There are so many great cafes in Hawthorn, with locals definitely spoilt for choice. One of my favourites is Bawa, with it's open space, floor to ceiling windows and minimalist decor. Lots of grey, white and green touches makes for a lovely spot to dine.
The coffee is excellent quality, nice and strong; and worth returning for. We weren't overly hungry, so we shared a bircher muesli and a carrot cake from the display cabinet. The cake was nicely spiced and moist, with the most delicious cream cheese frosting. Carrot cake is my favourite, and this mini loaf was a winner.
The bircher was divine. The creamy oats were topped with fresh berries, craisins and pistachios. This mix really worked with the flavour of the bircher muesli, and it was a satisfying dish.
Bawa is the type of place that makes you happy; with pleasant staff, excellent service and quality, fresh food served in interesting ways. The classic brunch dishes have fun twists, and everything is delicious enough to keep me coming back.
Had a lovely breakfast this morning, with the hype of Corona Virus we were glad to have a cafe open. We ordered Eggs Benedict which were lovely and a Californian super salad which was yummo..coffee was nice, service and cafe both pleasant..
Visited Bawa Cafe for brunch yesterday and were treated with a delicious meal. The decor is bright, clean and spacious and staff were friendly + attentive.
We ordered the Chilli Scramble, Pumpkin Piadini with chips and two coffees. For me, it was the perfect chilli scramble with just the right amount of chilli + cheese. It was a generous portion which I loved and was very full after! The pumpkin piadini was very nice too and served with perfectly golden, crunchy chips.
Bawa has a pretty standard brunch menu but seems to execute all the dishes very well. If your in the Hawthorn area, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a visit!
A group of friends and I visited Bawa the morning after a friends 30th and it was just what I needed.
I ordered the Smashed Avocado with a side of crispy bacon and loved it. It was a good serving size and the bacon was cooked just how I like it. I love when smashed avo comes with beetroot hummus, it just tops the dish off.
Quickly went into this cafe for a takeaway coffee (second coffee of the day). Noticed they had three sizes which was great, I went for the medium which was the perfect size and I selected a skinny cappuccino. The coffee was hot, tasted delicious and gave me the the caffeine hit I needed!
Would love to return back to this cafe to try out their food menu.
Lovely cafe, enough space, enjoyed time sitting there and read something. Also, not hard to find a parking spot along the street.
Modern and trendy. Had the Wagyu burger and chips for breakfast from their all day lunch menu. Wait staff noticed the intense sun rays blinding us and proactively turned the blinds down. Service was friendly and prompt. Soy latte could not be better. Bawa you absolutely slayed it.

The space was warm and inviting. Staff were attentive, friendly and efficient. The juices were deliciously fresh and you just felt great drinking them. We particularly love the ricotta gnocci (light as a pillow with a great tasting tomato base sauce) as well as the French toast (fresh fruits, lightly roasted brioche bread, although they should leave the star anise off the dish the next time). The eggs benedict was good but had too much different ingredients on it that I felt didn’t really add too much to it. A lovely breakfast all the same and we shall be back!

🖼Ambience: Well spaced inside and out with an open kitchen & good air circulation and have decorated their interior with artificial plants which is really beautiful.

🥪🥛Food: So we went right after Sunday mass and thought of trying this wonderful place since its crowded most of the days.
We ordered the usual Chai Lattes with Eggs Benedict ( All day breakfast ).
Chai Lattes were good and so was the eggs Benedict which had Smoked Ham Hock Terrine, Champagne Poached Apple & Perfectly Poached Eggs Topped w/Apple Cider Hollandaise,Maple Bacon Crumble.It just was so well blended and would love to try this again !
Overall: 4/5 rating for the dish we had. Good luck to them !
😱Lizzie’s first impression: I've driven past this cafe a few times now and I finally got a chance to try it out - the place is really minimalist yet the menu has everything you need.
🍩Lizzie enjoyed: The classic burger and fries on the lunch menu was a winner - chips were fried perfectly and the burger was so juicy and the bun was soft. I also tried the chilli scrambled eggs which you can't go wrong with. I also love their takeaway coffee cups - very trendy.

Sometimes there is a lot of traffic on this road and very restricted parking also - so make sure you go during non peak hours.
🥇Lizzie rates overall: didn't have to wait in line on a weekend so a perfect spot to catch up with friends and family. it's also not too far from the city.
Had a casual work next to Bawa Cafe, then I got chance to come here every morning. Classic La Marzocco Coffee machine, good table service and delicious food.
I would strongly recommend the slice beef and chilli scrambled eggs.
Finally got the chance to visit and try this place in hawthorn. Staff members were extremely friendly and quick. Although the Cafe wasn't very busy at the time we still got out food out only 10 mins after putting in the order.
Dishes are colourful and well presented. I noticed some ingredients that aren't regularly used in standard dishes like eggs Benedict or smashed avo which definitely makes for an above average dish
Nice airy, modern looking cafe on Burwood Road. They've got a fairly healthy looking breakfast and lunch menu options. Food was yum (but I was hungry that day!). Thought their coffee was great too and we had four coffees between my wife and I!
We’ve been here multiple times before and the service has always been impeccable. The outdoor seating is great for families with kids or prams too.
Beautiful interior and great service. Love how well litter the cafe is and definitely a great place for coffee. Food however was above average and is just another typical cafe standard. Would love to go back to try out the other things on the menu.

My partner and I had a pleasant experience eating out here. I have to talk about their food first. The food was so delicious and tasted fresh, they have some vegetarian options which I think it's always nice to have varieties. The green salad I had was absolutely yummy! I think a staff forgot to bring me a dressing, but I asked for it soon and they brought it almost immediately. The poached eggs were perfection and my partner loved the hollandaise sauce. It is hard to find a place that serves great hollandaise sauce surprisingly, so that was a good find! Everything they served to other tables, looked all so amazing. I don't know what type of beans they use, but the coffee was very great as well. The service was pretty good, they weren't too chatty at all, almost no small talks, but that could've been because it was a busy lunch time with only a few floor staffs. I would love it and would've given 5 stars if there was a bit more of interactions, but they weren't rude or anything likd that at all. Overall, I'd go again and highly recommend this place to anybody who enjoys fine coffee shop with great food!
Great coffee, friendliest staff ever and amazing food. Salads are hands down the best in Melbourne - from Californian Super Salads with kale and quinoa, to Vietnamese vermicelli noodle salad - add chicken, lamb or tofu. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Also on the menu is a KILLER cheeseburger.
Shut up and take my money.
Beautiful setting with indoor plants and plenty of day light. Menu is interesting and food is well presented. Coffees are of good standard. Lovely place to hangout.
