Review Broadway Kiosk - Glenelg

Have been meaning to go here for years and so glad we did today! Nice vibe with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I love how you can walk through the store to the cafe. Lots of organic produce for sale. Our food was delicious! I found the turmeric latte a bit pricey for the size of the cup.

Cute cafe and store tucked away in Glenelg. Came here early one morning (This was the only cafe open in the area at 7:30AM) and enjoyed a nice coffee and salmon/avocado toast. Spent over an hour here enjoying the ambience. Would happily come back!

We were very impressed by this cafe. The menu is impressive with a great variety of dishes. Plenty of choice for vegetarians. We had pancakes which were delicious and a good serving size.

Fantastic food and vibe! What a gem we discovered in quiet South Glenelg!! The staff is friendly too. Would definitely recommend this place if they are looking for clean, tasty, organic food.

Loved the outside eating area behind the shop. Perfect for our Christmas lunch celebration. We tried the delicious Organic Hill Wines and couldn’t believe how fresh they tasted. Can’t wait to get back there

Great coffee with all the regular non-milk options including house-made almond milk which is a really nice. Catering for all dietary needs including many vegan options, this is a great place for breakfast or lunch. Prompt efficient service from staff, while quiet today I’ve been other times when it’s been very busy and they keep on top of it. Check the awesome mural on the way to the toilets.

One of my favourite cafes in Adelaide. Great range of healthy food, all fresh and delicious. Excellent range of quality gluten free cakes and slices. Nice outdoor area at the back of the shop. Friendly and quick service.

Really impressed by this place. Came here on a Sunday and it was packed. Just got a table (they allow reserving) and ordered a coffee and a frittata and kale salad, both of which were excellent. Staff are fantastic. Food took awhile but, as I said, they were very busy. Little noisy but good atmosphere as it was full of lots of groups. I'd definitely recommend this place.

Food is average. It either looks good and tastes good enough or looks average and tastes good. Service standard is average. Very in out get it done as they are often busy with retirees. I would go back but it’s the view worth the visit not the food or coffee.

I came here when I met up with my workmates. It is a big place where you have an option to either sit outside and enjoy the sun or inside when it is too cold to sit outside. The view itself is stunning as it overlooks the Glenelg beach. Since we came here for brunch I decided to have buttermilk pancake with bacon and maple syrup. The portion is big and the variety of food in the menu is pretty good. You can also choose from the food display in their shop. Staff were OK and it sure has a diner feel to the whole place, nothing very fancy if you are up for that.

We've been having breakfast here a couple of times a month for a decade. It's ideal after the walk from Brighton. Food is excellent and service is friendly and second to none.

Eight of us were here for a birthday lunch.

First up - the view. If it's beach views you want then you cannot do better. It's about as close to the beach as you can get without getting sand between your toes.

Second - parking. You may be lucky (as we were this time) and fluke something quite close. Or you might be parking four or five streets away and having a leisurely stroll there and back (as has happened to us on other occasions).

The place is what it is - an old beachside kiosk that's been extended and turned into a cafe.

Prices are not unreasonable and they do breakfasts until 12:00 plus a selection of "breakfast snacks" all day as well as lunch items. Servings are generous and they seemed to cope with requests well. For example, we asked for cheese on the Beach Burger and only one piece of fish instead of two in the fish and chips. Both requests were accommodated without any fuss.

Service was efficient and effective without being overly friendly - which may or may not be what you want.

Our section of the party ordered a toasted bacon and egg sandwich, fish and chips, penne alla panna and the Burger with cheese. All of them were well cooked and the fish and the burger were well presented. The toasted sandwich was just that: a toasted sandwich cut into quarters and on a bread and butter plate. Basic at best.

On the other hand, the pasta came swimming in cream sauce and handfuls of shaved parmesan and and ham. Quite over the top. Tasted good, I was told, but it looked a mess.

Only other drawback... we were seated next to the open doorway and the sea breeze was, shall we say, bracing. Bring a jumper on a cool day.

Visited this iconic kiosk for saturday lunch last weekend. Warmish day and quite a crowd present. Served quickly in the queue and got a table inside. The wife and I both ordered the BLAT - bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato toasted sandwich. It came out within 10 minutes and tasty as ... yummo. Lovely combination and the toast itself was crunchy and tasty, arising from having being cooked with a smidgen of butter. Flat white on the side for me, and water. Good time and many thanks

Two visits for coffee. Both times they presented a shot of coffee and just hot milk added. There was little effort in making this coffee.
If you like your coffee, this seems not the place.
Nice little place alongside my favourite beach. For what it's worth, possibly a little bit expensive and customer service was average, food was decent considering it's a kiosk. Biggest complaint is lack of cleaning the tables, which sometimes led me to be unable to sit at the kiosk and enjoy my food and rest

Ordered steak sandwich, the steak was a paper thing slice of old roast beef, disgusting for a popular kiosk, great position on the beach, but meals leave a lot to be desired.

Bad dining. Did not like pumpkin feta and spinach salad. Pumpkin hard and tasteless!

Great Coffee - from a Melbournite !. I can't say enough good things about this beachside cafe. The coffee is really good and consistent. We were here visiting for 6 days and for 6 mornings my coffee was perfect. I also found the staff to be really friendly and welcoming, especially since my 12 yo was sent to get coffees most mornings. Hot choc, iced coffees and muffins all lovely too. Perfectly zen surroundings, dog and bike friendly, it's great ! Try it

Gerard. We come to Glenelg from the country at least once a month to visit our daughters and most mornings we take our dogs for a walk then have coffee or breakfast/coffee at the Btoadway cafe. Service is quick and eggs are always very good, whatever way they are cooked. Coffee is fine also. Prices are very reasonable and you have to remember its a cafe not a restaurant. Very dog friendly and a great start to the day.

Great breakfast's and 'that view'. What can I say, I stop here once a month for breakfast on my ride in to work. The Mug'o'latte is great and the Omelette is sensational. I'm also a very big fan of the Old English Muffins with Salmon and eggs benedict... yummo!

The view is fantastic while you enjoy your morning meal.

Had the processed chicken and avocado puree foccacia , nothing more needs to be said

Unfriendly staff and average food. Needs lots of improvement, especially on the staff. As much as it being about the food, it's also all about service these days.

Breakfast with a view. We've had breakfast here a few times and it's always pretty reasonable. Most recently we had the 'healthy' breakfast option and were pleasantly surprised. The eggs were poached well and the flavours of the meal all came together nicely. The service is fine, nothing amazing, but not terrible either. It's a great spot to watch the world go by and people/dog watch.

First visit yesterday on way to tram to the footy and what a great decision it was. Great spot, just along the esplanade from Jetty Road Glenelg, right on the beach front. Friendly staff, quick service and most importantly - great food. The wife and I enjoyed the Big Breakfast for just $11 a serve and the kids had a ham and cheese croissant for $7. There was plenty of bacon, the eggs were cooked a treat and the croissants had a stack of ham in them. 30 minutes and we were seated, fed and on our way. Definitely worth a visit if you're down that neck of the woods!

Been here twice and loved it. It's a kiosk so the service is what it is, food is good and view is just amazing. Love it!

Brilliant location. Sunny warm Saturday arvo 4.30pm. BUT being to I have to sit indoors because staff have to clean up not very hospital service! I am going elsewhere where I am assured of warm welcome and friendly service.

Would you please make up your mind if you want to be in customer service / food industry! We have attempted to eat here since it reopened 5 years ago....with no success yet again! Arrived 4pm with our 18mth old especially to eat hete and once again turned down. The old owners closed at sunset....suggest you look at doing the same. 5.30pm close is way too early to close when you are right on the beach when everyone arrives for a swim! If the kitchen is too hot at 4pm to cook I should imagine its much hotter at 1pm...you still serve hot food then. Get a better aircobditioner and look after your local customers...please.
Julie
The view was great but food was just plain bland and the service without smiles one of the people in my group had to send something back to the kitchen as she asked for it with out something and it came out with she said when she looked at the kitchen staff they were whinging about it um dont think we will be back!!!

Amazing location, average service and coffee and closed very early. Worth it for the location.

I don't know why people are complaining, it's not a fancy cafe, the food was great, the prices are decent especially with its location. Great view! I wouldn't come here for coffee though, I'd go to a more specialized cafe down at glenelg like zest or grind it but apart from that this place is a nice little getaway spot, great walk over from jetty road :)

Beachside Bliss. Great for a Saturday/Sunday Brunch, in fact any time, any day - the views are great, food is honest, simple cafe fare, coffee is good and they're dog friendly. When the suns shines like today it is bliss.

Chill for a while and watch the walkers, cyclists and joggers go by.

Fantastic Sunday Brunch. I guess for all the knockers out there, there are satisfied customers that don't feel the need to give feedback.
So here goes.. What a great place.. location was just fantastic for a Sunday Brunch with my bestie.. we were blown away by the service and the food.
They were so quick and the food delicious.. definately needed that walk to Glenelg to wear it off..
Thank you

Finally tried this place after thinking about it for a while. You never know what you're going to get when you order a Long Macchiato in Adelaide, but it was served just like I like it. In a small glass, extended with milk, not water. Perfect! Tasted excellent too. Will be going back to try breakfast. Good service too.

Quick service , food average

I work at the bradway kiosk. And although i know we make mistakes dosent everyone. I have read all the reviews and would just like to say that i am passionate about my job at the place that has the best view in the world. I always try to serve people with a smile and pride myself on delivering the best service i can. And although at times i might look like a headless chicken i am always a very polite and smiling chicken. Give us a go i would love to see you there and our coffee is great. Xoxo

Fantastic View. My only objection - DOGS inside where food is being consumed. There are facilities for dog owners to leave their dogs just outside the door - not sure the council would approve of dogs inside the restaurant.

The Broadway Kiosk. The head barista at Broadway Kiosk works highly effeciently with a brilliant work ethic, proudcing outstanding coffee day after day!
Coffee Queen
Queen. I came to the Broadway kiosk with friends who thought they knew everything about coffee. The head barista heard our conversation with the service attendant, and said " this is what I do, this is why I do it and this is what you should expect from all my baristas" My colleagues were very impressed with his knowledge so we sat and watched him. The volume he produced on that busy day was astonishing! Not to mention the quality, superb. What an asset. I own two business in Adelaide and if I could I would ;) my colleagues asked him some probing questions, he was, confident, well articulated and extremely passionate about what he does for a living. Obviously heading towards bigger and better things, what an asset to any business.
Heard a lot about the coffee and what he does at the Broadway and know for a fact he would never be short of work ;)
Tony
Amazing coffee and great view. Expect to be served promptly by polite staff and they continue to produce top quality coffee, every time. It's obviously a high volume store and the staff don't mess about, working In what seems to be a challenging environment. The kiosk has established itself as one of the premium cafes in SA. Expect quality premium coffee by the baristas who have obviously been trained by an expert in the field, one in particular, who is there every weekend, really knows his stuff. Amazing views of the beach are complimented by the smell Of freshly ground cOffee, with a huge array of delicious cakes

Don't waste your time. If it was just a crappy kiosk that sold average food with no service, all could be forgiven.

This place presents itself as a cut above the rest ... The view and location might be but that's where it ends.

Poor food + poor service (I don't like begging for cutlery) = I'm not coming back.
Nath
Yep.... Great location, but let's just keep it at that. C'mon guys, fix your "stuff". Could be amazing

What a lovely spot. And....... Thats just about where the praises shall be left. Dont get me started on the rubbish our group was served. This is the spot for Adelaide's answer to Doyles restaurant. if they fell any shorter in the food department a microscope would be needed to find it. The service was just below acceptable. The coffee was lovely, unfortunately and very sadly the coffee and the view did not make up for the rubbish we were dished up. The staff were running around like a bunch of headless chickens. Such a shame the people running this place are not replaced with others who would be able to do this place justice.

If it’s all about location, Broadway Kiosk certainly has it. Situated right in front of the beach, customers are treated to picturesque views of the sea and one can imagine how spectacular it would be during a sunset. As for the food, there is a small selection of breakfast offerings available from 7am to 12 noon. After that there are some farely standard cafe style offerings with pasta, salads, seafood dishes, burgers and foccacias.
On The Chopping Board
Sometimes when you walk along the Esplanade at Glenelg, do you ever get halfway and you're like "Geez, getting hungry - could do with a feed about now" and low and behold a cafe appears right in front of you, like a mirage? This cafe is Broadway Kiosk, about 1 km south of the Glenelg Jetty, an unassuming cafe with activity from humans, children and dogs alike.
