Absolutely beautiful meal tonight! I have to commend the staff working in the outside area who handled the difficult lady at the table next door with such grace! She was such a rude obnoxious customer and the staff were amazingly professional in their dealings with the table. Well done!
(We did request they tip her wine on her but they graciously denied our request!)
Beautiful food and fantastic staff, highly recommend!!!!!
Loved this place.
Fabulous food.
Great staff.
Especially the lovely lovely waiter who brought out a champagne bucket for our flowers so they didn't dry out!!
How thoughtful was he?!!!
Have been to many resturants this was the first time a waiter had gone to this amount of trouble.
He spent a lot of time advising us with food issues and drinks.
Thoroughly recommend this establishment.
Looking forward to a return visit.
Thankyou folks.
Just moments from the beautiful beach along the Marina Pier at Holdfast Shores in Glenelg, you’ll find Tomiko Japanese Steakhouse - one of Adelaide’s finest Japanese Teppanyaki restaurants specialising in premium cuts of beef and the freshest seafood. Since opening in 2011, Tomiko Japanese Steakhouse has attracted a valuable and extremely loyal customer base of locals and tourists alike, who visit time and time again for the highest quality Japanese cuisine, exceptional customer service and, of course, the beautiful location. On The Chopping Board (OTCB) was recently invited to Tomiko to experience Japanese Teppanyaki for ourselves, and we couldn’t believe we hadn’t visited sooner. All food and beverages were provided by Tomiko Japanese Steakhouse.
This place is deserving of a higher rating! We came in a large group and had a really great experience. All the food was of a very high standard, I particularly loved the sushi, and the teppanyaki beef. The service too, was standout. The only slight letdown was the price tag. We had the tasting menu, which was perhaps a little overpriced, but it was tough to criticise that fact given the quality.
Had a wonderful meal here. The tempura oysters were fantastic. The crispy pork with caramelised sweet potatoe and the teppanyaki scallops were some of the best meals we've ever had. I just wanted to order another round of both they were so yummy. Service was faultless. Would come back again.
Great quality sashimi
Delicious Miso and the coffin bay oysters were out of this world.
Service was friendly, informative and attentive.
Prices were moderate but well worth it given the location and high level of service.
Very nice location, very good table service and staff were very friendly and attentive. We had the 10 course degustation menu. Food seemed to come out very quickly almost too quickly to keep up. Food was fresh, flavoursome and well presented. Kitchen staff were very lovely and busy in the open kitchen. Very generous amounts of food the 10 course menu was so filling.
Came here after checking into our hotel, as our first night dinner in Adelaide. We wanted sake and we're feeling Japanese so we walked up the main drag along the water until we found this place. I looked up the reviews and noticed it wasn't high but we decided to give it a shot anyway.
We sat outside which is ok, a bit noisy as the table next to us had about 6 people who were clearly drinking. The service here was not great, we had to wait a while each time we wanted to order drinks or food etc.
We ordered sake and then decided to order a range of small tapas style dishes to share including chicken karrage, oysters, chicken yakitori, mixed sushi platter, and Gyoza. The food was surprisingly good, which was unlike what the other reviews had stated. Although the service was not great here, we still really enjoyed the food and ordered another small bottle of sake throughout the meal.
This place did not have a premium Japanese restaurant vibe to it, although it did have a premium price which is a shame, although the food overall was quite tasty and fresh.
Quality Japanese!. My wife and I recently took 4 interstate visitors for dinner on a busy Saturday night. We booked one of the upstairs teppenyaki plates which I highly recommend. The drink and food service was excellent all night and the staff very friendly. The highlight for all of us was teppenyaki experience and the to die for steak dishes. Whilst we dined on a teppenyaki specific menu, there is an extensive alacarte standard Japanese menu also which we have had in the past and it is also very nice. After we finished on the teppenyaki we moved downstairs next to the bar and had dessert, coffee and a sticky wine or 3. Overall it was one of the best Japanese meals I have had and I base that on price and quality compared to other similar restaurants.
Highly recommend this restaurant.
Nice but no fun factor..... I want to say firstly the service was great and the meat melted in my mouth. My only issue is I have been to other Japanese "Steak Houses" before and I was expecting for the price the experience would of been the same or better. The other ones I have been to created more of a show using the food. I have seen flames, food thrown in the air and onion towers and I was expecting that here also but this was not the case. It was very much just normal cooking on a grill, so for me it was a once off as I didn't find it as fun. You will get fried rice, soup, salad and a choice of mains which you can share. The other places I have been also included dessert and sake so I thought it was a bit rude charging extra for this. I recommend the Wagyu Steak and the Beef Roll. Expect a big bill at the end.
Love it surf and turf, sake was stunning... $$$ worth it..
We hadn't booked and it was a busy Saturday night at the marina. This was the only place that offered to phone us as soon as a table was free. They did so after about 20 mins and it was worth the wait. Our group shared all the different oyster entrees - the oysters were fresh and those with teriyaki sauce were to die for. The mains took a little while to come out but definitely worth the wait. The lamb cutlets were tasty and cooked to perfection while the favourite of the night was the salt and pepper seafood. We finished off with the tempura ice cream which was ok but nothing to rave about. The prices are hefty but the food and service were great so we didn't mind paying the big bill. Sushi train in the middle of the room was annoying and only had two sad looking sushis and a locomotive buzzing around in everyone's ear. But overall a great experience and will definitely return.
