Five stars because this place is exactly how you would expect it to be. Friendly, country and great food. Fish and chips were awesome. How awesome? A few days before I had the same at a Seafood restaurant on the coast here in the city. The Scottalian did it better. So definitely a stop if ever in or on the way through Bindoon.
A nice pint of cider & beer (brewed locally) went down well last Sunday. A nice selection of food in the restaurant watching the sun go down. The staff are friendly and the hotel has good parking in front.
Quiet little country pub. Beer was cold and not a bad selection. Beer wasnt cheap though. $11+ pints. Food was cheap, but very,very simple. Steak sandwich was OK but certainly not gourmet. Had steak, cheese and onion in a turkish roll. No salad or anything similatlr, but $16.50 and tasted good. Will be back again... but perhaps not for the steak sandwich.
I've been wanting to visit this place for ages.. I'd seen the sign just before Bindoon as I'm usually heading for the Bakery (but it was packed).. I thought "why not" have a look at the Scottalian Pub.. Its only 5km further out of Bindoon on the right, just before the New Norcia turn off..
Its quite nice in here.. A group of locals here sitting watching the horses on the telly, and a few more sitting near the bar.. They take bookings for dinner and theres plenty of seating for large groups too..
Scottalian? The owners are Scottish and Italian..
Turned up early for lunch. The place looked empty but sign said open. On entering the staff welcomed us and made us feel welcome. Ordering early meant food took an extra 20 minutes but it was well worth the wait and allowed us to talk. The pork belly had good crackling and all meals were very well cooked and tasty to eat. We all enjoyed the interaction with the staff and the opportunity to talk amougst ourselves. The place ended up moderately full before we left. A positive atmosphere.
Well what can I say it's a classic country pub.
If are passing through Bindoon you should stop in. Great selection of drinks and food.
The menu is set very well with something for everyone. Never had a disappointing meal yet. Just remember you're at a pub not a Gorden Ramsey restaurant!
Portions are a good Fair size and pricing is great!
It is set like a steak house style menu and plenty to chose from.
Child friendly with a large outdoor area if you have kids bring a ball and they can run around the grass section while you play a game of pool or just enjoy the area.
