Review Beer Deluxe Hawthorn - Hawthorn

Andrew amazze
Lucky enough to attend Beer DeLuxe for a 30th where the attentiveness of the staff to the 40+ guests was outstanding. Must call out that all staff had a great understanding of the beers available and were able to cater to the individual likes, desires with samples always on offer. As the numbers in the photo depict, my šŸŗ journey afforded an in depth appreciation of what each beer proffered.

Great range of local and international beers! The chips were great too.
Michael Boyer
Great range of craft beer both local and overseas. Food is tasty. Lots of happy hour specials and event nights to check out. Have done trivia here for years and always enjoyed. Fried chicken burger was delicious! Highly recommend the cheeseburger spring rolls too.

Just dropped in for an ale and the vibe got me! Really good afternoon watering hole with a good range of ales. The barman knows his beers and is friendly and informative. Happy to do small tasters. Lovely upstairs outside deck.... but too cold in Melbourne for a Territorian. Overall Good Vibe.

Cozy local Beer DeLuxe. Service was good with attentive staff. There could be a bit more variety with the beers on offer though. Most were around the mid 6% range which is great but I did need to drive later that evening so it was hard. If you love high content IPA style beer this is the place to be.
Chris Priestley
Beer was great, plenty of options there. However the food was ok, that said it is pub food so overall I was pretty happy with this place. Good service and place to just go for a drink.

Venue appears to turn a blind eye to smoking in the footpath dining area. Zero signage about no smoking in this dining area. Had to leave due to the constant smoking from two tables near us. Table was also about 30cm wide.

Good nice place to hang out, relax and kick back after a long day. Lady at the counter on Wed 28th Aug night, superb lovely and very knowledgeable. My wife wanted hot water as she wasnt feeling too well and she went out of her way just to get a kettle, boil the water and served us. Would definitely come back. Food was good too!
Burgers Of Melbourne
Good selection of beer aka their name and a quality venue. Food is ok, the menu reads well, but could do with an upgrade in terms of quality.

I donā€™t know why I havenā€™t been here before lol. Sometimes you canā€™t see the forest for the trees. <br/><br/>So when my partner suggested we call in for a beer I jumped at the opportunity. The service was good and my La Sirene Praline at 6% which Iā€™ve never seen on tap before was just perfect! In fact itā€™s all craft beers here. Woo hoo, beer heaven. <br/><br/>My partner had a Two Birds limited release ā€œThaiway to Heavenā€ Thai IPA haha who thinks of these names? And that beer was absolutely awesome, and possibly better than mine but I canā€™t say that too loud hahaha<br/><br/>This is a great place to visit and on Thursday nights they have a Parma special at $15. Iā€™ll be back! <br/><br/>This place is definitely worth a visit.

A cool place to grab a cold drink and a bite to eat, Beer DeLuxe in Hawthorn is situated in a good spot and is easy to find. With a few outdoor tables out the front, there are heaps of places to sit inside in various different rooms. It is a little dark, with dark wood furniture and walls. It lends itself to European beer hall styling.<br/><br/>There is a great selection of drinks and service is really good. Staff are pleasant and up for a bit of a chat. It can get quite busy here, especially on weekends, but the staff still manage quite well. Food is available, and it sticks to basics like burgers, but they are freshly made and quite generous serves. Overall, Beer DeLuxe has a good vibe and is a fun place to hang out for a few coldies.

šŸ“Location: 329 Burwood Road,Hawthorn<br/>šŸ–¼Ambience: It is two storied with ample space for everyone inside and out to enjoy the night with friends and loved one or to watch a game night. The interior was decorated with subtle lights just to enjoy your mood for drinks.<br/>šŸ‘ØšŸ»ā€šŸ³šŸ‘©šŸ»ā€šŸ³Staff: Very Friendly Staffs<br/>šŸ»šŸ„—Food: Well let me be frank i go to this pub for the love of Fried Calamari and trust me its the best i have had till date, it came along with salad, chips and lemon aioli and of course had it with some fine brewed beers.<br/>The Calamaris are just cooked to perfection and so was the chips(more like wedges) with right flavours in it.<br/>But i am looking forward to explore more from them! <br/>āœ…Rating:5/5 (this is just for the calamarišŸ˜‰)

Will come back for:<br/>+ BBQ Ribs<br/>+ Beer!<br/><br/>This place has got a great vibe about it, and the service is great and friendly. The bar staff certainly know their beers! Thereā€™s nothing to write home about with regards to the food, although the ribs we ordered tasted great (sticky, tender and yummy) and went well with the beers. Will certainly be back to share a few beers with a few mates and some small bites. <br/>

Beer! A very solid place any night of the week. The specials are always on point. Dependent on the night of the week thereā€™s always some cheaper options. $15 all you can eat wings on a Monday pretty awesome

Situated across the road from Axil Coffee Roasters, this is a great place for chilling or hanging out with a group of friends. Spacious and a nice vibe offering pub fare and a wide selection of beers. We had the pizzas as the sweet potato chips thatā€™s been the rave of reviews on this place and all were tasty and well received, especially the sweet potatoes. Very friendly service especially the young man behind the counter who was very helpful and knowledgeable about beer and drink recommendations. <br/><br/>It wasnā€™t that crowded when we rocked up for lunch on a weekend but that was ok since we were in a group and it made conversations easy without too much surrounding noise that required yelling.
The Gastronaut
Always a good place for a nice drink and hangout with friends. This place gets really busy during the weekends. Service never fails to impress.
Vege Eats
Margherita pizza was reallllly average - flat base, pieces of torn up basil instead of actual leaves. Felt really ripped off that I paid $18.50 for what seemed like a pizza you could just buy for coles freezer šŸ˜’. Would come back here for drinks but not food
The City Lane
Beer DeLuxe was one of the first venues in Hawthorn to start offering a really decent range of craft beer in the area, when the former ā€œUndertakerā€ pub was revamped back in 2012. In that time, Beer DeLuxe Hawthorn has continued to offer a great selection of beers both on tap and in bottles.

As far as service and advice y on beer is concerned this place has it. The young guy who served us all night was exceptional. <br/>Very limited wine selection, but it's a beer place right, so that's what they have and plenty of it.<br/>Considering I don't typically drink beer it was great, we got hungry and needed food. Every few mins food was coming out, burger after burger, so we did the same. We ordered pop corn chicken (which was not traditional pop corn chicken) it was small pieces of chicken lightly floured with a very nice spicy aoli sauce <br/>The burger were nice but really not a tasty patty with flavour, quite hard and lacking any zing. The burger fell apart as I tried to eat it but as I was starving it was smashed out. What was nice and very cool was the chip/fries....Very cool look the way they were cut (see pics) and crisp, hot and punchy. Very nice.
Zomatoaddict
My favorite spot for drinking sour beer :) it gets busy and noisy but won't stop me going there . You can always find the right time to go and enjoy the craft beers

Holy balls... Just come here for the sweet potato wedges. That's enough to warrant the 4.5. The other pub grub stacks up pretty well but holy crap the sweet potato wedges were out of this world.

It's awesome, but unconventional couple of times, I'd say most of the times. Ā I visit at least 4 times a month, behaviour of staff varies according to their mood. But, music and ambience is awesome. Enough 2 hours street parking available so that's a relief.<br/><br/>$12 lunches are available only on Fridays, rest of the days it's gonna cost the double, do check that days specials. Best part of the Burgers served here is Chips, 4 out of 6 times it's awesome, the way it is done. Burgers and food are inconsistent, you cannot expect to have the same taste and freshness when you get a friend to advertise how great burgers are here. Ā DO NOT EXPECT that you will be rendered correct change when you pay by cash. You have Ā a wide variety of Beer, as the name says, best place to hang out with friends and to cheer for your favourite football team, there is place upstairs as well, never got Ā a chance to visit up. All in all a descent place, average crowd.

I am a regular since last 2 yrs to Beer Deluxe but I'm disappointed today!! Unfortunately due to a single staff member. I have always had a good experience all this while. All the staff members are extremely friendly. We never had an issue but when it comes to service I wish Niki as a manager could be as good as the rest of the staff.

I love this place! I came here on Saturday with two of my girlfriends. We started the night with a Pinot and a Sav which was great - beautiful wine. We then ordered the popcorn chicken, potato skins and the nachos. The potato skins, according to my friend, were great bland however the nachos and the popcorn chicken was so so tasty! I also absolutely loved the sangria jug - so affordable and tasted so good. The staff were fabulous - they were so friendly and approachable. They were always smiling and enthusiastic and that made the experience even better! <br/>
Brillat_Savarin
Always an amazing selection of local and imported beers on tap, and also in the fridge behind the bar. Beers rotate often which keeps regulars happy! Staff are attentive enough, but the bar food is very, very inconsistent. Some dishes ok some (sorry) really boring and under seasoned.

There is a new Beer Deluxe in Hawthorn. I have been wanting to go to this Beer Deluxe for a while. I have passed it a few times but they always seemed expensive.Ā Here they are renowned for their beers and beer food. And the footy. I had a voucher for this place. This place is a favourite for the locals with their beer sales on Mondays (all beers are $6) and their $12 lunch specials. They also have trivia night on Wednesday.

We walked past Beer DeLuxe on a Sunday and couldn't resist their $12 lunch special, Burger with Chips! We ordered a Cheeseburger and The Lot. We enjoyed our burgers very much. The chips were crunchy and perfectly seasoned. We also ordered the Buttermilk Popcorn Chicken from their beer food menu. It was so delicious! Not oily and full of flavours! <br/>Overall, great drinks, awesome food, will definitely come back!<br/><br/>
Peanut Butter Cup
I came here on a Tuesday night with friends to try out the $6 burger special. I ordered the chicken burger and was content with the food, but may not have paid for it if it were full price ($13.50). Although we didn't order any drinks they also had a great drink special of $6 spirits and beers. My friend ordered a cheeseburger and thoroughly enjoyed his meal, and we all thought the chips were really tasty. The place had a good atmosphere and was very busy. The burgers came out quickly after ordered, and the service was very good. I would come here again, and try some different food from the menu.

Ambience- 6/10<br/>Food- 3/10<br/>Drinks- 7/10<br/>Staff- 7/10<br/>Value for money- 5/10<br/><br/>Well for starters, this came as a major disappointment as we had our hopes really high about this place imagining it to be a beer paradise. Turns out it was all overhyped! Although they have a flattering menu enlisting numerous craft beer options from wheat beer to ales to ciders and what not, it so happens that they are mostly out of many of those good names. We tried our hands on wild smiths and australian ale, but just managed to finish our glasses somehow. As for the food, well maybe a wrong choice but the braised lamb ribs were such a disaster after which we had to order a bowl of chips. And guess what? Even those chips weren't done well. Highly disappointing experience, although we may have chosen the wrong orders. The place does remain overly crowded at all times of the week which remains pretty surprising a thing to us after our first visit!

This place at the moment, is hands down my favorite pub!!! If you love beer, the selection here has all my favorite. It may not have the range of Deja Vu but good beer all round. <br/><br/>But the food is so good, it makes me want to add a few profanities in this review to emphasize just how good it is. <br/><br/>We had pork belly, lamb ribs, fried chicken wings, sausage roll w blue cheese, calamari, popcorn chicken, fried sweet potato and chips.<br/><br/>Pork belly melts in your mouth with a wonderful glazed finish. Perfection. Lamb ribs. Some people like to have the meat to fall off bone but it's a ribs. The pinnacle of slow cooked ribs is, tender juicy meat with just enough texture to hold on to the bone. Full marks. Fried chicken wings. This is the most pleasant surprise for me. I pride myself for knowing fried chicken. It needs to be juicy and succulent with a nice dry crust tht is not greasy. This is abt as good as it gets. The seasoning is both original and fantastic. <br/><br/>The rest is pretty good too but I ran out of adjective to praise the food. Fries was disappointing considering how epic the fried sweet potato is. But I'm going to turn a blind eye to it. :)<br/><br/>Fantastic place for guys out and mini celebrations
Richard
I like it here. It is much nicer than the one in Fed Square.<br/>The tables have a great layout, the beers are excellent and the food is pretty good.<br/>Its really hard to find a good bar east of the Yarra, and this is about the best.<br/>It can get crowded, but hey, its a bar!<br/>The staff are friendly.

Beer DeLuxe is famous for their ability to combine a meal with the perfect beer within a cosmopolitan environment which retains a laidback ambience. The beer list is magical - guests escape on a journey through the worldā€™s luscious hop fields, expressed by a selection of surprising and delicious taste combinations.

Nice local joint to have a drink and snack food. The food is really quite nice. The selection of beer is terrific. Prices are as per normal. They need to have an outdoor non smoking area though.
Natalie Hart
What a great little local pub - nice and cosy, acoustic guitar in the background and a burger! Awesome stuff for a Friday night! My new local!

Like the place but steering clear of the food hereforth. Eaten there about 30 times and been sick 3 times now. That's not a great ratio.....

Came here with a bunch of friends. This is your bog standard pub. Nothing stands out as great. Then again, it doesn't pretend to be anything other than a pub.

Miss SL:ā€œThere are so many different sorts of food to enjoy in Melbourne; from Thai to Ethiopian, American to German, you name it, we got it, and boy do we do it well. But itā€™s not enough in Melbourne to do well in individual cuisines, so she become more and more popular; mixing traditional flavours from different cultures together to come to a single, unified dish. The same could be said for our beers. Gone are the days when Victoria Bitters or Carlton Draft were the Australian choice as boutique beers continue to thrive in our ever evolving market. Enter Beer DeLuxe, a humble venue celebrating beers and good food to boot.

The beer was free but the company was cheap. How could I not like this place when the beer was free?!? It was at an office Christmas party for one of the nursing agencies I work for. For this small corporate event downstairs from the main bar, they had four taps flowing, and only one of them was VB. The rest were microbrews. Bugger all that I got there late and only had time to sample one sleeve. And the company being in health care, they didnā€™t let us get plotzed -- the free suds cut off after the awards ceremonies. Boo! The free appys were OK too. The BBQ pork and sauteed onion slider I had was better than the under-seasoned chicken satay skewer I snagged later. The servers were nice to our mob. I liked what Beer Deluxe put on for a feed better than the slightly cheapo event the company sprung for.

Great value on a Tuesday U.... Great value on a Tuesday <br/>Upstairs chairs on the floorboards are very loud. <br/>There is no hot chilli sauce upstairs.<br/>All staff members are lovely

Oh what a year it has been. But why, oh why, did it have to end with one of the worst burgers of my life. I am sorry Damo, Jo andĀ Katie, that I made us go to Beer Deluxe when LeGrill is just across the road.Ā I still feel sick and bloated after last nights effort. Hmm, I should probably explainā€¦ OK, so I wanted a burger to finish off the year (Of course), and since Ā we were all at Joā€™s in Hawthorn I thought somewhere nearby would be the best option. I had heard about Beer Deluxe in Fed square doing decent burgers, although this was a fair time back, so I figured that Beer Deluxe in Hawthorn should be OK at the very least. Damo hadĀ lobbied for LeGrill across the road, but my argument was that I had been there, and I wanted to end the year somewhere new and exciting (Sorry again Damo ā€“ youā€™ve earned your veto on my choice ofĀ burger place for next timeā€¦). So we found ourselves at Beer Deluxe at 5pm on New Years Eveā€¦ The place was pretty empty, so we were able to easily order ourĀ burgers and beverages. Jo ordered the Angus mini burgers for $12.5, Katie got the Peking duck crepes for $13 and Damo and I both ordered the DeLuxe Burger, which is aĀ double beef patty withĀ lettuce, cheese, bacon, onion, mayo, deluxe sauce, and a side of chips for $20. We also got an extra slice of cheese and pickle added. So, letā€™s start with Joā€™s ā€œAngusā€ mini burgers. The sliders came out arranged three in a row, perfect slider size. However, instead of one fresh patty in each, the chef had just cut up a pre cooked burger patty and wacked the pieces into the sliders. So you had these square edges and a very dry final productĀ ā€“ very lazy effort from the chef. Katieā€™s crepesĀ were pathetic, tiny, and bland ā€“ there was not Hoisin dipping sauce, just three bland, rolled crepes, a tiny piece of duck, a little cucumber and I think some hoisin in the pancake then

The fact they call their drinks menu the "Beer Bible" is evidence enough that they take their beer very seriously...
Fauxboho
Microwaved wedges. Really? It's the easiest possible bar snack to make. Pathetic effort.

Thats a paddlin. Paddle of bevs goes down a treat, love me a good burger as well!

Proud local. Proud to call this place my local. Food is always exceptional and consistent. As for drinks..has a lot to offer.. All them beers..going to take me while to get through all the tastes from local breweries and the rest of the world. Managed to have a couple of cocktails here as well.. Always presented well and in good time.. Even better when they are $12 on Thursday nights! Service is ALWAYS friendly. I constantly take my mates here for the experience and they keep coming back also..good work guys!

My New Local!. We went on a Tuesday night and had a $6 burger and chips with a pint. The burgers were fantastic - the veggie one in particular! <br/>The staff, they were all very happy and friendly and took their time talking to us about beer. They certainly knew their stuff. The vibes of the venue were awesome. Definitely going back.

Brillant function room, genuine service and great food. Had a function here on Friday night, I cannot express how wonderful the service, food and staff were... Very generous, brilliant modern function room with private outdoor balcony. Exceptional audio equipment and staff always there to assist. Bathrooms were very modern, clean etc.. and we were offered our own private room so the MC could get ready<br/>Great beers on tap, guests ordered food from onion rings, steaks, prawns, burgers, wedges/chips etc.. they kept coming back for more!

Come for the Parma stay for the beers. <br/><br/>Although the beers and food are a little on the pricey side, there is an excellent range of quality imported beers and the Parma is about an inch thick, with triple smoked ham and a moz/gruyere mix and is easily the best in town. <br/>Well recommended.
Gleeka7
Will be back!. What a great place! Service was great, lovely smiles from the helpful staff, had chicken parma and it was very tasty. Will be back for more!!

Food was good, very nice atmosphere <br/>But I wish I can say the same about the service ): <br/>Especially when the waitress told me <br/>"Sorry I don't understand your accent "<br/>Well sorry for not being AUSSIE.<br/>Definitely not going back.
Justeatingsomething
Not bad.. Not a bad burger. Nothing overly special but it wasn't trying to be. Simple and tasty.<br/>Range of beer was a little disappointing but apart from that; enjoyed it and will be back
Foodie3123
Disappointing. What happened to the beer range? Seriously disappointed by what was on offer, if I wanted to drink Matilda Bay I wouldn't go somewhere called beer deluxe. Fine for $5 pint night, but never any other night. Food was very average.
Local Food Critic
Wow what an amazing place huge selection of beer from all over the world, very friendly staff the two blonde girls upstairs I don't know what there names are but they are very helpful and friendly , had the burger there was amazing will be going back for sure
Manmar
Bad Food, beer not cold enough.. Had 4 items off the Beer Food menu. Gyoza Dumplings we cold, tempura Calamari was heavily battered & too oily to eat, the Thai Sausage rolls were tasteless. The only thing worth earthing were the fries with garlic aioli. The bottled Asahi we ordered wasn't quite cold. We won't be back.
Joshsmith
Second chance, never again, not worthy of a rating. Last time for us. Staff rude. Food was cold , reheated rubbish. And the beer wasn't deluxe at all. I was told to come foe the craft beers. But all that was pushed was basic CUB beers , some Matilda Bay beers and flat Euro beers.<br/><br/>The bar staff were bagging the local craft Melbourne breweries like Hawthorne and Mountain Goat as rubbish.<br/><br/>Real turn off.<br/><br/>Won't be back.
Nell Armstrong
Had a function here, all staff were extremely friendly, polite and helpful. Canapes were good quality and space was perfect! Will definitely use them again.
Sulwyn Leech
Wow that was rubbish. Came on a recommendation and can honestly report this place has the worst tacos of any mod mex in Melbourne. Also terrible were the burger and sliders- its not that hard. Soft shell crab spicing was a disaster. Very disappointing.
Kady
Great place! We had the dips - loved the bread, the saganaki - the fig paste was a great twist, the calamari - lightly fried perfectly and the $12 burger deal - great value, it all tasted delicious and very affordable. The decor is pretty awesome with a great selection of beers on display everywhere. Definitely be back!
H.O.M.
This is a regular haunt for me. The beer selection is intoxicating to contemplate (entirely a good thing), the food is totally kick-arse (try the pork belly squares and always get extra aioli with your chips because believe, you'll want to bathe in the stuff) and the folk behind the bar are just lovely. <br/>In fact, yeah why not? I'll go there for dinner tonight. Fail-proof, every time.
Vlad
Best burgers in Melbourne!!!!!. The food is really good here. I had the cheese burger the best in Melbourne. The staff are really friendly. I strongly recommend Beer Deluxe. Enjoy!!!!!!

Great local. Came here for a few drinks with friends on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Ended up staying for dinner. Very enjoyable meals, and happy staff. Will come again for sure...

Reccomended. Great Selection of Beers, staff helpful and quick with suggestions. Food was great as well.

$12 burger, chips & beer special on Tuesdays! Very good value for money. <br/>You choose what burger you like I got the egg and bacon, I found it quite tasty and if you don't like beer the other option is Apple cider.<br/>Chips come in a cute little cooking vat!<br/>Highly recommend this restaurant if you want a cheap meal, nice and comfortable dining atmosphere with lots of cool beer bottles on display. Delicious good quality food.<br/>Huge international beer menu, there's a separate wine menu and also a good variety of beer food or dinner meal choices.<br/>downstairs is a really funky casual seating area with high stools and a bar. upstairs has formal dining you can reserve a table and another bar.
Sandra
Just stopped in for a wine, nice atmosphere and friendly helpful bar staff
Franko Cotso
Wow amazing place massive selection of beer the Asia tapas I's insane fresh local prawn spring roles are the best
Yu
Disappointed. Went for $12 Burger and pot deal. The deal itself is fantastic, however their beef patties tasted like factory made .Burgers from fast food restaurants taste better than that. Very disappointed. My partner had Chicken burger, and it was OK.
Wocksie
Nice beers - food okay. Closer than the one in the city and nice to have another dedicated craft beer pub relatively close . Beer selection is therefore great, and nice upstairs area to have a meal and some beers if the busy downstairs bar is not your scene. Food is okay, nothing great but perfectly fine. Staff was friendly too and will be back.
