Sir And Mlady Dine Out
+3.5
We felt like having a meaty meal for dinner, so we popped to Grill@Gordon. It is BYO and has no corkage charge which is a also nice touch. Sharing an entree we chose salt and pepper calamari. The salt and pepper calamari (being a bit of a favourite of ours) was nice and tender. The accompanying aioli certainly complimented it well. It was lovely dipping the tasty calamari into the very flavoursome aioli.

Ordered takeout but knowing how long ribs usually take, i wanted to know how long their turnaround is, seeing that the place wasnt busy though they had 1 large group settling in. 15 min wait turned out to be a 40 min wait. Inevitable comparison to hurricane surely ensues when it comes down to american style bbq ribs. Joint did not disappoint 😃. Both beef n porky ribs were well marinated, soft almost fall off the bone kind with enuf tendon to make each bite less boring. The only slight downside would be that both ribs needed a little more of their (secret?) sauce while being basted.
Return? Yes😃
Grill @ Gordon's website promises 'steak, seafood and ribs all grilled to perfection'. This matched perfectly with our strong craving for meat one evening before the theatre, so we journeyed to the lovely upper north shore to try it out. The menu at Grill @ Gordon is exactly what you would expect from a steakhouse, containing a sizeable range of meat options canvassing steaks, ribs, chicken, seafood and more. The first thing to note is that the serving sizes are quite substantial, which is always a great positive, and we left the meal feeling very satisfied!
We had steaks ranging through Rump, Sirloin and Tenderloin. All were cooked to perfection with the distinction between medium rare and medium clearly apparent. My sirloin was truly one of the best steaks i've ever had and I barely used my mushroom sauce for fear of missing the flavour of the meat. I used it on the chips which I honestly couldn't improve if I tried.
The service was friendly with just the right amount of engagement. I do think they need to work on the atmosphere. The historic photos of Gordon are nice but the flashing open sign, strange music choice (as much as I love rock it was a tad strange) and offers of seafood with I think one fish item on the menu left room for improvement.
Went here for dinner last night and all the dishes were delicious. The highlights were the Louisiana Wings and the Pork Ribs. They're not licensed, so make sure you BYO!
Tried this place a couple of times and each time the food has been amazing! The bruschetta is the best in Sydney hands down, and the burgers are unreal! Making this place our local as the food is beautiful and the staff are amazing and friendly. 10/10
Fantastic wings, mushrooms & ribs. Tried this new local place for my wife's birthday and enjoyed some fantastic food. The wings were the best we've ever tasted and vegetarian daughter loved the stuffed mushrooms. Other daughter loved her calamari, and I appreciated the clean, fresh taste of the bruschetta. For mains I had deep flavoured, smoky pork ribs - very moreish, while the girls chose beef, chicken & vegetarian burgers. Lovely toasted brioche buns enhanced each burger, though we couldn't quite finish them all, so the servings and accompaniments were generous and looked good on nice new white modern crockery. The attentive Polish waitress was very helpful and when we mentioned the birthday were surprised with a complimentary baked white chocolate & raspbery cheesecake, complete with sparkler and chorus of "Happy Birthday" by the staff. Can't wait to go back, but take a good appetite with you, you'll need it.
