Always enjoy the food here. They are obliging when I have special dietary requests.
The best Thai food around service also excellent.
Overall rating: 3.5
Was craving some Asian food at my 5 day stay in Geelong and decided to go for this popular Thai restaurant. There was ample seating but very empty.
My favourite were definitely their mains: their Pad See Ew and Pad Thai, and Chicken Green Curry. Sides were pretty average. Flavours were spot on but tasted cheap. Plating was quite average. The satay skewers would be a nice side to share.
Loved the option being able to choose the level of spice for each dish, which staff did well as you could taste the different levels of chilli for each dish.
Pad See Ew was exploding with sweet, savoury and a touch of sour flavour as well as the spicy from the peppercorns hiding in this colourful rice noodle dish. Beef was cooked perfectly and was juicy.
Pad Thai was just as good but there was just a bit too much sauce on the plate and too much noodle that it almost tasted as if there was no seafood on the plate. Pad Thai is a bit on the sweeter side compared to other restaurants but was still enjoyable.
Overall, could be better, but was a very filling and hearty meal.

A great 👍🏾 restaurant and the food was really really good from entree to mains couldn’t fault it-a must if you want Thai in Geelong....good wine list as well
Had the panang curry to takeaway and the flavour was excellent. Service was prompt & friendly and the atmosphere was quiet and nice! Will be coming back.

I visited Geelong and found this place for dinner from rating app. Restaurant easy to find. Environment very nice. Staffs friendly and food serving reasonably quick. Ordered curry dishes and soups. Food tasted sweet. Offering from taste of curry dishes expected.
Came by for a late dinner when we were on a round the bay trip, driving down to the Peninsula, ferrying across and driving back to Melbourne CBD.
Not too bad Thai, great service, good flavours, and very crowded on a weekday night. Good choice for dinner if you're ever in town.
Absolutely delicious! Thoroughly enjoyed chicken pad satay stir fry and duck panang red curry with coconut rice.
Kanitar Thai Restaurant 5/5
We love Thai food and this restaurant is definitely up to scratch. The dishes were tasty and flavoursome. The staff were friendly also. A place we would recommend for anyone in the Geelong area.
Big fan of Thai cusine. I had heard good reports about Kanitar so went there for my Birthday with Family.
The meals were beautiful. One of our party has a number of food allergies and they were only too happy to accomodate her meal requests. I had the Whole Baramundi in Red Curry sauce. Was delicious.
Restaurant was typical of a Thai restaurant. It was comfortable and clean. Wait staff were pleasant and attentive without being intrusive. My only disappointment was there appeared to be no Dessert options. Maybe there was a separate dessert menu? Not sure.
Was a very nice evening. Pricing was good. Would recommend.

Excellent Thai food that's close to authentic (for Australian standards anyway haha) and served with fresh ingredients. So many Thai restaurants in Geelong lack the flavours that Kanitar have in their recipes. One of my regular places
Nice, big restaurant, gives the couple up to parties of many feeling of privacy! Wide selection of food on the menu. Food was very tasty and service was friendly, thorough and fast! A lot of good Thai restaurants in Geelong, this one definitely challenges!!!
The best Thai restaurant we ever had in Australia 💓
Delightful food 👍🏼 Friendly staff 👍🏼 Reasonable prices 👍🏼
We had delicoius Tai food for dinner from this place. I was told that plain rice and few dishes would be better choice than the fridge rice options they have and it turned out to be true.
Great food, quite an extensive menu. 5 stars would be given had all the food arrived at the same time, but it was busy and they did seem a little under-staffed. However, the table-spacing is good - I absolutely hate it when you are so crammed-in it's impossible to have a conversation. Not here, though.
I'd advise eating early to avoid a wait, but the food is definitely worth the visit. Just the right amount of spice, fresh vegetables and piping-hot.
Great food. Service is a bit up and down. I'd go back.
Best tom yum in Geelong, bit salty and sour taste of phathai but overall very nice dining
