This is a hidden gem, we had devonshire tea which is like a mini high tea, cost was $25pp.  Service was excellent.  I would definitely go back to Cafe Societea.

It's not easy to find this place, it's nestled into a shopping strip with only a doorway and a sign.  We would have walked right past it except there were a couple of tables and chairs out the front that signaled that there was a cafe here.  You walk down a narrow hallway to the cafe itself.  It is a very 'girly' place with lots of beautiful china on display - they do lots of high teas apparently.  We both ordered eggs benedict, one with gluten free toast.  My only gripe was that it took a really long time to get our food, and as the place didn't seem that busy, I don't know why that was, but it was tasty.

Wonderful high tea experience. This is my first high tea experience and Cafe Societea has really made this experience special.
One would not expect such a gem from the outside of the small suburban shopping centre. The owners created such a unexpected wonderful atmosphere in a small alley between other shops. The tables are beautifully decorated in traditional English afternoon tea setting with all Royal Doulton tea sets and cutleries (and they are all made in England!). The food was delicious and beautifully presented with mixture of savoury and sweets.

The service from the owners was 5 star.

It's a unforgettable experience. I didn't expect something special like this exist in Canberra

A Charming Place. What a delightful little cafe tucked in at the Griffith Shops. I have been there twice now for high tea and will definitely go again. Janette is a wonderful host eager to please and nothing is too much trouble. The decor is great, the food was fantastic and plenty of it. We were each served a 3 tiered delight with both savoury and sweet choices. Ample drinks are included but bookings are essential because it is very popular. Doggie bags are provided but we didn't need to partake because we ate the lot!

Delightful People, Lovely Food. We use Cafe Sociatea almost every day for work. Phil and Janette are both absolutely delightful, and we always get little extras, which are usually worth at least double what we paid for our order. Highly highly recommend!

Absolutely loved this place for high tea. At only $40 per person, you get your own 3 tiered cake stand filled with tasty treats. Delicious! the cafe is quite small so bookings are essential. The decor inside the cafe is beautiful and old school with vintage presents of marilyn munroe, james dean and audrey hepburn on the walls. We had the old wooden table with beautiful rose china, silver candelabra and thick glass goblets for our water layed out. A lot of time had been spent on presentation of both the interior of the cafe and the food. The owners are wonderful, always smiling and bubbly, and ready to give you a great experience and make you as comfortable as possible. Take away containers provided as we couldn't finish all the food. Highly recommend!

Best high tea. We went to Cafe Societea for high tea for my son's birthday. We had gone to the Hyatt for high tea last year so we knew Cafe Societea had a lot to compete with. The food was the perfect blend of sweet and savoury and the servings were so generous that we brought home leftovers. The decor is sumptuous and the service met that balance of always being there when you needed them without intruding on the conversation. We were originally booked in for last week but had the booking changed due to very serious health issues in the owners' family that resulted in the cafe's closure. Even though the change was no inconvenience to us, the owners gave my son a box of chocolates and a special birthday muffin with a personalised edible birthday message on it. Their generosity and thoughtfulness made it the perfect high tea experience. I would highly recommend the high tea to everyone.

Great food. Manburger has real chunks of steak, cooked to perfection, very tender and juicy. The smoked salmon with cream cheese and avocado was just heaven in my mouth. Generous serving size too. Also got some cinnamon toast on the house. Will definitely be back here a lot.

Today, my friend and I enjoyed a mid week high tea at Cafe Societea to celebrate her birthday. Joseph and his staff were extremely welcoming and went above and beyond to make our visit most enjoyable and relaxing in this quaint, vintage style suburban cafe. This delightful ambience was created with beautiful fine china, vintage furniture and a rather eclectic style throughout. Cups of tea were hot and plentiful and our food was beautifully served on individual tiered plates. The scones were soft and delicious having been freshly baked and the jam, homemade. Our sandwiches, salmon etc were also fresh and the jelly and other sweets of a similar high standard. Having experienced a number of high teas in various venues throughout Canberra, in our opinion, Cafe Societea offer the best ambience, service and food. Will definitely be returning. The most unique cafe I've ever been to. Situated in what would appear to be the foyer/arcade of the local shops, the owners of this charming cafe go far above and beyond to make for an all around terrific dining experience. Lovely personal engagement, delicious food and high tea, relaxing feel, this is a top notch hidden gem of a cafe!

Gorgeous little hidden cafe in Griffith. The staff are lovely and really strive to get you the best service. Food is amazing and well portioned to the prices. Haven't tried the High Tea yet but from observing it looks delightful. Try going up the stairs to the rooftop garden eating section.

A group of 11 went on a Thursday afternoon to celebrate an engagement. The food was varied and the portions small enough for us to sample everything. One of the staff even stood on a chair to take our group photo. I lovely relaxed quality high tea .Would make a nice thank you present to take a special friend.
