My go to loval ramen place. Really good. Thank you. <3
Great place for a bowl of ramen
The salmon carpaccio was delicious, will definitely go back for it!
Went here recently with a few friends. Located just outside of Hoyts so I good place to go to eat before or after seeing a movie.
They have a very interesting way in how you order your food. You get given a menu & a piece of paper to write down what you want, then you have to go to the counter to order & pay for it.
We ordered;
- spring rolls
- gyozas
- salmon sashimi don
- Yasai Tofu Ramen
- Charcoal Beef Ramen
The spring rolls were nice, the dipping sauce was great. The gyozas were nothing special. They were good but nothing mind blowing. The salmon sashimi don was quite filling & tasted good, only thing we didn’t like were the fish eggs (I think that’s what they were). The Yasai Tofu Ramen was good, once again nothing special but it was still nice. The charcoal beef ramen was good. The beef was delicious & there was a lot of it too.
Overall if you are in the area & craving ramen, go here. It definitely ticks all the boxes just don’t expect to be mind blown from it.
One of my favourite Japanese joints; the ramen's good here but even better are the entrees and other selection of dishes. Some of the dishes we have tried and enjoyed here are the Buta Ramen, pork gyoza, yakitori, spicy ebi and miso soup. Hearty, delicious and really flavourful.
Their spicy volcano sauce saves the day! What a kick! It was chilli but definitely added a lot more flavour to our ramen. Ramen was so generous and delicious! Loved it!
Always come here for late lunch. Beautiful every time. The restaurant kept very good food standard. Not many shifted flavour based on when I ordered either eat in or take away.
Recommended Gyutan Don (Spicy Ox tongue) - not in the picture because I always finished it before get a chance to take pics😂
I really like this restaurant, to the point where I bring my mother here who also enjoys the food here despite being of Japanese decent, having had eaten the best ramen on earth. The ramen here is the closest to authentic Japanese ramen I’ve had in Melbourne so far!
——
I’ve been here many, many times and keep on returning. The staff are superstars and the food quality is wonderfully steady and fresh. Highly recommend you visit here for the ramen, soba noodles or sashimi. All so so good!
Had the chashu Ramen. Pork belly was overcooked. CBD ramen is better but can’t really complain for a suburban shopping centre diner food, hence the four stars.
Quite a good place for non authentic but delicious Japanese food. The vegetarian udon had huge pieces of silky tofu while the curry on rice was savoury and filling.
It's not a huge place so it can get quite busy at peak times. Service varies a lot but tends to lean towards the no frills side.
Definitely worth checking out.
I used to really love coming here every week, the food is amazing, the staff is friendly, nice and organized. The place is small but always crowded.
I've only been here once but its everything I wanted and more. Service is fairly basic and ordering is done by order sheets you fill in yourself but if you can accept this it is 5/5.
For where it is, and for how often I come here, it has to get a 4. The ramen is very tasty though perhaps a little simple (compared to ramen in Japan which is difficult to get here), sashimi, takoyaki, tori karaage, yakitori all delicious. A nice local place for good Japanese.
This place took us really by surprise! We loved their soba noodles. We ordered a don box of grilled salmon, rice and octopus balls. It was so tasty. To clear our pallets we ordered green tea ice cream and it was really satisfying. Service was humble and quantity was generous.
Have been here heaps since it opened and have loved it every single time. Finally a great Japanese restaurant in the area. Service is excellent and the food delicious!
First time here and no regrets. Ordered the asian salad, chicken skewers and fried eggplant. Were all delicious! Eggplants a bit too saucy but I just took some off. Will be back again!
Overall a satisfactory experience. One of the better places to get a decent meal in the plaza.
My partner and I ordered the Buta Ramen and the Volcano Ramen. I must say I was a bit disappointed with presentation and the Volcano Ramen did not have that vibrant red chilli oil look that it did in the menu photo. The flavour was nice although the Buta seemed a bit too sweet. The eggs were slightly overcooked.
Ambience is pleasant. It feels like you are tucked away in a little corner away from the business of the plaza. The staff were attentive and friendly. Easy ordering system where you can take your time without feeling pressured to make a decision.
Like I said, overall a satisfactory experience. It's great to finally see some Ramen in Greensie.
Hangry Mama no more!
Delicious, fresh, authentic food. Friendly staff. Quick service. The chicken curry was quite spicy but delicious. Will definitely be back again soon.
I have to go in as soon as I see “Ramen”. I ordered aso ramen ($13.50) Plus extra chasyu($5 for 3)=$18.50.
Their broth didn’t have the depth that I always look for, but tasted quite ok and had a slight chilli kick.
Their noodles were also ok, but a bit too thick for my liking. The Chasyu had a nice charcoal flavour on the back ground and softish with the fat, however chasyu was not flavoured at all and didn’t compliment the ramen which was really disappointing so it wasn’t worth getting the extra. It was a good ramen I had in a while I must say.
Staffs are really friendly and fast speed. Food is not bad, tried Gyoza, takoyaki and beef tongue on rice. Nice place for take away food. Just lunch time a bit crowded, which is reasonable. Second time already. Will be back again.

+4.5
Fantastic ramen, as good as Hakata Gensuke. Want to try the other delights on the menu but the ramen is too good and I cannot resist. Fried chicken is also pretty good.
Now all I can do is hold out for Ippudo to come to Melbourne and life is complete.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Food is always delicious and fresh and always consistently good. Never fails to make us go mmm with excitement!! Definitely found our go to restaurant forever.
For a first ramen experience this place was great, your typical shopping centre restaurant so a little loud. The staff are quick to serve and the food is very tasty!
Spicy ramen was very tasty. The deep fried tofu was especially delicious. Service was wonderful- friendly and attentive. Very relaxed atmosphere.
In between of fast take away and fine dining.
Friend and I had lunch there and we both go for different Ramen.
Friend like it very much.
Will certainly visit again.
Well done Daniel.
Always great food, great menu variety, really nice staff! Thought I would just go here when I was seeing a movie, but I’ve transgressed into ordering it to have at home 😂
Was here for a bite prior to going to the cinema. Friendly and attentive staff, we quite enjoyed the food. We had pork belly on rice, kimchi soup with pork belly, octopus balls and sliced beef with soy/ginger.
The Kimchi soup was my favourite and is of comparable quality when eaten at a Korean restaurant.
Overall a good experience and would definitely come back again !
Yummmmm! A Must have! quality genuine japanese food. Been coming for a while now and make it a point to come atleast once a week and have never been dissappointed. Great friendly staff awesome food quick service cant go wrong really.
We came to enjoy some "dunklings". The food was amazing. The volcano ramen was explosively hot. The owner came out made sure our kids were ok, offered advice on kid friendly dishes and made faces with our youngest. Fantastic food. Friendly staff. Excellent night out for ramen!
Delicious! Took us back to the fantastic ramen and other delights we enjoyed when in Osaka! Oishii!
Great to have something so authentic so close... see you soon 😃
was okay I had the volcano Ramen. Service was quick hot and tasty would go again. Have been to better places in the city and elsewhere but really only option in area if you love Ramen.
Great food and lovely service, love the ordering system as it makes the process a lot easier and there is less pressure to come to a quick decision. Always a pleasure 😁
Fukutontei Ramen. Nice Japanese ramen restaurant in the Greensborough shopping mall. Good spice ramen and fried chicken. Highly recommended for a bite.
Love the standard no.1 ramen and the salmon bento set! Best ramen we've ever tried! The green salad is nice too. Would definitely try more from the menu!
The Gyu Tan Don was delicious. It had a kick of spiciness bit wasnt too spicy, which was good, and the rice was perfectly covered in the light sauce. Would definitely come back again.
Standard number 1 ramen is delicious - perfect amount of chilli and very generous helping for the price. Staff are very polite and helpful as well. Love this place!
Awesome awesome awesome. Excellent excellent excellent. Delicious delicious delicious. Tasty tasty tasty. Friendly staff, great food. Cya next week 😉
Delicious food, quick service, and very friendly staff. We come here all the time and absolutely love it! We can't go even one week without it. Very good dine-in and takeaway travels well.
tasty ramen choices. i had the Aso volcano ramen - the broth was delicious, not too spicy. the food was served quickly and the staff were friendly . will come again definitely! (they are giving free samples of their matcha cheesecake to try so get in quick )
Food was very nice and the staff were really friendly. I had the fukutontei ramen and the fried oysters which were both very tasty. Would definitely come back to try different dishes!
Me and 2 friends decided last minute to come to this amazing ramen restaurant and im so glad we did. The food was sensational and very authentic also the staff were incredibly friendly and professional. Could not of had a better experience and we will be back. Thanks for the free matcha cheesecake it was very good.
Excellent menu, food, price, service.. I don't know what to say. They know what they're doing!
The clear and illustrated menu especially helped me.
Best vegetarian ramen I've had in Melbourne to be honest. Tried alot of places and they've always been bland but this is by far the best. Shame I have to travel all the way to greensborough plaza to enjoy it!
Decided to try out Fukutontei Ramen for dinner before a movie.
Food was hot, hearty & served quickly even though the restaurant was very busy. The staff were great at taking away empty dishes & were very polite. The person who seated us explained the ordering system ( you get a pad to write your order numbers on & they you take it to the counter to order & pay) which was very easy.
Edamame could gave five with more salt but I do understand that salt levels are personal to each diner too!
The ramen was amazing - one of the best I've ever had & I was assured that the tempura & Tonkatsu were just as good.
Overall a great choice for a bite to eat before the movie - only down side are the stool style chairs are hard on the back of you have issues
Fairly new establishment in the mist of the green section of Greensborough plaza.
Walking past this place on many occasions and always being chocker full i made judgement and attended one night with the family.
I have personally never tried ramen before so I thought I was in for a treat.
I ordered the following things:
Food:
• Edamame
• Shiki Set
• Rosukatsu Ramen
• Charcoal Beef Ramen
• Geso Karaage
• Curry
Firstly we received the edamame. Unfortunately I wasn't satisfied with them whatsoever. I've actually had better edamame to be honest. This serving was not salted in a good way at all. They weren't texturally not up to scratch.
Shiki Set was next and the whole plate was presented great I thought. Having never tried this dish I personally found it rude for the waiter not to explain what to do with the dish. Huge let down to my experience. I ate most of the things on the plate. Most were good, but nothing to rave on about.
The first ramen came out next which I was anxious about but I was pleasantly surprised about. The whole thing was marvellous. The pork loin was luscious and melted in the mouth. The soup/broth was simply sublime. Egg was great also and gave the dish texture and vegetables entailed made the dish just right.
My brothers ramen came out next and what a luxurious looking dish. The meat was cooked to perfection, however I liked my ramen better to be honest.
Quickly followed by the Karaage and that was just out of this world. The texture alone was just right and when matched with the sauce it was heavenly. Truly on point in every way.
Lastly the curry came out next, I wasn't really a fan of it at all. Their really wasn't much flavour inside, I found it tasteless. Sorry guys, a little underwhelming I'm afraid.
Concluding a new and inviting operation with some small let backs however an overall charming experience for ramen lovers.
Fukutontei Ramen is a nice casual place to go and eat. Had ordered the curry udon, was well cooked and a good spiciness that curry has and was served in a small pot with a small candle like stove to keep the curry hot. Would definitely come again to eat
Great food, easy to order. Friendly service. The food tastes fresh and delicious. Green tea is very hot and pleasant. Also the volcano spice is very spicy so if you're on a spice rush definitely worth a go.
Very hearty on a cold day like today, the miso/pork based broth on the Fukutontei Ramen here is fantastic, full of flavour. The chashu pork slices were tasty and went well with the ramen I ordered.
Surprised to find this gem in a shopping centre but well worth it. Easy to order. Good selection and good tastes. Will definitely come back for more and highly recommend
So glad had the chance to try this new place at greensborough plaza.
The service is great, staff are friendly. Recommended dishes by the staff were amazing. Definitely will come back again and try more food on the menu
Great customer service! The Ramen cooked perfectly and the soup base tasted very traditional. My husband and I really enjoyed it. We will definitely come back again'
Didn't have Ramen, but had another dish. Was really nice. Very delicious. Also ordered a banana milkshake but it was not worth it, grainy texture and a bit boring.
Coming here almost all the time now since they're open., foods taste great, fast serving with affordable price. If you don't know what to choose, they have bento with a bit of everything including miso soup😊
Tried this place out for the first time today and it was great. Left feeling very satisfied and my only issue was we ordered too much food because it was delicious but will definitely be going back again soon.
The ramen here is full of flavour and a very generous size! The gyoza ramen had what almost seemed like an egg based broth and all the extras on top make it more delectable. Will be going again for lunch!
Yum. This place gave us a very satisfying meal. The staff were friendly, the food great and the presentation very neat, clean and impressive.
They accommodated well for a baby as well and were very polite. The gyoza ramen was delicious!
Having a place like this makes me so happy! The selection of food and drinks they offer is excellent, and of course delicious. It's fresh, hot and the ramen restores my soul after a long day of uni.
Why only 4? Small things. Sometimes the food doesn't arrive all together or in the wrong order, or a warm glass holding my cold drink. But these are small, and shouldn't stop anyone from coming here.
New to this area. Got a dining area in Greensborough plaza. This time went to Fukutontei Ramen. Love their tempura so much. Should give it a try.
Fantastic food very affordable and filling very tasty and fast service cant fault this place at all will be back for more food again soon loved it
Tried it before a movie, and was pretty happy. It's not going to be amazing gourmet- it IS in a shopping mall- but the Kara age was crisp and juicy and the ramen we tried were solid flavours. My partner was especially happy with his spicy option! Not bad for a local
I've heard of the new dining precinct opening up in Greensborough and was told Fukutontei was the best one to try by a colleague. After flying back from Sydney late last night and totally exhausted and in need of some good food (that's my jet lag fix!) I took the better half to try it for lunch.
The ordering system is DIY. They give you a little ordering pad and you write down the number of the dish you want and quantities and notes then head over to the counter to pay and wait for your food. No mistakes or miscommunication that way - genius!
The choices are huge and I am a big fan of bento boxes so I can have a bit of everything. I went for the fukutontei bento which has a combination of everything I love - sashimi, tempura and fresh coffin bay oysters. The sashimi was fresh, tempura crispy but not oily and coffin bay oysters delicious. Other half got the spicy pork on rice and I have to say equally delicious.
Tip: the wait is worth the food as they are prepared fresh. If ordering tea - do the pot as I have done as I always find the tea for 1 person is never enough for me (or maybe I am just a big tea drinker).
Overall loved the place. Will be back to try a few others.
Vegetarian options were filling and vibrant with plenty of flavour! The juicy eggplant appetiser really gets the palette going in prep for mains. It is topped with a miso sauce which adds a delicate sweet flavour and protein kick to the well proportioned side. Didn't realise how full i'd be until the HUGE stir-fry was served. It is simply aromatic with subtle hints of spices, nothing aggressive apart from the chilli which really packed a fiery punch! :P Definitely a satisfying experience.
Wow new food on the green has great Japanese one of the best in the area though that isn't saying much. Fresh high quality ingredients are what make Japanese food great and this place has it. On my return list for sure
Delicious ramen and the salmon carpaccio was amazing!! The food came out very quickly and the staff were very friendly. Highly recommend and will come back again!
A tenant of mine.
DO: The famous fukutontei, buta or charcoal beef ramen.
DON'T: Like Ramen? Then do the Bento boxes if you can't decide or a selection of the entrees or tonkatsu as there's usually something for everybody.
TIP: Great please to eat just before heading to the movies. Great get from my leasing colleagues at Greeny.
Does one review an outlet? How? Is one reviewing the staff, or the ambience, or the generic quality of the food? Perhaps it shouldn't matter...
All thoughts that went through my head when sitting down for a late lunch at Fukutontei Ramen in Greensborough Plaza, part of the new 'Tables on the Green' redevelopment in the cinema precinct of the venerable old shopping centre. I shouldn't have worried though. Despite its unique ordering system (you're given a pen, a menu and an order booklet that you fill in yourself and hand to the wait staff) I was more than pleasantly surprised with the food that came to us. Vegetarian noodles for my speechless partner (laryngitis) and a Karaage Bento set for me, complete with Takoyaki, Tori Karaage and salad, rice and miso soup.
We were there for a late lunch so the place was very quiet but the food was hot, tasty and a cut above most of the outlet Japanese food I've had over the years. I'd certainly rather head here for hot Japanese dishes than to Shiki across the road. It remains to be seen how good the sushi and sashimi plates are, but I'm sure I'll have time to find out.
4.5 for an outlet, 4 overall. Maybe give it a go?
Nice Japanese ramen place opened at Greensborough Plaza. Ordered a charcoal beef ramen, yummy broth! I have made a special request for medium rare beef and extra bamboo shoot too. Super happy belly!
New to Greensborough, Fukutontei ramen provides an authentic cultural experience of Japan without having to splash out on cash. Flavours were on point however my overall experience wasn't fully satisfied. My cut of tonkatsu was 50% meat, 50% fat. Fix this up and this ramen bar will be the talk of the town!
