We've been having breakfast here a couple of times a month for a decade. It's ideal after the walk from Brighton. Food is excellent and service is friendly and second to none.
Eight of us were here for a birthday lunch.
First up - the view. If it's beach views you want then you cannot do better. It's about as close to the beach as you can get without getting sand between your toes.
Second - parking. You may be lucky (as we were this time) and fluke something quite close. Or you might be parking four or five streets away and having a leisurely stroll there and back (as has happened to us on other occasions).
The place is what it is - an old beachside kiosk that's been extended and turned into a cafe.
Prices are not unreasonable and they do breakfasts until 12:00 plus a selection of "breakfast snacks" all day as well as lunch items. Servings are generous and they seemed to cope with requests well. For example, we asked for cheese on the Beach Burger and only one piece of fish instead of two in the fish and chips. Both requests were accommodated without any fuss.
Service was efficient and effective without being overly friendly - which may or may not be what you want.
Our section of the party ordered a toasted bacon and egg sandwich, fish and chips, penne alla panna and the Burger with cheese. All of them were well cooked and the fish and the burger were well presented. The toasted sandwich was just that: a toasted sandwich cut into quarters and on a bread and butter plate. Basic at best.
On the other hand, the pasta came swimming in cream sauce and handfuls of shaved parmesan and and ham. Quite over the top. Tasted good, I was told, but it looked a mess.
Only other drawback... we were seated next to the open doorway and the sea breeze was, shall we say, bracing. Bring a jumper on a cool day.
Visited this iconic kiosk for saturday lunch last weekend. Warmish day and quite a crowd present. Served quickly in the queue and got a table inside. The wife and I both ordered the BLAT - bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato toasted sandwich. It came out within 10 minutes and tasty as ... yummo. Lovely combination and the toast itself was crunchy and tasty, arising from having being cooked with a smidgen of butter. Flat white on the side for me, and water. Good time and many thanks
Nice little place alongside my favourite beach. For what it's worth, possibly a little bit expensive and customer service was average, food was decent considering it's a kiosk. Biggest complaint is lack of cleaning the tables, which sometimes led me to be unable to sit at the kiosk and enjoy my food and rest
Great Coffee - from a Melbournite !. I can't say enough good things about this beachside cafe. The coffee is really good and consistent. We were here visiting for 6 days and for 6 mornings my coffee was perfect. I also found the staff to be really friendly and welcoming, especially since my 12 yo was sent to get coffees most mornings. Hot choc, iced coffees and muffins all lovely too. Perfectly zen surroundings, dog and bike friendly, it's great ! Try it
First visit yesterday on way to tram to the footy and what a great decision it was. Great spot, just along the esplanade from Jetty Road Glenelg, right on the beach front. Friendly staff, quick service and most importantly - great food. The wife and I enjoyed the Big Breakfast for just $11 a serve and the kids had a ham and cheese croissant for $7. There was plenty of bacon, the eggs were cooked a treat and the croissants had a stack of ham in them. 30 minutes and we were seated, fed and on our way. Definitely worth a visit if you're down that neck of the woods!
Been here twice and loved it. It's a kiosk so the service is what it is, food is good and view is just amazing. Love it!
Beachside Bliss. Great for a Saturday/Sunday Brunch, in fact any time, any day - the views are great, food is honest, simple cafe fare, coffee is good and they're dog friendly. When the suns shines like today it is bliss.
Chill for a while and watch the walkers, cyclists and joggers go by.
Finally tried this place after thinking about it for a while. You never know what you're going to get when you order a Long Macchiato in Adelaide, but it was served just like I like it. In a small glass, extended with milk, not water. Perfect! Tasted excellent too. Will be going back to try breakfast. Good service too.
Quick service , food average
Have been meaning to go here for years and so glad we did today! Nice vibe with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I love how you can walk through the store to the cafe. Lots of organic produce for sale.
Our food was delicious! I found the turmeric latte a bit pricey for the size of the cup.
Cute cafe and store tucked away in Glenelg. Came here early one morning (This was the only cafe open in the area at 7:30AM) and enjoyed a nice coffee and salmon/avocado toast. Spent over an hour here enjoying the ambience. Would happily come back!
We were very impressed by this cafe. The menu is impressive with a great variety of dishes. Plenty of choice for vegetarians.
We had pancakes which were delicious and a good serving size.
Fantastic food and vibe! What a gem we discovered in quiet South Glenelg!! The staff is friendly too. Would definitely recommend this place if they are looking for clean, tasty, organic food.
Loved the outside eating area behind the shop. Perfect for our Christmas lunch celebration. We tried the delicious Organic Hill Wines and couldn’t believe how fresh they tasted. Can’t wait to get back there
Great coffee with all the regular non-milk options including house-made almond milk which is a really nice. Catering for all dietary needs including many vegan options, this is a great place for breakfast or lunch. Prompt efficient service from staff, while quiet today I’ve been other times when it’s been very busy and they keep on top of it. Check the awesome mural on the way to the toilets.
One of my favourite cafes in Adelaide. Great range of healthy food, all fresh and delicious. Excellent range of quality gluten free cakes and slices. Nice outdoor area at the back of the shop. Friendly and quick service.
Really impressed by this place. Came here on a Sunday and it was packed. Just got a table (they allow reserving) and ordered a coffee and a frittata and kale salad, both of which were excellent.
Staff are fantastic. Food took awhile but, as I said, they were very busy. Little noisy but good atmosphere as it was full of lots of groups.
I'd definitely recommend this place.
