicious. So we decided to go for the breakfast on the next weekend. Very disappointed. Very simple menu but not much choice. Bacon like boiled, not wood fire taste, horrible. Coffee and service OK. This meal made M sick with the runs less than a hour later.
Roxy Imb
A few months ago I left this place a bad review because 3 times in a row I got a burnt dry pizza. I was very disappointed and it took me a while to give them another chance as the pizza is not cheap and I did not want to waste money on a burnt pizza again. Anyway, I am happy I went back cause my pizza was very good! I got a Domiziano which is simple tomato sauce and buffalo mozzarella. Yum! I definitely recommend! The place was quite busy on a Saturday night but the staff was kind enough to find us a table. I was happy of both service and food.
Inexology
The Magna Pizza itself was simply bursting with flavour from the mixed of lamb, chicken, pork, beef as well as hot salami, bacon and pesto (garlic, parsley, capsicum). It was also a winning pizza of the night if compared with Tiberio chicken pizza. It was tasty to look at as much as it was tasty to eat too. Toppings and spread of cheese was even across the pizza and no slice felt more tempting than the other.

Tiberio chicken pizza's taste mostly came from the mozzarella and smoked cheese but the taste was quite weak in comparison to the Magna Pizza. The chicken pieces were well cooked and the base/crust had a satisfying thin crunchiness to it. While it was certainly an enjoyable pizza, it lacked a distinct uniqueness about it.

Absolutely amazing!
We had such a great dinner at Magna Pizza. I loved the venue, such a cool set up.
the food is very authentic Italian. We came in a big group, so we got to try a lot of different pizzas. every single one was delicious! They have heaps of vegetarian options with lots of flavour. I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends. Thanks guys :)
Gaia Villa
Magna pizza is not just a place where you go to eat a great pizza, real Italian style. It's a place where you also find gentle staff, ready to listen to you request. Excellent atmosphere and after pizza delicious dessert to try prepared from Giovanna the owner. Try pizza Nutella, tiramisu' and crostata with Nutella, great taste! All is baked daily. If you want to feel home just go to Magna Pizza. Love it! ❤️🍕
J Smith
Nice and crispy wood fired pizzas and they're not shy with their toppings. All three pizzas were delicious! With a fresh salad as a side....
DDS
Best pizza in Perth so far! We went there on a busy Friday night, the service was great with an efficient staff...Pizzas were amazing, thin and crusty, we ordered a Pantheon calzone and a vegetarian one "Giordano", both very yummy...with a right balance of fresh ingredients and tastiness!
An added bonus the place is BYO...We loved it and reccomended it!
Vegemicated
Has a big range of pizzas but limited vegan options. It was a long wait even when the place wasn't busy. The pizza was average at best. The Mantle venue has a cool vibe but I wouldn't recommend the pizzas.
Skcapp
Absolutely horrible! Raw pizza which took over an hour to come out! Terrible service and when we finally got our pizzas they were doughy and inedible. Never ever again!!
Nana Oliver
Love the woodfired pizzas. It was hard to get tables as we were a group of 7 people and the venue was bit crowded. If the drinks werer bit cheaper, I would have been happer

Every time we go there we are so impressed with the incredibly helpful and friendly service. The first time they went right out of their way to knock up a delicious gluten free faux pizza for my girlfriend (she's coeliac) that was far better than any normal gluten free pizza she has tried. The second time the owner actually leant us his car to go to the bottle shop to save us walking the couple of k's! (we had caught a cab and had no way to get out own wine).

My normal pizzas there also always impress and the un-pretentious chilled atmosphere is an absolute delight.
FoodNinja
Pizza were woodfired and delicious - although one was quite bland (can't remember the name but it had prawns on it). The bases were nice and crispy, not soggy in the middle. There are a lot of pizza options on the menu so it should cater for most tastes. Expect a bit of a wait for food on a busy night though.
DKP13
Gorgeous little Freo venue, really nice with some Saturday afternoon sunshine! Friendly and prompt service. We ordered the Ponzio Pilato and it was seriously delicious! We had prosciutto instead of mortadella.. So yum!
Pizza was on our table within 10mins of ordering :)
Highly recommend!
Drum_tum_tum
Came for Sunday breakfast, we were the only table here at 11am! Menu is very simple and we went with scrambled eggs and bacon with beans cooked in in the pizza oven. (I got mine without beans, not a bean fan). Coffee special on a Sunday : free coffee with breakfast! Excellent! Eggs came out roasting hot out of the oven and stayed hot, peppered with tiny red onion chunks, yum! Toast was super fresh and delicious. Would go back, maybe when it's a bit busier next time.
Salty
Really fantastic Pizza! Ordered two pizzas and they both were so delicious! Quality ingredients and beautiful crust. Raving about this place!

Another easy Sunday dinner with the kids! Authentic Italian pizza made by Italians. The DJ plays beats while the kids play ping pong and have a run around, the staff are super easy going, letting the kids watch the pizzas get made or giving them ping pong balls to play on the pong table. They didn't even seem bothered when my 2yr old dumped her dinner all over the floor!! The pizzas are well priced and it's BYO which makes it the perfect cheap and cheerful place for a child friendly pizza hit! You do need to book these days, it's getting popular, no surprise really!!
Shankala
Really delicious authentic pizza. Love the atmosphere too. It's located in a great space where you can order different food from different vendors. Great concept!
Alessia Quinzi
I went to Magna Pizza on a very busy Saturday night , the staff was efficient and very friendly. We ordered 2 pizzas, Giordano and Nerone, we loved them! It was like being back in Rome, best pizza in perth!
Magna Pizza is a great venue for kids.
Better to book during the weekend.
Jo
The place we were looking for! We have been welcomed by a friendly staff and the pizza was the best we've ever had in perth, thin base and crusty. We had 3 pizzas, and we loved the Adriano, with Chorizo and jalapeños. We ended with a delicious home made tiramisù. BYO with a corkage of 5 dollars per bottle of wine. We'll definitely go back!
Clare O'Kelly
Great gluten free pizza, so much so that I had to go back for seconds two nights in a row before returning to Melboune. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town!
Kat
Sat at the 'pizza bar' and watched our pizza being made = fun! friendly and accommodating staff. After living in Italy I can safely say their pizza tasted like I was right back over there! Now determined to get through their impressive list of pizza topping options ;-) panacotta is a must try too!
Torty Marty
Beautiful pizza. I ordered the "domiziano pizza" the flavours was really nice and the mozzarella, nothing to say: delicious. The staff was really friendly. I' come back soon...
Nat
My partner and I shared a chicken pizza here last weekend and both got very sick afterwards. From outside, the gardens make magna pizzas appear like an attractive location however the service was below average and there is no doubt we got food poisoning was from here. Atleast prices were low
Chris M
Great if you love 40 minute waits for food. Plenty of seating in the half empty restaurant. Highly recommend the flagship pizza with a pinch of meat and Masterfoods BBQ sauce. Excellent value at $25 per pizza, cans of coke just $4!! Wow. Icing on the cake is the wonderful service from the staff, I'm sorry to have bothered you with my requests for a meal...

Fai schifo, don't waste your time.
Natasha Guerinoni
Great concept to have three eateries sharing the one space. Though the differing liquor licences are confusing (Magna is BYO $5 corkage). The thin pizza bases are on point with an overwhelming 30 topping combinations to choose from. You can't go past the bologanise pizza, salmon and spinach or just a simple mozzarella and basil. Cheesy and fresh.
Joshgetsfat
Great thin crust pizzas located in the Mantle with an nice atmosphere!
Great, friendly service. The server really gave some good, honest recommendations as well.

Giordano Pizza was stand out for me - real strong & rich flavours, addition of walnuts was really nice!

The Buffalo Mozzarella (Domiziano) was nice but the toppings turned out extremely watery for some reason.

Tiramisu was enjoyable but that huge blob of nutella overpowered everything else.
Elle Pierce
We came here on a Sunday and the food was timely, fresh and delicious. One of the best pizzas I have had in Perth and not a ridiculous price like most!
Luke Harding
Poor service. Upon walking up to magna pizza I got greeted by a cringe from the chef.I always rate a pizza joint by the garlic bread so I ordered one and it was oil and garlic on toast not something that had come out of the oven .The prices there are simply unacceptable .I've seen too many places trying to promote themselves as upmarket that don't have the time for riff raff like me don't bother any place that charges 10 dollars for a stubby of beer is't classy it just means that your going to get treated like the staff are doing you a favour.

BEST PIZZA IN PERTH love th.... BEST PIZZA IN PERTH
love this place, the pizzas are incredible, and the setting is so cool!
Gunaidam
Great Pizzeria. The best pizza in Australia so far. Real authentic Italian pizza with fresh ingredients. Very good service and nice location.
Definitely coming back!
Georgia E
Raw sausage mince in salad. I would not return to or recommend this place! After being served underwhelming pizza we discovered a chunk of raw mince in our side salad. Staff did not seem concerned at all and didn't even offer our money back until we asked for it. Really disappointed.

FANTASTIC PIZZA IN FREMANTLE. Being a Fremantle Local myself I found it very hard to find a place that made proper Italian style pizza, like the way they make in Italy, and by word of mouth from a friend I finally found it "MANGIA PIZZA', I went for the first time on a very busy Saturday night, and although the place was packed full of people the staff at this place are extremely friendly and fantastic, The Pizza was extremely nice and very large and too die for. I have no double that I will be going there again in the near future and recommending all my friends and family.

Congratulations Mangia Pizza I will be back soon.
sonia

-----23 Feb, 2015-----

FANTASTIC SERVICE AND FOOD. Great Find. Needed somewhere casual for my youngest lad's 10th birthday dinner with the family and stumbled across this on Urbanspoon so gave it a go. Sat in the new alfresco area which was cool and were treated to a lovely pink/red sunset sky.
Food was fabulous - pizzas top class and the starters were real treats, especially the Crostino and the salad.
Friendly service with smiles, kept our ice cream cake cold until we were ready then brought it out, lit the candles and joined in singing Happy Birthday.
Great value - 7 of us had 5 starters and 4 pizzas (plenty), soft drinks for 4 and brought our own wine for a total of $157.
The venue inside is really cool, sharing converted warehouse space with a South American Restaurant (must try that next!) and a bar.
Easy parking - this could become a regular venue.....
Cheryl Fletcher
Great food, service terrific and have done an exceptional job with the reuse of one of Freos old buildings. Watching the night trains glide past the great windows is very New York, well done, a fantastic space !!
Ben
Seriously impressive pizza, great vibe and service. This is a little gem of a place - we shall be back. Soon!

The Colosseo of Perth Pizza. Having lived in Italy, the authenticity of the food and the staff is spot on! Pizzas are not only perfection, they are worthy of a Papal visit. Gio's tira misu is an experience in itself, well worth the drive down just for that. Could not ask for a better place to catch up and split a few pizzas amongst a group of friends and family. Gold medal service, with a smile and great yarn with the owners.
The pack will be back!
Adam Deans
Awesome. Great ambiance, best pizza and tiramisu in Perth and very friendly and efficient staff! Didn't need a take away box because the pizza was so good I ate it all
Hungrypup
Great pizza, crap service. I wanted to take some pizza away and the guy just plopped an empty, unfolded box on the table haha

My Godfather hands down best pizza in Perth. Can't recommend enough, if you want authentic Italian pizza this place rocks. Really accommodating to the needs of our little kids too.
Skinny_twigs
BEST pizza in Perth!. The Pizza at Magnas is hands down the best pizza in Perth! It's so authentic and fresh and the flavours are so organic that it makes my mouth drool just thinking about my experience there!
The staff are friendly, the pizza chefs are hilarious and the owners are passionate and driven to make sure the customer has a good experience.
The strawberry tiramisu is to die for, and serves in jars that give the place its own creative identity!
I would highly recommend this quickly thriving resturant to others so they can experience some real quality Italian pizza!
Rob
Best Pizza place in Perth. Manga Pizza, best pizza in Perth. Great atmosphere, staff and service. Great range of pizza and the deserts are amazing, Nutella Pizza and the Tiramisu. Thanks Magna Pizza for a great night out. Definitely coming back!
Johnno Wroth
Magnifique Pizza!. Been to Magna Pizza twice both times exceptional! First date night, the pizzas were just like in Rome and the tiramisu specialty just capped it off. I was that impressed when my bday came round we took 20 adults and kids and launched into more pizza a week later. Magna were extremely accommodating keeping the pizzas coming for all and chose planner margarita pizzas for the kids whilst the adults had done more adventurous including my favourite the Caio with chilli and anchovies. Even with a big group other customers all seemed to get pizzas quickly and enjoy the casual atmosphere. I would be back weekly but the tiramisu would get me each time!
Catchyupmate
Best pizza ever. The food was amazing and the staff great!
Try the traiano pizza... It is out of this world!!!
Can't wait to go there again
Thanks to all the staff... Brilliant service!
Marty Wray
Good pizza but TERRIBLE service. We ordered three pizzas, only got given two and then got accused of lying by the owner that we had eaten the third pizza! Then they tried to clear our plates even when we were waiting for the third. Below par service, rude staff, will be taking our business somewhere else.
Sandra
Tiramisu. The tiramisu is the perfect choice to end your Magna Pizza experience.
Orbis181
The best pizza around.. Lovely atmosphere and absolutely YUMMY pizza. Thin crust, moist on top, dry at the bottom. Just as should be. Enough toppings without being overloaded. The best pizza for me and all my friends at the table in a long, long time.
Wogboy
Best pizza in freo .... like being back in Naples !!
Sandra Bolton
Diner from Mandurah. Went to new venue The Mantle. Magna Pizza is one of the restaurants. Great pizzas, made to order with cheerful service. Don't forget to have dessert - choice from delicious cakes, tarts and tiramisu. Definitely worth a visit.
Asha
Perfect Pizza. New pizza restaurant that is well priced, byo and full of atmosphere. And the traditional pizza is perfect too, with a few simple ingredients, perfectly chewy base, flavoursome and light. What more could you want? Get in before it gets too busy to get a table
