Review Nudels 'n' Wraps - Glen Waverley

Came in for lunch to Danny’s for a couple of times during my break and I must say the service is outstanding and the food is super delicious! All dishes are prepared freshly on the spot. The kitchen is super busy but at the same time, every step is executed in such an efficient way that you can enjoy your food within 10 minutes of ordering! Enjoy

The food didn't wait long to be served. However the portion is small and not for a hungry person. Fried rice wasn't tasty, and KL Hokkien mee too sweet. Teh Tarik could be better. CKT & Hor Fun, not fussy could passed.

Hidden gem hawker style restaurant. We enjoyed the beef rendang with roti, curry laksa, char kway teow and teh tarik (only hot variety). The pork trotters in sweet vinegar sauce was also very well done, not too sweet with good braising. Would highly recommend to those seeking an authentic Malaysian experience. The restaurant itself is basic but clean and has only a small team so it is mostly self-service - order at the counter and collect your bowls, cutlery and glasses. Food is brought out to you as it is ready. There is also complimentary hot Chinese tea.

Great varieties of Malaysian/Singaporean food. Quick service. Absolutely love the Asam laksa and vinegar pork trotter.

A mixture of hits and misses, but leaning towards more misses. Popiah was overloaded with cucumbers making it a cold dish. Should be more of the yam bean and a nice warmer dish. At the price point, really felt shortchanged. KL Hokkien mee, Hokkien Mee and Fried Mee Siam were nice but not amazing, lacking that little pmbit of flavour that would push it across the line. Rojak needs to have You Tiao and Tau Pok which just compete it. Probably the most uncomfortable was the fact that the restaurant was extremely cold. The back door is wide open letting all the cold air in. Just wanted to finish up and leave.

Very humble little place that has quite a few surprising goodies. Things that I recommend include their asam laksa, char koay teow & har mee. I'll be trying others soon and will update my recommendation accordingly. The uncle is very nice and courteous. Update: I've just had their "wet" popiah. It's YUM! Highly recommend you try it if you're from Malaysia or Singapore. It's only available on weekends, between 11am - 2pm.

No dress code, not hiding. Looks like a food court in SG and Malaysia style. Good smell from the open kitchen which my dishes is frying in the pan. The owner are very friendly and helpful. Place are clean.

Authentic Malaysia food. Thumbs up! Came back for har mee soup (prawn noodle soup) and mince pork noodles. Very nice!

My family comes here frequently and I always order the egg gravy noodles (not sure what they're called in Chinese) - they're delicious! We're Malaysian, though I was born in Australia, and Danny's Kitchen never disappoints when we want a taste of home.

Summary<br/>One of the most authentic Malaysian hawker places in Melbourne. Highly recommend the Ipoh Sar Hor Fun and Char Kuey Teow.<br/><br/>Background<br/>I’m Malaysian Chinese, having lived in Kuching for ~10 years. I have been visiting Danny’s very frequently over the last ~5 years.<br/><br/>Keynotes<br/>1.Danny is very accommodating of customised orders – feel free to change noodle types/add extra things/upsize things<br/><br/>2.The Ipoh Sar Hor fun is what I order 9/10 times. The soup makes it what it is – real effort is put into the chicken/prawn broth. <br/><br/>3.The Char Kuey Teow has a healthy amount of charring (most times – although sometimes it is a little under)<br/><br/>4.The Rocking Combination Hor Fun is also quite good
Jin Lee
Must have the char kway teow, flat egg noodles with mince pork, hor fun, stir-fry prawn noodle and fried chicken wings!!!

Authentic Singaporean fare, great option if you're really missing food from home - wok hei was great. Self ordering at counter, limited seats especially for big groups so visit early ahead of lunch crowd. Char kuay teow needed more heat, not spicy enough but was otherwise good. Mee pok was fine but not memorable according to wife. Portions much smaller than expected, given price point.<br/><br/>Tip: plenty of 1P parking outside but if you need longer parking, check out the side street nearby - 2P available.

This is a pretty impressive place. The food is good and the restaurant is always spick and span. <br/><br/>I reckon Danny cooks up one of the best char kway teow in town. It has the prerequisite wok hei and the correct ingredients - no out of place buk choy or cabbage here. The wat tan hor is drenched in delicious egg gravy and slides down the gullet easily. <br/><br/>Another hidden gem!

Serving authentic Malaysian cuisine, the fragrance from their fried rice or vermicelli is irresistible! The soup base of the Laksa is rich and delicious. Highly recommend their Ipoh chicken and prawn Hor Fan noodle soup, it’s a dish you could finish the whole bowl without hesitation.<br/>This restaurant has good reputation among the locals. It’s always full among the lunch time.

This is definitely one of the most authentic Malaysian/Singaporean eateries in Melbourne! All their kuey tiaw dishes are excellent, and my favourite is Char Kuey Tiaw with chilli. 👍👍👍

I first sampled Danny's cooking at the original Penang Coffee House, around 40 years ago. He refused to compromise his standards there, and he still maintains those same high standards here (albeit in minimal-frills surroundings). His dishes are always characterised by a freshness of ingredients and subtle taste. The rendang is always superb, for instance. As to Danny's manner, he is very dignified and slightly reserved (which may be misconstrued by some as aloof). It is too long a drive for me, but is always worth the journey once I taste the food! Best Malaysian I have had outside of Malaysia.

3.5 to be precise<br/><br/>First of all, I’m quite surprised by the few reviews here that mention how rude and arrogant Uncle Danny is. We certainly did not get that from him when we went there for the first time. In fact, we found him to be humble, approachable and soft-spoken after a lengthy chat with him.<br/><br/>Now onto the food. We had:-<br/><br/>Char Kway Teow: best we’ve had so far!<br/>Mee Pok (Bak Chor Mee): has all the authentic elements right down to the pork fat, and the broth accompaniment was really good!<br/>Sambal Kangkung: lacked a notch of oomph<br/>Turmeric Chicken Drumlets: good marinade albeit slightly dry<br/>Teh tarik: too weak and milky<br/><br/>As the portions were quite small, we wolfed everything down in no time and Uncle Danny had the biggest smile on his face when he saw our empty plates.<br/><br/>We would love to come back to try the much talked about Singapore Hokkien Mee one day.

Happy with the food here. Ordered the rojak, curry laksa and assam laksa. All the dishes were authentic and delicious. Would have liked a little more fish in the assam laksa. Love that they have A&W Root Beer!

I have been a regular at Danny's Kopitiam (previously Nudels & Wraps) for many years and find that the food is really delicious. However, Danny the owner and chef does not seem to appreciate the custom; particularly when it is busy and when his restaurant is about to close. I went there tonight (4/7/2018) being a busy evening and ate our meals there. I wanted to get a takeaway and i got rudely told off saying that I have to wait. I waited and got to order a Har Mee and what was given to me was cold. Danny told me to heat it up when I get home. What type of service is this? We are bringing him the business as a customer and I have to put up with this. This is not the first time, my son and I went there a few months back (about half an hour before they close). He told me that he is no longer serving but can only have take away as the other chef needs to take the public transport home! Danny, you have just lose me and my family as your regular customers. I will never go back here again. If not for customers patronizing your restaurant, this place will not exist.

Jan 2019: Still taste as good.See that there is some new helpers. Keep up the good work!<br/>Oct 2018:Too lazy to cook, and wanted some Singapore favs, so here we come. I heard some good reviews from friends and decided to come. The Singapore fried Hokkien Noodle is really good. You dont find this noodle in lots of place and to do it well. I give them a thumb up. The Rojak lack of the fried dough which I totally loved..so a bit disappointed. The Mee pok is original and love the flavour. Lots of their usual customers around and Danny is a very friendly person. Love it.

Ordered: Char Kuey Teow<br/>One of the best tasting Char Kuey Teow I’ve had in Melbourne. Wok flavour was just right, noodles done perfect and not too much of the fried oil bits. Will come back just to order this dish again. <br/><br/>However, serving is a little bit small. Works well if small families want to order a dish per person though.<br/><br/>Teh tarik - Not too good though, wouldn’t order again. Also arrived a bit late.<br/><br/>Ambience: Feels just like a kopitiam in Malaysia. But there are few tables so I can imagine the wait on some busy nights.<br/><br/>Service: Staff was attentive, and did quickly attend to our needs.

Relatively decent Malaysian hawker/street food eatery away from mainstream Kingsway Glen Waverly and nestled in the Sri Lankan food precinct. The times that we've been there, the service was prompt. The open kitchen creates the welcoming whiff of the 'wok breath' upon walking through the door. A friend of mine commented that this instantly adds credibility to the place. I can concur with that but for certain menu items. Recommended is the char kway teow and Ipoh sar hor fun. They nailed it with those dishes. With the rest, I'm still convinced there's room for improvement. Curry laksa for example tasted a tad bland. <br/><br/>My suggestions for improvement - be more generous with the serving size, don't water down the Chinese tea (it's just tea bags) and add sambal to the self-service counter.
Julycheee
Love the wok flavour that they get into stir-fried dishes. The char kway teow had amazing flavour, but my only complaint was that it was a tad soggier than normal and perhaps under fried a little. Haw mee was delicious. The restaurant and its service is pretty minimal, but that is not too surprising as they serve up authentic and cheap hawker food.

Came here today to try with my partner. We ordered a sar hor fun and sambal rice noodles with a side of chicken wings. Also ordered teh tarik. The food was very bland and lacked flavour. The portion sizes was tiny for the price you pay. I received 1 prawn in my sar hor fun. I was also given a dirty look for asking for extra sambal. Teh tarik was watered down. It seems that the place is running a very tight ship in terms of costs as they had 1 box of tissues near where you get your cutlery from, for the whole restaurant. This place represents no value and the food is sub standard. The main server who seems to be the owner, looked very arrogant. Maybe thats his resting face. Plenty of other malaysian restaurants in the area that is more tasty and better value. Definitely wont be back.

Wow, the Singaporean noodles were really fragrant & tasted superb! Curry chicken & rice not bad, but I'm going for more noodles next round! Really, best I've tasted todate!

Was feeling like a lazy dinner home so got takeaway from Danny's through a groupon voucher which included 2 serves of curry and rice, 2 servings of noodles plus drinks and vegetarian spring rolls.<br/><br/>We had the spring rolls, singaporean noodles, chicken curry and I ordered the char kuey teow($13.50) as an additional dish to the groupon. Overall flavours were all quite good and servings sizes weren't bad either. However, it was a pity that we didn't get to try the kuey teow as soon as it was made as the noodles started sticking together by the time we got round to eating the food (we had it an hour after we picked it up).The highlight were the spring rolls which were crispy and fresh and not in the least greasy. It paired well with the sweet chilli sauce it came with and the serving size was generous (10 rolls!). I was also quite excited that they had kikapoo, a citrusy fizzy drink I had when I visited Malaysia. Overall the food was pretty nice, although with the competition for Malaysian food in Glenny, it probably wouldn't be my first choice for the cuisine in the area.<br/><br/>The fitting of the restaurant is small and simple but it is nice that you can see the chefs preparing your food for you. Out of my whole experience with Danny's, the stand out for me was definitely the service. The gentleman who served me was very friendly and also helpful. It isn't every day where you are served in such a polite and friendly manner, let alone in a frills-free establishment such as this one.

Visited here due to recommendations from friends. Tried the Har Mee (only average) and Singaporean Hokkien Mee (lacked flavour). Unfortunately will not be coming back  due the poor service we experienced (bad attitude toward customers). Average food but unacceptable customer service.
Willtravelforfood17
Pretty authentic Malaysian/Singaporean food here - one of the few places that does bak chor mee and does it well. Their Singaporean Hokkien mee is also pretty close to the authentic version. Would love to try their other dishes soon.

Delicious Malaysian food, couldn't be happier to eat here! The restaurant is clean and they have open kitchen which I like. My husband and I were really happy with our hor fun (been craving it for so long!) and we can tell that they didnt incorporate a lot of MSG so thats a plus. <br/><br/>The only thing is that they will often don't have certain dishes available on the menu at certain days, kind of disappointing but really not a biggie for us :) <br/><br/>Hats of to the chef, we will come for more!! <br/><br/>Dishes we tried so far: Combination Hor fun, Radish cake, Sambal Kangkung and Bubur cha cha (forgot to take picture of the complete dish) hehe.

I have been to Danny's multiple times... I enjoyed the food every time. I particularly love his kue tiaw noodles and won ton with dark soy noodles. The place is nothing fancy, but clean. The service is quick, not necessarily friendly though.

Most authentic Malaysian food in Melbourne. My family and I have been eating here for years, and the quality of the cooking has remained fantastic. Dishes come with that wonderful charred edge that you find at outdoor kopitiams in Malaysia's food capital, Penang, which very few restaurants in this city are able to replicate across an entire menu. Even our friends and relatives from Malaysia look forward to coming here when they visit. Yes, the shop is not as fancy as some of it's competitors, but it is kept in a clean condition and the staff are lovely. Some of our favourites to come out of Danny's wok are the Char Kuey Teow (have not had better, even in Penang), Mee Goreng, Combination Hor Fun and Har Mee. We have tasted far and wide but always end up coming back to Danny's. It never disappoints!

Had dinner a week ago with the family. Ordered Penang Char Kuey Teow (highly recommended by other Malaysian friends), Kuala Lumpur Hokkien Mee and Tofu Goreng. Tofu was good (4 stars) but was disappointed with the other 2 dishes. Kuey Teow (2 stars) was lacking taste and burnt smell (wok hei). Hokkien Mee (2 stars) was slightly salty and noodles were only half cooked. Both were fried the man himself cos I inquired. The service was however friendly and efficient.

Ordered the noodles dish mee pok from the menu. Noodles was nowhere close to the One Michelin star pork noodle shop in Sg. At least this bowl of noodles captured some of the flavours from home. The missing of pork lard and chilli sauce made it dull. Probably whack in those bits of delightful ingredients could give the noodle dish greater depth and flavour that it lacks.

I'll admit I'm not a huge fan of Singaporean/Malaysian but my wife is and she really wanted to try the Assam Laksa which apparently is difficult to find. It ended up being a very good decision and one of those hidden gem restaurants that people go on about. Yes from the outside it looks very plain but it's the food that is the star. I had the Singapore rice noodles which was a generous serving, had a lot of ingredients included and very tasty after adding some of their chilli sauce. This was washed down with my very first pulled tea which I will order again if ever I see it on a menu - a little bit on the sweet side so may not be to everyone's taste but suited me to a tee. Needless to say the wife raved about her Laksa. Plenty of options on the menu and a revisit is definitely in order.

As a Singaporean myself, I came here with high expectations and was very happy with what I got! I ordered my usual favourite of Hokkien Mee (the Singaporean version) and was not disappointed! Perfect serving size and near perfect flavours! Sadly, they had "run out" of teh tarik- which I'm still in disbelief about. My friend ordered the laksa which was also pretty spot on with its flavour! Will definitely be back to try more dishes!

I have visited Danny's countless of times and could not believe when I realized how I have missed blogging about this quaint little outlet. I sometimes take nearby conveniences for granted and only awake to reality in needy times such as when I am craving for hearty meals after an intense day. Friendly staff who are always attentive to our needs and never fail to put a smile on my face after a weary day.

'Danny's coffee shop', near as I can figure, 'kopitiam' translates to coffeeshop'.   It may well be, but it's so much more.  True, it's a very 'no frills' establishment, but that's OK.  Big friendly smiles when you step over the threshold.  On the wall there is a blackboard list of specials, on mini clip boards, are pages of other offerings.  <br/><br/>I'm guessing here that this is pretty traditional Malaysian food, only judging by our fellow diners.  I am no expert in Malaysian food, I only know if it tastes yummy or not, and that would be an affirmative - yummy.<br/><br/>Our lunch selection included the Boneless Chicken and Rice from the blackboard list.  Very most chicken with the skin on, cut into chunks, a delicious chilli sauce, a upturned bowlsworth of good rice, a slice of tomato, some greens and a bowl of chicken stock.  My idea of comfort food and our youngest enjoyed it very much - think Hainan Chicken.  Winner.<br/><br/>Our daughter spied a bowl of soup at another table so discretely asked what it was so she could have it too - turns out it's number 9 on the menu; Ipoh Sar Hor Fun, a prawn broth with hokkien noodles and rice vermicelli noodles.  Menu mentioned a boiled egg, but there wasn't one.  The broth was deemed delicious though Miss would have been happier if it had more spice - but her brother's chilli sauce helped there - personal preference, not sure where the egg went!<br/><br/>Number one son took about two seconds to choose the Roti Canai with Curry Sauce, after filling up at a movie already, but not wanting to miss out entirely.  He finished it well, and the curry sauce had good flavour and heat for him and the roti was very flaky.<br/><br/>The Lovely Man asked/told me we'd be sharing the 'new' Turmeric Chicken Drumettes.  They were the final dish to arrive, and were lovely, crispy pieces of chicken, the flavour of the turmeric came through well though, and somehow didn't stain our fingers.  Mr's other choice was Spingapore Hokkien Mee - well that was polished off in record time.<br/><br/>My choice was between the 'hor funs' and I ended up selecting Fried Rockling Fish Hor Fun - oh yum!  Initially I was concerned the 'gravy' was too thin, but the flavour of this gravy was second to none, a generous variety of vegetables too.  The only issue I had was that, while the noodles did have some char, they were also clumped together a little so some had no char.  Minor quibble, the flavour was there for sure.<br/><br/>My partner had a hot teh tarik and I had the chilled version.  They were OK, I've had better.  Perhaps this one uses either less or no sweetened condensed milk, which, in the one I've had at Flavours of Mekong, made the drink just a little sweeter and a bit more silky in texture.<br/><br/>The kids were surprised to see Grass Jelly Drink in a can, so had to try that, also they couldn't help but try 'Kickapoo Joy Juice' - a citrus drink the waitress was suggesting western kids wouldn't like, but, I am not sure why.  True, it's probably less sweet than lemonade and less fizzy too, but this was a rare treat for ours and they loved it....I mean, how could something titled 'Kickapoo Joy Juice' be anything less than good?  Note that unlike the Lil Abner drink of the same name, it is not booze.<br/><br/>  Help yourself to water and tea, cutlery and choppies.  Food's delivered as it's made, the exhaust fan when on, is so loud I thought there was  a street sweeper passing by.  I think it was probably our chicken wing order that had them turn it on or up though!<br/><br/>No doubt this is lovely food, I like the little chef's hats denoting 'Danny's favourites'  on the menu.  We frequent the nearby Hi Fin aquarium shop, and I can absolutely see us making a point of stopping at Danny's first wherever possible!
Michael
Really loved the rice dish I had. Was there today with some workmates, and was very impressed. Apparently it's about as authentic as you can get in Melbourne. Quick, cheap and tasty. The only thing I'd like to see is a BYO option. Some nice cold beers would go down a treat!

My girlfriend and I ventured out to Danny's Kopitiam this week and it was brilliant! The roti canai was crispy and satay sauce was excellent. The food is cooked well and thorough with excellent flavours that reminded me of the hawker food in Malaysia. Very friendly staff and quick service that made the whole experience really nice. It's in a unique spot in Syndal and the price is very reasonable for the large quantity on offer.

Will give -10 if i can. My twin 5 years old kids is looking at the menu and the waitress take it away without asking (Snatched) and told us scare the kids tear the menu. This is a Joke. So we left before even try they food. How can a good restaurant cant even let kids touch they menu book so i dont expect will be good food so we left! If u got Kids, Recommended not to go coz is not kids friendly!

This place offers Truly Authentic Malaysian food! I have been coming to Danny's Kopitiam (formerly known as Nudles and Wraps) for more than 11 years. All dishes are delicious across the menu. Flavour and quality are highly consistent. My top picks are Char Kuey Teow (extra hot), Combination Sar Hor Fun (with green pickle chilies) ; Kampung Fried Rice; Har Mee and Assam Laksa. Hot Teh tarik is my winter fav drink here. Their service is fast, friendly and efficient! Highly recommended.
Eric
This hidden gem has been around for many years. Always maintained their high standard hawker food. Tried their new fried radish or char kuay kak recently, was really tasty. And of course their signature sar hor fun or also called wat tan hor is probably the best Melbourne can offer. Always served by the friendly boss. 10/10 satisfaction every visit.

Shocking to say the least.  A terrible experience all round. Ordered tea and they microwaved it in a cup right in front of me. You have got to be joking?  Food was so beyond bad that I can't even describe it, as it would violate the zomato t&c's apparently.  Service equally terrible.  Really don't know what the high reviews are on about.  Lift your game people. I recommend this place to no-one.

Returned to Danny's recently after a very long absence, and I was glad to have done so. The food as I had remembered it was fine, much on par with some of the other Malaysian/Singaporean restaurants in my area such as Junior Tan and Kotajaya. Truth be told, I wasn't as travelled or as knowledgeable regarding Malaysian/Singaporean food way-back-when, so sampling some of Danny's dishes this time around was pleasantly eye-opening. I ordered the dish that is perhaps my general favourite--the Singapore Hokkien mee. Vermicelli was used instead of the traditional noodle, but the flavour and texture were pretty well done. The prawn flavour was very good, while the light prawny sauce/gravy was slightly on the runny side. The sambal was probably homemade, and it had a slight sour tang to it, but it made for a great accompaniment. as for the hor fun, not the best I've had in Melbourne, but it's probably not far away. The dish had a pleasant overall flavour that wasn't too in-your-face and salty. The wok hei was there, though I think more wouldn't go astray. Ingredients were quite generous too. I do agree with a previous reviewer about the serving of the noodle, which is cut short and clumped together a bit. In light of this overall experience though, I really can't wait to try Danny's other dishes. I just wish his opening times were a bit more agreeable.

Finally found some Malaysian tasty food, love the combination char hor fun, like they slice the meat thinly which very "Malaysian" style, I'm pretty sure it has squid on the menu but not on my plate, maybe out of stock and replaced by fish ball, however would be appreciated if they at least let me know. I think would be nicer if the hor fun noodle fried a little longer to get more "wok" taste, this is one of the closest Malaysian taste combination hor fun that I ever had in Melbourne.<br/><br/>Assam laksa very flavoursome as well, glad to see the "ginger flower" they used on top, can't recall what is the actual name of the herb. Good amount of sour and well balanced flavour.<br/><br/>The popiah lack of crunchy texture, maybe a little more of fried shallot would be good. The mix of chillies and sweet paste are balanced. Good amount of yam bean, but I think should squeeze the yam bean sauce out a little before wrapping up, the sauce soften the popiah skin too much.<br/><br/>Overall very satisfy on this visit, shall come back again to try other dishes.
Amy
What a pleasant surprise in the burbs. Great tasty well-priced Malaysian food. The actual place is a tad small so perfect for a quick weekday lunch. Had the combination hor fun, beed rendang with roti and fried rice with satay chicken. The hor fun was silky smooth, the beef in the rendang was tender and the roti was absolutely smashing, one of the best I've ever had - golden crunch outside and soft inside. The crunch is the perfect textural companion for the soft tender beef rendang. Service was super quick too which is always a big plus in my books. I left a happy woman. Gotta come back and try the other items.

good selection of msian/ singaporean dishes. I especially love the Har Mee and mee siam. Pretty authentic. Even my parents(who originate from Penang and are pretty fussy about food) loved it . you can also call and pick up take aways which is convenient. Very clean kitchen. we come here pretty often.

We have been coming to Danny's Kopitiam for over 10 years, since it first opened as Nudelsnwrap. We might try a new place for a while but always come back here. The food has always tasted fresh and healthy, the ingredients appearing of good quality, and dishes are never too oily or over-seasoned. As a family, our favorites are the Assam laksa (the absolute best in Melbourne!), har mee (5 stars), hor fun (superb) - not one but three(!) dishes I have yet to find the equal of in Melbourne, that is how delicious they are - plus the popiah ( sadly only available on weekends), beef rendang, roti wraps, satay fried rice, pipis, char kway teow... Cannot recommend the place highly enough for a delicious, good quality feed that will not break the bank. Hope to keep coming here for another 10 years:)

Good honest malaysian fare, no frills just tasty treats cooked by the owner.<br/>Atmosphere is a bot on the canteen side with smallish tables, self serve cuttleries and pour yourselves a cup of tea.

MeePok (6/10) was full of crispy pork lard but insufficient vinegar. Fried Kway Teow(6/10) seemed to be a hot favourite as it was seen on all tables but slightly lacking in wokhei. Kampung Fried Rice(6/10) was nice with heaps of super crispy anchovies. Nothing too fancy here.Another group of friends who were here the same weekend to try the pohpiah cautioned us to "don't bother" trying as they left their pohpiah half finished.

Bit pricey for what it is. That being said, their food is pretty good. I highly recommend their combination hor fun and the nasi lemak ( only available on sundays). Worth a visit if you are in the area.

char kwe tiaw was okay, straits cafe does much better, and other dishes was so-s0.<br/>i guess this considered not bad as not many Malaysian restaurant in glen-mount waverley area.<br/>But since the area is not really where the famous area in glen like kingsway, its a bit tucked away near the station, so we cant be bother to go there, since the food weren't that amazing.

First time here after checking on the review and rating. Had the har mee and beef hor fun, both are really great, very authentic Malaysian food but $14.50 for a hor fun is quite pricey. Will come back to try other food.

Suki and I have been going to this restaurant for a number of years. Love the food there. Authentic Malaysia Cuisine.  The price is affordable and quality is consistent. Owned by a family who really care about the quality of the food and customer's need... The food is way better than Franchise like Paparich.

The best Malaysian food I've had so far in Melbourne. Having seen the good reviews I went there with a lot of hope and I wasn't disappointed. We ordered fried tofu salad, roti, char kuey teow, salted fish & chicken fried rice, beef rendang, chicken curry and assam laksa. The roti was flaky and aromatic. The beef was tender and juicy. It was the first time I tasted assam laksa and I just wanted more. Everything was bang on. Authentic, fresh, hot and aromatic. Having lived in Singapore and travelled a few times to Malaysia, I've tasted a lot of good Malaysian food and I really couldn't find any fault with Danny's dishes. My friends who went with me also had a lot of experience with Malaysian food and everybody gave it the thumbs up. We spent less than $100 for seven people -- tremendous value for money. The owner told me they serve Hainanese chicken rice and popiah on weekends. I just can't wait to try these favourites!
Dave
Love the char kway teow, it's my absolute favourite! It's a lot less oily than other players. The assam laksa, prawn mee, sar hor fun is also very authentic and full of flavour.  Another one to watch is when Danny serves the cendol, unfortunately not all the time but it's really smooth.  My son loves the mee poh, and the food comes quickly.<br/><br/>I've been coming here for years since it was Nudel and Wraps, and it's consistently delicious!

Danny's Kopitiam is definitely my favourite restaurant for simple dining. Danny's fried kuey teow is the best of its kind in Melbourne. Although priced slightly higher compared to others in this locality, it is worth it. In fact, almost all items in the menu are worth trying. My other favourite dishes are the rockling hor fun and mee pok.
David Liao
On the little strip next to Syndal station. Used to compete with Nyonya hut, but since the chef left Danny's is much better than Nyonya. Serves traditional hawker Malaysia food.

First time here. Ordered the Singapore fried hokkien mee. Surprisingly quite authentic (with lard and all)! Love the chilli. Would be better with more gravy. A bit understaffed, but overall service wasn't bad. Food came quickly too! Would recommend.

Never had any issues with Danny's attitude. Surprised to read about that. He remembers me on my second visit (had to return to try more). Fried kway teow, kampung fried rice, combination horfun & mee pok are our usual orders. Recently we ventured beyond our usual orders and tried his chicken curry kapitan. So delicious! What a pity he did not highlight that as a must-try dish! Just don't be deceived by the looks of the shop from outside. This place is a hidden gem. Love his bubur cha cha & teh tarik. Not overly sweet. The way I like it!

I rocked up here about 5.30pm on a wed night and we were the only ones there. But we were treated really nice by the guy. Cooked our meals really quick and like normal Malaysian style we were able to make small changes to our meal like change the type of Noodle. I had the mee goreng hokkien style. It was pretty tasty I thought it could be spicier but other than that good. Ther was heaps of dishes I'd come bak for and prices were cheap too. Serving size was quite big so one meal can be shared for two. Overall thought it was great for a quick meal and owned go back there again

Food is below average, the boss has very bad attitude towards customers. Vow never go back there again. Heard similar comments from friends who visited the restaurant. <br/>

Tried the assam laksa recently. Not nice. Very fishy. Not sour enough. Not spicy . Did not have the authentic assam laksa taste Maybe the chef changed. Because the last review was a year ago.
Good Clean Food. If you require clean and authentic Malaysian food this is the place to go. Fantastic hawker cuisine

Good food. The food there is tasty and delicious and most of all its hygiene.

Home made delights. I tried the wonton mee (with noodles made by Danny) and handmade chendol dessert. Divine - haven't found home made chendol in Melbourne besides this place.

My Favorite Restaurant. Danny Kopitiam has been my favorite restaurant for years. It has scrumptious dishes especially the Malaysian dishes. The ingredients are always fresh and the flavor of the dishes are authentic and make me always wanting to go back for more, either for the same dish or attempt a variety of other dishes and it has been pleasantly surprise all the dishes taste really delicious so far. Over the years, I have taken my family, neighbors, friends, interstate visitors and international visitors to Danny Kopitiam, all of them have good comment on the food ordered and feeling very satisfied with the aroma and the genuine taste of the dishes meeting up with the expectation. I hope the Danny Kopitiam will continue to be consistent with the dishes and continue to operate for many more years to come so that I can keep on consuming the delicious food from the Danny Kopitiam. Thank you Danny for providing 5 star quality food.

CURRY LAKSA. The curry laksa there I had today was fantastic.<br/>The service was fast and friendly.<br/>The Kopitiam proprietor came up to chat with us and treated us with some dessert, bubur cha cha.

Just like home. The food here is authentic, just like Malaysia! The Combination Hor Fun, Char Kueh Teow and Mee Pok are excellent. If you can get it, try Danny's poh-piah - it's perfectly sized and priced too. I will definitely be back for more! :)
Josey
Try the char kueh tiaw!

Fine Fare, and Fast!. I've been enjoying a regular lunch or dinner at Danny's for some 6 years now. The service is fantastic, and Danny has a creative flair for whipping up amazing dishes using the freshest ingredients. The servings are really generous and there's no skimping (e.g. LOTS of vegetables with the noodles or rice). Your order is prepared in full view and is at your table within 5 minutes. Price is incredibly good, and the tea is free! The restaurant is always clean and tidy - no scraps left on tables etc. Clean toilets. Plenty of parking and lovely, friendly staff. Danny's is always the highlight of my dining week!

Best Char Kway Teow!. YUMM! I went to Danny's Kopitiam for dinner with my family. We ordered the Char Kway Teow, Ipoh Sah Hor Fun and Mee Goreng. This place has the best char kway teow hands down! Flavours are all rich and delicious but not too salty and the ingredients are fresh. Not only was the food great, but the place was clean, the service impeccable and Danny himself asked us if we were happy with our meal! Will be back again!

Danny's Kopitiam is my favorite Malaysian cafe in Melbourne. The food is always fresh and delicious, and the service is friendly. I especially love seafood curry laksa, har mee and rockling hor fun. Chicken rice, fried rice and singapore noodles are a big hit with my children. And of course, the desserts: fresh mango pudding, sago pudding and tofu fa. Can highly recommend it.

I really like Danny's Kopitiam, I have been coming to this place almost weekly over the past 8 years (it was Nudels&Wraps back then).<br/>In my opinion Danny cooks the best Char Keow Teow and Seafood Laksa in Melbourne. What really amazes me that the food is always at the same perfect level. My 3 kids are also hooked up on Danny's cooking.<br/>My advice for newcomers - try the food from the Specials board.

Best hawker food. Me and my husband like the food of Danny's Kopitiam. The service is quick and the food is very delicious and tasty. We find it hard to find good hawker food in Melbourne...Therefore, we usually end up eating at Danny.

Very clean place and food was delicious and authentic. We loved the fried kuey teow and popiah. We would recommend to our friends and family.

2014 Menu. Great ideas with the new menu for 2014. Pork sliders were great & the addition of sushi is ideal for a team lunch (Salmon sushi to die for!!). Plus Danny's happy service!!

Danny's has amazing food and great service. The combination hor fun is sensational. Prices are way too low compared to the quality and service received.

Above average. After driving past this little shop on Blackburn Road countless times, I finally decided to pop in and try the Rockling Hor Fun from the Specials board. I was initially a bit disappointed there was no egg in the gravy. However the noodles turned out to be very smooth & fried just nice. It went well with the lightly fried rockling & the sour green chillis. Quite a distinctive difference from the usual 花蛋炒河. Overall above average.<br/><br/>Furthermore, the waiter who served me was very friendly & cheerful.

Put's the city in Authenticity!!!. I was heading home, hungry, not know what to eat, hunting for random opportunity, as I do, and stumbled on a long group of shops peppered with cafes and restaurants. Parked and scanned the stretch and my attention was drawn to a sign that read “Malaysian Hawker Food”. Hmmm, that would be nice, if they can pull it off.<br/>The café was modest and looked very clean. There were the expected Malaysian staples on the menu and a few specials, so I ordered one of the specials “Seafood Laksa” and “Seafood Char Kway Teow”.<br/>Amazingly in true Hawker style, the food arrived in what appeared to be seconds. The texture, smell and taste were outstanding and true to the name. If the place was noisy and dirty, I would have thought I was in Penang or Ipoh. The dishes were bang on Authentic.<br/>The fellow “manager type” at the counter mentioned they do special dishes on the weekend, so, can’t wait till the weekend comes so I can go there and check it out!!<br/>@ $13/head for our dinner, this would have to be one of the best Malaysian Restaurants within a day’s flight.<br/>Service: Ultra Quick<br/>Staff: Wham Bam, here’s ya food.<br/>Food: Outstanding<br/>Wine List: Not Applicable<br/>Prices: WTF? Really Cheap<br/>Authenticity: I’m In Malaysia<br/>Coffee: Not Applicable<br/>Desert: Did not try<br/>Décor: Better that a Hawker Stand :)<br/>Entertainment: Not Applicable<br/>Last Word: No Fuss, No Muss, bloody good food for a few bucks. Can’t beat it!

I know Danny has the reputation of bringing Malasian food to Melbourne; but the few times I've eaten there, it has been extremely disappointing.

Happy Customer!. This small takeaway has honest friendly service and even better food. The restaurant was very clean and simple in its layout. We didn't have to wait long for the dishes to be prepared either. My favorite dish from Danny's Kopitiam is the Char Kway Teow. My family is from Malaysia (Ipoh and KL) It's been hard to good eats around town which replicate Malaysian hawker dishes as good as this place, and the Kway Teow is no exception. This dish is by far the best one I have tried in Melbourne. We also ordered the Hainanese chicken rice which was tasty as well. This was flavoursome, and the chicken was cooked just right. I'd highly recommend the beef rendang also, which is super tender and yum with roti or with rice. It's obvious a lot of time and effort has gone into this dish. The prices here are a little steeper, but the quality and standard is very high. If you're looking for great honest authentic Malaysian hawker food just like in Penang, This place is a little gem.

The best pulut hitam in Melbourne - creamy great texture delicious!!!!

Lunch. Went to this restaurant with some friends and I had the Har Mee which was excellent. My friends had the Hor Fun and the Char Kuey Teow - looked great too. Will try this next time. The owner Danny came and talk to us and gave us complimentary Bur Bur Cha Cha - very good and authentic Malaysian. He says that he has been cooking real Malaysian cuisine for 40 years and the food tastes it. Highly recommended

I've been there several times because its near my house. I would say, their food is quite authentic unlike other malaysian restaurants. I tried fried kue teow, chow for fun, penang laksa (not a single pc of fish can be seen), popiah, har mee. They are good but not consistently good. I love their bubor chacha and mango pudding (which they seldom have them). The prices are the most expensive malaysian food around. They are also very stingy with their chili. Order from counter.

Just go there for the food. Its authenticate. Dont go there expecting table service and decor. Very food court style. Its a bit pricey too. But if u really miss ckt malaysian style....
