Review Ohsso - Glen Waverley

Highly recommend the Korean Fried Chicken (garlic soy) and Japchae (sweet potato noodles) at this place; it's one of the best I've ever had! Desserts are also lovely, and the general vibe is great. Will definitely be back.

First time there for lunch on Tuesday. It was reasonably busy with the store around 80% full. We ordered some boneless chicken, bimbimbap, some corn cheese, soup and one of the beef wrapped enoki mushrooms. Chicken was cooked excellently though "original" is a little lacking on any sort of flavour. May be should have tried one of the flavoured ones. Stone pot rice was just average. The corn and cheese was excellent though portion size perhaps a little small given it really is just corn kernels and cheese. Everything else was just average. Very reasonably priced though.

Pleasant atmosphere, good service and delicious food. The place gives an authentic Korean vibe. Ordered Rare Beef Bibimbap. It didn't take too long for the dish to arrive however the second dish took a bit longer. The bawl is heated and it was still quite hot after waiting 5 minutes. Bibimbap exceeded my expectations. Incredible amount of fresh ingredients presented very neatly. I left feeling satisfied.

Beautiful food! Relatively well priced pending on the meals. Very filling, full of flavour. Made me a fan of Korean Cuisine!

Come on man!! $17 for this? The chicken to capsicum ratio was absurd and straight up overpriced! Well, price aside, the teriyaki chicken barely tasted like "teriyaki" chicken but more like just pepper with no flavour existant and the mushroom was overcooked even before I started eating. Only good thing about this place was the Patbingsu which filled me up more than the main eventhough it was still overpriced for the size of it.

Finally one restaurant with no purple rice (I know it's healthy, just taste different.) The beef is really good, better than the pork.
Duong Truong
Place had great food with no waiting time (4 oclock on a Saturday). Very flavourful and moderate cost.
Arman Riazati
Good kr food, reasonably priced. Environment is clean and inviting, warm enough atmosphere. Good staff. Decent deals for students.

Corn cheese: The texture of it is on the watery side. Not enough cheese and corn.<br/><br/>Kimchi pancake: It was served in small size pieces instead of one large pancake. It was crispy and enjoyable to eat.<br/><br/>Galbi stew: Came with side dishes and a bowl of rice. The broth was not as thick as we were expecting and the flavours were very light.

I wish I could be polite, but this restaurant is the furthest thing from that. Manger and staff have no respect for their customers. Ruined my birthday, and our night out. If you’re looking for a below average restaurant, with the worst service in Melbourne, I can recommend this. To the owner of the restaurant - train your staff to have some basic manners, more than happy to discuss this with you in detail. What a waste of space on Kingsway.

Worst service I have ever received at any establishment. Came with a group and left before we even ordered because the waitress was so so rude. Would not recommend.

Used to be one of my favourite places to go for korean fried chicken. However, I found that the taste had changed in the recent months. The fried chicken had become more salty. I find that many restaurants do not maintain their standards. After a while, the salt content in their food starts to increase, which means that I have to look for a new place to eat.<br/>Like the spicy pork kimbab but the kimchi strew was not that good.

Dinner at Ohsso Korean. Concrete neon and wooden deco reflects the young trendy clientele, though it reminds me a little of a night club but less loud and not dirty or sticky. This place wasn't here last time we looked...

I don’t know what everyone is talking about with the shoddy reviews about this place, but I came here for some korean fried chicken and let’s just say, it had me coming back within the same week.<br/><br/>Although the batter, you may find different from other locations, in my opinion, it is superior to the standard basic dry batters that other places utilise. The batter at Ohsso was Ohsso good! With a light airy batter which maintained is level of crispness throughout the entire time I was there. Within this golden batter, tender, juicy meat resided which broke apart with ease and had an amazingly soft, and satisfying mouthfeel.<br/><br/>If you ask me, I would highly recommend getting original chicken and sauce on the side for the best experience at this location. The sauce given, is plentiful and can easily be enough for an entire chicken. Keeping the sauce and the chicken separate, allows the batter to maintain crispness Which is a key element of the enjoyment.<br/><br/>Other side dishes I tried included the pork japchae, tteokbokki, fried mandoo and kimchi pancake, which were all okay, but definitely not the stars of the meal.<br/><br/>Personally, I think the japchae tastes similarly to the pizza I get at the local pizzeria, which messed with my head a bit and was a tad oily and salty for my palate.<br/><br/>The tteokbokki was better than I’ve had at other locations, which I am usually not the biggest fan of, but found this place pleasantly more savoury, rather than absolutely sweet which I enjoyed.<br/><br/>The fried mandoo, although vegetarian, was delicious nonetheless, with a great substantial texture inside, similar to meat and a beautiful crisp exterior.<br/><br/>Despite the side items not wowing me, I came here for fried chicken, and that’s what I received at an exceptional level, and for this, I will be coming back for the chicken again and again.<br/><br/>Peace out!!

*3.5 <br/>if you want Quick and tasty Korea food then give this place a go. When they say the dish is spicy.. they means SPICY! The devils Jokbal, was delicious and cooked well but the spice blew my mind! We also tried the fried chicken which was cooked to perfection but the batter wasn’t that great! All in all it was a good experience. Will be back to try more dishes!

Silken tofu (soondubu) tastes unlike how the dish should be tasted. I went for takeaway and the food is taken very long time to finish (over 15 mins) <br/><br/>The atmosphere of the place look chic and lovely and the waiters are very polite. But the taste should be improved. <br/><br/>For the price of $17. I don’t think I will be back. (The big menu in the shop front written $14 where menu over the counter said $17)
Donnali919
The spicy pork dish really nice and really spicy. The kimchi toufu soup is salty and the toufu is not the soft tofu. Fine and quick. Can come if I’m in rush

Hit and miss with the dishes. The beef brisket rolls were super bland, the bulgogi soup was average and the cheese used for the ddeokbokki tasted more like parmesan cheese, it wasn't right. However the bibimbap was quite good and the fried chicken was spot on - nailed the seasoning and texture. Service was ok.
An Nguyen
The food is quite bland to be honest. On one visit when we asked for only dessert, they insisted we have mains first as it is busy on Fridays during dinner time. We were there at 4pm on a Friday, and only one other table was seated, and the car park was empty.
S Zinger
Ordered the sweet chilli n soy garlic whole chicken, deobokki, spicy pork kimbap n matcha patbingsu for dessert (which was definitely way too much food for two). However, the food was really good, the sauce of the rice cakes tasted a lot more spicy than what I usually have but I liked it. It was also my first time having kimbap and I enjoyed it!! Overall good experience although we couldnt finish all the food. Would recommend!

🥓 ORDERED MENU 🍳<br/>Small Bunshik Set ($10) w/ Tuna kimbap + Ramen ($2)<br/><br/>🙆 WHAT WENT WELL 🥰<br/>✓ Food: I think this set is very well made! I love the variety that they provide, and the kimbap balances out the spicy, sweet Ddeokbokki. Mandoo was average, but their seaweed roll is very nice. Size of the whole meal is good, fills you up without overstuffing you!<br/>✓ Service: Very friendly and warm, pleasant interaction. Cute shop, with neon lights and friendly staff.<br/>✓ Value for money: I came with Eatclub promotion, so that brought the price down. For a quick meal that doesn't require you to stuff yourself, I think it's worth every penny!<br/><br/>🙅 WHAT DIDN'T GO SO WELL 😬<br/>× Food: Nothing in particular. While it was a very pleasant meal, it wasn't anything extraordinary.<br/><br/>🌺 FINAL THOUGHTS ☘️<br/>Definitely a good deal with Eatclub! I would be happy to come back for more if I'm in the area, whenever I crave variety in my meals!

Tasty Korean feast at Ossho!<br/><br/>The interior is nice, with some cute neon decorations on the wall. There isn’t a whole lot of room to feel comfortable, because you sit quite close to the table next to you, but besides that it’s a nice restaurant. Love the branding on the tables.<br/><br/>The food is tasty! The japchae has a great texture, and not overly soft which I like.<br/>The kimchi pancake was a little small for my liking, but nice and crispy.<br/>Really tasty ddeokbokki, and I loved that I could include ramen as well! It was quite spicy, but also had a nice creaminess to it.<br/>The fried chicken was nice, but not my favourite. I think it’s the batter, which isn’t the kind of crispy I like. It was thicker & didn’t coat the little crevices of the chicken, but rather turned it into more of a honey soy chicken sort of crust. I like that type of batter, but not on Korean fried chicken. The soy garlic was super sweet while the sweet chilli was quite spicy<br/><br/>The service was good but nothing amazing.
Natasha Awhsome
One of my go-to Korean food spots! Love the ambience and not to mention, the food there is pretty solid!<br/><br/>I've eaten there one to many times and I've got to say their tteokbokki is good! You can add cheese and ramen for the ultimate tteokbokki experience 😍

I ordered the deep fried chicken giblets it was super oily and hard to chew on. I also ordered the jechea noodles it was like it was drenched in oil.
Cheryllsun
First time been there, there is a plastic thread inside the pot which I have ordered. I also order the grilled Korean pork set, the pork is so smelly and bad quality. Cannot say anything more. We have wait for long time and the environment there is one word-dirty.
Brian Kim
Ordered chicken teriyaki set.<br/>Atmosphere: 4.5/5 <br/>Food: 3/5<br/>Service: 2/5<br/><br/>Honestly, the vibe was nice and the food was acceptable. I thought the teriyaki was pretty bland, but the variety of sides help make it a decent dish. Service was subpar because all the workers looked like they wanted to neck themselves. Please smile — and also record orders down correctly. One of my mates got his proper order served only once the rest of us had finished our meals.

Such fantastic value lunch boxes and the food is so tasty and authentic! Definitely try the boneless fried chicken- so juicy and tender and covered in the perfect amount of sauce

I come here often as I live close by, this place is not bad. The food is average pricing for a Korean restaurant & it is quite tasty. <br/>Some foods:<br/>Bibimbap is quite nice, green tea patbingsu is amazing, chocolate patbingsu was not the best...<br/>Overall, a pretty decent Korean restaurant! <br/>
Rifan Thamrin
The only Korean food you can get in Kingsway but it's not the best you can get in the area. I think it's too pricey for the quality of the dishes. Although it isn't my favourite, you can still visit because the service is good and the portions are quite generous. Hopefully the food will only get better in the future.
Sancha Noranho
Went there for dinner with a friend and greatly enjoyed the lovely flavoursome food! Each dish had a while bunch of different flavours which made for a great dining experience

Chanced upon Ohsso as a few other Korean restaurants in the area were closed on the day (being a Monday). We had an early dinner and was in before the crowd, so the service was food service was very quick and staff were overall quite friendly. We ordered two bimbimbaps and a ddeokbokki and were provided the standard side dishes. We thought all of the food were done quite well and tasted authentic. The price was also reasonable compared to other Korean restaurants in the area. It was a chance discovery but we will be returning for more in the future!

One of my favourite places to eat tteokbokki, but not anything else sadly. I’ve tried a few of their other dishes and felt like they were quite average. <br/><br/>But, their tteokbokki is SERIOUSLY delicious. Be sure to add extra cheese! Their rice cakes are one of the softest I’ve had and with the melted cheese on top, it really does hit the spot!
WillEat2Eat
Have been eating the restaurant in CBD, and we decided to eat in Glen Waverley. Place is really comfortable and big enough compared to CBD.<br/><br/>We ordered Tuna Rice Ball and Marinated Beff Ribs - Medium Well<br/><br/>Love the rice ball! I can even eat the rice ball itself just with the side dishes lol. One more thing, it is joyful to make the rice ball. Marinated Beef Ribs tenderness is not consistent. Some of them are tough to chew on, while the others are tender. The good thing is the meat is really juicy and tasted delicious.<br/><br/>Overall, would really love to try their soup with the rice ball, of course.
Kevin Rolimpandoei
Tried this place and boy it definitely was worth it.<br/><br/>Ordered the galbitang, japchae, and beef ribs stew.<br/>The galbitang was heavenly, we kept on coming back to it and seriously thought of ordering a second one. The japchae packs a punch of flavour that was definitely satisfying.<br/><br/>The beef ribs stew was unfortunately a miss, but overall a great place!

Finished gym on Friday and in need of food which led us to the closest available place to feed our hungry bodies - Kingsway. Have not had Korean food for a while and it was only fitting to dine at Ohsso, a Korean eatery that had opened up a few months ago. Kimchi pancake - a little odd shaped and in need of more seafood bits that it's supposed to come with but still satisfying nonetheless.
Iris
My all time favourite from Ohsso would be the Kimbap. They’re easy to eat, perfect for lunch with friends or takeaway to eat on the go. Personally, I like my Kimbap to have less rice and more carrots, beef/pork (or other proteins), radish, egg or other fillings, therefore it was perfect for me!
The_littlehungrylife
Came here to celebrate my husband birthday. Honestly very disappointed!!! The food wasn’t the best quality, the dishes were quite bland and was no consistent. Some of our dishes weren’t hot enough and others were over cooked. The service is poor and I felt the staff weren’t very attentive. For the price I would have rather gone back to the Korean restaurant in Mitcham.
Thaon9362
Let's start off with the customer service was great!! Super friendly staff :) but the food was honestly just meh ... the prices are great but if the food was more flavorsome and more generous with meat portions for the rice dishes it would be banger. I want to finish on a positive note and say the food came out quick which was amazing. Keep trying to improve will come back in the future to try other food in the menu 😊

Decided upon this eatery as the nearby Thai place had a long queue. I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty their food were! I’ve been back 3 times in the span of 1.5 months and I can’t fault any dishes I’ve tried so far. The spicy pork kimbap and kimchi pancake are great starters. The bibimbap is as great as any delicious bibimbap I’ve ever tried in Melbourne. My absolute favourite would be the spicy seafood tofu soup, it’s full of flavour and seafood unlike other stores where their seafood tofu soup basically consists of 1-2 tiny prawns, lots of squid and 1-2 mussels. I was amazed by how generous they were with the amount of seafood in the soup. The only down side to this place would be their side dishes. They’re pretty stingy with their sides and would only bring them out once you’ve had your starter/main. I’ve yet to attempt to refill them but I doubt they would, based on the vibe and the way they serve their side dishes. It’s a shame as I’ve always been used to generous amounts of side dishes at various Korean eateries all around the world. Other than that, I’m still drawn to this place and would continue coming back for some hearty Korean meals.

Went to this one because the city one was real authentic Korean food only to be severely disappointed. Menus are different which isn’t an issue, but all the food is average. Ordered 3 dishes, all came 5-10 minutes after each other. Then received random side dishes half way through the meal... there’s better food for that price at the Glen.
Amyyyeats
The food was standard. The spicy pork had an abundance of veggies but not enough pork for my husband. The flavours were delicious though. My favourite was the soju mojito. So refreshing

Love coming here for patbingsu! 🍨 Although I have always wanted to try their watermelon 🍉 one but its never available as its seasonal 😭 Even though its $13+ the portion is a lot even for two people! I do wish though there was more condensed milk or an option to drizzle our own condensed milk! 🥛 This will be my go to dessert place to beat the summer heat ☀️

This is a fairly new place to The Glenn, its like a long narrow restaurant, yet still spacious enough <br/><br/>I’ve never had korean food besides KBBQ and really enjoyed it! <br/><br/>I had the Rice Cakes (added noodles), Kimchi Pancake, Cheesy Korean fried chicken and the Patbingsu for dessert! <br/><br/>The Cheesy fried chicken is soooo good but I got the spicy one and you really feel it the next morning 😅<br/><br/>I got the Matcha Patbingsu with redbean and it definitely was different flavours! My friend loves it but she’s had it before, it probably won’t be my next choice as I’m just not used to the taste <br/><br/>Prices are pretty reasonable too :)
Frances Qu
I got the mint chocolate pabingsu and it was a huge disappointment, the photos on the menu made it seem big with a lot of ingredients but for $13 mine was so small and other than the thin layer of chocolate on top and a mere scoop of mint ice cream and 2 flakes, the rest was just flavourless ice. Would not recommend if you’re looking for a nice dessert.

• Ohsso •<br/>What do you think when you think Korean, oh did you just say Korean bbq?... nah hunny there’s a whole other world outside of it. Ohsso has bought it to a whole new level out there with Korean cuisine. To fired chicken to bimpap to Korean sushi, I honestly fell in love on first bite. Price is so reasonable considering the serving size. They were even nice enough to put chicken sauce on the side instead of coating it. This place is ohsso yummy 🤤

I went here for lunch on a Monday. Food came out fast (5-10 minutes), and service was really good. <br/>I ordered the beef bibimbap which I definitely thought was good. It lacks some flavour, but I like that you can add your own sauces and make it taste exactly how you like. <br/>I also like that sides come with the meal. For $12.50, I think it is great value, as it was very filling, and tastes good.

They have quite an extensive menu, and everything I tried was really good, and one of the cheaper korean restaurants in Melbourne. Parking looks like it can get pretty hectic. I will definitely be back, and it may just become my go to korean restaurant.
Fat Panda
Ate here with a few friends.<br/><br/>Atmosphere seemed a bit stuffy. Might of been the pink lights on against the wall.<br/><br/>Service was good, polite and quick.<br/><br/>Foodwise - I enjoyed everything I ordered. Need to go back and try some other things now.<br/><br/>Not your typical korean fried chicken as this place uses a wet batter. Tasted nice though. The dumpling rice cake soup was alright, korean dumpling tasted better than a lot of other places I've previously have visited. Corn cheese was really nice, creamy and a nice sweetness to it but not overly sweet.<br/>Kimchi pancake was nice too, not drenched in oil like most places. Kimbap was very refreshing.<br/><br/>If you haven't already - give this place a crack!
Lily Tang
I mainly come here for the spicy rice cakes tbh. The rice cakes r covered in the rice cake sauce and it’s sooo good. You can dip the kimbap and other stuff in the sauce. The pork thing is pretty good it’s like kbbq but without the grilling process. The kimbap is pretty good I got spicy pork it’s not crazy it’s just meh. I also got chicken there and it’s really good I suggest coming with more ppl if u want to order the chicken because there I was there with only one other person and we weren’t able to finish it. The chicken is good
Laurdose
Great place for students because of the cheap prices. I got the teokbokki and Korean fried chicken. It was decent and tasted pretty good. I loved the KFC- the marinate was tasty and the serving was pretty huge. I'm not a huge fan of the atmosphere though, such as the lights and the tables feel dirty sometimes. I'd definitely come back because it's cheap and the food you get is decent. :)<br/><br/>

A really nice korean restaurant, definitely enjoyed our meal there. we ordered the fire chicken with cheese and the chicken grilled set. It came with some side dishes as shown on the photo. <br/><br/>The fire chicken was really spicy, so definitely a must for spicy lovers! We actually ordered it less spicy however it was still actually hot haha! However, It was so filling and yummy! <br/><br/>The chicken grilled set doesnt actually have much and won’t be able to fill up two people. So that set is not to share! The chicken was on point but the portions were iffy. And it also didnt even come with proper lettuce, it was more of a salad leaf. Would like proper lettuce with the grilled sets please! 😔
Ting Yeoh
Very kind staff and quick service. Did not have to wait for a table. I tried the beef bibimbap and I think it needed more beef. I felt that there was not enough. However the ddeuokbokki and japchae were very nice.
Ling Yap
This place dishes up good portion of Korean meals including street food. Had the pork belly grilled in a set costs $18 which comes with rice, salad and tiny side dishes. The pork japchae is served in generous size with lots of vege. Flavorsome and reasonable pricing. Next time I'd like to try their Fried chic and fishcake skewers soup.

Good place for someone to have a quick Korean BBQ fix without walking out of the resturant stinking of charcoal. Meat are grilled in the kitchen on charcoal grills to give the meat that rustic Korean BBQ favour.
Eno
We ordered a red bean bingsu but there was hardly any red bean on the bingsu. We asked for extra red bean but they charged extra $2 and it was only a spoonful of red bean. Also, we ordered two bingsu and the other one came out 30 mins after the first one.. The taste was ohsso so so.
Kylie
Came here at around 3 in the afternoon, a very quiet time. We ordered ddeokbokki, half soy garlic chicken and a lunch box from the lunch menu. The ddeokbokki was as delicious as ddeokbokki can be, and not very spicy unlike some other restaurants, so you can fully enjoy the taste. The chicken was hot, juicy and tender, yet still crunchy on the outside. And the lunch box with bulgogi meat was delicious and very worthwhile, only $12.50 for the entire box which would fill one person up. It was only $40 in total and we were both very full, so very worthwhile. Decent service, great food.

First impressions are good. Nice clean and warm layout with some kitschy knick knacks at the front counter. Wasn’t crazy busy but bustling as we were a bit early for dinner.<br/><br/>Service is attentive and friendly. Food and drinks came out relatively quickly and didnt have many issues. <br/>We ordered the bibimbap, spicy beef rib stew and the sweet chilli boneless fried chicken.<br/><br/>Chicken was good. Tender and juicy and the sauce was good but i thought it had a lot of sauce. I like my chicken to have a bit of crunch still. Bibimbap came with pork and was delicious standard bibimbap with a raw egg. Spicy Beef stew was written for one but was huuuuge. It was super spicy and sweet and the beef fell off the bone. The potatoes ans carrots were also really tasty. Couldnt finish it though!<br/><br/>Overall it was enjoyable and keen to try other dishes next time!

Came here for dinner with my family on a Tuesday evening and ordered the original kimbap, pork belly & fire chicken with cheese.<br/><br/>Shop interior was nicely renovated & the entire restaurant was mostly filled with people. Seemed like a really nice place to have food & catch up with family/friends.<br/><br/>Food was decent, except the kimbap didn’t seem like it was freshly made, the ingredients tasted dry. Would have been really yummy if it wasn’t premade in advanced and refrigerated for a long time.<br/>Pork belly was nice & had a nice dipping sauce along with it.<br/>Fire chicken with cheese was the best amongst all the dishes we ordered, in my opinion.<br/><br/>Would appreciate a more generous portion of side dishes!<br/><br/>Nevertheless, would revisit.

My sister and I ended up in Glen Waverley yesterday for a super late lunch at 2pm.  We hadn't been to GW for quite sometime and was amazed to see a number of new eateries. We decided to try Ohsso.<br/><br/>🔆LOCATION🔆<br/>Conveniently located on Kingsway where the hub of all eateries are. Parking is abundant and very close to Century City Walk should you wish to go bowling or see a movie.<br/><br/>🔆SERVICE🔆<br/>The staff was friendly and very efficient. As we arrived around 2pm the restaurant was very empty and we were attended to quite promptly and food came out very fast as well.<br/><br/>🔆MENU🔆<br/>They have a huge selection of options. <br/>I wasn't feeling too hungry so I ordered 2 entrees and my sister ordered a soup.<br/><br/>Beef Brisket Roll - 5pc, $12.00<br/>(Enoki mushroom, bean sprout, perilla leaf wrapped in beef brisket drizzled with sweet soy sauce)<br/><br/>Pork Steamed Mandoo, $8.50(Korean dumplings with pork, potato noodle, onions, spring onions and cabbage)<br/><br/>Kimchi Jjige (Pork), $13.00 <br/>(Korean spicy soup made with kimchi and pork)<br/><br/>🔆PRICE🔆<br/>The price for the three items we ordered were quite reasonable. Definitely affordable given the quantity and size of the servings.<br/><br/>🔆VERDICT🔆<br/>It was a lovely surprise to see the Beef Brisket Roll and Pork Steamed Mandoo to come out in a bamboo steamer basket. Nice presentation but obviously they didnt use it to actually steam the food.<br/>Unfortunately the Beef Brisket Roll was a total let down. There was absolutely no flavour at all and the beef was over cooked making it hard to chew the meat. Even dipping it in the sauce that was provided did not help to get any flavour. The Steamed Pork Mandoo dumplings was a quite bland. My sisters Kim Chi Pork Soup was very spicy but lacked flavour. As we were both quite hungry was just ate everything and left. Overall we were very disappointed in the quality of food.

Too sweet!! I don’t think their kitchen have any salt ...everything is sweet... Two stars for the beef salad. Won’t be here anymore...terrible night

My favourite place in Glen Waverley.<br/><br/>Mediocre service but there's lots of options, it's good, and it's relatively cheap. My partner says the cold noodle soup is quite good.

Very disappointed... I made a booking over the phone for 16 people for dinner at 6:30pm. I repeated so many times and I don't think the person on the phone understood and kept repeating what I had said to make sure he got it right. But somehow he mixed up 3:30pm and 6:30pm? How does that sound the same over the phone? I also gave him my phone number just incase there was a problem with the booking, and he managed to write that incorrectly too. There was nothing they could do to fit a large group in because other tables were booked or full. Please retrain your staff members with how to take a booking from over the phone. I hope this does not happen to your future customers.

Walked into ohsso at around 10:30pm on a Saturday. The vibe of the restaurant was very chill. And the customer service was welcoming. Have tried ohsso Glen Waverley several times and they've never failed to have a smile on their face or just at least acknowledge you when you raise your hand up if they see you. The food was awesome, honey soy chicken wasn't overly flavoursome or bland. It was just right. The cheese corn was very oily but it tasted like a little piece of heaven, the cheese buttery taste mm mmm mm! The dubokki was awesome a delight. Tried a soup also, can't remember which one but it was a nice warm addition on a cold day! Good chill vibes, good eats, good customer service. I enjoyed myself here :)

Went for the first time. Really nice and clean place. Portions are on the smaller side for the tteokbokki and beef bulgogi. But flavour was nice. Ordered the kimchi soup and another one (can’t remember the name) and kimbap and tried the patbingsu in red bean. Serving was fast. Kpop playing in the background so woop. Patbingsu (the shaved ice part) was so nice and creamy yo. Gave us side dishes and water. Defs recommend.

The food was quite nice and the wait staff were very friendly. I liked that there was a seafood option for the bibimbap. Must come back again to try other dishes on the menu!
Flying Forward
A lot more variety on the menu here than the CBD street food style store. <br/>The bossam is cut a little thinner to my liking, and this particular piece of pork belly has quite a bit of fat through it. Comes with essentials like salad, kimchi, preserved shrimp, fresh chilli and garlic, and ssamjang. <br/>The kimchi mandoo dumplings is also satisfying, with thin skin and a tasty kimchi filling.<br/>Chive pancakes were pretty crispy as well, but a little on the small side.<br/>A little bit disappointed by the boong oh bbang - the dough is pretty thick and goey, not really crispy and filled with canned red bean, served with a cheap vanilla ice cream.<br/>My Korean friends were disappointed by the drinks, which were meant to have flavoured ice popscicles stuck into the drink, rather than blended with that flavour. <br/><br/>Either way, I'll be back to try the stews and noodles.
Vengchou Taing
Foods were nice, friendly staffs, good for non spicy people, I would recommend the rice cake to be more spicy. Kimchi kimbab was the best so far.

My friend and me Never had this bad experience before, after eating whole night can’t sleep because of stomach pain!!! Plz don’t serve any food off to ur customers, especially pickles
TimInMelb
been here 3 times now - staff are friendly, food is fantastic, decor is modern and bright, music is modern. it is rare to find a "spicy pork" dish that is as spicy as the one I tried here - it was awesome.<br/>My 3rd time there, I had the "spicy blood sausage dish" (pictured) - delicious, though looks nothing like the picture in the menu. I couldn't really see the sausage meat in there. We also had the baby octopus (pictured).<br/>I noticed they give "a 5% discount for cash if the order is over $30" - technically I believe may be illegal, as they're charging about 4.8% charge for CC.<br/>Otherwise this is a great place.

No. Of Visit: 3<br/>Rating: roughly 3.5 - 3.8<br/><br/>Truth to be told, this Glen store is many times better than the CBD one (I've a strong urge to just leave the review with one sentence like this, considering this is the dominant thought I'm having... but hey, gonna inform the other foodies right?) <br/><br/>Must try: <br/>Lunch special menu - end 3pm - great money value <br/>Appetiser - beef brisket rolls, omelet roll, rice balls<br/><br/>If you like spicy hot food, don't miss "Spicy Pork Cartilage", it's finger-licking good. <br/>

first time trying out this place! great menu selection with simple decor! definately one of my new favourite korean spots! deokbokki and fried chicken are a must!

A nice place in Glens. Thought the food was alright , I really liked how there was a seafood option for the bimbibap so I was happy with that. We were quite full after eating everything 😂
Streaky Eats
Short story: Welcome to a restaurant that overinflates obvious and countable food items in pictures only to underserve you.<br/><br/>This is a restaurant that abuses disclaimer and deliberately misrepresents the food with pictures of the food that are allegedly "outdated".<br/><br/>The picture may show a dish having 3 dumplings, but rest assured you'll only be served 1! The manager will then claim that a reasonable customer should have FIRST read the disclaimer before ordering.<br/><br/>Try going to a restaurant and order a "side of chicken wings" with a picture that shows 6 wings and be served only 3 wings.<br/><br/>Long story: Came to the restaurant today for lunch, browsing the Dosirak section and when I saw that the Beef Bulgogi came with 3 dumplings, I felt the dish had good value so I ordered it. When the food came, I noticed it only came with 1 dumpling and 1 seaweed roll, which wasn’t even part of the picture. I kindly asked the staff to check for me and wanted to exchange that seaweed roll for 2 dumplings as seen in the picture.<br/><br/>After a couple of push backs from the staff, the manager/owner approached and each time I explain the situation he just rudely cuts me out and points to the disclaimer on the menu that says “The images are representative of each menu item and actual serving of food may differ depending on seasonality and availability.”<br/>1. Yes, it’s common for restaurants to use the disclaimer “images are for illustrative purposes only”, but to an extent to say that the actual food may not look exactly like the picture, which is reasonably fine because it still contains ingredients as shown. E.g. we don’t expect a McChicken burger to look exactly as illustrated on the menu, but we do expect it to come with a chicken patty, lettuce, sauce, etc, and not be something so obvious and countable as to the number of dumplings. Why not just put a picture of 10 dumplings and only serve 1 dumpling? I wasn’t even asking for your food to be cooked to LOOK exactly like the picture, presentation-wise.<br/>2. Second part of the disclaimer says “actual serving of food may differ depending on seasonality and availability”. Having ingredients unavailable due to seasonality like certain seafood or fruit is understandable provided the message was conveyed to the customer before the food is cooked or served. It’s just dumpling with meat so I don’t see how seasonality would be applicable to this instance and it is definitely available.<br/>3. Back to the second part of the disclaimer, it is mentioned “actual serving of food may differ DEPENDING on seasonality and availability” instead of just saying “actual serving of food may differ”, in general, but I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt to say that it can be interpreted that way. Similar to above, yes, actual serving of food may differ when you talk about something less obvious and countable like rice/noodle/salad. But when deliberately used to protect yourself from liability when the product is shown to come with 3 dumplings, and you only serve 1 dumpling, that is just very bad practice. Again, why not put a picture of 10 dumplings and only serve 1 dumpling and explain to the customers that you have such disclaimer to protect yourself?<br/><br/>It is the way how, you, the manager/owner responded to the issue that was very unacceptable.<br/>1. You didn’t even apologise and kept pushing me to the disclaimer to protect yourself.<br/>2. Constantly interrupting me when I talk.<br/>3. You then tried to save your ass by saying the picture in the menu was old and that it was going to be changed (again, is this the customer’s problem or restaurant’s problem that you failed to update your menu to fairly reflect proper representation of your food?). Also, I came across people’s photo on Zomato with the same dish served with 1 dumpling posted 5 months ago, still trying to explain that the menu was supposed to be changed?<br/><br/>A very disappointing visit to an otherwise promising eatery. Let down by extremely poor customer service/hospitality, and extremely poor approach to handling customer complaints.

This is non sense, they ask $3 for the side dishes when you refill 3 times. And not serving them until the main dishes came( yes, not even entry or soup) <br/>And beef bulgugi? <br/>That’s beef mince bulgugi! This is the worst and way over charged Korean restaurant in Melbourne I have so far. <br/><br/>Please guys. Do not come if you want a nice and happy meal. <br/>

My family and I ordered bibimbap, boneless fried spicy chicken, and bulgogi. All of the foods were very tasty, however the fish cakes weren't all that good a bit tasteless and boring. The bibimbap was very nice, the fried chicken was juicy inside and covered in a spicy sauce and the bulgogi was marinated and cooked really well.

The best thing about this place was the service. The staff were really friendly, it didn’t take too long for the food to come out and tried to get a table ready as soon as they good. The food was ok, the fried chicken was good but a bit soggy, the pork belly was not great, it was bland and not well cooked.

We came here for an after dinner snack/dessert so we only ordered the original kimbap and the mango patbingsu. <br/>I don’t know if it’s because they’re still new and trying to find a proper way to serve but the service was terrible. It took way too long to get a servers attention as they were prone to looking down or away. When we were seated, we were handed food menus but I had to specifically ask for a dessert and drink menu. Once ordered it took almost half an hour for the food to come out. It was quite a long wait for entree food. <br/>The food was average at best. I probably wouldn’t order the original kimbap again as it was quite plain and there was no flavour. The patbingsu was alright, but I’ve had better. At least the mangoes were sweet. <br/>The range on the menu was quite large but if it tastes the same as what I ordered, I probably wouldn’t recommend it.

Food is very average to honest. Waitress is very lazy and not attentive. If you are craving for Korean friend chicken just go to Bon/kimchi hut instead as it taste better. The problem of this restaurant is no side dishes come with each meal and serving plate for sharing unlike other Korean restaurant. You need to request each time for it which is annoying especially if the waitress is not attentive. I wouldn’t come back again for bad services and very average food.

if you're looking for a place to satisfy your KIMBAP cravings in melbourne, defs come here!! We got the spicy pork kimbap and oh boyyy, it was sooo satisfying :')) it also came in the 'large set' with the spicy rice cakes + 2 dumps + 2 seaweed rolls for $18, so worth!!!<br/><br/>We also got the silken tofu soup, and my friend said they've had better tofu soup than this. It did have a strong seafood flavour to it, and the shrimp wasn't that fresh but overall experience here was good!<br/><br/>They even gave me a free mochi icecream when we left so that is a bonus

I’m loving this place! Nice vibe, very friendly staff and good food. The menu offers a diverse range of Korean goodies which will bring me back for more! I have tried the japchae, kimbap, tteokbokki and gimmari. The japchae was delicious and very well portioned with heaps of meat and vegetables. The gimmari was also very nice and crispy! The tteokbokki however was a let down due to the small serving size and soggy/overcooked rice cakes but still being quite pricey ($10). The kimbap was nice but the rice was cold and hard. Their desserts are a standout too. I especially love the watermelon patbingsu/shaved ice. Presentation was great with heaps of cute and juicy watermelon balls! The mango version is not bad too. <br/>Overall I enjoyed my meals here at Ohsso. Will definitely be back to try out the rest of their menu!

Food is average, services is terrible, ordered soup and keep been told to wait for 3mins for few times. At the end we just cancel it. Will not visit again.

Beautiful Korean fine dinning place, in average going out 5 times a week and live near glenwaverly is just so easy :) 2 people dinner is around $100(big eater like me) great Korean flavoured and with modern twist, love the very well made and cute deco desert...will back here always 😋

Want Korean food for quick lunch in Glen Waverley and saw the new Korean restaurant. Places are spacious, service ok.<br/>I ordered Beef bulogi bento. Looks so so ~ portion is ok but the side dish deep fried sushi is weird and also the salad. Beef not special and a bit overcooked.<br/>I think there are better choices in Glen for $12.5 for lunch.

I thought this Korean place served up some really good Korean food. Great menu with heaps of options. Traditional dishes with the traditional drinks. I loved everything I tried the flavour packed a punch and some great balanced sauce.

Loved the spicy chicken platter. Definitely coming back. The food was fresh and well cooked. I also liked the interior of the restaurant. The staff was cordial and friendly.
The Walking Foodies
Nice interior and attentive staff. Went for the the large share plate and original bibimbap. Ddeokbokki was spicy, great to dip the Tuna Kimbap in the sauce. When ordering the Tuna Kimbap I assumed it would be fresh tuna, I was a little disappointed it was tinned tuna and not as tasty as anticipated. The original Bibimbap was as described a mixed bowl of rice and vegetables, we maybe should have added a meat or seafood to the dish for more flavour.

Food: 🌟🌟🌟<br/>Meats were a little dry in our teriyaki chicken plate and beef bimbimbap dish. The spicy sauce did enhance the flavours however the heat was barely noticeable. The kimbap tasted stale and had little flavoring. Portion sizes were small overall.<br/><br/>Service: 🌟🌟🌟🌟<br/>Service was quick and prompt. Staff responded quickly when signalled. A small note that the food did not come out all at once.<br/><br/>Price: 🌟🌟🌟<br/>Slightly higher priced for the quality of the dishes.<br/>

Pros: service was exceptional, top bloke! Bibimbap was fresh and scrumptious. Fried boneless chicken had right amount of crispiness and flavour!<br/><br/>Cons: corn cheese was average but other than that not sure why this place has some poor ratings.

This place has absolutely beautiful food at a very reasonable price. I am a big fan of korean food, and I used to frequent kimchi hut, which is another korean restaurant in glen waverley, but OhSso is a lot more reasonably priced for comparable food.<br/><br/>Definitely recommend!!!!! I don't post ratings very often but this place deserves 5 stars and all my support

Really good clean well priced Korean food. Quick and easy. Bibimbap is delicious, potato noodles really yum. Venue is large and accomodating. Staff young and friendly. Music is on trend hip hop but not off putting or loud if you aren't into it. Definitely on the local return list.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The food was not very good. Today i decided to go to kingsway and try out this newly opened restraunt. I regret it instantly. I would not recommend this place.

Awesome food and a great atmosphere! Make sure you try the steak rib plate set and the pork cartilage! <br/>Tried the matcha ice dessert which was a refreshing finish to the meal

I really enjoyed our Sunday lunchtime meal here. Ohsso has opened in what used to be Waya Japanese restaurant, which has moved into larger digs.<br/><br/>The refit has opened up the dining space and it feels less cramped. I really liked the decor. It feels modern and inviting.<br/><br/>Our 3 dishes arrived quite quickly, with gracious and efficient service. The lunch time deal is really quite good value. I ordered the spicy chicken iteration, with pickle, Kim chi, rice and a dumpling or two. The spicy chicken is not incorrectly named. On my hotometer, it rates a good 8.5 out of 10, and I'm used to spicy food. I didn't expect it to be as close to my limit as it was and as such, it required a more patient approach to ingestion.<br/><br/>The potato noodle dish was super tasty, and the rice cake and fish cake dish had a really balanced sweet heat to it.<br/><br/>All up, this restaurant has great potential. Lovely atmosphere and nice, efficient staff. I have the feeling that things will only get better here. Looking forward to take the rest of the family here to try the fried chicken next time. I'd give this a higher rating, except for the fact I'm coming back and I want to have somewhere to go.<br/><br/>Edit... Having now read all the reviews so far... My thoughts are that this place had a difficult start, hence the poor current rating. It seems they've now got things on track so it's worth coming now. Good service, good food and fairly good value.<br/><br/>Definitely worth a try.

Not sure why this place has such a bad rep 🤔 I can only assume they made a few adjustments since opening and now have managed to deliver fairly decent meals. I did heard the food was a huge disappointment upon the initial opening of the restaurant - but safe to say going there after a month or so was definitely a good experience!! <br/><br/> The good: the galbi tang was a hearty meal with a great balance of flavor without being too oily. The meat was on the tougher side but i personally enjoy it more that way. The mushrooms wrapped in the meat (pictured) was a unique option to regular korean restaurant menus. It was my first time trying that kind of dish and it took me by surprise with its deliciousness. I loved the tteokbokki sauce! Though the rice cakes were a mushy let down. Also, i forgot to take a photo but the doenjang jjigae is one i must recommend- not your typical jjigae but still very tasty. And finally, fried chicken had a crispy layer with juicy meat inside. The spicy marinade is a sure fire winner.<br/><br/>Lows: only thing would be the bibimbap - was just quite average and didnt get the crispy bottom layer i really love.

Service was great, but the food was subpar.<br/><br/>Unfortunately the stews we got were too light in flavour, at some points we thought it was just chilli powder in water. Not for those who want an authentic Korean meal. Sadface, had high hopes.

Only came here to drink their beer on Monday night. It's pretty decent, beer cups were cute cus they had measuring ratio for soju and beer mix (for *so-mek*). Ohsso tap beer went down our throat pretty nicely and although air conditioning was quite poor, we got used to it 😁 Their signature dish- chicken giblet was pretty good, but it was spicy 😵and small in portion 😬 I shall come back here to try other foond nek time 😋
Curiosity
A new and unfortunately dissapointing addition to Kingsway.<br/><br/>The service and ambience was lovely but the food was just bad. I ordered the MARINATED BEEF RIBS SET which came with a small portion of shriveled up kimchi, extremely soggy rice and wiltered woolies salad mix. The beef ribs themselves were overcooked to the point where you could not chew the meat off the bone. My friend ordered the JAPCHAE which was alright, not great.<br/><br/>I would NOT recommend trying this restaurant, or if you must, not ordering the bbq sets.

Really loved my experience here. The japchae dish was my favourite. Also loved the fried chicken. We went on a super busy night and yet service was still great, we were attended to straight away. Would recommend to anyone wanting great tasting food and a lively, fun atmosphere.

I Very poor is my impression of this place. The waitress rushed us into ordering then tried to grab the menu from me. Then she doesn't know what they have in the seafood bibimbap. I had to request that she go to the kitchen and ask. <br/>Then when the food was served, there's no egg in the bibimbap. My son asked where is the egg and she just looked at the stone pot and said hmm ya there's no egg. And she left. Is this how you treat the kids when their parents are not around. You bully them. <br/>Simply unimpressed. <br/><br/>Oh I forgot to mention they only gave a small bowl of kimchi and it tasted funny.

We ordered:<br/><br/>Ddukbokki<br/>Japchae<br/>Kimbap<br/>Kimchi jjigae<br/>Boneless Fried Chicken <br/><br/>We wanted to try different dishes and we weren't disappointed. Friendly environment and kind staff. :) We shared the five dishes amongst the four of us. My favorite was the japchae which was delicious and a generous amount of, a friends favorite was the ddukbokki, and another friends favorite was the chicken. So it's safe to say that all of them were equally tasty.

Great service and food is amazing! Friendly staff. Highly recommend the japchae and the fried chicken! All food goes well with the beer on tap.

I like the atmosphere , friendly staff , the food is poor, ordered the fried chicken (Tasteless) average consider one of the worst , tasteless and burn, also the music is so loud.<br/>food price is average around 25-40 dollar perperson.<br/>

Pork Bulgogi Lunch Box ($12.50). The pork was delicious and cooked nicely. Just a little less onion would have been better. As well if there was a bit more kimchi and some dressing on the salad. Overall the mandu (dumplings) were perfectly cooked-crispy and hot inside.<br/>🍴🍴🍴/5<br/><br/>Just a tip the minimum on card is $30 and there is no split bills. As well be careful on surcharges.<br/><br/>If you pay on card there will be a surcharge of 50 cents. Which accordingly is now banned since September by the ACCC. Not sure why the business is still following this.<br/><br/>Businesses are not allowed to charge surcharge by dollars. It is by a certain %, guided, and not more than what the bill costs.<br/><br/>You can read more about it here https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/excessive-payment-surcharge-ban<br/><br/>So if you get charged, let them know.

Newly opened korean restaurant with woodern seating. Friendly service and a lively atmosphere.<br/><br/>Sides are average. Fishcake tasted charred with onions, kimchi is spicy and the pickled raddish is well made. <br/><br/>Deep fried chicken is average. Batter is minimal and same goes with the crunch. Garlic soy flavour is lacking.<br/><br/>Pork belly set is a let down. Meat is overcooked and plain. Otherwise, well presented.<br/><br/>Original kimbab is average. Compact but filling. Would have been nice of there was some sweet sauce. <br/><br/>Highlight of all would probably be the sweet potato fries. Lightly battered and the inside is soft.

I hardly leave reviews as I just brush off small dissatifactions. However, this by far is the WORST non authentic Korean food ever.... DONT GO HERE. NO VALUE FOR MONEY. I ordered a meal close to 20 bucks which served nothing but 2 strings of squid and grilled cabbages in an unseasoned sauce with NO SIDE DISHES. KOREANS ALWAYS HAVE SIDE DISHES. Also.. i wouldnt even complain if the vegetables were fresh... but they have all wilted..... <br/>I really question if they understand what true 'korean cuisine' is.... because saying this is korean is misleading and deceiving for ppl who are trying korean food for the first time here. The chefs seriously need to go to korea and study how to cook properly. Because flavour, quality and quantity is all off! What a shame to the country's reputation!<br/>Also..... staff need serious training 😒 the service is terrible and they dont address questions. In fact they shoved us over to take their things out of our chairs to go home.

Food ranged from below average to average.<br/><br/>Service, on the other hand, was appalling. After being seated, it took a while to get my orders in as the staff are not every attentive. Then, when the food was served, there was no cutlery provided. So we had to wave around a bit before one staff member said "sorry" then she walked off and didn't come back. After trying to get someone else's attention for 5 minutes, another waitress came and served us. Then we wanted to order dessert - similarly, the first staff member looked at us then she walked off. I was quite shocked at her attitude. But even the other staff around did not pay any attention to us (i think there was about 5 at the time). Then after we finally got our order in, one dessert came but not the other. After waiting 15 more minutes for the other one, we came to the conclusion that they forgot about it so we wanted to cancel and pay. But as we approached the counter, they said "oh we forgot, you can sit back down". By this point, we were too tired and sick of the place to argue. Then it took ages to make, even though its just shaved ice with toppings...<br/><br/>Overall, I would say that the staff lack experience in hospitality, where we felt ignored the whole night. Because of their unprofessional attitudes, our dinner went on for much longer than it should have. Unfortunately, I will not be visiting this place anytime soon.
Why_would_you _come_here?
Ordered: fire chicken with cheese, beef bone soup and watermelon makgeoli<br/><br/>Firstly, I'll have to mention that this place was aesthetically pleasing. Now, for the negatives:<br/><br/>Upon receiving our fire chicken dish, we found that it lacked the appropriate amount of chicken for what is supposed to be a meat dish. I swear there was about half a chicken breast in there mixed with an assortment of vegetables. Even then, the chicken was a little dry. The "fire" sauce was however, satisfyingly spicy. <br/><br/>The beef bone soup turned out to be less than a soup and more so a concentrated beef cordial, it was sickeningly sweet and thick. The bowl was about 20% filled with the syrup and was decorated with incredibly tough cuts of beef ribs. Frankly, the only edible part of this dish was the tteokbokki slices that were scattered around the "soup"<br/><br/>My girlfriend said that watermelon makgeoli was okay, at least. <br/><br/>Little to say it was a pretty surprising experience, given that the restaurant was pretty crowded despite the quality of the food being absolutely abysmal. If it weren't for the makgeoli, I would give this place a -1/10.<br/><br/>If you want Korean food near Kingsway, go to kimchi hut instead. They have more sides and deserve your patronage so much more than this establishment.
