Hands down, best coffee this side of Melbourne no doubt! Lovely staff & gorgeous decor. Love dropping in on my morning walks.

I called into this cage for a take away coffee. The service was friendly enough.
I did ask for a strong skinny latte and the second time I saId a strong double shot latte. Now my ccoffe was very good, as this cafe uses premium cows milk the name of which escapes me.
Unfortunately my latte wasn't a double shot. My coffee tasted nice but it was quite milky. There was some good milk froth but I don't like milky coffees.
In saying that I'd be happy to go back but I may need to ask for a triple shot lol.
Lesser known local gem. On a cold Melbourne day order the baked curry rice with poached egg. Everything in this cafe is as authentic you can get to a Japanese homemade breakfast.

As seemingly every new cafe is trying to shove overtly complicated and enormous plates of food down your gullet it’s nice to find a cafe that understands restraint and simplicity . The food here has a unique style blending elements of Japanese cuisine with european/middle eastern plating and flavours . It’s really quite interesting and eclectic food . Coffee is very smooth as well .
One of the best small relaxed cafes in Melbourne. Quite, friendly, warm, simple and just generally excellent. One can certainly feel the Japanese culture of perfection the owner brings to ever element of the cafe. The coffee is always perfect. The food is delitful. One of the best pumpkin soups I’ve ever had. Light but not watery and different with some small pieces of potato and onion. Awesome cafe run by great people.
Great coffee and healthy menu. However the food lack some excitement just taste as it is, like wish they add a bit say chilli or wasabi or soy sauce. Great comfort food if your tummy isn’t feeling well though
Such a lovely cafe in hawthorn area, small but cozy with vintage decoration. Customer service was a great and attentive.
Tana cafe offer coffee and spindle drinks as well as sandwich and rice dishes for breakfast and lunch.
#matcha latte#matcha Latte had the dull green color, but the taste was good with perfect sweetness, creamy and milky flavor was stronger than the green tea flavor though.
#rice dish#-baked brown rice with white sauce, ham cheese and salad. Very light and small portion lunch option. The creamy sauce was very tasty with healthy brown rice, made it a good choice. Rice was cooked well, not too sticky but more toward nutty flavor. I loved it very much.
Next time, I would love to try their sandwich and coffee for a simple and light lunch:)
Loved my first visit this absolutely cute cafe ! Cozy Cafe with great soothing music, all I needed in a rainy day . I had a soy latte and house made muffin which was low in sugar :)
This cafe is a little gem that we discovered on Zomato when passing through Hawthorn. Friendly, welcoming staff and yummy fresh food. Vegetarian burger was delicious and nice coffee. Definitely worth a visit, we will be back!

Had my take away coffee and banana bread at Tana cafe this morning. They uses Coffee Supreme 👍 Beautiful small cafe with well mannerd service I had in the Easter morning. Can't wait to try their food soon.
Quant, peaceful and efficient.
Coffee was a standout, matcha latte was a treat. I also had the vegetable curry with melty cheese on top from the lunch menu, which was so real and fresh that it would make my mum proud.

Despite being a local I have only recently found this place and it is now my go to cafe. Their coffee is consistently tasty and one of my favourites in Melbourne, a must try for coffee lovers.
Their menu is concise and delivers a refined homemade touch that is always delicious.
The coffee is top notch, with a lot of love and care put into every detail of every aspect of this typically Japanese café. Brilliant service and polite family-run business. The owner is Yoshi, who has poured his heart and soul into what he loves: TANA CAFÉ!

Two years on and it's still my go-to cafe for delicious coffee and sandwiches in Hawthorn!!! Yoshi and the team are always so beautiful and helpful, and the vibe is so relaxed and welcoming. I've honestly never been to a cafe where the coffee is so consistently great (and I like my coffees strong!). Just keep in mind it's a small space, so it's not ideal for anyone looking for a big brunch group.
Also, for anyone who read the 2 not-so-great reviews.. while I don't drink chai, I've walked into the cafe while they were freshly brewing it and have to say it smells absolutely divine, so can only imagine it tastes delicious. Also, they remind me (and every customer I've seen) of the surcharge every single time I've paid by card, and it's written at the counter clearly. They're also extremely accommodating anytime there's an issue.
Bottom line, if you like great coffee and fresh, delicious and wholesome food (none of that hipster smashed avo), you won't be disappointed!

Coffee was a tad thin, good flavours, temp was great! Not too hot. Super keen to try the food.
