I don’t know what everyone is talking about with the shoddy reviews about this place, but I came here for some korean fried chicken and let’s just say, it had me coming back within the same week.
Although the batter, you may find different from other locations, in my opinion, it is superior to the standard basic dry batters that other places utilise. The batter at Ohsso was Ohsso good! With a light airy batter which maintained is level of crispness throughout the entire time I was there. Within this golden batter, tender, juicy meat resided which broke apart with ease and had an amazingly soft, and satisfying mouthfeel.
If you ask me, I would highly recommend getting original chicken and sauce on the side for the best experience at this location. The sauce given, is plentiful and can easily be enough for an entire chicken. Keeping the sauce and the chicken separate, allows the batter to maintain crispness Which is a key element of the enjoyment.
Other side dishes I tried included the pork japchae, tteokbokki, fried mandoo and kimchi pancake, which were all okay, but definitely not the stars of the meal.
Personally, I think the japchae tastes similarly to the pizza I get at the local pizzeria, which messed with my head a bit and was a tad oily and salty for my palate.
The tteokbokki was better than I’ve had at other locations, which I am usually not the biggest fan of, but found this place pleasantly more savoury, rather than absolutely sweet which I enjoyed.
The fried mandoo, although vegetarian, was delicious nonetheless, with a great substantial texture inside, similar to meat and a beautiful crisp exterior.
Despite the side items not wowing me, I came here for fried chicken, and that’s what I received at an exceptional level, and for this, I will be coming back for the chicken again and again.

Ordered the sweet chilli n soy garlic whole chicken, deobokki, spicy pork kimbap n matcha patbingsu for dessert (which was definitely way too much food for two). However, the food was really good, the sauce of the rice cakes tasted a lot more spicy than what I usually have but I liked it. It was also my first time having kimbap and I enjoyed it!! Overall good experience although we couldnt finish all the food. Would recommend!

✓ Food: I think this set is very well made! I love the variety that they provide, and the kimbap balances out the spicy, sweet Ddeokbokki. Mandoo was average, but their seaweed roll is very nice. Size of the whole meal is good, fills you up without overstuffing you!
✓ Service: Very friendly and warm, pleasant interaction. Cute shop, with neon lights and friendly staff.
✓ Value for money: I came with Eatclub promotion, so that brought the price down. For a quick meal that doesn't require you to stuff yourself, I think it's worth every penny!

Definitely a good deal with Eatclub! I would be happy to come back for more if I'm in the area, whenever I crave variety in my meals!
One of my go-to Korean food spots! Love the ambience and not to mention, the food there is pretty solid!
I've eaten there one to many times and I've got to say their tteokbokki is good! You can add cheese and ramen for the ultimate tteokbokki experience 😍
Such fantastic value lunch boxes and the food is so tasty and authentic! Definitely try the boneless fried chicken- so juicy and tender and covered in the perfect amount of sauce
I come here often as I live close by, this place is not bad. The food is average pricing for a Korean restaurant & it is quite tasty.
Some foods:
Bibimbap is quite nice, green tea patbingsu is amazing, chocolate patbingsu was not the best...
Overall, a pretty decent Korean restaurant!
Chanced upon Ohsso as a few other Korean restaurants in the area were closed on the day (being a Monday). We had an early dinner and was in before the crowd, so the service was food service was very quick and staff were overall quite friendly. We ordered two bimbimbaps and a ddeokbokki and were provided the standard side dishes. We thought all of the food were done quite well and tasted authentic. The price was also reasonable compared to other Korean restaurants in the area. It was a chance discovery but we will be returning for more in the future!
Tried this place and boy it definitely was worth it.
Ordered the galbitang, japchae, and beef ribs stew.
The galbitang was heavenly, we kept on coming back to it and seriously thought of ordering a second one. The japchae packs a punch of flavour that was definitely satisfying.
The beef ribs stew was unfortunately a miss, but overall a great place!
My all time favourite from Ohsso would be the Kimbap. They’re easy to eat, perfect for lunch with friends or takeaway to eat on the go. Personally, I like my Kimbap to have less rice and more carrots, beef/pork (or other proteins), radish, egg or other fillings, therefore it was perfect for me!

Decided upon this eatery as the nearby Thai place had a long queue. I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty their food were! I’ve been back 3 times in the span of 1.5 months and I can’t fault any dishes I’ve tried so far. The spicy pork kimbap and kimchi pancake are great starters. The bibimbap is as great as any delicious bibimbap I’ve ever tried in Melbourne. My absolute favourite would be the spicy seafood tofu soup, it’s full of flavour and seafood unlike other stores where their seafood tofu soup basically consists of 1-2 tiny prawns, lots of squid and 1-2 mussels. I was amazed by how generous they were with the amount of seafood in the soup. The only down side to this place would be their side dishes. They’re pretty stingy with their sides and would only bring them out once you’ve had your starter/main. I’ve yet to attempt to refill them but I doubt they would, based on the vibe and the way they serve their side dishes. It’s a shame as I’ve always been used to generous amounts of side dishes at various Korean eateries all around the world. Other than that, I’m still drawn to this place and would continue coming back for some hearty Korean meals.
Highly recommend the Korean Fried Chicken (garlic soy) and Japchae (sweet potato noodles) at this place; it's one of the best I've ever had! Desserts are also lovely, and the general vibe is great. Will definitely be back.
Pleasant atmosphere, good service and delicious food. The place gives an authentic Korean vibe.
Ordered Rare Beef Bibimbap. It didn't take too long for the dish to arrive however the second dish took a bit longer. The bawl is heated and it was still quite hot after waiting 5 minutes.
Bibimbap exceeded my expectations. Incredible amount of fresh ingredients presented very neatly. I left feeling satisfied.
Beautiful food! Relatively well priced pending on the meals. Very filling, full of flavour. Made me a fan of Korean Cuisine!
Finally one restaurant with no purple rice (I know it's healthy, just taste different.) The beef is really good, better than the pork.
Place had great food with no waiting time (4 oclock on a Saturday). Very flavourful and moderate cost.
Good kr food, reasonably priced. Environment is clean and inviting, warm enough atmosphere. Good staff. Decent deals for students.
