Review Zucca - Glenelg

Olga Sukocheva
They prepared a very good vegan lasagne for my daughter. I had moussaka, very good as well. My husband had fish. All happy with those dishes. The view is perfect. We were sitting next to the window. It was very windy, so it was a great escape and possibility to see the he ocean. The restaurant was half empty, so did not have to wait for long. The main problem they have a very limited list of salads and they do not have good choice of sweet things. I wanted to order something fancy go with coffee, but they had nothing to offer.

Food was pretty good, i had the twice cooked duck which was absolutely superb and some of the best duck ive ever had and which also came with a bowl of mashed potato which was so nice and smooth and fluffy. My girlfriend had a bowl of moussaka which was a bit more disappointing, it came out as just this little tiny bowl with nothing else, tasted abit bland to be quite honest and my girlfriend actually felt a bit sick afterwards too, may have just been because the sauce was abit rich, i dont know, but the difference between the duck and the moussaka was massive, almost like they were made by two different restaurants. Our waiter was also a little hard to understand as she was Asian which is a bit weird considering you are in a Greek restaurant but still she was very friendly which is a lot better than some other restaurants. Anyway i would definitely recommend the twice cooked duck for anyone planning on eating at zucca, the prices are probably about on par with a restaurant at the marina pier, and you have the awesome view so its definitely worth a try for anyone looking for a half decent greek restaurant

Overall nice, friendly service and food with lovely views of the beach. However, apart from their delicious breads, felt the food was just ok n' unfortunately nothing special or different.

amazing food, big portions and swift, great service. solid 5 out of 5!! pictured: slow cooked lamb shoulder+ potato + cucumber sumac salad. dolmaties and fried olives

Ok food. Service ordinary. Good taste of cheese.

High quality meal and cocktails, with exceptional views. Would recommend being there to view sunset over Glenelg pier.

Amazing food, great restaurant with lovely atmosphere and views over the marina. Service was friendly and helpful. Very impressed seen as the restaurant has only been open a few days. Bit of a wait for food, but understandable on a busy Friday night. Such a wonderful mix of flavours. Would recommend to anyone, and I'm sure it will improve even more more with time

Lots to like but also has great upside. Great staff. Food was done on a char grill which was a plus. Flavours on the lamb and chicken. Yiros plates were too small for the price. Like a lot of the Pier, the restaurant looks tired and could do with a coat of paint on decorating to add to the overall experience.

Every plate was presented at it's highest potential, credits to Chef Lorenzo!

Very dissapointing, waiter wore old tracksuit pants, chairs had holes in them, calamari was undercooked and very chewy, moussaka was over cooked and stuck to side of dish, suckling pig tasted like mutton and was stringy (crackling was out of packet) , wine list was ok but it took us three orders to find one that they actually had. Avoid

Zucca has served some of the tastiest Greek food that I've had in Adelaide. Located in a prime spot by the Glenelg marina, this restaurant is a perfect spot for a romantic dinner date or formal gathering. <br/>The mezze dishes are a perfect way to get started and try a bit of everything, I recommend the moussaka.

Disappointing and Underwhelming!!<br/>We recently had dinner here and it was very disappointing and overpriced for what we received!! We ordered dips to start with which doesn’t come with bread, you have to order that as an extra.<br/>We ordered 2 mains, the slow cooked pork gyros with pork crackling (which was just some shredded pork, bread and a limp salad on a plate and no crackling as suggested). Unfortunately we ordered the lamb souvlaki but it never arrived so we shared 1 main between the 2 of us. They are supposed to be large serves but definitely not large!!<br/>We also ordered a round of drinks which never arrived. The staff were friendly upon arrival but that’s pretty much where it ended.<br/>Would we go back? NO<br/>

Me, my girlfriend her baby went to zucca for dinner a week ago. We were greeted by a wait staff in a bar and he pleased us to seat in the back facing the water. Two minute after a young lady with a short hair and wear glasses came to us and said that we can't seat there because it's been reserve. She said that not in a really nice way. And I checked the time, it was quarter to eight, and there were about seven empty table, I felt that something not right and she might told us a lie. However we moved to the front and have a seat. The service was pretty slow, it took 40 minute till the food served on the table. After we finished our meal I headed to the counter and spoke to the barman why can't we have a seat in the back, the barman said he doesn't know anything and he really sorry for the inconvenient cause. Then the wait rude staff came again to printed out our bill. As I paid the bill and leave the restaurant, that waitress didn't say thank you at all or encourage us to come back. I know this place was run by a man with a legend moustache. He wasn't there so I reckoned he sold the place.<br/>I definitely won't come back to this place..BAD

Went in on a Friday night, they let everyone sit in the back of house, the front door of restaurant looks empty...and food was really very average, won't go back.

Chicken skewer half cooked still bright pink in between. Asked the waitress and she said "everyone else is having the same, why are you complaining" No thank you, I'd rather sleep in tonight then go visit emergency. <br/><br/>Extremely poor service. Waitresses have got absolutely no idea what they are doing.

What a delight, you can smell the charcoal flavours from outside. The place is semi modern semi tired, but the waiters bring the place to life.<br/>We asked the waiter to bring out a mixture of food.Kefalograviera cheese with figs and walnuts drizzled with honey.<br/>The we had dolmades with a cream sauce that blew our minds, they were quite large.<br/>We then had perhaps the best prawns I've every had they were quite large and wrapped in kataefi and then fried with a base of beans and salsa type vegetables.<br/>If a that wasn't enough we had chicken and lamb Souvlaki skewers that were so soft and juicy, accompanied with Greek potatoes and pita bread <br/>Delish, that's all I can say, we were fortunate to have the owner and chef come to the table who suggested a mixture if sweets.....don't do it......they are insanely good. What a pleasure to eat there, just loved it and as authentic as it gets.<br/>Very reasonable too.

We booked Zucca months ago for my 65th birthday lunch based on past experiences. It's a pity we did not read current reviews. The restaurant was a bit dirty and all our dining chairs needed to be recovered. <br/>We ordered wine and 3 out of 3 were not available. We eventually scored a Chardonnay which turned out to be off. Thank god for the reds. <br/>Their food was great which went a long way to save the day. Unfortunately it is a sign of Adelaide's status at present, low economic activity, high unemployment. <br/>We won't book again until it lifts its game.

The food is delicious, and the ocean view is breathtaking, but don't come here if you're expecting good service. Our particular server was friendly and helpful, doing the best she could with what she was given to work with. However, the food itself took forever to get there. All the plates are designed to be shared, so we'd be sitting there staring at empty plates for half an hour waiting for the next course, trying to get the attention of any other servers (who were often standing around looking bored instead of helping people). We were there for almost three hours, which just isn't acceptable. A couple sat at the table next to us for half an hour, didn't get served and then left.<br/><br/>I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. Like I said, the food is great and the view is great - but the service and the experience is not worth it, especially if you're very hungry (which we were).

Had dinner here with my girlfriend and had a great time. Shaun the host and the waitress Paige were fantastic, friendly and accommodating.<br/>We had the the cheese and scallops for entree and salmon/lamb for mains. All were amazing!!! The lamb was great and the scallops were a genuine signature dish! Can't wait to go back, highly recommend!

Booked 3 months ago, they called the day of the booking and tried to locate me on a outside table. Asked for 2013 wine they bring me a 2014, i then ask for a 2014 wine and they bring me a 2015. Ordered the 7 plate mezze they bought all 7 plates in less than 45 minutes and the last dish which was chicken skewers were raw. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, very poor.

One of our favourite places to treat ourselves. We had the seafood platter and thoroughly enjoyed it. Service was great as usual. Only downside was that the cream kataifi wasn't available.

Zucca Greek Mezze is an upmarket Greek restaurant located on the stunning Marina Pier overlooking the beautiful ocean. The décor is simple and elegant with white table cloths, dark wooden chairs and crystal blue glassware giving it a Mediterranean look. Miss C had flown in from Sydney for a visit to see her friends and family for her birthday so A and I took her to dinner at Zucca Greek Mezze down the bay.

I have been here a few times now because I believe in second chances! Obviously any restaurant that overlooks the sea is a review within itself.<br/><br/>However, each time I have come here, I find that inconsistency seems to be present. <br/><br/>We started with a plate of dips, which were excellent, followed by scallops, delicious and perfectly cooked. Vine leaves filled with chicken rice were nice, but no real appearance of chicken and they were quite dry. Kataifi prawns were way overcooked and hardly any pastry on them. I love this dish when it’s done right, super crunchy outside and moist prawn inside, but this one missed the mark. I am surprised that this dish managed to get pass Adam in the kitchen, who was on for this lunch service. Eggplant roulade next, this is a nice dish but the lamb was incredibly strong, almost muttony! Overall most of the dishes were quite good, just need a bit more uber loving! <br/><br/>My good foodie mate and myself, noticed that the interior of the restaurant, the chairs etc, were looking quite tired. <br/><br/>Service was good but they did seem a little understaffed.<br/><br/>Zucca is on the pricey side of Greek tapas but I suppose that’s Holdfast Shores for you, it really is aimed at tourism and tourists pockets. For these prices you don’t want too many errors……

We were a group of five catching a late Saturday lunch on the waterfront at Gleneig. We had great service and a wonderful view of a stormy sea. My glass of rosé was crisp and refreshing. Three of us took the moussaka which was hearty and satisfying though a tad salty. The junior member of the party had the kid's lamb souvlaki and fries which looked tasty and she devoured with great relish. The last choice was the 12 hour cooked suckling pig gyros, and disappeared so fast I'm assuming it was a hit as well.

Booking made on the app, I've never booked online before. Very friendly waiters. Explained specials in Greek & English. Food came very fast - ordered potatoes, salmon and octopus. Potatoes were the best I've ever had at any restaurant. Salmon was tasty but had a few bones in it. Octopus was really nice but some pieces were chewy and difficult to eat. Overall I love this place. Can't wait to go back again!

Go home Zucca, you're drunk... Served RAW chicken, yep, raw! Then, no apologies, rude, argumentative(!). What's happened here??? Given only by demand some pathetic discount in return. Last 3 years it's rubbish... Just catching unsuspecting tourists? Far out.

Lovely views, and very enjoyable food. Service a little poor, but the flavoursome food makes up for it. There's nothing bad on the menu, so order up big, sit back and enjoy a great night out.

Been here many times with friends and family. You won't be disappointed with the food. It can take awhile sometimes. A range of Mezze plates but above average and nice views.

Zucca is perfectly located along the Marina, offering plenty of seating with water views. The service is quite attentive and helpful. The menu focuses on share plates, with many seafood and meat options. The food was nice, but not amazing. Dip and pitta bread were yum, especially the bread. It was well oiled up and slightly crispy.<br/>Scallops were also lovely but the serving was tiny. Four scallops for $25 seems a bit excessive. Decent, overall, but nothing to rave about.

I went with my husband at 6:10pm today and liked the desert menu. There were no other customers in the restaurant. We asked to sit down. The waiter said that we couldn't sit inside because we were only having desert and coffee and thus couldn't have a table with a tablecloth. We wanted to have 2 $20 desert platters, coffee and desert wine. Sadly, no go. We will not be visiting again.

We had lunch here on New Years Eve. We ordered the 7 course banquet and let the waiter choose the courses. He did an amazing job, he chose the most amazing food.  The cheese dish and scallops were divine! Such a shame I live interstate, otherwise I'd be a frequent diner.
Mandy Jayne
Very disappointing, booked a table of four for the N.Y.E Menu which was $120pp for 9 courses. We were seated outside which was a small space so crammed with people that we had to keep shifting to allow for people to get past. The food served was enough for two but certainly not four people and certainly not at $120 per head. Split by four this is what I received for this cost - three tiny triangles of pita with some dip, A slither of baked cheese, a single prawn with four lima beans, two pieces of calamari, half an overcooked lobster with two mouthfuls of meat on it and a stick of soggy asparagus, a slice of watermelon sprinkled with feta and pistachio and mint. A cut of lamb the size of a small childs palm and a quarter of a small baked potato, a single chicken souvlaki stick that was undercooked, fatty and half a carrot. The dessert plate was a single piece of turkish delight, a piece of baklava, a single biscuit and two single tiny slices of cake. We were expected to divide these by four? If this had been for two people I would have understood but what we received you cannot claim to be 9 courses worth...a single prawn does not count for a course. I was so embarrassed as the last time my husband and I invited friends here it was a lovely dining experience. I'm not sure if I can ever recommend this establishment to anyone again.

NYE banquet was amazing<br/>Dips, Greek cheese,<br/>Prawns and squid, lobster,<br/>Lamb, chicken broken up with wonderful watermelon salad.<br/>Then wow Greek deserts we rolled out!!!<br/>Staff were very friendly and attentive.

Went there last night with 2 friends. Lovely dining setting, amazing service, staff are attentive, great timing e.c.t. even though it was busy. Highly recommend doing the dips, amazing pita bread. To share we had the swordfish, SA calamari, chargrilled squid(super yum), scallops, kataifi wrap prawns, veg moussaka, and we shared the Metaxa fig brulee, super full! Its a place that everyone need to try.

Holdfast Shores is a busy destination!  Zucca's food is Greek, and it is a good enough restaurant with Linen.    We opted for the banquet @ $49 per person, which gave an option of 7 mezze plates.  Saganaki Cheese (1 slice, didn't come out looking too flash but tasted ok'ish);Scallops (4) - nicely cooked, on cauliflower puree - it was fine/pedestrian;lamb souvlaki on skewers (4 to cater for people at the table) - tasty and relatively tender, so rated good; chargrilled squid - always tasty charred - small in quantity, not generous enough for Banquet feasting; moussaka - good flavours though small deep square bowl, so per person, only got about 1 heaped tablespoon per person; kataifi prawns (deep fried in noodles) - prawns a good size, served on big white beans with a lightly flavoured creamy puree but was a plain flavour, because you sort of end up eating them separately - particularly sharing,  needed a  piquant drizzle over them.      Dessert was offered as the seventh dish and you got a flavour of each of their desserts  - maybe 5 portions of cake etc @ a size of 2" square  to be shared amongst four persons  -   that didn't work  - included in the dessert was a cube of turkish delight, and triangle of baclava, and three weeny cake portions  (like petite four size) so tricky to share.<br/>All up my recommendation is not go the banquet,  and choose your own,   after calculating everything on the plate   we could have save about $30 by not.<br/>On the upside of this restaurant,  the staff are great, attentive, busy but relaxed, they explain things clearly,  and it seems like they have fun.    I like the Linen Table Cloths, stemware and cutlery is ok.   Whilst they didn't rush us out of the place,  did feel there was a sense of urgency for no apparent reason.<br/>They did good decaf coffee in our short macchiato.<br/><br/>I would go back to this place,  it is the fourth time in maybe 3 years  and  their consistency was noted on the positive side of things.   Good for mezze grazing.

Having just returned from Greece, Zucca was the obvious choice of restaurant in Glenleg. Booking on a Spring evening, we we’re hoping for a warm evening - requesting to be seated outside. Unfortunately the weather disappointed and we we’re first sat inside on a poorly located table, with the owner mentioning he’d move us once a party had moved from the other end of the restaurant overlooking the ocean. This only too 15 or so minutes (Thank You!) As a party of 7, we ordered the 7 course mezze option.. Defiantly the way to go with a large group. The 7 courses, we’re a hit and miss.. Selecting 7 options from the menu, they arrived to our table on a when ready basis… Highlights we’re the Saganaki Cheese (a favoruite of mine from Greece) and baked barramundi<br/>Overall will defiantly go back, wasn’t true authentic Greek food but enough to make wish you we’re back in Greece. <br/><br/>Tip -<br/>- Order Mezze options if in a large group, and request mezze plates to come out staggered.<br/>- Watch the weather. If warm sunny weather, book a table on The Pier, if cold and windy request a table against the glass overlooking the ocean.<br/><br/>Negative -<br/>- Terrible selection of cockails, with bar staff mentioning they can only make what is on the menu. <br/>- Mezze options came out too fast

didn't love it here I think there are a lot more Greek restaurants that you can get more bang for your buck and the service is mediocre.
Adelaidefoodcentral
As with most restaurants along the Holdfast Promenade, the dishes are slightly more expensive but not too pricey to deter me from going. With my high expectations, I caught up with the team from Tempting Palates to check out the modern Greek cuisine on offer. The Mezze dishes by themselves, on average, are around the $20 mark, and it seemed logical to get one of the Mezze Packages. For a minimum of 4 people, we could get 7 Mezze dishes of our choosing for $49 per person.

Zucca Greek Mezze is located at Shop 5, Marina Pier, Holdfast Shores at Glenelg. Although this restaurant has been around for years we haven't had the opportunity to dine here until it was suggested by fellow blogger Adelaide Food Central. Being on the Marina, you would expect on a beautiful summers day that the view of the ocean would be spectacular when seated in the back area like we were for this occasion.  At night of course you don't get much of the sea view but at least the dining area feels nice and cosy with its dimmed lighting which is more suited for intimate diners rather than larger groups. The decor is certainly in line with the Greek feel of brown wooden chairs and blue water glasses to help set the tone. Our first interaction with the staff was from the head waiter and he was gracious enough to help us decide the best option for our food choices. We decided on the Mezze Package of 7 courses for 4 people where we decided to choose 6 savoury mezze plates and 1 dessert option. Once again the head waiter was kind enough to explain each dish and what to expect of each plate which helped make our choices. We finally decided on the "SA Floured and Fried Calamari", the "Kataifi Wrapped Spencer Gulf Prawns with Lima Beans Salsa and Citrus Mayonnaise", the " 12 Hour Cooked Barossa Suckling Pig Yiros with Apple, Radish Salata and C rackle", " Char-grilled Chicken Souvlaki with Couscous, Salata and Tzatziki", the "Twice Baked Duck with Pourel Patates, Spinach and Metaxa Salsa", the " 9 Score Marbled Porterhouse with Village Patates" and for dessert a half serve of "Loukoumades with warm honey syrup" and the half serve of "Mezze Plate of a selection of Homemade Desserts". We just had to try it all! The first two dishes to be served were the calamari and the prawns. The calamari were well cooked with a lovely soft tender texture with a lovely crispy outer from the flour coating. We all thought they were delicious. The prawns were also of a high quality. The prawns

I couldn't do it. My mum took me here for a birthday dinner. I know this isn't a sob session site, but my Dad has recently passed and my mother doesn't earn a lot of money, and I couldn't even order food here, for a few reasons: <br/>- Water is $8<br/>- 2 dishes per person recommended, just the food will set you back about $50ea<br/>- The dishes we got, were VERY small<br/>- I learned that mezze means taste; If you are a normal sized person, you'd want 3 dishes, that's $90 if you go the steak<br/><br/>Just looking at the menu, my better judgement kicked in and I wanted to leave. My mother is too nice and gets embarrassed, and bought a few dishes, one which looked and tasted like a shepherds pie.<br/><br/>The staff are heaps nice, and I guess they would have to be, because the food wouldn't make you come back.

Exquisite food and great service. A delightful experience and highly recommended.

Lovely Dinner. Went there tonight for dinner with my wife and kids<br/><br/>Got a couple of dips as the entree and then a meat platter (for 2) to share. The food was absolutely incredible. Great atmosphere. Service was top notch and staff were really good with the kids.<br/><br/>Overall a great experience, highly recommend this place

Baklava & Pistachio Ice Cream. Plus a nice long black that doesn't need anymore sugar with this dish!
Alright
Staff: good sense of humour and welcoming, food: not really cost efficient.. The service here was so lovely and professional, really great. We were seated immediately at a table with a seaview. Unfortunately, the food wasn't anything brilliant. All up $150 for 5 dishes which were less than generous in serving (i.e the moussaka was just a little square dish placed in a dinner dish and the quail with three small drumsticks with a few grapes.. i understand it's supposed to be mezze, but when you're paying a price like that for a small dish, you expect it to be excellent). if you'd like to drop a few $$$'s on alright greek cuisine with a good view and nice staff, it's fine.

Loved it! The staff were friendly, atmosphere was great and the food was delicious! The succulent pig was to die for! We will definitely be back.

THANK YOU Zucca for your no young children policy! The food here is wonderful, the service outstanding and we will go back again & again because we know we are guaranteed a pleasant, peaceful dining experience sans screeching infants & obnoxious, noisy children

Went their last night for the first time. Great food, great service. Will definitely be back

Had lunch at Zucca last Sunday, it was beautiful! Fantastic food! Only issue once we had main course service disappeared!! Will be back!

NEVER EVER COMEBACK!. OverPriced....Very expensive for the poor quality meals. ..Will not be returning. ..less than ordinary Service..tried to charge me more than what i ordered..ruined my Sat Night...

Fabulous food and service. Couldn't fault it for a large party.

Wonderful night. What a g.... Wonderful night.<br/><br/>What a great spot, buzzy little Greek restaurant with amazing views. <br/><br/>Service was friendly and efficient. Staff are very knowledgeable. It's was nice to see staff with passion.<br/><br/>Food was so good! We enjoyed a selection on Mezze, scallops were so good. Chargrilled octopus was so tender, all our good was so so yummy!
Ellen
Dined there last night and was not impressed. The service was the only saving grace, but I can certainly say the food was not authentic and had a lot to be desired. The mezze Greek sausage tasted like something from the German section of the supermarket and the Berkshire pork had clearly been hanging around for a while. Do not recommend.

Food was great but what really made our night was out waiter simon. Felt a bit weird when we walked in because we didn't really get acknowledged but as soon as we sat down Simon was amazing. Guided us us through the menu and gave solid suggestions which we followed and loved. Staff like him are rare, thanks Simon!
Martin
Terrible service. Rude waiters and average food
Mattbazz87
Never again. Just no. Don't even bother with this over priced, snooty faced shameful excuse of a restaurant.<br/><br/>Concierge / head waiter was rude.<br/><br/>Food was overpriced and not at all what was promised. I'd gladly pay near $100 for a seafood platter for 2 if the content and quality demanded such a price; at Zucca is simple does not.<br/><br/>Wine is clearly overinflated in pricing. I'm not even going to say anymore, it was just so disappointing.
Andylad83
Never tried, never will!!. Recently went for lunch on a Saturday in a group of 10 and we were turned away for having an 18 month old child with us... The place was about 20% filled with customers. Terrible business in this day-and-age when you turn away business, from a restaurant that charges only $14 a plate. It's not like it's 4-5 star and $80-$100 a main course, which I would quite understand if they turned us away... Will never even try.
Stephanie
Husband ordered the steak with feta and asparagus. The steak was inconsistently cooked across the table. I ordered the Greek salad. Both were very, very salty. <br/>Dill was used with a heavy hand. It was so overpowering and it covered everything. <br/>Very expensive for the poor quality meals. Will not be returning.

What's going on?. I have dined at Zucca more than a few times and have always been reasonably happy... however I can pretty much say I won't be back after our party of 6 adults & 1 child were placed at an inappropriate table (not conducive to conversation) and then had the waitress ear bash us about having the Function Menu (hello I didn't realize that 7 people constituted a function). $45 per head (7 dishes) and rather reluctantly the majority agreed.... the food was disappointing and came out one salty dish at a time. This is not the way to enjoy Greek cuisine from the table and certainly was not a celebration of food. Don't start me on the pathetic dessert that was served up (also part of the function menu). High profit margin wins !

I will never return to this restaurant again. I have been to Zucca three times in total and it seems to be getting progressively worse. They use dill in all the wrong things, such as tzatziki and even in meatballs, and the flavours all seem to be non-authentic. As a chef and having been raised in Greece I could only say the food leaves much to be desire. Their dolmades could best be described as rice pudding wrapped in vine leaves and today we managed to find metal pieces from steel wool in one of the meatballs just before my daughter ate them. Although the views are great and there is a nice atmosphere, I would not rate this restaurant more than 2/5 at best. Save your money.DO NOT EAT HERE!

Definitely one of the best Greek restaurants I've been to. I love my Greek food so my boyfriend and I decided to go there. We ordered 3 dips to start- tzatziki, feta with roast capsicum and beetroot and feta they were moorish I could of just eaten them all night. For mail we ordered the meat platter for two and yumm the options were amazing it had everything! I've recommended to all my friends it was just all so delicious!! My only issue was that is was rather expensive even though we didn't even get wine but you get what you pay for and it was worth it

First time diner, beautiful food and service from Malcolm! Would definitely recommend!
Flavour Country
Very enjoyable, 9 courses and a chance to try so many different flavours. Home made sausage and the pig so tender.<br/><br/>Service fantastic waiter had great understanding of the wine menu also, great job.

Enjoyable. Full of flavor. Will come back again for sure. The scenery is beautiful.
What I Eat
Feasting. I came here not too long ago as it was recommended by a friend. Between 6 of us we ordered the meat platter, seafood platter and the slow cooked lamb shoulder (isn't on the menu). The platters generally have a mix of the mezze menu and are catered for two people per platter. I found sharing them in a large group to be good because you could have a little of everything except with the seafood there were only 2 prawns on there. Personally I love my prawns so I wish they did give more. Overall, the food was to die for. Definitely recommend coming here to eat. Ask if they have the lamb shoulder at all because that was highlight of the night! For dessert we had Loukoumades, and they did not disappoint. Service was great, they were very friend and welcoming and made sure to check up on us throughout the meal.

Awesome feed and great service

Not out standing enough. I have visited Zucca a number of times. The service at Zucca depends on the staffs - I had both good and bad service. The food is not bad but is not exceptional either. I found it a bit plain in terms of its flavour and presentation. Overall, it is not a place that you would go back regularly. There are definitely other Greek restaurants that do better than Zucca.

Dinner review. Very impressive Greek cuisine - fantastic service, food was very fresh and tasty. Loved the selection of tapas style dishes and also very accommodating for children. 10/10 is my recommendation for this restaurant will definitely be going back

Don't bother if dining with family.<br/><br/>I have been here before and enjoyed their moderately good quality Greek at moderate prices and made a booking. I confirmed the booking a few days before. On punctual arrival there was no table for us as they had given it away and despite numerous vacant tables refused to give us one instead suggesting we go next door for drinks whilst waiting. We clearly had children.<br/>We waited for what seemed like forever and eventually left.<br/>I don't like it when restaurants make you feel as though they are going you a favour by letting you eat there.

All About The Dips. Had read mixed reviews so went to dinner with a little apprehension; however as we had booked ahead we were offered a nice table for 2 looking out over the ocean (albeit through the blinds so the glare was tolerable). Service was prompt and pleasant. Food came out exceptionally fast it was almost worryingly so, however food was delicious and perfectly cooked. We ordered some dips as an entree, which were amazing. Ordered the meat platter for 2 as the main (no sides) and was sadly too full for dessert. Some of the meats on the platter lacked kick and were a little plain, but overall a very enjoyable meal. Used the entertainment book voucher so work out relatively well priced for 2ppl. Good to try, but I think I will trial other restaurants before going back.

THE BEST ABOVE THE REST. My wife and I went in for dinner on the 6/12/2012 for our anniversary.<br/>I must state that I have dined within the top Greek Restaurants in Australia and abroad inclusive of Greece however I did not expect what I experienced!<br/>The individually baked Moussaka is amongst the best if not the best that I have had anywhere inclusive of home cooked! Light and full of flavour. Cooked to perfection. It was second to none!<br/>The Goat Stifatho was succulent and tender as it easily came of the bone on my fork. It was beautifully paired within the light and well seasoned aromatic tomato salsa.<br/>My wife had the baked wild caught Barramundi in tomato, pea and dill rizi (rice). <br/>The Barramundi once again cooked to perfection as it melted in the mouth. The fresh pea and dill rizi with a hint of citrus (lemon) was delightful as each component "danced" on the palate.<br/>We finished off with the Mezze plate of homemade desserts. Yet again difficult to fault! Personally, the baklava topped the dessert platter.<br/>Excellent staff and the service .......... Impeccable.<br/>Only one regret ...... we should have gone back again!<br/>In Melbourne we pride of having the best restaurants in Australia and abroad. Zucca in Glenelg is up there amongst the best and certainly I must say, it is the Best Greek Restaurant I have dined at!<br/>BRAVO!

Disappointing. Dined last week on a warmish night. Food serves small for the price and not overly flavoursome. Waiter was nice but we came away feeling ripped off. Very average and wont be returning.
Lovegoodfood
Oh please. From my lunch time experience with this restaurant, I wonder if the positive comments for this restaurant haven't been written by the staff, owners or their families.<br/>I have dined at some very fine restaurants and have paid top dollar for meals that have left my pallet singing the praises of the chef hours after the meal has been completed. Zuccas is far from one of those experiences.<br/>Two lady friends and myself decided a nice lunch on the marina was one the cards. I can honestly say that it really is the first time that I have spent $133 on a lunch and walked away hungry.<br/>The lamb was tough, the mezze's ( their apparent speciality) were all small and way over priced for what they are. We ordered 5 of them and the girls are not big eaters. The two of them would fit into lulu lemon leotard.<br/>Overall....a big miss, 2/10 and that is because they were on the water....the wait staff need to learn the product when asked about a particular wine, the reply was, "it's somewhere between dry and sweet"...um, thanks for that. <br/>My pet hate? Leaving a restaurant feeling like I was being ripped off and for this Zucca's does receive 10/10.

Par Excelence. Excellent service by educated and empathetic professionals (both wine and food). How can you be so composed when it is so busy and attend to so many look easy?<br/>If you marry the very best and freshest local ingredients with the skill and presentation of the chef and his staff you have perfection.<br/>You don't need to look any further for one of the top 10 restaurants of all styles of cuisine in Adelaide.

Left very Dissapointed !!!!!. Very dissapointed with Zucca, spent $160 on a handfull of Mezze dishes but left the restaurant hungry. Sat at back of restaurant which had the ambiance of an elevator, overall, very ordinary, wont be going back, definately not the best Greek restaurant in SA, that title belongs to the Greek on Halifax !!!!!!!!!!

Sublime food to street walkers. Me and my fellow diner were delighted upon entering the restaurant that not only were we able to be given a table without having previously booked but given probably what we agreed was the best seat in the house right in front of the window overlooking the beach… which is probably more useful during daylight hours but we liked and that’s what counts so get stuffed if you disagree. As it was my fellow diners birthday it was my treat and we decided although the budget didn’t quite extend to the Dom perignon we would at least go for a nice bottle of bubbles, we settled on the Bay of Fires sparkling and it was excellent... It turned out to be Tasmanian sparkling and it was great, have you even heard of Tasmanian sparkling? Seriously? Let alone it being worth decent money and being good? Anyway free plug for them right here. http://www.bayoffireswines.com.au/welcome-bay-fires-wines-tasmania?month=6&day=26&year=1981<br/><br/>And on to the food. We had decided to share some Tapa... uh I mean Mezze between the two of us, we were advised that four plates should suit us, however since both me and my fellow diner are notorious under eaters we settled on three. I think I saw a single tear roll down the eye of the waitress as we ordered only three, she had put her heart and soul into talking up four plates and while I felt bad for a brief moment I soon got over it after another sip of sparkling. <br/>While the first of our three plates was nothing to write home about... we were assured it was pork belly, we seriously question if it was even pork let alone its belly. The next two just got better and better, the lamb fillet was great and the octopus was sublime, even getting the remark from my fellow diner the birthday girl of “the best octopus I’ve ever had”<br/><br/>The night overall was great, with many laughs good food and good wine, a birthday night to remember for my fellow diner, even if in her own words she was “dressed like a street walker

Not for the dehydrated...or people with real taste. Money, sure.... The water is $7.50.<br/>The average beer price is $9.50 (330mls)<br/>The cheapest bottle of wine is $35.<br/>The food is salty, covering any real nuance of flavour.<br/><br/>If you want to flash your credit card and show off your wealth in an 80's corporate fashion, go ahead.<br/><br/>If you're a normal person, with great taste and reasonable expectations of what your money *should* buy -<br/>go to Kefi.

50/50. Great food, awesome setting, service was OK, but WOW, do they charge for what you get! However, I'll be back, food was fantastic, but it's a 'treat' day out.

It could have been.... ... a very nice night, because we know the food is great.<br/>So for our first dinner with kids (2 couples, 2 babies in prams) we had booked way in advance and even confirmed a few days earlier, to make sure we would have an appropriate table.<br/>Well, the staff had other ideas and had given our table away (even though we were 5 minutes early).<br/>So we were asked to wait for 'about 15-20' minutes. <br/>'why don't you go to the bar next door?' Yes, let's go to a for with two small babies... <br/>'You could have the table outside.. yes, 10 degrees and two babies....<br/><br/>after 20 minutes of waiting and discussions (there were empty tables, where customers hadn't arrived, but they were for 6... ) still no tables in sight....<br/>We finally had a very nice dinner somewhere else...<br/><br/>very disappointed.... because, we know the food is great....

Fabulous food and wonderful service. Zucca is a multi award winning restaraunt and the best in its class on the marina...
Brunch-in-melb
Fantastic food by great chefs. It's been a few months since visiting zucca but we usually try to go when we visit Adelaide. Being melbournites we're spoilt for choice and so probably have high expectations with food - zucca always meets our expectations. New year's eve 2011-12 at zucca was a highlight- great service, varied banquet, and even a delicious vegetarian option for me which was a nice surprise. On previous visits, whether a la carte or pre-arranged menu, we've always been impressed with the flavour and quality. Service always good. Ambience is nice, but better if you can get a table on the beachside! Some might say the food is expensive - but if you want quality food prepared by experienced chefs, then this is what you should expect to be paying.

Yum!. Have eaten here twice recently, the second time was a repeat visit as the first was so good! The meat loving part of our partnership ordered, and enjoyed a lamb souvlaki, as did I, but I find the real quality of this place to be in some of the other mezze dishes. After all, how much can you really do with meat on a stick! The goat chevapchichi is my absolute favourite, fantastic complex flavours in the sauce. The dips are also really high quality, and all the fried cheese fantastic. I'm a sucker for greek desserts, and these are some of the best. Coffee is also consistently great.

Great food but very rude service. Our chicken had not arrived 35 minutes after our order was taken. Everything else had arrived and been consumed. I asked to have the chicken taken off the bill as it didn't come. The waitresses response was "do you want us to serve you raw chicken!?!" too defensive.

Nice food. 3 of us dined, we decided on sharing the mezze, we had a greek salad ( with lots of capsicum and not enough feta,) one piece of bread (that we tried to share between 3 - please provide more) the mezzes included the spinach filos - very nice, lamb and figs, good, chicken skewers, chewy for chicken and domaldes, our fave - service was attentive but all the dishes came out one by one once we had finished a dish the next would arrive, we would have preferred them all together so we could pick, get the idea that is to keep you there and drinking, the wine list was very expensive, $35 for the cheapest bottle - my friend had dessert and liked it a lot but there wasn't much choice, especially if you can't have dairy - so overall a 7/10 Ok but for greek still prefer kefi on Tapleys Hill Rd
Chille
Dips and Duck to die for. We strolled in here not looking too glam after a long trip from Melbourne. Without a booking the staff quickly found us a lovely table and the service was very efficient and friendly all night. <br/>Dips are very small serves but really delicious. Must try the spiced chickpea. We shared whitebait with lovely house- made caper based mayo. Capers feature in a lot of dishes. Main course steaks were juicy and cooked to perfection on a bed of potatoes with capers ! And feta - yummy combo, will need to use it in my own cooking. <br/>Twice cooked duck was a very large serve but deliciously moist with crispy skin, impressive.<br/>Cons: the mezze lamb souvlaki was dry, no salad, no pita just meat, shred lettuce and tzatziki. Prices are really quite high, be prepared. Also, one of our party reacted as if there was msg in his meal. Very thirsty, feeling puffy and zonked. One of my pet peeves, really wish restaurants would avoid any sauces or spices with any of the 62x - 63x range of additives - not necessary to make quality produce tasty and I strongly believe there is a duty of Care by the restauranter to at least disclose the use of it. Just my thoughts.

Ms Eva Goes. Great food, great service a must if in Glenelg

Great place for light food to share (and watching a stray dolphin frollicking in the Marina! We were lucky!). We weren't sure what we wanted to eat but the waiter was knowledgable about the menu (even knowing every single ingredient for identifying vegan meals!) and what he recommended was absolutely perfect. We had a potato skordalia and olives and could have eaten them forever. Yum yum yum, I wish I lived down the road!

Indecision is a fabulous thing when it involves a restaurant menu that has an excess of enticing choices. And it's more fab when it's a mezze restaurant so you can order more than one dish each and graze the variety. And then when ALL the dishes measure up to your salivating imagination AND the service and presentation are top notch too, well every kid's a winner. This place is a Do Not Miss. Get over the somewhat squirly location, make a destination out of this spot and enjoy.
Mon
Deeelicious!. What a wonderful night last night. Sun setting on the ocean as we ate magnificant food and drank a lovely red. Seafood platter was the go and we were not disappointed. That scallop was almost worth the whole cost of platter. The service was warm, friendly and inviting. Only wee bit of a complaint. Our Greek dessert (custard cake) just didn't seem as fresh and as yummy as what I'd hoped. Would we still go again? Yes for sure. I've walked past Zucca many times but this time I'm glad we went in.

Mezze. Some of the best mezze dishes we have had. This was one of the highlights of our few days in Adelaide. Clearly the best restaurant on the Marina.
Brayden
Brilliant. Had an excellent meal here and will definitely return. Thank you for a great night out.
Always Hungry
Foods amazing, views amazing. Love the mezze idea, meant with a group of 4 we got a chance to try most of the dishes on the menu. Everything was cooked to perfection, great presentation and great wine. Service was good, staff were friendly and I will definitely be back again

Food was okay, not happy with staff attitude on one of my visits, never been back since.

I have dined here on numerous occasions.<br/>I like to try at least one new Mezze each visit but I always have the Scallops (the BEST). The chicken and lamb souvlaki are tender and juicy, the prawn kataifi is superb, the eggplant and carrot sides are great.<br/>I believe it is the best greek restaurant in Adelaide.
EHL
Although my char-grilled octopus was tender & lovely to eat i was less than impressed by the accompanying 'betroot salad' which consisted of a couple of sliced of tinned beefwood cut into pieces. My other half had chicken souvlaki which consisted of 2 chicken skewers, some shaved lettuce & tzatziki. No tomato, no bread, no onion in sight. Nor did the prices bely the quality. In short- not a wonderful experience.
Pom
Portions were a little small for the price, but lovely food and really great service.

Good greek on Marina. Good greek food and a perfect spot in Marina. Have been there a few times and liked it every time.

We were really impressed by the quality of food here and the very good service. Best place to eat on the Marina!

Everything's mezze tonight. It's going to be a variety of small dishes.<br/><br/>These dishes are for two, so I'm going to order one at a time. That's my new strategy for mezze/tapas. It's easy to order too much feed, and be left in the terrible position of not having any room for 'zert.

Next, I attack the brulee. I often complain about creme bruleex (my spelling) having too much toffee, or a burnt sugar taste. Thus one has a very thin layer of toffee. It’s very difficult to taste, and I can’t identify the Metaxa here. It either burned off, or the chef quaffed it. The custard is fairly solid, grainy, and not sweet enough. The bits of fig hiding in the custard are really rather odd, and unrelated to the rest of the dessert. Ahh. I think I excavated a bit of Metaxa at the bottom. There’s a hint of alcohol there.

The food was passable; at least there was enough for us. But I've had better seafood platters elsewhere before. And everything else really spoiled the fun. Frankly, all I was thinking during the meal was "let's get this done and over with, and get the F outta here." It's not like we were being stingy; we spent nearly 170 bucks for a lunch for three. In appreciation of all this, I gave them the exact money down to the cents. I don't think we'll come back here anytime soon.

There wasn’t too much umming and aahing until we settled on Zucca, Adam Swason’s (he of San Remo pasta fame) Greek mezze restaurant. It turned out that I was the only one of us who had much experience of Greek food before so I was in charge of any menu interpretation that needed doing. Fortunately the menu is largely self explanatory and the staff at Zucca are reasonably attentive and more than capable of helping out. After a bit of negotiation to suit tastes we decided on tzatziki and bread to start, followed by a large Greek salad, the SA calamari, the pork gyro (that’s a yiros) and the braised Clare Valley lamb. While we definitely had plenty of food, in hindsight I don’t think we did the best job of ordering dishes that really catered to everyone’s preferences. Which is a shame, because the menu at Zucca is quite extensive...
