Review Sardi Cafe - Hawthorn

EatOutWithJo
How cute is the latte art at Sardi Café : ) I had a lovely brunch here with my family. We ordered the southern fried chicken burger, the apple pie pancakes and the waffles with crispy chicken. The food was delicious, and my kids loved the pancakes. My husband said the chicken burger was great.

Super cute cafe serving up delicious coffee, smoothies and food. We ordered the burger and chicken tacos which were great. How cute is my coffee though 🥰 Will be back to try their brekkie menu soon.

A fantastic place for brunch, nice coffee and great service. Their waffles was a crowd pleaser. Also order the mushroom medley which was beautifully present along with smoothies for the hot weather 😋

Awesome cafe with $12.50 burger specials on Mondays and Fridays and $5 tacos on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Great friendly owner who goes out of his way with his staff members to provide quality service and to rectify any concerns without asking why. Highly recommended

Featuring their taco specials! ($5 tacos Tue-Thu) Ordered two fish tacos and one pulled pork to share alongside another dish - Wild Mushroom Medley ($20). The fish tacos were good, crispy little fried fish nuggets on a bed of creamy slaw. The pulled pork taco, was a little skimpy on the meat but otherwise the flavours were pretty nice. We loved the mushroom medley! Well seasoned sautéed mushies on turkish bread with feta 🤤 I love the texture of Turkish bread so I really enjoyed this! Also smashed a bowl of fries ($8) that stayed crispy even when it started getting cold! Also enjoyed the perfect cup of coffee + matcha! The coffee had the cutest little bear latte art 😻

We visited this cafe on a good sunny day with a little breeze, so it was a perfect day to be sitting outside. We had: 🍔Fried Chicken burger with fries🍟 Loving the crispy coatings on the chicken. It was a tasty burger with fries to match. Delish. 🧇Brownies Waffles - beautifully presented with striking colour combinations from all the elements of the dish. The flavour of the brownie waffle and overall flavour combination perhaps could use some improvements. The raspberry compote was still prominently sour despite the other sweet ingredients being there 🥪Pulled Pork sandwich (we chose turkish bread) it was quite enjoyable sandwich with the tasty and generous slow cooked pulled pork. 🍵 Matcha latte ☕️ Cappucino Their latte art are so adorable and loved how they include little caption on it! Overall a great cafe to hang with friends or loved ones for weekend brunch or afternoon coffees.

Super lovely and cozy local cafe with warm and welcoming staff. The menu is fairly extensive, with a range of typical brunch dishes as well as more unique ones. There are also many vegan and gluten free options, so there is definitely something for everyone! The dishes I had were beautifully presented, with well balanced flavours. The brownie waffles were a little bit harder than I would have liked, but it was only a minor negative that didn’t detract too much from the overall dish, which was delicious 😋

Sardi Cafe - Eggs Benedict $21 - Chilli Scrambled Eggs $22 - Chicken & Waffles $22 - Latte $4.5/ $5.2 Very disappointing experience and definitely not deserve a 4.4 rating. Firstly the croissant of the chilli scrambled was chewy and I could barely cut it up. I reckon it wasn’t fresh. Secondly the texture of the scrambled eggs was weird. All I could taste was some kinda chilli oil mixture. The waffles were dense and the green sauce on the side didn’t match the whole dish. I was glad that they didn’t overcook the chicken and it was freshly fried. The eggs Benny was average. The herbs of the fried mash potato were too overpowering and the hollandise sauce was on the sour side. The only thing I enjoyed was the latte art. Food was very mediocre and there’s a 10% weekend surcharge. $24 for this kinda of quality is absolutely not worthy.

Gosh has it really been 2 years since I've been here? Mmnn haha I don't think so.

Anyway I called into this cafe to get some take away brunch.

Now the service is absolutely delightful, so friendly, polite and welcoming.

I ordered an avocado smash for my partner and I must say that the presentation of this dish was superb. The poached eggs were soft, the avo was tasty and it was the little details that mattered. This was a great dish.

Now my fried chicken burger was d'lish. The salad was fresh, the chicken crispy on the outside and soo well cooked on the inside! Yummo. The only thing extra I wanted was a bit of extra mayonnaise. The chips were well cooked, some crunchy, and some a bit softer.

Overall this was another great brunch and I can highly recommend this cafe.

And it won't be 2 years before I'm back again, hahaha.

Previous review - July 2018
I had brunch here today. Wow what am awesome experience I had.

The service was excellent, and I was warmly greeted, offered a newspaper and some water. Lovely.

Food wise I had chilli flavoured eggs w bacon which was perfect. This came w scrambled eggs, small ham pieces, a good hint of chilli, crispy perfect bacon, fresh cherry tomato, fresh radishes and a rocket salad ... delicious! Oh and it had cheese shavings and amazingly good sourdough toast! OMGosh hahaha it was the best I’ve had in a while.

My piccolo latte was really good too. This place has genuine vegan and vegetarian options too, I.e not just salads lol

With seating out the back of the cafe and single seats at the window for people watching, this cafe is a must visit! And parking is easy too.

Finally got to visit Sardi cafe this morning after seeing it all over Instagram. Staff were nice, welcoming and attentive.

We ordered the Chocolate Brownie Waffles, Eggs Benedict with Chorizo and two lattes. The latte art was so cute and the coffee was perfect.

I really enjoyed the brownie waffles, it was a decadent dish yet not too sweet or heavy. The addition of the walnuts in the waffles gave a nice texture. The vegan ice cream, raspberry compote, crumble and chocolate sauce worked together so well. I was super impressed that these waffles were vegan! I'd definitely order this again in future.

The eggs benedict was such a tasty dish. It was served with a generous portion of bacon and the eggs were poached perfectly. The sriracha hollandaise was so yum, although there was too much on the plate.

Overall, Sardi cafe is definitely worth a visit for brunch if you're in the Hawthorn area!

Beautifully presented vegan chocolate waffles! Delicious!

Sardi was our first dine in experience after lockdown and we couldn’t have asked for a better place! The brightly lit cafe and friendly staff created a very welcoming environment and the food just topped off the whole experience!

There was no way we could turn down the banana bread French toast - an incredible combination that I definitely need more of in my life 🙌🏼 the French toast was very rich and extremely delicious, paired perfectly with sweet raspberry mascarpone and topped off with ice cream and fairy floss! The maple grilled bananas were out of this world! This dish had the perfect combination of taste and texture

The açaí smoothie bowl had some delicious ingredients and toppings, however it was slightly too watery for my liking. Highly recommend adding some peanut butter for some extra taste!

The malteser milkshake is a nice twist on the usual chocolate milkshake that paired perfectly with our meals. We also tried the chia banana smoothie which was equally tasty!

Overall highly recommend a visit to Sardi!!

I was really looking forward to my first brunch for months and was excited to try out Sardi. Unfortunately, the food was not up to standard. The pulled jackfruit was simply OK, but the saving grace was the sweet potato fries. The waffles unfortunately was where it really did not meet the mark. They looked beautiful and delicious in the pictures... But the taste was unfortunately really abysmal. There was zero chocolate brownie flavour and the crumb at the bottom of the plate was stale and lacked any flavour. I never leave food behind on my plate... But this time I left most of it. It's really unfortunate as the customer service and setting was great, but if the food isn't good then i won't be back.

We went to Sardi, a cute little cafe in Hawthorn, for brunch. We ordered their cheeseburger, teriyaki chicken salad, and of course, coffee. Coffee was really nice, and so was the cheeseburger with its juicy beef patty and generous aioli for the chips, but the teriyaki chicken salad was bland and missed the signature teriyaki flavour. The cafe itself was cosy; bright with modern decor, and service was friendly. Overall, not a bad brunch option.

In these horrible times when our country is in lockdown, this is the time our favourite cafes need you the most.
Support them by either buying a gift voucher you can use later on or order food you can takeaway.
Sardi is one you should definitely consider if you live in Hawthorn.
They have a great range of healthy, vegan and gluten free options using seasonal produce and cooked with lots of love.
We stopped by a few weeks ago thankfully before the whole pandemic broke out here and managed to satisfy our tastebuds with genuine, droolworthy food. Not sure if our eyes did most of the eating.
Started off with their signature Sardi sling to get my appetite going. It was so refreshing and perfect for the hot Summer day. Packed with all the good stuff- Apple, carrot, orange, beetroot and ginger so makes you feel less guilty when you binge eat on the rest of the meal.
Can’t leave out eggs when you’re brunching right? I’m not a big fan of them but I had help to eat them.
Smashed Avo is the newbie on the menu and definitely stealing the show. Poached eggs, smashed avo, roasted veggies and that balsamic vinegar was the best element of the dish.
Such a great balance of flavours!
We also tried the hangover cure which had poached eggs on sourdough, grilled tomato, spinach, bacon, chorizo, mushroom medley. Enjoyed everything on this platter except maybe I would have like the bacon to be a bit more crisper.(I think being a chef, I tend to be a little too fussy)
Finally ended with their signature Banana Bread French Toast.
This French toast is not your usual kind.
Believe it or not, it’s made with banana bread. Yeah what am I saying right?🤣
And then served with maple grilled bananas, raspberry mascarpone, almond crumble, fairy floss, vanilla icecream and edible flowers. Threw in some candied bacon too cos you guys know how I love my sweet-savoury dishes by now.
It’s sugar heaven indeed!
If you need to feel a little better as you get through all these big changes, call Sardi now!!

Sardi is a such a delicious and hearty little venue in hawthorn! We ordered the waffles, vegan board and the pannacotta which absolutely satisfied all cravings. The waffles were soft and lathered with decadence. The pannacotta was vibrant with a strong outburst of flavours and the brekkie board was perfection! Would highly recommend!

We were invited to Sardi today and I remarked to my husband how pleasing it is to see a cafe really stand the test of time. We have been coming here for years now and in the competitive cafe game not many venues have this sort of endurance.

Today I ordered the smashed avocado even though I wanted the brownie waffles but was trying to be good. Their latest incarnation of this dish is actually really enjoyable though, a classic executed really well. Hubs had his default chilli scrambled which came served on a croissant which was a cool way to innovate this breakfast staple.

For our third shared dish we went for the bircher which was served in the cutest coconut bowl. I thought this was one of the tastiest birchers I have ever tried and was sincerely impressed that they continue to elevate the standard here.

Further update
We were invited back to Sardi to try their new menu. I had a hankering for smashed avocado and their rendition is jazzed up with saganaki, charred corn and beetroot hummus looking like a rainbow on the plate.

My favourite dishes today however were the ones they brought out to us to showcase and I’m so very glad they did. The saffron rice porridge which is something I’d probably never think to order was truly delectable and extremely impressive. Beautifully presented and a perfect harmony of flavours. I absolutely adored the sweetness of that stunningly poached saffron pear and pistachio praline worked brilliantly as an additional texture.

The other dish that wowed me was the Korean fried chicken burger accompanied by the yummiest of sweet potato fries. The burger itself was a sight to behold. A colossal tower of deliciousness doused in honey soy glaze and kewpie mayo. I just can’t wait to go back!

Update
We were invited to Sardi today, a tiny cafe but it sure does have a long and exciting menu. I started with a mango coconut smoothie which was very tropical and while I almost went for the Oreo waffles I ended up with the banana bread French toast.

This was an excellent choice. While my initial bite was burnt (the edges) the majority of the dish was moist and delicious and I absolutely loved the brûlée banana with it. I was kind of annoyed by the excessive amounts of herbs on top though, I firmly believe these have no place on any brunch dish particularly sweet ones. Hubby got vegetarian chilli folded eggs which certainly looked impressive for a savoury menu item.

The main event for me was supposed to be the peanut butter pancakes that I had seen plastered all over Instagram and my main motivation for attending today but they didn’t quite measure up to expectations. The peanut butter itself tasted exactly like it was applied atop the pancakes directly from a jar of Kraft and it didn’t quite work with the sweetness of the chocolate pancakes.

The sweet potato fries with avo looked good but we were too bursting to even consider it. I will say the dishes are generous serves (befitting the price point)

Original review
I had the superfood breakfast bowl which was fairly bland but I guess this is a healthy brunch spot and you can't expect too much from a dish that is primarily made from kale and asparagus. Wish I'd gone for the hot cakes or even the porridge.

🚨 new menu alert
🍞 banana bread french toast
🍳 zucchini fritters
🥐 chili scrambled eggs
🍓 acai bowl
🏚: Sardi
📍: Hawthorn
————————————————————
📝: Loved this little cafe in Hawthorn, definitely cute spot to head to when you’re craving for breakfast or brunch.

❤️: They’ve recently launched a new menu, featuring the Banana French Toast, Chili Scrambled on Croissant, and much more. We loved the Fritters as well, so delicious and crispy!

The acai was pretty weird. Peanut butter did not taste anything like peanut butter at all! So better avoid that dish.

Sardi has a nice and cozy seating area at the back. A perfect place to plant yourself down if you’re doing some work. The tables are wide so of working, can accommodate laptop, coffee, meal etc plus it has enough space between the neighboring tables.

The service was fantastic and courteous. Coffee was silky and smooth and came with some funny and fancy pictures in the foam. Cute.

Meals are ok but would have expected larger servings based on the prices. The menu was varied enough. As for taste, nothing to complain about but nothing to harp on about either.

The friendly service, coffee and atmosphere would make me come again.

Sardi is a really cute cafe run by very friendly people. The cafe is also on @entertainment_au , which means you would score a handy 25% off!

I enjoyed the zucchini fritters especially when combined with the yoghurt, but there were times when I could only taste pepper instead of the flavour of the dish. My general comment on the food is to go easy on the pepper. This was true for both the chilli scrambled eggs and the zucchini fritters. Can’t fault the freshness of the produce, just on the finishing touches - less seasoning would go a long way! The croissant was also a little difficult to cut through, but scrambled eggs were cooked well.

I’m not sure if we ordered the wrong dishes so we are willing to give this place another shot (it’s also clearly popular with the locals!). Will be back!
*
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ambience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Presentation: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Price: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The food was beautifully presented and had so many vibrant colours! The variety of menu option for all dietary requirements was amazing! There was endless amounts of meals to chose from or alter to meet your needs. The falafel bowl was nice. It had really good flavours I. It and looked so pretty. The falafel had a nice flavour, although were a bit firm and needed to be a bit softer. Also more sauce would have been nice too. The avocado dish was stunning. The vegan egg was such a nice addition and tasted incredible. It looked like real egg. The avocado serving size was generous although was a bit brown so left a not nice after taste. The bread was soft and two big slices were provided. The jackfruit burger was a highlight. The jackfruit just melted and had an incredible taste to it. The soft bun worked really well with it. Just wanted lettuce and not rocket in side as it too over the dish with the amount used. The browned looked absolutely incredible. They were full of flavour. The brownies were just a bit too hard and need to be a bit softer but the rich chocolate and walnuts inside tasted really delicious. The fresh juices were so nice and a stunning colour. The iced chai was nice but lacked flavour. Definitely a nice place to go for beautiful dishes and a nice meal.

Cosy little cafe with a focus on cool decor and good food. A must visit for a brunch.

We had a lovely time at Sardi over the weekend.
We ordered their brunch bowl and poké bowl, both were perfect to kick start our day!

Their brunch bowl definitely had amazing flavours all combined into one dish, and plus order the pulled pork with it because it’s sooo good!
They also have fresh juices that we absolutely loved!

Cosy little café with a lot of charm.

Found in the outer streets of Hawthorn, parking was really easy on the off street parking options. It’s also an easy walk from Public Transport options.

What did we eat?

Lamb Tacos – These were most definitely my favourite dish. They did have a bit of a kick to them, however they were so good! It was completely worth the heat. (Please note: my heat tolerance is at an awfully low level. The heat would be perfectly fine for most of the human population).
Chocolate Brownie Waffles – these are definitely recommended for any chocolate lover. They will absolutely give you a sugar hit. The consistency really did match that of a brownie. It was something special that they managed to achieve here.
Berry Panna Cotta – I didn’t try this one, but the presentation was gorgeous. It looked like such a refreshing and light morning option.

Recommendation: I visited on a week day for brunch. This was absolutely the perfect time. I can imagine this café would become very busy on weekends. As it is quite a small location, I definitely would recommend visiting on a quiet week day to really enjoy the charms that this café offers.

Cosy & Charming Café
Easy Parking
Friendly Staff
Good Food
Slight Change Up to the Usual Brunch options

29.12.2019
I visited one more time Sardi as it was certainly one of my 2019 discoveries and I couldn’t finish the year without paying them a visit! A big shoutout for Angy for being such a hardworking person and always providing amazing service, great food. And I will DEFINITELY keep this one for 2020! 👏 This time this is what I had:

- Acai Smoothie Bowl - I had tried this before but they changed the presentation and made a little twist with the ingredients and I think this is a more accurate representation of the food quality of this acai bowl! I remember one of the previous times I had this, the presentation was good but not outstanding and the taste surpassed A LOT the looks. They clearly made an effort to change that and even the fact of using coconut bowls is obviously very much appreciated 🤗 the acai blended with coconut water and banana is terrific and even with a more liquid consistency than what o would have done it myself, it was absolutely amazing. The portion is good (the coconut bowl is one of the large ones and the colour is beautiful too!) and it comes topped with chia seeds, goji berries, buckwheat and fruit. There is the option to add granola or peanut butter for a small extra cost if you want.

- Savoury Waffles - I hadn’t tried this one as it was a new item of the menu launched a couple of weeks ago and they were grilled vegetable waffles! Very interesting since it’s not very usual too see in Melbourne this meal and I have to say that the dough seemed slightly uncooked and gooey and after leaving my impression with Angy about this l, he said that it was probably because they did a new batch of the dough and it probably hadn’t had enough time to mature. Nonetheless it came beautifully presented and with some fresh salsa on the side that paired nicely. The size of the waffle is not massive - it’s basically only half of a waffle in total, divided in half (so, two quarters) but there is also some smashed avocado underneath as well as picked mushrooms on top. I wish the portion would be slightly bigger like their sweet waffles. I personally loved this one but my friend weren’t a fan and said it had quite a strong taste. I think that combining a part of the waffle (even though not exactly on point) with the avocado and the mushroom is just terrific 👌 with two poached eggs I would say it was this overall good in taste.

- BBQ Jackfruit Burger - my friend had this meal and I picked a few of sweet potato fries - crunchy and slightly salted like you want them to be. He wasn’t actually a fan on the pulled jackfruit that had been slowly cooked in a smokey bbq sauce and I tried a piece of the pulled jackfruit once it arrived and honestly I do feel like it was lacking flavour. It also came quite cold even though we were fussed about that as I would still take a few pictures and would get cold regardless. With picked cabbage, rocket and some chilly jam, it all came on an activated charcoal bun of great portion and with some seeds on top. I think not only was this lacking flavour (although it wins in looks!) but it’s missing some crunchy element in the middle (like some Asian crunchiness).

- Panda Latte and Christmas Mocha - we also enjoyed a couple of the famous latte art drinks by their talented barista!

- Tropical Boost - I had one of their smoothies that I actually never had before and this was a blend of mango, coconut milk, rice malt syrup, passionfruit, coconut. Quite thick in nature and not as sweet as you wound expect because of the mango! They don’t any ice to it as you can clearly tell from the consistency and they make a beautiful presentation from it too!

- Iced Coffee with icecream - I actually thought I had asked this with vegan icecream as I am a true lover of icecream iced coffees but it came with diary based vanilla icecream so I couldn’t have it. My friend drank it and found it text refreshing!

—————————————————————————————
10.07.2019

Sardi.

I have to be honest and say that I didn’t know what Sardi meant and decided to do the most down to earth and obvious thing - google it 🤷‍♀️😂

And I didn’t get to any conclusion, although the answer that made some actual sense to me was a diminutive for the Sardinian language, a romance language spoken in the Italian region of Sardinia.

But after visiting Sardi today, here’s MY definition, a: Stupendous 👏 Astonishing 👏 Remarkable 👏Droooooling 👏 Insanity

The venue is located in Hawthorn and even before you get side, the cutest little (but not that little at all!) drawing of a smiling coffee cup on the outside side wall of the cafe, gets you in such a positive and bright mood straightaway. That smiley face is the real definition of cuteness! And not only that! Just before entering the door that features a massive SARDI sign on top, of you look down, you have a street carpet that says ‘be our guest’ and again Makes you feel so welcome and to this place.

And once you get inside... this will be your reaction wow. Not only does it have the most beautiful combination of colourful and chalk style drawings, that themselves are dreamy and inspiring, but the ambience is energetic, delightful and so positive with grins, smiles and laughs! Like I said, such a wonderful start! 👏

Angy, the person who runs this place, welcomed me with an outstanding genuine smile, making me and my friend so at ease. He kindly showed us the menu, distinctively marking with the allergens saying that every meal could be worked around it, to make it allergen friendly and then he showed us the specials menu. And my heart almost missed a beat 😱

Brownie waffles?! 😳😱 Vegan and DF? 😱 with vegan vanilla icecream?! Was that even real? I had seen on their Instagram that they had a Granola meal with a vegan pannacotta and obviously that was something outstanding and that I NEEDED to try because I had never eaten one (due to the dairy content) but this?! 😍 it got my expectations through the roof! 🙌

After taking a few minutes to think about what else we wanted, here’s what we ordered:

- Acai Smoothie Bowl with extra SARDI special peanut butter: I hadn’t see any of their acai bowls on their Instagram but once we got to the venue and did a little research we saw that it didn’t seem a very outstanding bowl so, obviously (😂) and foodies we wanted and needed to make it extra and find a way to make it match those decadent brownie waffles. After some thinking and some crazy ideas thrown around (seriously, even though it would be very hard to achieve, just the fact that Angy considered creating something so crazy such as combining two meals in one with pancakes on a stick on an acai bowl, it made me see how much this cafe and their staff and willing to please costumers and how open minded they are!) I came up with the idea of drawing SARDI with peanut butter! And not only I have to applause the work of art of the cooks - because it IS difficult to draw with peanut butter on an acai bowl not messing around with all other toppings!
In terms of final presentation I think that even though it is not the most beautiful bowl I’ve seen, it was definitely a good looking and alluring one. But even more than that was the flavour - yes, OMG! The flavour is definitely on point 🙌👏 and remember, flavour always wins! Sizewise is it of good portion and I was actually surprise that I enjoyed the consistency, even though it wasn’t extremely thick! Definitely a good and underrated bowl just from looking at previous pictures! 👏

- Sardi Granola - like I’ve said before, I had seen this meal on previous pictures on Instagram and I was very very keen to try. It certainly is beautifully presented and I would say that it would leave many people drooling just by staring at it. It has home made granola that is not too sweet and includes some buckinis (always a favourite) and some berry fruits for extra colour and decoration 👌 About the pannacotta itself well, I don’t have much experience with these and I found that it had no particular flavour - I couldn’t even find out what the main ingredient could be. I was told by the chefs at the end that it was coconut based, which surprised me as I would have thought that the flavour would be more intense (like coconut yogurt I guess!). It is not very sweet either and even with the raspberry jam underneath, I feel like the whole meal could have a little more sweetness to it. Of course that it is important to bear in mind people have preferences when it comes to sweetness levels but my friend also agreed that in this particular meal we could take that chance and add maybe more jam on the bottom or have a top spread with jam too. This meals also comes with almond milk on the side, which again is not sweet by itself, so I I think that a little more natural sugar from a jam would definitely work and make it even more enjoyable - a real treat! 🥳Another thing and and even though I forgot to ask is to have the option of having warm milk instead of cold! It actually worked well nonetheless but I think it could also be a good option, specially for the winter.

- Brownie waffles - SARDI has special meals very frequently which shows that the owners are willing to adapt and create meals based one their costumers feedback. That says a lot about a cafe. And I had seen pictures of Banana Waffles, Nutella Waffles, Oreo Waffles and to my surprise… they had a special of BROWNIE waffles! Of course I was sold straight away 😍 But not only sounds the meal very promising but your dream actually becomes reality and surpasses all expectations. This meal is planned to be a standard on the menu for the winter and I think it will without a doubt become insanely popular. Because when does BROWNIE + WAFFLES sound bad, right?! 🥳 I kindly asked the waffles to be placed on top of each other (because it would give a better photography shot) although the version that they are planning to deliver has a slight different layout, with all 4 waffles placed on the same level and a scoop of ice cream on top. First, when it comes to presentation: WINNER - I think that description and the pictures speak for itself. Tastewise I am a not a huge fan of dark chocolate but this dark chocolate was JUST RIGHT 👌yes, they nailed it and because of the vanilla ice cream, the richness of the chocolate doesn’t become too overpowering and trust me when I say it feels like you are eating a pint of vanilla chocolate chip and chocolate swirl ice cream! 🙌 THE BEST! The waffles were nicely cooked too - not mushy and they had good thickness and consistency. Another thing that really stroke me in this meal was the crumbles - these were just insanely good and it made that brownie vanilla combo EVEN more indulgent! NO WORDS, really. This one you have to try it for yourself and it would definitely disappoint!

- Mushroom Forrest - a REVELATION. I think that savoury traits might be growing on me even though I am a true sweet type of person. I am a huge mushroom lover but I don’t think I had ever seem king oyster mushroom with such a beautiful presentation! Pairing these with portobello mushroom might sound excessive but it’s really not and it works divinely! 👏 The kale is deliciously cooked and with a touch of crispiness but the absolute pot of goal in the meal in the pesto cashew cream. SERIOUSLY. NO WORDS. I would say it’s better than any avocado or beetroot spread I have ever tried and just the thought of it makes me want to eat it again! We added two poached eggs to this meal and truly it becomes the ultimate perfect meal!

- Almond 79Tu Cacao Golden Latte: two main thoughts about this drink. The first is about the taste - I don’t know what I was expecting for a cacao golden latte but I guess something similar to a mix between turmeric and chocolate. I had never tried 79Tu before and I have to say that it is not a bad non coffee based drink but I wouldn’t say that I would rate it as a preference of mine. The is nothing that stands out on the taste but I would say that maybe adding some more cacao or even cinnamon to it could make it work better and create a more flavoursome drink. Second thing and about the latte art: 👏👏👏 I wasn’t expecting any drawing or special latte art and when the drink arrived with the cute bear INCLUDING some adorable paws and tiny hearts (that I imagine that must have been quite difficult to do!) I was definitely overwhelmed! And considering that that was done with almond milk that is even more impressive! Just for that the drink would deserve an award! 🥇

- Matcha soy latte: very pleasant to drink and the matcha was perfectly blended in the soymilk. Definitely a smooth and nourishment moment and again, it was wonderfully presented with some flower latte art instead of the conventional and usual leaf. Cherry, you are undeniably a talented barista!

It was the first time I visited Sardi and I was so overwhelmed by not only the service provided and their meals, but from the experience altogether. There were definitely other things on the menu that I wanted to try and I am pretty sure the cafe will soon make new and equally tempting specials! 😍 It was a delightful brunch and a place I would recommend everyone to add on their must-visit list! Be prepared to be amazed and to dream of going back for more! I can also say: COUNT ME IN! 🥳

My first visit to Sardi!

And it didn’t disappoint! The staff were just so lovely, and I was straight away super excited about their menu. There is honestly something for everyone.

I ordered the Detox Brunch Salad, and added mushrooms and poached eggs - an absolute winner! So many heavenly flavours and textures. I could eat that every day, and be happy! It was bright and colourful, and absolutely hit the spot.

The Açai Bowl was a very pretty dish, with a great consistency and the added PB was LOVELY. Perfect for Summer, or any day.

Lastly was the Hangover Cure, great name and is exactly that! Perfect for a Sunday morning. Portion size was very generous.

Smoothies were lovely, and we loved the festive art on our hot chocolate - a great touch.

Overall, you will leave with a very happy tummy. Loved it here!

I love Sardi café! Such a friendly and cute place with a great atmosphere.

What I love most is the amazing coffee and food! There are so many delicious vegan options which makes me very happy.

I would definitely recommend the BROWNIE WAFFLES - omg - so pretty and delicious, with great flavour and texture.

The Jackfruit burger is SO LOADED and delicious. Served with sweet potato fries and avocado dipping sauce. SO GOOD!

THe Falafel bowl is wonderful too. The balls themselves are so tasty :)

I NEEEED to go back and try the savoury waffles, mushroom porridge and more! Can't get over hoe varied and unique the menu is :)

What a beautiful, cute and cozy cafe in Hawthorn. The dining situation is quite small but makes you feel like you’re at home. The staff were friendly! Their sardi juice was delicious and a good size. The smashed avocado had TWO poached eggs... yes you read that correctly and that’s becoming harder to find! I’ll be coming back for sure.

Friendly and quick service.
The meals were tasty, but the portion size of the Chilli scrambled eggs and Honeycomb pannacotta waffles (special) was too small, and we were left hungry.
We couldn't really taste any chilli in the scrambled eggs which was also a bit disappointing. It lacked flavour.
But overall it was a pleasant breakfast.

The gem on Church Street in Hawthorn! We visited Sardi on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed. There was a good range on the menu and they do cater for V, VG and GF dietary requirements. Took us a while to decide what to get as everything sounded really good. The decor inside was really nice and warmth and they do have a nice street art on the wall.

We finally decided on the Eggs Benedict, Brownie Waffle and the Falafel Bowl and for drinks we went with the Sardi Sling which was a juice and a Green Goodness Smoothie.

The dishes were nicely presented and we really enjoyed it. THe Eggs Benedict were really nice and the pork croquette was really good. Love how they included the apple slaw in the dish to give it that extra crunch.

The Falafel bowl was really nice and they do have the option of making it V & VG. I really liked the combination of the quinoa and beetroot hummus mix as it went really well with the falafel. The falafels were homemade and they were very moist on the inside. Finished it off with a sweet ending and the brownie waffles were yums. They added in walnuts in the waffle and it just gives it a nice crunchy texture and it went really well with the fruits on the plate as well.

Overall, we really enjoyed our meal here at Sardi, the staff were really friendly and the food was good. If you are ever in the area, head over to this cafe which is popular amongst the locals to get your brunch fix.

We dined at the amazing Sardi to taste their new spring menu & boy it was delicious!

Taking advantage of seasonal produce this menu will certainly tantalise your tastebuds!

The Asian Chicken Salad was next level delish!
Expect sweet, salty, acidic, crunchy, with melt in your mouth chicken pieces in this salad, it’s an absolute taste sensation!⁣

The tropical boost pancakes were super fluffy smothered in passion fruit curd & topped with cotton candy, vanilla meringue, vanilla ice cream & almond & coconut granola.

Are your tastebuds watering yet?

The Korean fried chicken burger was also next level WOW! W/ honey soy glaze, kewpie mayo, KIMCHI (standout) slaw & thick cut fries = yum

Coffee was amazing and presented beautifully!

Can’t wait to try more of this seasonal menu soon!

I’ve wanted to check out Sardi for a while, and with a busy food schedule and working full time I finally made it! It’s a quaint and small venue but they have seating out the back to accommodate larger groups!

We enjoyed refreshing smoothies and juice to start and then order our food. The chocolate brownie waffles will definitely curb your sweet tooth!! The eggs benny with pulled pork was delicious and the nourish bowl is perfect for those looking for something yummy & healthy!

Defs head down for a good breaky or lunch!

Always surprised with how delicious everything is at Sardi! Their new menu is filled with yummy dishes just like their old one but even better! I highly suggest trying their savoury waffle! It was definitely my favourite

We have been wanting to visit Sardi for the longest time and I am so happy we finally did!
We both opted for their incredible pancakes and also got a side of the delicious sweet potato chips. The food was beautiful, it was presented so nicely and the taste of the dishes were so fresh and vibrant and full of texture.
The cafe it’s self is very cute and quaint, it isn’t to small or too big, it’s the cutest little cafe with lots of amazing food to offer.
We would highly recommend Sardi and hope everyone’s gets down to hawthorn to try these pancakes!

You can see a couple dancing and jumping accompanying by other cartoon characters inside our mind If you can probe what’s happening when we won the brunch raffle or competition. We won again!! Yuuueayyyyy… We’re so happy and for some reasons that day was brighter and shinier comparing to other days after knowing that we won a competition run by fo0die (2 dishes + 2 drinks at Sardi Cafe).

Yay: Cappuccino, Cacao Kicker, Brownie Waffles
Nay: N/A

Came here for lunch a while ago, had the ham and cheese croissant, matcha latte coffee and the detox salad ( couldn’t remember the name sorry ) . The latte art is adorable! Matcha latte and coffee are delicious, love the wasabi dried peas in the salad , tastes refreshing and healthy.

Well known cafe in Hawthorn, really does serve up a yummy feed. Had the Korean Fried Chicken Burger, Brownie Waffles and the Hangover Cure which is like a big brekkie! I'll need to come back because the food was sooo delicious and in such a cute spot too - great for photos outside!

Visited this popular hawthorn cafe and had a lovely brunch with my friend.

I ordered the cacao kicker smoothie which had cacao, banana, peanut butter and almond milk. The smoothie was thick and tasty it also had some crunch with the addition of goji berries on top. My friend had a cappuccino which she enjoyed.
I ordered the chilli scramble which I was worried was going to be spicy so I ordered it without fresh chilli which ended up being perfect. The flavours of this omelette were so tasty as it had mushroom, chorizo and tomato within the scramble and was garnished with parmesan and rocket. I also had a side of bread which was great to soak up all the juices.
My friend had the vegetable fritters which she enjoyed. She also requested for the egg to be over easy which they were happy to change.

Some of the sweet dish on the menu caught my eye so I’m keen to try them next time.

Sardi Cafe -

Sardi is a beautiful little cafe in Hawthorn with friendly staff, delicious dishes, and colour everywhere!! I always have the best time every visit and this was nothing short of amazing!! 🙌🏽

I had the:
Blueberry panna cotta - with house made granola, fresh fruit, the texture was smooth, vibrant and the seasonal fruit was a nice edition. The granola was crunchy and filling and worked well with the dish - check out the pics for the amazing presentation 😍
Then açai smoothie bowl - was a perfect consistency topped with bananas, goji berries, chia seed and more. Healthy yet filling and delicious always love a good açai bowl to get the day started.🥥
The pumpkin wellness bowl - sooo much colour and goodness in this bowl, it was so fresh and delicious filled with pumpkin, mushroom, pickled red cabbage, grilled asparagus, spinach and more. A good balance and kick start of energy keeping you full and feeling good.🥙
Coffees - always love a good coffee and these did not disappoint!!!! ☕️

The atmosphere is friendly and warm, with both inside and outside seating and space, can’t wait to go back! ❤️
#eatdrinkmelbs

Went to have a wonderful brunch hosted by @sardicafe 🌺 I did try a few items from their menu, including a brownie waffle, korean fried chicken burger and mushroom bruschetta

🍫 (GF/V) brownie waffles with cotton candy, raspberry compote, vegan coconut ice cream, fresh fruits. Their brownies are really chewy and moist plus i love how they use fresh fruits to balance out the sweetness. Perfect combination 👌

🍔 korean fried chicken burger with honey soy glaze, kewpie mayo, kimchi, slaw and sweet potato fries. Although i am not a big burger fan but i enjoyed eating it. I love the smells of it, feels like i am in a korean fried chicken place. 😂

🍞 (GF/V) mushroom bruschetta with truffle oil, grilled mushroom medley, sauteed spinach on sourdough with vegan pesto cashew cream. From all the menu that i ordered, this is my favorite one. The toast is not thick, so you can easily cut it and crisps beautifully. The mushroom was cooked perfectly with a well browned color. Great texture and flavor

❤️ Overall, i really enjoyed all the foods and felt welcome by their kind and friendly staffs.

finally visited Sardi after hearing amazing things and seeing some amazing photos from this cafe! the staff were so beautiful, welcoming and friendly, attending to all our needs quickly and service was amazing. I loved the coffee art and the coffee was delicious!

came here for my Brother’s birthday because i saw Sardi offer so many gluten free options as we are both coeliac. I came especially for the gluten free/vegan brownie waffles!!!! heard amazing things about it and i was so excited to try. I was in heaven, definitely my favourite dish! the presentation of all the food we had was incredible. We also tried the blueberry pannacotta and the smashed avo, both delicious and packed full of flavour!

extra big shout out and big thanks to the staff for putting candles on the waffles to wish my brother a happy birthday, really made his day! :)

ill definitely be back to try more amazing food on their menu!
The Hungry Vegan
Great coffee, friendly staff and a beautiful little spot. The menu options for vegans is great with many of the options vegan friendly. However for me on the day I think I made the wrong choice with the detox salad. It lacked a little flavour and substance as a vegan option so I was slightly disappointed. However in saying that would not rule out going back to give the other menu items a crack!
Vegan Foods Melbourne
The food here is divine! We had the falafel bowl, mushroom forest, vegetable fritters plus the granola with vegan Panna cotta- All so tasty and beautifully presented.

There are so many hidden gems when it comes to cafes in Melbourne. Not all great cafes are on main roads, or in busy shopping strips. Sardi is evidence of this. In the back streets of Hawthorn, sitting nonchalantly on a corner block, a cool mural wall beckons you to come inside, and once you do, you will be so glad that you did. There is a chalkboard wall with more cool art, and several tables. It's small, but cosy and the staff are super friendly.

Arriving on an icy winter's day, we started with fantastic coffee and a yummy smoothie. There are some great choices on the menu, but the cold got the better of me so I ordered the rice pudding porridge. Wow, this was old school comfort food just like Nanna used to make; but jazzed up with crumble and a poached pear. This truly was delicious, and we savoured every spoonful.

We also wanted to try the new chocolate brownie waffles, and they too didn't disappoint. Huge homemade chocolatey waffles with the hidden surprise of walnut pieces. Topped with ice cream, chocolate sauce, fresh fruit and Persian fairy floss; this dish was epic in both aesthetics and taste. The fresh berries and banana helped cut through the richness of the waffles, and the texture of the waffles themselves were crispy and chewy.

Sardi, with it's position on top of a hill overlooking the city, is just the kind of place to go to when you want great food and service without pretension. Simple food with modern twists, a cafe with lots of charm, and service with a smile...and of course, fabulous coffee. Sardi has earnt it's great reputation by sticking to these rules, and by doing so, has garnered themselves a loyal following in the Melbourne cafe scene.

Thank you so much for hosting us.

Sardi is a nice and cosy place for breakfast and coffee, in a quiet area of Hawthorn. The staff were friendly and service was quick. Price is very reasonable.

My father and I visited this café this morning and were thoroughly impressed. From the smiles at the door, to the cute and impressive designs on our delicious coffee and our mouth-watering dishes.... we will be coming back.

This place has so many vegan or vegan options to choose! Would definitely come back.

Service was nice. My falafel bowl was delicious 🤤 but my friend’s salad was too salty 🧂 ugh kind of under expectations. Hopefully the chef could put less salt next time lol

I had a really pleasant and welcoming experience dining at Sardi Cafe. The staff were amazing and so friendly and definitely make the whole experience so welcoming.

The food was delicious! We ordered the hangover cure which is like a big breakfast and oh boy, it was definitely a cure I say haha. Also, ordered the vegetable fritters which had a really good texture and flavour and wasn’t such a heavy dish which was perfect. For dessert we got the blueberry pannacotta which also had granola with it and you pour milk into the bowl. It definitely felt like breakfast with a twist of sweet fruit in form of pannacotta. It satisfies your sweet and savoury cravings for sure.

Lastly, coffee was amazing!

I definitely recommend this cafe if you’re around the area and looking for good food in a friendly environment and great atmosphere.

Such a lovely experience at Sardi cafe over the weekend.

I loved the interior of the cafe, especially the large wall on the right that had a lot of words regarding brunch and some cute drawings on it. The space feels smaller, but not super crowded. I sat on the bench against the window, and there was a bit of sunshine that day even though it was cold, so it was a really nice vibe.

Coffee: I had the cutest flat white with almond milk, which had some beautiful latte art in the shape of a little kitty/bear!
Saffron Rice Pudding: Not a usual dish I would order, however I was pleasantly surprised! It had a great balance of sweetness with a savoury note. The poached pear added slightly more sweetness to the overall dish, and it wasn't super mushy.
Korean Fried Chicken Burger: This burger had a huge piece of fried chicken inside it which was amazing. I really enjoyed the Korean flavour in the sauce, which tasted like it had come directly from a Korean fried chicken shop! It was paired so nicely with the yummy sweet potato fries.
Brownie Waffle: This was a very decadent dessert. It was sweets galore & definitely not an everyday food! The texture of the waffle was denser than a normal waffle but not as dense as a brownie. The brownie elements also came through in the walnuts being included in the waffle. The toppings on the dish went really well together.

The staff were really friendly and welcoming. I wish I was a regular here, because I saw some people getting their name put into their coffee which is awesome! I can't wait to come back to this lovely cafe

I was lucky enough to go to Sardi on the weekend with a friend. It was such a cute, warming venue, especially with the addition of the chalkboard artwork wall. Immediately I felt welcomed and cozy, sheltered away from the cold Melbourne weather.

The coffee was just right, not too bitter. I thoroughly enjoyed it as a starter to my meal as it went down extremely smoothly.

For food, I was tossing up between the pumpkin bowl or the Falafel bowl. I decided to go for the Falafel bowl and I am so glad I did. The Falafel was lightly fried and definitely not soggy which I was so happy about. Eaten with the fresh beetroot hummus, they were delicious and not dry at all. The fresh veggies were complemented by the pickled cabbage, allowing for the bowl to have complexity. I definitely would recommend this dish.

My friend had the mushroom bruschetta and had absolutely no complaints. She loved the deep umami flavour of the mushrooms and appreciated that the greens were also packed with flavour.

All the staff were so lovely and accommodating, it made the experience all the more enjoyable and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Its even worth traveling for if you are not in the area.

Visited this beautiful cafe today. It was super cold but we were greeted by the warmest welcome by the Sardi staff. We started off the day with a cappuccino and a hot chocolate. Beautiful coffee art! The bear was the cutest!

We ordered the Korean Fried Chicken Burger with a side of sweet potato fries. This was delicious, the kimchi was perfect, the burger was not soggy at all! Usually, when I have burgers with kimchi in it, it's usually a bit soggy, not this one!

We also ordered the Brownie Waffles. It was so beautiful and super yummy. I also just realised this dish was vegan and gluten free, which makes it even better! Super happy with this dish!

I honestly recommend this place. They have heaps of vegan and non-vegan options, so there's something for everyone!

Sardi has been one of my favourite cafes in Melbourne for quite sometime now and continues to get better and better. We visited over the weekend to trial the new menu and were absolutely obsessed! We ordered the hotcakes, brownie waffles & detox salad which were all wonderful options, large portion sizes and absolutely delicious! The brownies were super soft and delicious, beautifully plated & an amazing combo! The detox salad was fresh and delicious the perfect dish to break up the sweetness. Sardi is a wonderful spot for brunch with friends, a coffee on the go or a large group function. Ideally located close to the tram line, with plenty of parking and a view of the city! Can’t wait to visit again soon! Thanks for having us!

Visually vibrant and absolutely tantalising to the taste buds. With vegetarian and vegan friendly dishes as well as the regular with dessert dishes as well. Sardi is an exceptionally instagram-able cafe with an excellent spread to appease all the senses

A great local cafe for good quality coffee and friendly service. The meals are great and there is a range of baked goods and sweet plates for something sweet! Highly recommend.

You can’t miss the beautiful artwork as you arrive at Sardi and you’re greeted as soon as you open the front door. I wanted to order everything so the waitress really helped me to narrow down my choices. I had the Belgian Waffles, they were oozing with Nutella and berries and were just divine. Vegan smoothies were so pretty and so perfect! And how could l forget that plate of pancakes, what a fantastic idea! Wow! Loved it thank you 😊💗☕️

Sardi is a nice little café located in Hawthorn. We came here the other day to sample their new menu! We ordered the Cajun Chicken Tacos, Pulled Pork Burger, Korean Fried Chicken Burger and the Brownie Waffles (special). For drinks, we had the Oreo and Malteaser Milkshake.

Today’s food was absolutely delicious! The Pork burger was succulent, juicy and simply melted in your mouth. The picked slaw that accompanied it, sucked up all the juice and prevented the burger from falling apart. The chicken burger was extraordinary! It looked like a tower of fried chicken (see photo). The honey soy glaze was yummy and the kewpie mayo was tangy and sweet with a rich egg flavour.

The Cajun Chicken Tacos were yummy. The chicken was cooked well and the salsa went great with them! Finally, the Brownie Waffles....waffles, ice cream, berries, fairy floss and chocolate sauce! What more could you ask for? The dish was absolutely stunning and we enjoyed every mouthful of it.

We loved our time here today at Sardi and we cannot wait to return soon!

The food here was so great!! I tried the eggs benedict, the blueberry pancakes and the chilli scrambled eggs. All of the dishes were excellent. The bacon bits with the eggs benny was the perfect texture and the hollandaise was super smooth. The blueberry pancakes are vegan!! They were also incredible delicious, sweet but also balanced by the subtle sourness from the blueberry compote. The chilli scramble was packed full of flavour and also had a bit of a kick to it!🌶🌶

I really appreciated the amazing latte art and the delicious coffee as well!!
Overall, a great café! 🙌🏼

We had visited Sardi again for lunch and the experience kept getting better!

Our favorites were the three flavored pancakes, eggs benedict and pulled pork burger!

All flavors were there and it filled us up real good!

Sardi is a nice little spot located in Hawthorn.

What I ordered:
Grilled vegetable fritters
Eggs benedict
Brownie waffles
Mango passion fruit smoothie
Red velvet latte (cacao powder)

I really enjoyed their grilled vegetable fritters. The corn salsa and smashed avo was really refreshing when eaten together with the fritters, which also gave some extra texture.

The service was lovely as well!

As the weather shifts from cool to freezing cold, the new autumn menu at Hawthorn’s Sardi Cafe hits all the right notes with hearty dishes that exude an element of freshness. Not to mention incredibly colourful. What a feast for the eyes and camera! I opted for the falafel bowl which came with a generous number of falafel balls and blend of beans to amp up the sustenance of what would have otherwise been just another salad bowl.

With such a huge menu to choose from you cant be disappointed at Sardi! They off plenty of options for the health conscious as well as those who love to indulge! We can’t wait to head back in to try the rest of the dishes 😊

Disappointing; I ordered their special which was Tuna Patties. Expecting a grilled fresh patty, what I got was tasteless deep fried balls that had almost no flavour beyond oil and flour. There was no texture and from the taste, I’m guessing very little tuna. There was no hint of the hoisin sauce mentioned. First visit to Sardi and hard to imagine I’d be back. I rarely comment but for a high rating restaurant that was also written up by Broadsheet, it’s not in the same ball park as other Melbourne cafes.
Amanda Banks
I had the detox brunch salad. It was not nice at all. Really confused flavours drowning in a very odd tasting dressing. The kids waffles were not nice and soft but hard and gritty as though the mixture had not been mixed correctly. A bad experience
AH
For some reason, I felt a bit underwhelmed by Sardi. The brunch salad was quite flavourless, as there was hardly any dressing on the leaves. I felt it was very expensive for what it was. On the plus side, the sweet potato chips were great.
Michi
Tried the smashed avo and it was pretty good. Overall menu style is towards healthier customers but they still have burgers for those who wish to have something abit more indulging. Service can be pretty slow but food is yummy

Cheat day worth it 🤤 (Altho, I did walk for an hour back to city to burn off this dish which I can vouch was completely worth it)

FOOD: We ordered the famous Peanut Butter Pancakes and Nutella Banana Waffles. I am the biggest peanut butter and chocolate fan. At this point, peanut butter is a staple food in my diet 😂 This dish was absolutely heavenly and FILLING. I came here on an EatClub voucher so I paid $14 and it was the most worth it $14 I have ever spent. The chocolate pancakes were fluffy but slightly chewy giving the most perfect texture and it wasn’t dry AT ALL! The ice cream was a sneaky little treat but the star of the show was ALL THE PEANUT BUTTER! It felt like a Reece’s turned into a pancake minus the overly sweet aspect and overall was just a perfect dish! The Nutella Banana Waffles were great too with the perfect brulee on it and the waffles being crispy but yet soft and fluffy on the inside! The food definitely deserves a 5/5!! Amazing amazing AMAZING!! I highly recommend the peanut butter pancakes to all my peanut butter lovers, thank me later ;)

SERVICE: Service was adequate. It wasn’t great neither was it horrible. It was just meh I guess.

AMBIENCE: Incredibly quiet so it’s great for catchups!

Overall, I really loved the food and would definitely return on days where I am CRAVING pancakes and peanut butter! :)
Eatup
Coffee was good but everything else that we had afterwards on our first visit to Sardi was well below average. We had the black rice bowl: can you really serve raw kale and raw green beans? There was a smidge of an unidentified dressing that one had to scrape from the side of the bowl and that was it. The eggs Benedict with pulled pork were just weird served with a very strange looking and mild tasting “hollandaise”. P.S. the toilet needs a good thorough cleaning.
Eleanor
Nothing much to comment. The food was great, the service was good and it was a good start of my day :)
I ordered the pumpkin fritters and I was impressed. It was not oily at all (as you would expect from deep fried fritters) and they served the pumpkin both in the fritters and pickled as a topping 😍 it was very delicious! The accompaniments like the spinach and poached egg were not over cooked (or overly salted) 😋 the cashew cream itself gave the dish it’s creamy texture, making it not too drying to the throat (as deep fried good usually does to my throat). It was a very well balanced dish.
Kudos to the baristas as they took the effort to create such a cute latte art on my coffee despite a busy morning 😊 that really made my day!

Back the second time and they do not disappoint 😍
Loved the cute latte art they made for us ! Really made my morning. Service here is as friendly and warm as usual!
Food : had the pulled jackfruit burger and it was delicious! The barbecue flavor of the jackfruit really tasted like pulled pork and the chili jam gave a good heat flavor to the burger. The sweet potato chips were crispy and not oily at all! Highlight of the dish.
Had Oreo cheesecake for dessert and it was baked to perfection. Nice crusty cheese on the top with just the right amount of Oreo and chocolate in the cake.
Critic: burger bun needed to be toasted a little longer.

Overall I’ll give this cafe a 9/10 and definitely plan to visit here again 😋 great brunch place

Sardi cafe is a small yet inviting local corner cafe nestled on the borders of Richmond and Hawthorn. This friendly cafe serves coffee by Humble Harry Coffee Roasters and an all day brunch menu that offers a wide range of brunch classics and on trend brunch options that are very generous in portion size. So whether you’re looking to get your daily healthy fix or maybe dabble in something a little more indulgent, then Sardi’s menu has got you covered.

I only had a sandwich so maybe the rest of the menu is way better but for $12 I expect great fresh bread, and generous filling. Am I asking too much? I also hope it will be cut properly in a way I can eat it easily. This was so messy.

Probably one of the worst experiences I've had at a restaurant in Melbourne. Our food took 40 minutes to be served, and only 2 of the 3 arrived initially. Service was slow, inattentive and indifferent.

1)Chilli Folded Eggs: Bread was barely toasted, and the eggs were dry and overcooked.

2)Detox Brunch Bowl: Was initially missing 2 ingredients (broccoli and zucchini) and had about 2 grams of ricotta on it. Was essentially a bowl of kale with a sprinkling of black beans and pomegranate for $17.50. I alerted one of the waitstaff that 2 ingredients were missing, and he just said they'll make it again without giving an apology or even expected wait time. When it came back it had 4 slices of RAW and unripe broccoli (that had soggy dying parts on top), with half a raw zucchini mixed in. I asked if it was meant to be raw and they said yes because it's a "detox" bowl. I understood that but assumed it would be steamed, or at the very least FRESH. It was inedible.

3) Falafel bowl was quite nice although it arrived later than the rest (again without apology).

This one has been sitting in my draft for a while, thought it was time to post it.

Sardi is a cozy cafe with friendly staff but disappointing service. The service was extremely hands off with no interaction except at the very start. While I generally do prefer a hands off service, a sentence or two worth of interraction after the food was served would have been great.

Our order
⛾ White Coffee- loved the coffee and the coffee art. Can't say I have seen art like that in other Melbourne cafes.

🥤 Cacao Kicker- super delicious and very filling on its own. Would highly recommend this drink.

🍳 Bombay eggs- this one was a fairly decent dish till my mouth was filled with silk hair like that from clothes. I was honestly surprised at just how many of those were in the food.

🍞 Banana bread french toast- the above story repeated with the banana bread too. We didn't finish either of the two dishes.

🍴 Roasted pumpkin fritters- While I wasn't eating hair in the pumpkin fritters, this dish was dissatisfying for other reasons. It was extremely dry and over-priced. I wasn't a fan of this dish at all.

Overall, given the competition in the area, there are bettee options to choose from.
I haven’t been to Sardi for a long time but I was really hankering for their creamy mushroom medley dish. Unfortunately the menu has changed and that dish wasn’t available anymore, however fortunately, there was another mushroom dish and so all was good in the world. I found my dish to be packed full of flavour, however I didn’t enjoy the polenta soldiers as much. I highly recommend adding in salmon as I felt it complimented the dish really well. My partner’s eggs Benedict was all you could ask for in a Benedict dish, so no complaints on his end. We also ordered chai lattes that were very rich and spicy, just the way we like it. Will be back to try their other options.
Miriam Haug
Although the selection of vegan options here is good, I felt that most of them weren't as well executed as I was expecting. Their waffles were excellent but the porridge was rather bland, and I felt presentation was a bit lacking. I wasn't blown away by the avo toast either although it was nice. The chai smoothie was a bit disappointing but the coffee is good. The staff was friendly but not as attentive as I would've liked. The location is cute though, the building is quite old and has a bit of a rustic feel to it. (free meal)

2.5 We can’t say we weren’t disappointed by our experience. While Sardi has been on our to-do list for a while, the rather recent change in ownership has certainly changed things for the worse.
The cheap substitute ingredients, poor execution and lack of attention to detail all made this a rather poor experience.
Vanessa
**3.5. stars** This cafe has a simple, modern and clean interior to it. The ambience in turn is warm and cozy, and the service is prompt. We found the food to be above average and served in a decent portion.
Crumbs Of A Foodie
We were invited along to Sardi to experience their new spring menu. Browsing through their menu we decided on the Sautéed Wild Mushrooms and the Chilli Folded Eggs. Both dishes were full of flavour. Reluctantly sharing a bite from each other’s dish was difficult, as both were so good. If you love peanut butter and pancakes, the Peanut Butter Pancakes is a must try. A wonderfully presented dish, with the smell of peanut butter, layered through each pancake was lovely. Coffee beans are supplied by Humble Harry Roasting Co, and the barista does these beans justice.

The Sautéed Wild Mushrooms with added poached eggs and bacon had great flavours and was a pretty dish. Lovely flavours from each of the mushroom varieties. The eggs were cooked well.

The Chilli Folded Eggs was a colourful dish. There was a nice bit of heat from the chilli and it worked well with the other ingredients.

The Peanut Butter Pancakes were wonderfully presented. The smell of sweet peanuts layered through each pancake was sooo delicious.

Each of the dishes not only photographed well, but they also tasted even better!

We thank Sardi Cafe for having us. We experienced Sardi Cafe as guests, and all of our opinions are genuine and are based on our experience at the time of our visit.

Long story ( which i will explain) short. YUM, YUM, YUM!

I got to visit Sardi Cafe a couple of weeks ago, and was so delighted with the whole experience. We were greeted by the lovely staff on arrival who were prompt with asking what drinks we would like.

FOOD -

Peanut Butter Pancakes: The name really speaks for itself doesn't it? If you like/love/obsessed with PB then i strongly recommend you order these, either as a main dish, or one to share with the table ( they are not for the faint hearted). The flavours work so well together, first, you have a tipple stack of chocolate buttermilk pancakes THEN they go and top it off with peanut butter maple syrup, ice cream, berries and ofcourse recces peanut butter cups. Honestly, hands down best dessert breakfast ive had in a long time.

Southern Brunch Bowl: Loved this one! it was a Savoury option and included all the goodies. Cheesy Omelette, avocado and black beans, a delicious fluffy tortilla and then i added the Chorizo because.. well, Chorizo.

This wasn't exactly a light option..but it wasn't too heavy either. I am loving my food in bowls these days, and also loving all the new takes on the good old classics.

Nourish Bowl:
If you're looking out for the summer bod, then this meal is your friend! All the good stuff, brocoli, cucumber, tomato, radish, spinach, grilled mushroom.. then i added smoked salmon for a bit of something extra. The sauce that accompanied the dish was delicious and bought all the flavours together really well. i really enjoyed!

Overall, Sardi was a great experience and i can safely say i will be going back asap for more of those damn pancakes.
Timeless Food
Hit down the road to Sardi. Read reviews that they have good waffles. Pictures looks yum! Not craving for sweets at the moment so opted a heavy hearty burger with skinny mocha.

I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Burger; it was so crispy and hugeeeee. When I meant huge, it was so big I couldn’t take every ingredients with one bite. The brioche bun was too dry for me, so when I cut my burger into half, it was a huge mess (see pictures). Ingredients were nicely done; chicken was crispy outside and soft inside and the buffalo sauce gave a good touch to the burger. It came with sweet potatoes fries on side. I would give a prefect 5, unfortunately the bun just didn’t quite capture to my eating experience.

Overall meal was not too bad. I would like to give 3.5 stars. I was so full at the end that I couldn’t eat the buns but just protein. Spent about $24 for a solo meal. Will come back to try their waffles.

The food was okay, I ordered the black rice bowl, it was nothing special though. I found the portions to be really small, better if you aren’t very hungry. The waitress mixed up our order and gave us two orange juices instead of one. We also asked for no cheese with the chilli eggs, but it came with cheese. However, they ended up giving us free drinks because of all the mistakes, which was good. I also feel like the place could be decorated a lot nicer to attract more customers.

I’ve been meaning to try Sardi as it’s on the way to my gym, but luckily for me, I was invited to their menu. I took my personal trainer after she put me through the wringer doing squats. I digress. The menu is varied and extensive. We tried two dishes – the peanut butter pancakes, and the hangover cure with avo.

The peanut butter pancakes are the hype dish of Instagram at the moment, with many a food blogger wanting to try. I can see why. Fluffy buttermilk chocolate pancakes, with a peanut butter maple sauce, it’s rich but not excessive. It’s presented very well, and I’m a chocolate peanut butter connoisseur and this met the brief.

I really enjoyed the hangover cure. Not because I was hungover (although I did drink the night before), it was a hearty breakfast cooked to perfection. The star of the dish was the spiced baked beans. I was pleasantly surprised.

I suggest you get one sweet and one savoury and share them to get the full experience. We also tried the beet it smoothie and the sadri sling, the juice version of the Singapore sling. Out of the two drinks, the sardi sling was my favourite, but I am partial to ginger. The beet it smoothie was visually stunning and tasted pretty good also.

The café itself is rustic, light filled, clean and welcoming. You can tell by the diverse clientele that this is a café that serves its community. Staff were friendly to everyone, and the masters in the kitchen gave off a great vibe. There’s a friendly vibe to Sardi, the older lady next to us asked my friend if her heels were comfortable and entered into a conversation. There were people dropping in for their fix of takeaway coffee as well. That’s what you want from a local café, to feel like a second home.
We came into Sardi to try the new peanut butter pancakes and loved them! If you love peanut butter then this pancake was for you, it is layered with PB and then drizzled over with the most exciting peanut butter sauce I have ever tasted

We also shared the Bombay eggs which had a really delicious lentil dahl, we added chorizo in this dish which we enjoyed.

The chilli scrambled eggs were also very flavoursome, we did not find it chilli at all but the addition of mushroom was a nice touch, the eggs were silky smooth and creamy

Thanks for having us !

Cute little cafe with quite a quirky menu. Everything we got was good - the peanut butter pancakes were totally decadent but delicious. Portions are huge! Could easily share a main between two. Coffee and smoothies are on point too.

Sardi Cafe is your classic, neighbourhood Melbourne cafe in Hawthorn – brightly lit, cosy and small, yet serving up some colourful, aesthetic and delicious meals that make for a perfect brunch catch up with friends or family. The highlight would have been the peanut butter pancakes – which are an absolute MUST for peanut butter lovers (like me!) and are the latest addition to their Melbourne spring brunch menu.
@twogoodtoresist
Unique dishes made with passion and love! We loved our visit to Sardi. The peanut butter pancakes are next level- in flavour and fluffiness! The smoothies are great too! We really enjoyed the omelette bowl with a side of Saganaki and the benny is delicious too!

5/10 ... where's that 1/2 rating Zomato ....

It's a sin to served burnt Bacon ... especially on Sunday.

In this cafe capital of the world you would expect a better serving of brunch menu, especially on weekends when crowd flocked to cafes everywhere ... this is where you make or break the business, leave your signature on us patrons, impress us ... but sadly it wasn't the case.
On the coffee front ... not a bad start 7/10 $6.00 for the Aeropress coffee, Clark St coffee beans, then not so impressive 4/10 $4.50 Matcha latte, that was watery, no creaminess ...

Then there's the food ... Presentation was the issue to start with, they don't look attractive to eat, boring and over stuffed ... mountain of Rockets, shaved Parma?cheese hiding the folded omelette ... worse still, it didn't taste good ... 2/10 at the rate of $17:50 for a folded hot scrambled eggs with Chorizzo and Bacon.

Next was ... unattractive looking 6/10 $20.00 Eggs Morteza ... reminded me of Vindaloo, vinegar/Bolognese fusion and it comes with Roti ... this was actually tasted good on another setup, not brunch, too big and too heavy.

Their saving grace was the $5.50 Almond Croissant - 8/10, I'm just so glad that I takeawayed one, it takes away some of the disappointments at home with my own brewed filter Papuan coffee. Their pastries looks really good in comparison to their Brunch menu.

I actually like the set up of this long catchy named cafe, the indoor dining area was divided into two sections; the back area is perfect if you want more space and serenity and art work, good gallery, while the front is "tighter" but that's where the action is man! What's appalling is the cleanliness of the place, you need to regimen-tally cleaned your place of work, swept and mopped the floor everyday, especially the "single" spacious toilet, that was dirty, smelly and disgusting. A view of piled rubbish at the backyard doesn't help too.

The dining experience was so disappointing, they don't even bother to collect our plates and check, "How's the food?" Thank God for online review platforms like @Zomato ...

Lots of improvement needed from this cafe, let's start with cleanliness and stop serving burnt bacon please. JT-12/08/2018

Located on Church St in Hawthorn, and away from the usual area we normally frequent for brunch, Sardi is situated on a corner with colourful graffiti painted on the side of the building like a beacon shouting out to us to come inside. Inside, the cafe is cosy with white and timber wooden themes throughout. We were seated straight away and I ordered my usual latte to start off with.

This is a cosy little cafe that I have always wanted to try. The staff were very friendly and the service was very efficient. I ordered a cappuccino and the smashed Avo. The coffee was very smooth and absolutely fantastic! The smashed Avo was only 10 dollars which was a very pleasant bonus. The smashed Avo came with grilled halloumi which was a very good addition. My only criticism would be that the Avo could have done with a bit more seasoning, but for 10 dollars that’s what a salt shaker is for 😜.

It's so nice to have the choice to either indulge in traditional Aussie dishes for breakfast and lunch like smashed avo and brioche french toast and also be able to indulge in specials with a distinctive indian influence like smokey lamb stew.

Welcome to Sardi, a cafe in Hawthorn with an appealing
atmosphere matched with warm hospitality.

We had the smashed avocado with heirloom tomatoes,
radish, beetroot hummus and saganaki washed down with a Sardi Sling, composed of apple, carrot, orange, beetroot and ginger. -Delicious.
Feeling like something different on a cold, wintery
day, we also ordered the Smokey Lamb Stew with spicy slow cooked lamb, lentils, fried Spanish onions, with sourdough and the Winter Rice Bowl including rainbow cauliflower, roast pumpkin, grilled capsicum and zucchini, mung sprouts, avocado, dukkah and black rice and lemon vinaigrette. What a delicious feast!

Sardi is a family business and it shows. The owner,
Angadh comes from a family immersed in hospitality and has been in the food industry for years.

Open early until 4pm, Sardi offers a mouthwatering array of sandwiches if you are in a hurry.

Great graffiti at this cafe, making your Instagram killer.

Sardi is a real find and a must visit in the area.

Despite the aesthetically tantalising plates pictured, I found that the food was unfortunately mediocre on this occasion. Faults being: it was barely warm when it hit the table, the French toast was soggy and lacked the usually delightful exterior toasted crunch, the pear was still fairly firm (but did have a very lovely cinnamon tone) the waffles were confusingly hard (but not crunchy) and didn’t have the pleasant soft fluffy middle that a good waffle gives. I did enjoy my coffee and was told that the smoothie was really enjoyable. No complaints regarding service but overall nothing here I would be in a hurry to return for.

Sardi is a rustic cafe located in in suburbian Hawthorn. Quiet and cosy, the intimate seating makes for a great place for a coffee catch up on the weekends with its relaxed ambience. I opted for a sweeter option - the chocolate waffles with three scoops of icecream, chocolate soil and strawberries. Definitely a winner if you’re a sweet tooth foodie. The icecreams were smooth and creamy, while the soil mellowed the sweetness down. The waffles weren’t too sweet, although it would have been better if the batter was a little lighter and crisper.

Sardi is a lovely, cosy cafe located in Hawthorn. We were delighted to have such an amazing brunch at the cafe. We had the chilli folded eggs, brekky board and the brioche french toast with candied bacon. The food was top notch, very delicious and really made our morning. The latte art was just mind blowing, see our photos and you will know why. The staff members were lovely and friendly. Would definitely come back here!

I was invited to a blogger event at Sardi, an upbeat little cafe on Church Street hill in Hawthorn. The menu read very well and there was quite a range of things to tempt me. I couldn’t decide for an age between the red velvet pancakes with their berries and vegan ice cream or one of the two delightful chocolate waffle dishes (one being on the specials board). I ended up picking the red valley pancakes which was a super choice. These pancakes were quite thick and had plenty of substance and the were a very generous serve. I liked the use of fresh and dehydrated strawberries.

Fortunately being part of a blogger event there were plenty of other plates to sample so waffles were also tried and were good. They came with three ice cream scoops and again generous in platting.

Another standout dish to consider is the lamb tacos which I wasn’t able to try given the enthusiasm of others to have a taste but as far and look goes and feedback from others I think these tacos should be considered.

I tried the Sardi Sling juice which was a great combination of apple, carrot, orange, beetroot and
ginger.

A very interesting, varied and generous menu.

Thanks so much for having me.

I ordered the acai bowl and it was actually packed with acai, a good amount not just a spoonful on the side and the fruit was fresh too. The coffee was great also. Reasonably priced and such a cute and cozy area to go to. Highly recommend.

Located in a prime Hawthorn location on a busy road, after driving past Sardi for months i finally popped in for a bite to eat.
The space itself is very small but charming and the staff were very friendly.
For food, I opted for the Bombay eggs and spiced lentils special. It was delicious! Hearty, warming and I loved the side of roti bread (but it could have done with a bit more spice). We also had the tacos special which was very good. Full of flavour, a generous serving and I loved the sauce!
Overall, a very enjoyable meal at a lovely little Melbourne cafe.

What a way to start our weekend! Coffee was extremely good and visually appealing with coffee art! Customer service was on point, everyone had a smile on their face and the menu options had anything and everything you could be craving! Won’t stop thinking about those Chocolate Belgian Waffles for days! Forking awesome! @theforksyndicate

Sardi is a quaint little cafe located in Hawthorn, with a friendly staff and delicious cafe, brunch-style menu. As we sat down, I found myself salivating over the baked goods case, but reminded myself not to indulge too heavily within the 1st five minutes. On the "specials" board, I saw a red velvet latte, which has become quite trendy in cafes across Melbourne. Naturally, I had to give it a go, as any 'fun' latte is my cup of joe.

Let me tell you... that red velvet latte was to die for. It was so rich and indulgent. I genuinely felt like I took a bite of red velvet cake. Some places could benefit from trying Sardi's take on this drink because they have NAILED it. Following our sweet start, we moved on to the meals, ordering the roasted pumpkin fritters & banana bread french toast.

Let's start with the fritters, which were served with avocado cashew cream, picked pumpkin, spinach, poached egg, & pepitas. I also added chorizo, because why not? The fritters themselves could have used a bit more flavor. I found myself really searching for the pumpkin and some spice. The dough itself was still tasty, and worked well with the avocado cream. Delish.

The banana bread french toast was BOMB. I could have eaten that plate of heaven all day long. The banana bread makes for a heavy dish, BUT that's exactly what I was expecting. Topped with mascarpone, roasted pear, granola, and decadent caramel sauce, I seriously wanted to lick my plate.

Overall, I would highly recommend stopping in - ORDER THE FRENCH TOAST!

We visited Sardi Cafe a couple of months ago and enjoyed some lovely dishes :) We highly recommend trying the smashed avo and if you're looking to mix it up a little bit, add Saganaki to the dish! The fit-out inside is really nice and the staff when we visited were very friendly and polite.
The Brunch Specialist
Sardi is a lovely cafe located along Church Street Hawthorn.

On this visit I ordered the smashed avocado with halloumi and poached eggs and my sister ordered the breakfast board along with a coffee and a matcha latte to drink.

Both dishes came out beautifully presented and we appreciated the latte art on our drinks, I love a pretty latte. Overall both dishes were enjoyable although the breakfast board was the standout of the two.

The breakfast board is a great option for when you can’t decide or want a little bit of everything. The board includes smashed avocado on toast with a poached egg, mini granola, banana bread and a small OJ. It had a good balance between sweet and savoury and the banana bread was a nice touch.

Overall the service was good and the staff were friendly and welcoming. I rate Sardi 3.5 ⭐️ out of 5 and I recommend that you check them out if you’re in the area.
Lizzie
Amazing food, very well presented and good flavours. We had the fritters and added bacon was amazing, not greasy like a lot of fritters. Friend had Oreo waffles and loved them, although needs a little more Oreo infusion through the dish to be classed as ‘Oreo’. Coffee was great too. We will be back for sure.

i was so excited to finally be able to try this cafe after hearing how amazing the food was! well unfortunately we didn't make it that far! as soon as we walked in we were told that they only had 1 high chair that was in use and to decide where we wanted to sit and they would be back with us shortly. After 10 minutes of sitting and having customers come in and be served after us whilst we were still waiting for our area to b cleaned and menus given to us. Sad to say we left hungry and disappointed :(
Food1995
Every time I come here I seem to always get the fried chicken burger but that’s because it’s so damn good. Perfectly fried chicken. Used to be served with sweet potato wedges which I do prefer to the current chips.
Have previously had the mushroom ragout, was also very good although the two poached eggs seemed out of place almost in the dish.
Steph Giles
Nice little cafe, good food and nice atmosphere. Lots of mums with prams coming in while we were there and the staff were very helpful with facilitating their movement through the small spaces. I’m always happy to find a brunch place with more than one appealing non-egg option and this one definitely hit the mark. Tacos were delicious with crunchy fried chicken and a tasty zesty sauce. Plus they had my favourite type of kombucha which was an added bonus!
Hello. Imnikki
What would have been an ordinary experience turned into quite an extraordinary one due to the hospitality and kindness shown by the staffs. The barista/waitress showed genuine concern whether one of the girls that we were babysitting had enough to eat, and the barista/waiter was very apologetic and kept us updated on the progress of one of our meal that met with a minor “accident” on its way to us.

Food was simple but delicious and filling. So was the drinks - latte was strong and smooth, and they weren’t fussed in agreeing to add a shot of espresso to my chai smooth to make it a dirty chai smoothie.

A good or bad thing, depending on how you looked at it, was that the kids’ meal arrived way before ours so that kept them occupied, but we had a bit of a hangry moment waiting for ours.
Cindy
Is Sardi under new management because 6 months ago there was a 40min wait for a table but now its a ghost town...and I can understand why. We ordered the chicken and waffles and the black rice bowl. The waffles were dry, and the chicken...wow it was 4 small nugget sized pieces of chicken served cold, dry and hard. It was embarrassing. Next, my black rice bowl wasnt much better. It was exactly like the menu stated - a bunch of veg dumped on a bowl with a small dollop of avocado cashew cream. It wasn't appetizing at all. The kale was dry and clearly hadnt been massaged in any oil. I would expect to eat something of this quality at home (and even then I would give it more flavour/dressing). It was so disappointing to say the least, to be served below cafe quality food.
Split The Bill
Cute cafe on a busy road in Hawthorn. We had the tomato and zucchini tartine. It was so fresh and tasty with heirloom tomatoes, shaved zucchini, pickled red onion, herb salsa, salted ricotta sprinkled on top of toasted sourdough $16.50.

The Sardi granola was a generous size and had oats, buckinis, sunflower seeds, flaxseeds, coconut flakes, hazelnuts & almonds toasted in coconut oil, rice malt syrup with coyo & rubarb compote $14.50.

The two smoothies were our favourite part of our meal. Cacao Kicker had almond milk, banana, cacao, protein powder, peanut butter, rice malt syrup, goji berries plus I ordered an espresso Shot. The tropic boost was so flavorsome with mango, coconut milk, coyo, LSA, rice malt syrup, passionfruit, coconut.

Quite literally the best coffee I've had in breakfast! Even have lactose free milk, surprisingly hard to find! Great service and food also. Highly recommend!
Emma
The breakfast is great and there are a lot of options. The seating area outside is really nice on a sunny day. The only thing is that the seating inside is a little awkward and I can imagine it can be uncomfortable if it is busy. Otherwise good
Katie Winkler
Service was slow and it wasn’t busy. It was very hot inside even with the air conditioning on. The table water was warm.
Having said that the coffee was good. I had the Oreo Waffles, very pretty presentation and tasty. Also had the chicken burger and sweet potato fries.
Unsure if I’d be willing to go back
Steph
Really cute little cafe. Looks small as you walk in but there is some seating at the back too.

We ordered a soy hot chocolate and latte first up which were nice. We waited a while before someone came to take our food order. We ordered oreo waffles and the Acai bowl.

When both came out they looked so visually appealing! Extremely well presented although we waited approximately 30 minutes plus for it to come out. A lot of other customers were also looking around for their food. Waitresses did apologise for the wait once it came out.

The Acai was delicious but needed a bit more fruit as the other elements in the bowl were quit small. The waffles were fantastic, light and generous in size.

I would come back based on the food we tasted but the service does need to improve a bit, some more staff and shorter wait times would help 😊
ZM
I had a really great breakfast here. My friend and I were doing some study and spent a good couple of hours here. Even though it was a Sunday, and presumably a busy time for the cafe, we were not encouraged to leave in order to free up a table at all which was refreshing. The actual food was very nice, and extremely flavoursome. I haven’t had anything like the Japanese avocado dish before, and had no complaints about the coffee either. Would definitely return!
Hangry Dreamer
Located in an odd part of Hawthorn with not much competition around, I wasn't too sure what to expect apart from the famous Oreo Waffles. Awkwardly quiet once inside and with not much going on, I was unsure why this was such a well known cafe. Let's see if the food can fill in the questionable gaps.
The Food Baby Maker
Very small cafe on the way to bridge road. Food is of a good standard and presentation was on point 👌🏻 however coffee was a tad small. Wouldn't go out of my way to revisit.
DamoForce Food
Went there with @waynes_burgers (Instagram) Food was surprisingly good. The waffles not too sweet. The acai bowl one of the best around and the coffee was above average.
Jean
Both dishes were fab!!! So tasty and fresh. Portion size however, was WAYY TOO SMALL for the detox salad. Plus it was 17.50, was hungry even after I finished my food.

The People's Critic
Got a take away in a keep cup, came back with >60% froth! so I asked if they could top it up and they did slightly, but still 30% froth. Clearly don't know how to make a coffee...but still charged $5 for it.
Taran Singh
Great vibe to this hidden little gem. Coffee was good and the menu was appealing. The staff were friendly which is always a plus. Will definitely return to try some food options.
Eating With Ebony
From previous reviews I decided to get the Chicken burger because everyone said it was good. Unfortunately for me this wasn't the case. The burger was basically chicken, barely any sauce or coleslaw. To top it off the chicken was quite dry too so every time I had a bite I would need a drink of water to wash it down. But the sweet potatoes were good! My friend however got the breakky board and she really enjoyed it.
Samora Curry
Extensive options on the menu, and quality fresh ingredients, and friendly staff, led to a satisfying brunch experience.
Will be back for more!

Hesitantly returned back here after a not-so-good experience a year ago, I was pleasantly surprised at the turn around under the new management. Friendly staff, great food, great coffee and most importantly a very friendly environment. It was great to have the owner take the time and have a chat to us which gave a nice personal touch. Would highly recommend and will be back!
Love At First Bite
Find us on instagram: loveatfirstbite_aus

Sardi is a Hawthorn cafe located a stone’s throw away from the hustle and bustle of Victoria Street. It is located right on a corner which provides the cafe with an ample amount of sunlight which gives the cafe a warm and welcoming feel. I’ve been here a few times and in this blog will take your through the last time we brunched here with a few friends.

Visited this cafe for Saturday morning breakfast earlier today. There's been a change in management ... so I was hoping for something new and improved. I had the chilli scrambled eggs which hit the spot ... perfect for winter hunger pangs. A friend of mine ordered the same but without bacon. (I saw heaps of people ordering the same... so clearly it was good!). The new owner also made my lactose free cap with colourful milk and funky patterns. I felt special... but turns out it's just what this cafe does. Parking is easy to find. This place should be on your Melbourne brunch places to visit list.
Priya.johar89
as soon as you walk in you're greeted by friendly staff, it's a warm inviting environment. The coffee was delicious and the food was amazing! I ordered the breakfast board because I always want sweet and savoury and everything was fresh and made to perfection. We also got the chilli scrambled eggs which were perfectly cooked and fresh and finished off with the waffles which were mouth watering! This place has definitely delivered not only by presenting delicious looking food but delivering on taste too!
Melbcafegirl
Was quite disappointed as the service was quite poor. We were greeted with a hello as we walked in. We sat for around 10 minutes while there was no one else in the shop. A coffee order wasn't even taken in the period of time whilst other take away orders were taken. I understand the morning rush gets busy with a small amount of staff but some more engagement with your dine in customers helps.

Turns out I'm 1km from Sardi Cafe! It's at the end of my street and around the corner, though uphill so we trammed it. While I have never heard of this place according to the chats it's a very popular lunch spot in a residential area (there is nothing but houses around, like the ascot food store). Highly sort after made popular by bloggers as they were all invited to dine there. That is how you attract attention, though it doesn't impress me.

We have been here twice in two weeks we loved it so much the first time. All up we've had the ciabatta, pea and haloumi fritters, mushroom ragout and blueberry coconut pancakes. We still need to go back so we can try more things off the amazing menu but so far so good. A stand out for me are the mushrooms. So creamy, cheesy, and peeeerfect on a cold day. And we haven't had to wait either!
Liv
A bit cramped inside so not ideal for a big group on a weekend morning. Average meals and okay service. I think there's better places in Melbourne for brunch
Lucyy Chu
My friend and I went to Sardi and ordered the infamous acai bowl, southern fried chicken burger and an extra bowl of their sweet potato chips. To be honest, the acai bowl didn't taste as good as it looked, however nonetheless, refreshing. The highlight of the meal was the southern fried chicken burger with the sweet potato chips, we couldn't get enough of it!
Taniacandido
The Oreo waffles and the matcha milkshake were both really good. The waffle was very filling and big - it was one of those flower like shaped waffles but separated. They were nice and fluffy but could have used more flavor. The ones with the chocolate sauce were better. The matcha milkshake was great, I really liked it. Presentation was incredible and the staff was very friendly. It had a nice chill atmosphere too.
A Chronicle Of Gastronomy
It’s now summer, and time for new dishes to hit the menu at Sardi. There are a few additions, but three in particular catch our eye, and there’s something new for everyone. The more traditional cafe-goer gets a new Eggs Benny. Ham hock, broccolini and eggs are piled on top of toasted sliced of brioche and slathered in an apple cider and asparagus hollandaise. It’s a tasty and different take on the benedict.

I have been wanting to try Sardi for quite a while now and when we arrived were welcomed with friendly smiles and seated straight away. Not long after sitting down we placed our coffee orders, which came out promptly and tasted delicious. Sardi does a great almond milk latte. During this time we ordered our breakfast which consisted of two Acai bowls. As time went on and our coffees slowly started to go down we noticed we have already been waiting 30 minutes for our breakfast, we were quite surprised considering the cafe was not even that busy. Another 5 minutes passed and the waitress came over to apologise and reassure us our order was not to far off and stated they had a large order out the back. Eventually after 55 minutes we received our order and despite the wait the Acai bowl was one of the best I had tried.

To make up for the wait the staff gave us complementary muffins however waiting approximately an hour for two Acai bowls is unacceptable. I feel if this cafe is going to take on the added pressure of doing takeaway orders, then they need to put in place a new system or place more emphasis on ensuring the seated cafe customers are getting their meals in adequate time.

Overall I will be back as they do provide lovely meals and the service was great, I just hope I am not left waiting next time.
BIRCHER QUEEN 👑
Went here especially for the porridge. Whilst it didn't taste bad, it definitely is a dish that looks better than it tastes. It was a good serving size and the apple component of the dish was yum! The caramel date paste was a little weird but not unpleasant. Extra crumble on top would have given the dish a better consistency whilst eating it. I'd happily return to try something else on their menu.

Came here on a busy Sunday, was seated very quickly although it was clearly busy. There was a little bit of wait for the food but other than that, food and service was exceptional!
FOOD TRIP
Sardi is a beautiful light filled café located in Hawthorn. They serve up the usual brunch dishes but add on their own twist in flavours. Coffees are deliciously creamy without any hint of bitterness. Would recommend trying out!. Matcha Green Tea Latte $4.50. Good strong matcha flavour and presented beautifully. Not sweet at all, just the way I like it. 7.5/10

Came here for brunch on a Saturday for 4 and was seated straight away. Nice big table out the back but it was off balance every time we leant on it. I ordered the superfood breakfast bowl and added the chicken but was missing the asparagus. Dressing and dukkah was nice but I left feeling not full. Also ordered the Oreo milkshake which was okay. Friendly service and decent food.

Mixed feelings - some great points and also room for improvement....
I really enjoyed my meal here for lunch today; the superfood bowl with its abundance of kale, dressed with lemon and almond dukkah, topped with poached eggs and a side of their gluten free paleo bread was delicious and nutritious! I also enjoyed a lovely Golden Latte with almond milk.
The downside - a long, 45 minute wait for our food... A lot of orders were going out with 'uber eats', unfortunately sacrificing the enjoyment of a cafe experience with timely food for patrons...

Writing a review while waiting for food, been waiting for 45 minutes and still not here. Treat customers in store with respect by prioritising their meals. Spending too much time sending out uber meals. Plenty of good food in Melbourne, recommend to go somewhere where service is better. Management need to up their standards.

Nice coffee and friendly staff. Unfortunately the food leaves significant room for improvement, with hardly any vegan options. Will not be going back.

Really cute little cafe, with super friendly staff.
Two brunch dates here with each of my daughters, allowed us to try the drinks & dishes on our hit list. The drinks we chose did not disappoint - Oreo milkshake, manco smoothie, matcha milkshake & malteaser milkshake.
The slow cooked lamb shoulder tacos were delish. The lychee 'n' coconut hotcakes were really nice too, but 1 scoop of ice cream is not proportionate for 3 hotcakes, it needs to be 3 hotcakes to at least 2 scoops or reduce it to 2 hotcakes (which was more than satisfying) with their standard 1 scoop.
The wild mushroom ragout was creamy, tasty & downright divine.
Although the pea & haloumi fritters were nice, we discovered we prefer corn fritters.
Shell
Service was ok but food took nearly an hour to arrive for a table of 5 and reason quoted was that they had a large takeaway order that morning. Ran out of smoked salmon around midday. When the food finally arrived, the superfood bowl had a bowl full of kale, half an avocado and 2 eggs. There were only 5 thin slices of what looked like canned asparagus and nothing else. Will not be back again.

I'd always wanted to try this cafe as it's got the same name as my previous work! 😄 ... Went to Jinda, no cash , ATM didn't work >> 😭
Food 1.5 - I must have been really hungry 🙊 the fritters were delicious & crispy on the outside ... I don't know I just felt "ah that's a good meal, I'm satisfied" afterwards... Poached eggs were a little overdone (forgot to take a photo of cooked egg yolk!)... A touch of lemon wedge would be good!🍋
Decors 1 - I love the settings & fresh flowers💐
Service 1.5 - exceptionally good! Too friendly 😬

Really disappointing - used to frequent this little cafe however today was well below average. Over an hour wait for our breakfast was just not acceptable.

Clearly the introduction or Uber Eat, Foodora and any every other takeaway meal app they have signed up to causes havoc with the kitchen.

Once we finally received our meals the big breakfast was average bland no flavour, the fritters were again bland and no taste. Kitchen clearly missed seasoning any of the food.

Only positive was our waitress she was really nice and apologised for the wait.

Don't think I will be going here again. Always a long wait but today was too long and for food that was not worth the wait.

After hearing nothing but compliments about this cafe, I was excited to finally get around to trying it out. Now I wish I hadn't. Something just didn't go right for them. After being seated out the back, we were served drinks quickly and they set the tone for what we thought would be a great meal. The hot chocolate in a bottle was weird and unnecessary but tasted great.

I ordered the pea and haloumi fritters, with poached eggs and bacon and tomato.
It sounded great on paper. The eggs were completely cooked through, and couldn't be considered poached, it was the same for my friends poached eggs aswell.
We would have said something but as soon as our meals were served we didn't see a waitress again. Being sat out the back I suppose out of sight out of mind.

My sister chose the tacos, which she expected to be juicy and delicious. The meat was dry which should be almost impossible from slow cooked meat.

The meals were lacking in excitement and flavor.
From a well known cafe I would definitely not return, or recommend. I understand that cafes can have off days, but if you can't even cook a poached egg there is something to worry about.

Plus side was a well priced menu, with lots of variation, just wish the final product was something enjoyable.

Situated within a residential area, parking is also easy enough to find.

I wouldn’t say my experience was entirely bad, plus the staff were nice enough. However, based on my pea & haloumi fritter dish, plus let’s not forget to mention all these food bloggers posting pictures from this place, I thought it would be more spectacular than that.

Brimming with charm, Sardi is a welcoming café that exudes an air of tranquillity and is anything but a conventional neighbourhood joint. The dining area is furnished tastefully with artworks from local artists (all for sale) along with wooden furnishings and scattered greenery fostering a feeling of warmth and cosiness. This is further reinforced by the friendly and courteous service.

Healthy & Yum brunchin place highly rate it!
• Smashed Avo w Saganaki, Poached Eggs, Avo & Lemon
• Sweet potatoe chips with avo salsa
• Egg & Chorizo Omlete w Sourdough bread
& 2 lattès

Great little cafe with easy side street parking. The menu/type of food is similar to it's sister cafes (Trei & Muharam).

Sardi is known for pumping out freshly baked muffins with rotating flavours on a daily basis. The muffin I got to try today happened to be a Cookie Crumble muffin. It had a wonderfully crisp exterior, a soft cake-like crumb inside, and was studded with mini chocolate chips which were gooey and melty from being warmed prior to serving. It was a simple muffin; a tad boring if I were to compare it to muffins I've had at other cafes recently (e.g. Fourth Chapter), but tasty nonetheless.

My 5 Grain Almond Mylk Porridge with salted apples, pecan & date labneh ($13.50) was an impressive dish. The toppings had striking flavours, which was extremely complementary to the porridge itself, which was only very subtly sweet. I especially loved the salted apples - I've never tasted anything quite like it before!

Other dishes on the table were the Wild Mushroom Ragout with garlic, kale & shaved parmesan on sourdough + poached eggs ($18.50) and a Turkey Sandwich with avocado, mayo, cranberry relish, brie cheese & snow pea sprouts ($10). I didn't taste them but my friends polished off their meals so I assume they were good.

Overall a great brunch experience. Good quality, beautifully presented and very comforting, delicious food. The atmosphere and service were decent, and menu items were reasonably priced. They also take bookings, which is rare for Melbourne cafes these days. Will likely be returning!

Yummy! Loved the orange juice, super fresh. Ordered the coconut and lychee pancakes - cooked perfectly. Had a hint of maple syrup in it already and slight crunch. The texture was fluffy and cooked perfectly (not too dry and not too doughy) there were almond flakes around the plate, love the crunch to it. The extra bacon was $5 dollars; they were nice but could have given more or charged less.

My friend throughly enjoyed the banana waffles. We got seated straight away and wasnt as busy as I thought it would be. Still had to wait almost 30 mins for the food to come out (was getting bit hungry) but have to admit it was worth the wait.

Was $49 for two ppl including drinks and meal. Showed my partner the photos, definitely will be back 😍

Love Sardi! Delicious, healthy food! Tiny restaurant with squishy seating area, but the food is worth the wait! The coconut and lychee hotcakes were absolutely delicious! Chai latte also tasty as! Definitely recommend.
Sophie
Nice food, however travelled from afar to try this place and the service was appalling. We waited 20 mins for our coffees and then another 45 minutes for our food. The management was awful, everyone looked god awful depressed and our waitress was probably the rudest person wee encountered here in Melbourne. When we asked her a question she silenced us by raising her finger and it was so evident she did not want to be there. We understand having a busy weekend, especially in hospo but the negative energy and quick rushed responses made us feel uncomfortable and as if we were burdens. Everyone is lacking customer service and social skills, particularly to be running a cafe in central ish Melbourne. What a let down.
Natasha Merheb
Definitely the worst experience.
A 45 minute wait for what was the most distinctively average food I've ever had. The pea & halloumi fritters tasted like mush. The fried chicken burger & wedges were cold and we probably could've had a better quality burger at KFC. Worst of all, their excuse was 'we are so busy' - looking around the room, there were 4 tables occupied. An absolute joke of an establishment - never again.
The Other Jess Tuck
They are serving up everything from Acai to extra bacon on your pancakes and they are doing a damn good job of it. Sardi still stands out as a prime brekky spot on Melbs' scene. More on the blog.
Linnie Eats All The Food
I had my Linnie day which meant a catch up with Miss Asian Fusion with no sight of Mr D for the whole day. We did a little road trip (anything more then 30 minutes equates to a road trip in our books) and headed on down to a little cafe, further down from all the shops stood Sardi Cafe. Sardi Cafe has been opened for 2 years now and it’s quite a local gem.

Another favourite of mine! After reading so many great reviews, I decided to try this place with a girlfriend and the good reviews listed below weren't lying. It's such a cute, warm and very little/cozy cafe - you are considerably close to those next to you however, this really suits the cafe. The thing I loved most was the menu. It was full of exciting and most importantly new dishes that persuades you to avoid the typical 'smashed avocado'. I have tried their cocoa kicker smoothie, chicken sandwich and their superfood breakfast bowl - these were all great menu items. There was really no disappointment here at all - staff, interior and food overly was a great experience. TIP: get in early, always busy!
LQ
Came in and all the tables were full so we waited for about five minutes until the staff directed us to our super cosy table. I really wanted to try the lychee and coconut hotcakes but was told theybwere out, so I opted for the SARDI Big Breakky and boy can I tell you it was AMAZING!!! The mushrooms were cooked to perfection, and everything wad super fresh and one of the best hot chocolates I've ever had!! If going try coming in early and if your party is more that 4 may be dofficult to get a table!

I always see this place being packed out & it's been on my list of places to check out.

Today we had the pea & haloumi fritters with avocado salsa, smoked salmon & poached eggs, the smashed avo, and the lychee & coconut hotcakes. All the dishes looked amazing. My fritters tasted great however the avocado salsa was just smashed avocado. The hotcakes were fluffy and light. You could taste the coconut however one side of them didn't get any syrup, so were a bit dry and bland. The smashed avocado was probably the winner of all three dishes.

The staff were all friendly & smiley and the coffee was brilliant. The one thing that didn't sit well was how the toilet & the tables in the back room felt like they were all part of the same space. I like the toilet to be out of sight, out of mind; mainly because my mind will get lost amongst the thought of all the airborne particles.

Other than that, it's a pleasant place to visit & has interesting, healthy options which cater to the on-trend crowd it draws in.
Eatwithhendri
Read a few good reviews raving about its lychee coconut hotcakes, smashed avo and coffee. I decided to try something different. Ordered brekky board which came with mini croissant, strawberry jam, small jar of grains and milk, peas fritter and a poached egg. It also came with a free cup of coffee at your choice, a dish that is value for money although the cashier lady almost charged the coffee separately if we didnt remind her. Another dish we ordered is the wild mushrooms ragout, to me it's an amazing dish if you have it for lunch but not for breakfast. Very cheesy and creamy. Service was friendly despite the cafe was full.
Loulou
Food was well presented and on the most part enjoyable. My dish the smoothie bowl was delicious filled with lots of flavour and fresh fruit, all which I throughly enjoyed! However there was restrictions in meal choices for my friend who has a nut allergy, understandable but disappointing. My other friend ordered the trio of salads and was told after ordering that they had no pumpkin for the pumpkin salad, so they would use cauliflower to substitute. This was also a let down however they correctly informed us and would have allowed her to change if this was a major concern.
Nice decor and staff were super friendly. Will come back when the menu expands its options.
Thehappymedium
Oh my gosh this place is to die for!!!! I ordered the acai bowl which was an absolute gem!! Perfect ratio of toppings to acai and super refreshing on a sunny day.

The place was really small and we had to wait a good 20 minutes outside to get a table but this was not a problem, and was expected for a Saturday morning.

I enjoyed this a lot and will definitely come back on my next visit to Melbourne!!
Heidi
After a good 45 minute wait we finally got a table at sardi. It's nice but perhaps not so nice to wait again. Also there is not much around it so your kinda stuck for choice. I had the smashed avo with halomui cheese, it was quite good, similar to other cafes though.
The Tastebud
Yeah yeah...a cute little cafe with good looking muffins in the glass box by the door. Coffee was great; service was pretty helpful. Lunch of soft tacos was pretty good. I thought that the portions could have been a little more generous.
Probably would grab a coffee from Sardi as I was passing but unsure if I would stop for lunch.
Coffee And Food
Having my take away coffee on my way to Point Cook. Great little cafe clean and tidy. Coffee was good and beans by Niccolo based in Melbourne. Pastry look yummy and will go back for brunch soon.

I've been to Sardi a couple of times since the completed renovation in January. The food is generally good, but does vary in its consistency. The best meal I had was lunch in January and the southern fried chicken burger is very tasty (but a huge serving so watch out!) It would be good to have a few more lighter lunch options for the working day, and I know my vegetarian friend would appreciate some more options too. Coffee is very good and the renovation is perfect because space was definitely needed prior.
Laurenkateee
Great healthy food with options galore on the menu- couldn't decided if I wanted all day breakfast or lunch. Super foamy almond milk chai latte! Amazing sweet potato chips served with guacamole!
Jessica
I went here this morning with a friend for breakfast. I've been previously and never had an issue with the place. I felt like a warm dish and decided on the Wild Mushroom Ragout with poached eggs. How wrong I was by the misinterpretation of the name of this dish. By no means does it mention that it is a creamy mushroom sauce, like one you would order with pasta for lunch/dinner! When I explained to the waitress that this is very creamy and I expected mushrooms tossed with garlic and kale (as the description mentioned those accompanying ingredients & not creamy dairy sauce - she said 'oh yes I don't know why this is on the breakfast menu.. There's nothing I can do'. What a shocking response and I will never go back to Sardi - I would rather give my money to plenty more cafes in Melbourne.
Ilovefood
What a disappointment!! I came here on Valentines morning with my boyfriend for breakfast. We were seated uncomfortably close to other couples who weren't talking and clearly listening to our conversation.
the waitress asked us if we'd like a coffee, my partner ordered one and i asked for the 'red velvet valentines milkshake' that was advertised on a massive poster on the wall. She said she had to check to see if they could make it. (??) She came back and said 'ahhh we can't do that'. i asked 'why are you advertising it then???' she said 'i'm not sure'.........(?????) It was valentines day morning around 9am and they can't do this special valentines day shake. i suggested she should take down the large poster, yet she didn't like that comment. she then rushed me to look at the other drinks to 'make a decision'.
I ordered the mushroom breakfast ragout - there was enough mushrooms to feed an African village. however, the flavour was only GARLIC (do not recommend this meal). Also our meals took over 1/2 an hour.
I don't understand the hype about this place.

Came here for breakfast, I ordered the egg and bacon ciabatta it was delicious! And the price was reasonable for what you got! The coffee was also good!
Food Comatose
Atmosphere:This little humble dwelling on Church Street, Hawthorn, delivers great, beautiful food! The cafe is lambent with natural light from the large front window and although there isn’t much room, there is ample seating and cushioned benches along the wall, as well as some stools at the coffee counter and along the window as you watch the world go by. The white walls, counter and seats create a fresh, clean space where one can sit and reflect with a coffee or catch up with an old friend. Also, I recommend you check out Sardi’s cool graffiti artwork outside on their wall – saa #indie.
Melbourne Food Social
Nice place. Food was great. Had the big breakfst and the breakfast salad and they were both great. It's a small venue and I believe they are just tweaking the fit out at the moment. Cannot fault the food. We did have to wait quit a while for the food through which was one of the only negatives.
Birdman
If I could give a zero I would as they did nothing worthy of one point. When we arrived we sat down and eventually ordered, once the order was in they said it would be a delay as there was only one chef... Could have told us on arrival instead of waiting for us to order... Pretty shifty. Waited 40 minutes for horrible flavourless scrambled eggs and the saltiest inedible bacon that I can see had been cooked the day before and then reheated in an oven. Had one piece as did a friend with his bacon and left the fatty salty mess untouched. Wouldn't come back if I was paid and wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.

Sardi is a small and busy cafe in the Hawthorn area, offering a range of all day breakfast, as well as lunch menu options. The food is reasonably priced, with good flavours. I ordered the chicken burger - probably not one of the healthier options on the menu, but a definitely a delicious meal, especially with the sweet potato fries.
Nickr31
We Had the pea and haloumi fritters. My gosh were they fritterabulous! We also had the superfood bowl. Kale was fresh, poached eggs were delicate and cooked just right. Little gem. Owner is quite friendly and the venue is rather cozy. Will definitely be back.

This place has made it to my #1 brunch spot in Melbourne because of two dishes- the smashed avocado... it has saganaki (!!!) and the mushroom ragout that is so creamy and delicious. This place wows every time! They do need to invest in better less wonky tables to make the dining experience more pleasant. For that reason only I'm giving it a 4.5
Rena Zhu
Nothing but love for this lovely brunch spot! MUST-TRY the superfood bowl, honestly fills you up so much & such a great mixture of flavours (peanuts, lemon juice & avo 👌) and of course the sweet potato fries were baked to perfection 😊
Gossipgalaxy
The chicken burger was nothing special, however, the fries were yum! Ordered the famous acai bowl as well & it turned out really good. Definitely recommend the bowl.

Came here after seeing many photos on Instagram from my friends eating there. I went there with high expectations in all honesty but I was quite disappointed. The cafe was very squishy with not much room and there wasn't much privacy in terms of conversation. The food was good but I was quite disappointed with the fact that they had run out of the bread for the chicken burger so they had to substitute for another bread. When I order something, I expect what I ordered especially if it is only 1pm. I do think this place is a little overrated and I wouldn't go back.
LROSE24
Second time visiting this cafe and will certainly not be back. Both times service has been appalling. After waiting 45 minutes for our food, it arrived substandard. The avocado on the smashed avo was black!! The most unappealing breakfast I have ever been presented. Upon notifying the waiter, he told me that he doesn't work in the kitchen so doesn't know what's going on. He then proceeded to tell me that the avocado was "mature" and this is why it was black. I have NEVER been served "mature" avocado like this at any melbourne cafe! Very very disappointed.

Love breakfast at Sardi, definetly one for the rotation of cafes in hawthorn, and probably my favourite one. cute setting and several meals to ponder over each morning which keeps me coming back to try something else. And crucially the coffee is quite decent!
Nicole Walsh
This place used to be good. Went there the other day and all the staff were all different and so rude. Used to be able to order a variation on a meal numerous times and then when I ordered it I was told I wasn't allowed to. The waiter checked with the kitchen as I have never had a problem before and the chefs lied and said they had never made this meal variation before for anyone. completely untrue. Very disappointing especially being lied to. Atmosphere was terrible in this place with the new staff. My friend asked one of the chefs about the situation herself and he was so rude.
Sweetlikesugar
First visit this morning, always packed out whenever I have gone past. Assumed being the morning after GF it would be less busy which it was, good idea!
The cafe itself is very small with limited tables so I can see now why there are always people hanging around outside.
They have a good choice of breakfast options, which both myself and friend settled on the Smashed Avo with Saganaki or Quinoa Loaf with the option of adding poached eggs. They were delivered in a good amount of time, as were the coffees we ordered.
The food was really delicious and the Saganaki was a nice twist on the usual Smashed Avo you get (come on it's a standard in all Melbourne Cafes these days!)
The service was friendly, quick and unintrusive.
Would definitely return to try their Acai bowl I spied on the menu.
Anna
Food and coffee was absolutely amazing. Couldn't fault the quality of our meals!
Love the healthy vibe, only downside is the size! It was super busy so service wasnt very speedy but other than that, definitely recommend :)
VegoWolf
Had to have name put on the list to wait for a table. Very busy which is a good sign. Decent prices and very friendly service. Was quite cramped seating wise but that's part of the vibe I think. I had the special which was 5 grain porridge, the garnishes were absolutely delicious, caramel used apple and crumble thing and the actual porridge was quite nice. Would consider going back.
Ferguson
I went here for the Acai smoothie bowl and it was really good! The atmosphere of SARDI isn't the greatest (we are in Melbourne, everything is supposed to be hip and cool right?) and the staff were just okay.

On weekends, Sardi Cafe is a regular destination with the kids. They have a lovely menu healthy and naughty food options, prices are reasonable, coffee is good and their juices and smoothies are even better.
Winterchild87
Not bad.... Coffee and fresh juice is lovely... banana bread french toast tasty... one hiccup- was given the wrong breakfast (pea fritters with salmon and avocado i atead of bacon as ordered)... but they happily exchanged without any drama :)
Unagi
Food is yummy but service is very questionable. Had a seriously strange experience with a waiter there. I arrived late to meet a group of friends who had already ordered food and the waitress quickly took note and gave me a menu. I was very hungry so as the male waiter who was also there was standing next to me I asked if it was Alright if I ordered. He gave me a really weird look and didn't really respond and finally replied 'fine' to which I asked if he really wanted me to order or wait for the other girl working 'go then' he responded. I felt so flustered I messed up my order and didn't order a drink but decided to leave it rather than bother him again. Felt really weird and uncomfortable for the rest of my meal. My friends told me that prior to this they also had similar experiences. Wouldn't come back here. Food is great though and came very quickly after I ordered even though it was busy.

The wait was about 40 minutes for three dishes. The waitress forgot to give us the avocado dip that comes along with the sweet potato chips despite asking for it twice. She also forgot our coffee order but it was settled towards the end as a take away. The sweet potato fries was the only best thing we ate.
Wei-Chi Lee
Great little cafe with some delicious food! A bit of a wait to get seated on weekends but well worth the wait. The banana bread French toast is absolutely delicious. The avocado brownie is also a must try!
Melbourne Bruncher
Service has been terrible all 4 times I've been here. Meals always take 45 minutes - trying to get someone's attention to take our order is always a challenge.

Takeaways are not prioritised, an acai bowl taking 20 minutes to be prepared. Staff are fine but not overly friendly.

Food is absolutely sensational which is a pity it can't accessed in a reasonable timeframe...
Lily_Lieu
Best French toast in the East. Highly recommend. Good coffee and a cute interior. Looking forward to trying the new sister cafe in Syndal when it opens.
HH24
Small cafe, jam packed even on a mid week morning. Food menu packs a punch. Great coffee unfortunately despite asking for extra hot, comes out room temp.

Popped in on a sunny winter afternoon for a late, late brunch. Little and cosy, Sardi prefers to let the food sing. Since it was so late in the day, we missed the crazy busy brunch crowd and the staff were already commencing their wrap up for the day. They were friendly albeit a little faraway – but who could blame them when the weekend was so close for them?
Fondue12
The only negative thing about Sardi is that it just isn't big enough! The food, coffee and staff were all fantastic. I would highly recommend it and look forward to returning to try one of their superfood bowls (possibly on a weekday when the demand isn't so high).
Kate Dougherty
Finally bit the bullet and tried Sardi despite hearing disastrous stories about astronomical waiting times on the weekend. I was pleasantly surprised however when we arrived at 10:45am on a Saturday morning and were seated within 10 minutes! I ordered a green tea latte and the banana bread french toast with pears, salted caramel sauce and mascarpone. The green tea latte had a lovely subtle flavour and came out nice and hot. Similarly the french toast was divine! Probably one of my favourite brunch dishes in Melbourne. Everything about it was delicious. I had no problem at all devouring the whole thing despite is huge portion size.

Still missing my Japanese holiday and hanging out for some matcha goodness, I spotted a picture for a matcha latte on my instagram and beelined to Sardi for my green tea hit. Their matcha latte certainly looked the part. The taste was pleasant if only a little too weak for my tastes. I still prefer the near perfect one down the road at Tana.

Pretty disappointed with the service! Sardi had been on my brunch to do list for a while! And the smashed avo was on my hit list!
However when we got there today I was heavily disappointed!
I got the smashed avo, which was two pieces of toast with avo and poached eggs topped with saganaki!
Now my toast was black.. Which was to the point that I couldn't eat it coz it was like eating charcoal and my saganaki was cold..

Now watching the staff handling the over flow of people coming in trying to get a table was a joke.. It seemed that even if u where on a "list" that if the waitress's mates came in; that the list didn't apply to them!

Never again!

Really cute little place with a quirky menu, not many seats though so get in early. The food looks really good (and tastes good too) - we had the acai smoothie bowl (delicious) and the green superfood bowl see photo). Smoothies are great too! Would recommend!

Sardi had been on my breakfast list for a very long time, and I was super eager to try the açai smoothie bowl. Sadly we were told upon arrival that we couldn't order these!! After re-evaluating the menu, I then decided on the superfood breakfast bowl. Overall it wasn't a bad dish, however found it slightly difficult to eat with the fork as the kale leaves had been chopped up into such small pieces. Perhaps slightly wilting the leaves could make it easier in future. I would definitely recommend squeezing the lemon over the dish also, as it tastes quite bland otherwise. I noticed they offered matcha lattés as well, so tried my very first one! To be honest, I'm a little on the fence with the matcha craze - and this matcha latté didn't do much to persuade me either way. I'll definitely have to come back for that açai bowl as I left the cafe with a somewhat empty feeling.
Food: 3/5
Service: 3.5/5
Environment: 3.5/5

I had the brekky board (17.5) while my friend had the granola (10.5), both gorgeously - and very photogenically - presented. The food itself was tasty though the granola and green tea latte were a little lacking in flavour. Still, I can see why it's so popular with locals as I would definitely become a regular if I lived nearby.
The pleasant atmosphere and quaintness of it all will likely charm you, and both our food and service arrived quickly, but the lack of friendliness was noticeable.

Very cool menu and good breakfast though the staff arnt that friendly and in fact I remember spotting some eye-rollings , other than that its worth trying and would like to go back and try their other stuff.

I have a new routine every Saturday morning. I attend a booty barre class at the Melbourne Pilates Method Studio. It's been a long long while since I've attended an aerobics class or the gym, simple because I never liked to sweat. How I managed to keep myself in a good body size and weight is due to a disciplined regime of healthy organic eating and most days, especially recently, I fail. I promised myself I will get on track and soon.

Busy little cafe even for a weekday! Waited 10mins for a table, they were great in getting us drinks while we waited. Menu is quite charming, very 'yummy/moorish' food. Service was fantastic with a smile! Hopefully they can expand to meet the demand. Yummy

YUM. This tiny little cafe has everything you want if you are lucky enough to get a seat. An amazing breakfast and lunch menu and if you need more options the specials board will blow your mind. Ive been a few times but would never bother on a weekend with the swarms of people that want to get a taste. Pea & haloumi fritters are impecable. Majority of the staff are excited to hear your feedback adding to your food experience. Which is what its all about! Added bonus are the great smoothies and juices AND everything is super super affordable!

Came to Sardi for the first time today. We had to leave a contact number as there was a wait for a table, but it was definitely worth it in the end. We ordered the smashed avo and mushroom ragout, both with poached eggs. The food was absolutely amazing, definitely one of the best breakfasts I've had. Only negatives were that the saganaki was slightly over cooked, and the ragout was extremely rich and filling. Would definitely recommend this cafe if you are prepared to wait for A+ food!! Can't wait to go back and try more off the delicious menu

Loved my breakfast at Sardi, amazing flavours. Tried to come here with a larger group, we had called that morning and as they don't take bookings they put our names down and assured us there would be no problem getting us a table. The girl who I spoke with called me back shortly after and said it wouldn't be possible to have a table for 9 and asked if we would mind going to their sister café Muharam and they would have a table waiting, of course we didn't mind and the food here was also amazing!

This Cafe is always packed as it's one of the only ones in between Hawthorn and Richmond. It's also very small, so sometimes the wait is long. The food here is good, my favourite being the wild mushroom ragout with eggs. Always comes out with the ragout packing tons of flavour and the eggs being cooked perfectly. Coffee here is also good.

On a lazy Sunday when D and I decided to to brunch and got Miss P to come along with us too. Since Bear was back in Sydney, we got CB to come along as well. Sardi was the pick since it was kinda in a middle ground for us (well not really for me, but I really wanted to try it). CB bought the pup along the lucky for us, the people at Sardi were nice enough to put a table outside so pup could come with us.

Miss P has previously been here with Bear and said great things about the fried chicken burger. Her and D both picked the chicken burger for this visit. The chicken burger came with cabbage slaw, pickles and a side of sweet potato chips. We agreed that the chicken burger was one of the best chicken burgers we have tasted. The flakey batter on the tasty chicken breast and the slaw cut through the heaviness nicely. It got a bit messy to eat but it was so tasty, the mess was worth it.

Was very pleasantly surprised by this small cafe. Driven past many times but never tried before. We went around 2pm on a Thursday and it was buzzing. I had a chicken sandwich from the special board which was delicious and my friend had the southern fried chicken burger with sweet potato chips. Both delicious! Great service and fairly reasonably priced. Definitely recommend!

Love this place! Menu is so fantastic and healthy, hard to find elsewhere. Go here often and the breaky board is a fave. Go for the pea and haloumi fritters or the granola - the coyo is incredible. Coffee is also great but can be pretty slow when busy. Can be pretty hard to get a table if you don't get there early, there aren't many seats.

the breakfast salad is a damn good time. five stars. absolutely bang on. because health. because consistent. because balanced. this place needs more seats. lunch time
on a thurs & peeps were lined up. taste sensations.

When Sardi first opened I was very happy that we finally had a café on Church St Hawthorn making top quality breakfasts. Every time I have eaten here I have been impressed by the quality of the food.Unfortunately, it has become so popular that there is a line waiting to get a table from 9am on the weekend. I suppose this is as a result of the great food and the tiny space the café occupies. Food 5/5, Coffee, 4/5, Service 4/5, Delay in getting a table 1/5.If you have the time to wait it is worth trying.

Such a cute place, shame it's so small! Came for lunch on a weekday and had to wait a while, can only imagine the wait times on the weekend!
Definitely worth a visit if you can handle the wait
Food Comatose
I ordered the rainbow inspired Acai Smoothie Bowl ($11.00), with toasted buckinis, coconut and seasonal fruit (strawberries, kiwi and banana). My lovely friend couldn't resist ordering the Smashed Avo ($14.50) served on a quinoa loaf with lemon, pepitas, poached eggs and wait for it... HALOUMI re obsessed with peanut butter like me, you will fall in love with this magical concoction of almond milk, cacao and kakadu plum wpi, banana, dates, roasted almonds and that delectable thick peanut butter. My friend ordered the Berry Bliss ($8.50) with mixed berries, coconut milk and lychees. It was quite sweet yet very refreshing! The best part of this experience is that we ate soo much delicious food, to the point where I had to undo one button on my shorts, but it was all ridiculously healthy and guilt-free!

UPDATE:

We ordered the banana bread French toast, the big brekkie and a coffee. The food, as per usual, was spot on! The acoustics can get pretty loud in there however and the confined space means there's no hope for a private conversation unfortunately.
Out & About
Not bad but I expected more. I popped into Sardi this morning (tuesday) with 2 mates for a breakfast & a laugh at about 10am. IT WAS PUMPING! The place was full the vibe was cool. I was seated at the front window & told that when a table became available they would move us onto it, this is were the problems started.
1) Three other tables arrived after us & were seated before us, without explanation or so much as a care, while they continued to provide us with menus, water & coffee in the front window as if that was going to be where we would be eating.
2) If you are going to put "Wild Mushroom Ragu" on the menu, you can not use store bought field mushrooms from a mushroom cultivator. It is a sham & horrible miss representation of the dish, as "Wild" would imply that they are a foraged or locally picked mushroom that grew outside!
3) the then aforementioned "ragu" was mixed with cream - that hadn't been reduced properly, hadn't be seasoned - & a handful of dirty kale that clearly hadn't been washed. Dumped on top of two pieces of bread that may or may not have been toasted as the were swimming in non-reduced cream. On top of all that were perfectly poached eggs & parmesan. SO BAD!!!
I also had some bacon (nice & crispy) & some grilled halumi which was nice.
My friends had a chicken sandwich which we were informed was left over from yesterday but hadn't changed them over yet & the green pea fritters that were slightly undercooked so you could taste the flour in them.
Coffee was nice & the fresh OJ was excellent & a great serving size.
I have focused a little on the negatives in this review but would like to STRESS that with a bit better menu writing & a couple of hard & fast lessons to the floor staff this place has the bones to be amazing. It just isn't there yet.
Maybe I had heard to much hype about this place & expected a Barry, the next Ora or 3 bags full in the old days. It wasn't but that doesn't mean it can't.
First lesson, make sure you serve what your menu says it is. Field mushrooms aren't wild.

I had heard a lot of good things about this place prior to my arrival today. From their photogenic 'smoothie bowl' filling my newsfeed and the whispers from private school girls hoping that model and Sardi lover, Steph Smith, would walk through the door. So today, I battled the rain and hail to check out what all the fuss was about. Walking in with a friend, we were surprised that the café was packed at 11am on a Tuesday! We nicked the last available table, where we sat within inches of the tables next to us (who got a fabulous view of my backside as a squeezed through to sit on the cushioned bench). Although it is not an ideal place to go for a conversation in private, we quite enjoyed the intimacy as we were able to eye off the food from other tables prior to placing our order.

Coffee orders were taken straight away and came out almost instantly. As a soy milk drinker (I know.... gross), I was delighted to see that they used Bonsoy milk. My friends coffee was dressed in gorgeous latte art, which she unfortunately drank before I could snag a photo! Great coffee, so no complaints here. But onto the important stuff...

I ordered the Superfood Breakfast Bowl ($16.5) which consisted of asparagus, kale, avocado, bukhinis, lemon & chives, topped with two poached eggs and almond dukkah. Wow. For what seemed like a plate of greens, I was really taken back by how tasty it was. The lemony dressing really complimented the ingredients in the bowl and the dukkah added beautiful flavour (suprising considering I'm not the biggest dukkah fan). The eggs were both poached to perfection, oozing over my greens (win). It was filling, but not in a food-coma, need a siesta sort of way. Double win.

My friend ordered the Açai Smoothie Bowl ($13) which was topped with toasted buckhinis, cocount, goji berries, strawberries, banana & kiwi. This was delicious!! I loved the textures of the topping mixed in with the runny smoothie laying underneath. I honestly felt like a was eating the grown up, healthy version of a Yo-Go!! And look, I'm normally a poached egg kinda gal but I this dish was a stand out winner in my eyes.

Verdict?

I wouldn't want to come back on a weekend with the fear of a massive wait line in the small cafe, so I would love to see them upgrade to a bigger venue to meet the demand! Despite this minor detail (which wasn't really a problem for us anyway), food was spectacular and the service was all class. Would it be weird if I came back again tomorrow?

Sardi may be located away from the main strip of shops on Church Street, but you can’t miss it – the vibrantly coloured graffiti sign that adorns the brick wall beckons all in. And the food that comes out of this small cafe seems to be keeping patrons coming back for more – the space has well and truly become a staple port of call for many discerning locals. Sardi’s increasing popularly means that you’ll need to be patient to get in on weekends, but once you do it’s well worth the wait. The cosy fit-out features a large communal bench and tables dotted with fresh flowers to brighten the mood. This is a place you’d really like to stick around, either flicking through a paper from the front bench or watching the barista team work with clockwork efficiency. The menu houses all the favourites with a clear health-conscious focus. The acai bowl was one of the better ones that I’d tried to date, and packed with superfood benefits and pops of freshness. The superfood salad was absolutely bursting with greens; a massive thumbs up for those looking for a lighter brunch. The highlight of our visit was hands-down that mushroom ragout – delectably creamy, the mushrooms were so rich in flavour, increasing in intensity with every mouthful. I have to note, however, that despite sharing dishes, we didn’t even manage to make a dent on this dish (it was that rich – servings are, mind you, massive!). Coffees are great (with the house blend being Niccolo), and for those looking for something a little different, Sardi also serves up a lighter version of a matcha latte, as well as healthy smoothies jam-packed with flavour. On a side note, it would be a sin to walk out of here without one of the muffins or cupcakes that Sardi h

Dissapointing-not walk in friendly. Whilst seating is limited/tight we were told over a half an hour wait despite there being x 2 free tables and other loose seating available. Staff said they needed to phone people on the wait list to come back in for the available seating. They were also quite keen for us not to wait inside w. staff suggesting we wait the half hour out in our car on a cold wet afternoon. Not very accomodating or welcoming. Went elsewhere.

I’ve tried coming here on the weekends but its absolutely packed, understandable given the limited seating space. On a rare weekday, I took my mum in for brunch and there was no wait – hooray! We were seated at the window (yay for natural light) and I loved the simple set up and fresh flowers at each table. And how pretty is my mum’s cappuccino art! The famed acai smoothie bowl in all its colourful glory – not only a piece of art on the plate but so so delicious. Chock full of crunchy bits of chia seeds, toasted buckinis, fruit and coconut on top of a cold acai smoothie.

Worst service. What a shame Wouldn't go back. What a waste of time ended up waiting for an hour and didn't even get a seat. Just told not much longer when asked how long the wait was then friends of staff just show up and get taken in even though they weren't on the list. Should have left 40 minutes earlier when others left because they were unhappy with the service after being seated for 5 mins. Such a shame was really looking forward to trying this place but now put off returning and wouldn't recommend to others either.

Terrible Service!!!!. I've been so excited to visit this little cafe, the menu has a great offering of healthy options however I've never encountered such terrible service!!!! I sat there for 20 minutes whilst the waitress was just walking around I asked Her politely if I could please order when youre ready she continued to say hi and bye and chat to people for another 15 minutes fluffing around I then had to ask her again to order she didn't seem to give a crap wasn't unapologetic that I had sat there more than half an hour waiting to order. So disappointed !
She Eats And Eats
Disapointing!. I was so excited to come here because a lot of my friends were raving about it. Yes the food was decent, and the matcha tea and smoothies were great... But waiting 45 mins for your food and being pretty much ignored when you're sitting right next to the kitchen?! That is a very poor effort and horrible customer service
Hartono
Such a disappointment for my first time. Went to the store standing for almost 10 min with nobody trying to help, even when i noticed some of them knew me standing. One of them turn her back on me to talk to a customer when i was obviously standing next to that sitted customer. Until a staff came to me to tell me their kitchen had closed. Shouldnt they told me abt it right when i stepped in?
E L I Z A B E T H A N N
Fail service. I am sure the food is great here but it would probably make sense for the wait staff to tell waiting customers that the kitchen is about to close... rather than waiting until the kitchen has actually closed whilst the customers are still waiting for a table and about to be seated. It just does not make logistical sense.

If you don't want to wait too long for a table, I suggest getting their early in the morning. Service was very slow. It look them 15 minutes before we were served and our food took 35 minutes to come out. Our meals were delicious however and the coffee was great. They serve water with cucumber and lemon which is a nice idea, however not when the cucumber and lemon is reused. Normal water would be fine.
Hungry Boy
I was dissapointed. We were two of 8 people in the cafe and our meal was forgotten about for an hour! Enjoyed the coffee and smoothie while we were waiting but left feeling hungry!

Full of flavours, perfect spot for quick bite. Tried salads few times and has never let me down. Lamb tacos are perfect. Burgers are yum!!

We got there at 9am on a Saturday and it was pretty busy already- we were lucky as a table had just finished up and were just leaving. We took a seat, however, we had to ask for a menu minutes later, and for the table to be cleared. They cleared the table but then didn't wipe the table...
another five minutes before I got to finally flag down someone to take our order...

Our cutlery got placed down at table but still not wiped- Didn't make a fuss as it would have taken them another ten minutes to do so.

When the food finally came after about 35 minutes after ordering, we enjoyed the toasted banana bread- that was quite tasty and unique with its flavours. The big breakkie was average, not bad.

It was busy- perhaps they need more staff...

Although we enjoyed the banana bread, we probably wouldn't go back.

A real winner. One of those cafes you drive out of your way to go... Staff friendly and the chef has a gift.. Menu is well thought out with quality products

Loved it. Best berry smoothie ever! The aesthetic of the place is great and staff were lovely! Definitely going to be my place of choice for brunch :)

Coffee was just ok. Not fantastic. But food was awesome, very friendly customer service and nice smile(only wait staffs).

Great Food. I visited here a few weeks after they opened and loved it! Nice little space with lots of nutritious options - I didn't know what to have!
The only negative was that the coffee blend wasn't strong enough, but that's just my taste.

Superfood Bowl. Delicious

The place for coffee in that part of Richmond/Hawthorn. Had a very satisfying coffee at this fresh looking, smaller cafe on Church Street. My strong soy latte was naturally sweet, so I didn't need my usual full teaspoon of sugar.

I've tried coffee at a lot of places in the Richmond area and would definitely put Sardi as number one, followed by Gypsy and Mosquito.

Great friendly vibe, solid coffee, amazing sweets, friendly smiley staff, well priced! A+ on all fronts!

Superfood Breakfast Bowl and Pea and Haloumi Fritters. Delicious late breakfast at Sardi today. Great job on a busy Sunday guys!

Free Coffee For A Like!. Had a latte at this newly opened cafe. I saw the sign on the notice board while waiting for my coffee. It says “Like us on urbanspoon for a free coffee”. My latte tasted bitter and unpleasant. Maybe that’s why they have to offer people freebies for liking them on social websites.

Love our new local! Lots of healthy options, the home made paleo bread is so good!

Sardi. The most amazing food.
clean, healthy and most important BEAUTIFUL.

We are so lucky to have this cafe so close by, tried it once and have been back several times since.
staff is welcoming and coffee is top notch!

Amazing. I had the trio of sliders and I tried the soft tacos! The sliders tasted amazing, packed with delicious flavours as were the tacos. Great coffee, and friendly efficient service. This ones a winner!

Yum!. Second time we've been for breakfast and both times were delicious. Breakfast board was fab, superfood bowl, so tasty! These pea & haloumi fritters, delish. Definitely recommend!

Great food, would definitely recommend!

Cheap Soy Milk!. Got charged 50cent extra for vitasoy, not cool.

Have only been here for takeaway coffee but as someone who needs to opt for skim milk, they make a great tasting coffee, something which many other cafes struggle with

Kids Unfriendly, Forgetful Waitress. Went there for a brunch date with a friend and my boy. The waitresses didn’t seem very welcoming when they saw us walked in with a two year old. One of them asked table for two? I pointed at my son and answered no there are three of us. She said two menu readers then. It wasn’t busy, yet it took a while for our coffees to arrive. The latte I ordered had an instant coffee after taste, and my friend’s short black was very bitter. 10 minutes after we ordered the drinks, the waitress came back to our table to ask if we’ve ordered our drinks, and it happened again with our food order, 15 minutes after we placed our order we were asked if we have done so and when we said we have already ordered, she asked us to tell her again what they were. Interesting menu concept, although it looked like they have copied and pasted dish to dish from a few of the cafes in the area (Bridge Road, Gelnferrie Road, Church Street etc). Food was rather underwhelming.

Loved it. The service was great. I had the kale superfood salad and it was beautiful. I would suggest outdoor seating if possible

I have had coffee here a few times now, and am yet to be disappointed. We ate breakfast here yesterday for the first time and were impressed with the freshness and choice on the menu. We will definitely be back!

Love this new little cafe in my neighbourhood! The coffee is great, staff are really friendly and the smashed avo is delicious. My partner had the egg n bacon ciabatta and it was also great. We'll definitely be back to try more as the menu looks very appealing

Great food and coffee. Unfortunately was sat at front door on rickety table that moves every time someone eats. Got pushed in the back by waitresses countless times and was told a table was coming up and would be moved. Unfortunately 10 other people walking through the door appeared to be more important and I was left getting hit in the back and whipped by blowing wind from front door! Shame as food was really interesting, healthy and appealing. Was dying for another coffee but in the end was easier to leave unsatisfied!

SARDI is a relatively new cafe that has popped up around the corner from my house. Mum and I had agreed to go visit it for a number of weeks. We took baby steps towards visiting – first grabbing a takeaway coffee / and finally getting around to grabbing some breakfast. We’ve been there a few more times since this first initial eating. The outside of the building – seems pretty unassuming, but don’t underestimate a cafe that has a groovy motorcycle parked out the front. The menu is seasonal and embraces the healthy / superfood / paleo lifestyle with open arms (something that pleases me as an adapted–paleo–lifestyle–er) – seasonal and fresh ingredients are combined to created some fantastic dishes. And also fantastic–LOOKING dishes, as SARDI puts just as much effort into the presentation of their dishes as the taste – they’re absolutely aesthetically pleasing . Very rarely can a cafe nail both but SARDI doesn’t and doesn’t even seem to bat an eyelid about it. The counter display also adds an injection of sugar to the healthy food fare at SARDI , with a variety of house–made cupcakes and paleo sweets that change often. FREE RANGED POACHED EGG / ON SOURDOUGH / WITH FIELD MUSHROOMS – $12.50 For the first time in such a long while mum pulled a classic mum and ordered a slightly boring dish – eggs and mushrooms on toast. However, I guess when a cafe can nail the basics than that’s a promising sign. The mushrooms were apparently deliciously buttery, the toast had a nice crunch to it, and the poached egg had a great burst of runny yolk inside (I didn’t get a photo because both mum and I were too busy stuffing our faces). ACAI SMOOTHIE BOWL / WITH TOASTED BUCKINIS / COCONUT / AND SEASONAL FRUIT – $11 Look at this. Just take a moment to look at this beautiful testament to food. I almost didn’t even want to eat it because I didn’t want to ruin it. This bowl has completely converted me to acai – I don’t care if I become a bit of a health wanker ordering this. It was deliciou

Posted on November 7, 2014 by incrednibbles 0 I had driven past this place several times as it was getting renovated and I always wondered what it was going to become. Previously a small sandwich take-away type store, it’s not very big and probably didn’t get much traffic coming in and out. It wasn’t until it opened up and the giant SARDI sign caught my eye as I drove past that I thought “oh awesome! A new cafe!” It was a few weeks later when I was deciding where to go for brunch with a friend that I did my usual urbanspoon and instagram stalk to check out what kinds of things they had on their menu. It took me about 1 minute to scan the photos and the menu provided on the website and I was hooked. I knew then and there that I would need more than one brunch at this place. (And so far, I’ve been back three times… ) On arrival, I fell in love with the place. They had used the space really well with a beautiful white bench along the left leading into the kitchen, and a long booth type seating on the right. The white walls and chairs look fresh and are complimented by bright coloured seats, cushions and pineapples on the shelving behind the counter. A La Marzocco machine sits on the bench towards the kitchen and pumps out beautiful Niccolo coffee – a brand of coffee I’ve never had before. The barista makes a beautiful coffee and I get two long blacks nearly every time I go! One thing about the menu is it has a lot of choices and it actually made it hard to choose what to eat first! I’m not usually one that takes ages to choose, but I had to ask the waitress for a few more minutes so I could decide. The first time I went, feeling a bit hungry as I watched the girl next to me get the Smashed Avocado put in front of her, I decided to get the same thing. She kind of made my mind up for me. Smashed avocado on quinoa loaf with lemon, haloumi, pepitas and poached eggs ($16.50). It was a great size – I was so full. And it was beautifully presented. I like the crunch from the p

Sardi Cafe is located on Church Street in Hawthorn and has such a welcoming and funky fit-out with super friendly service to match! The cafe makes the most of its small space with seating both inside, outside and along the window. The brightly coloured cushions and modern furniture finish off this cafe nicely. As you approach the cafe you will find some equally awesome graffiti artwork that displays the name SARDI along with a cute coffee cup person. Sardi has an all day breakfast menu – think Breakky Board, Wild Mushroom Ragout as well as a Superfood Superbowl – as well as a lunch menu and the most delicious smoothies available as well. I have a soft spot for Lychees – so when I saw that the Berry Bliss contained lychees I had to try it – and boy am I glad that I did

What’s this? It’s my first review as a Melbournian! SWEET.

Loved out brunch at Sardi with bubs and a friend last weekend! They clearly put proper effort into going through every single detail to make the place look and few cosy. I loved that every bottle of tap water was infused with some fruit or herb and every table had a little fresh flower & fruit arrangement on it.
