Best brunch I've had in years man, friendly staff, reasonably priced. Really impressive menu with a fancy but thoughtful twist that actually works. Can't wait to go again!

Gosh has it really been 2 years since I've been here? Mmnn haha I don't think so.

Anyway I called into this cafe to get some take away brunch.

Now the service is absolutely delightful, so friendly, polite and welcoming.

I ordered an avocado smash for my partner and I must say that the presentation of this dish was superb. The poached eggs were soft, the avo was tasty and it was the little details that mattered. This was a great dish.

Now my fried chicken burger was d'lish. The salad was fresh, the chicken crispy on the outside and soo well cooked on the inside! Yummo. The only thing extra I wanted was a bit of extra mayonnaise. The chips were well cooked, some crunchy, and some a bit softer.

Overall this was another great brunch and I can highly recommend this cafe.

And it won't be 2 years before I'm back again, hahaha.

I had brunch here today. Wow what am awesome experience I had.

The service was excellent, and I was warmly greeted, offered a newspaper and some water. Lovely.

Food wise I had chilli flavoured eggs w bacon which was perfect. This came w scrambled eggs, small ham pieces, a good hint of chilli, crispy perfect bacon, fresh cherry tomato, fresh radishes and a rocket salad ... delicious! Oh and it had cheese shavings and amazingly good sourdough toast! OMGosh hahaha it was the best I’ve had in a while.

My piccolo latte was really good too. This place has genuine vegan and vegetarian options too, I.e not just salads lol

With seating out the back of the cafe and single seats at the window for people watching, this cafe is a must visit! And parking is easy too.

Finally got to visit Sardi cafe this morning after seeing it all over Instagram. Staff were nice, welcoming and attentive.

We ordered the Chocolate Brownie Waffles, Eggs Benedict with Chorizo and two lattes. The latte art was so cute and the coffee was perfect.

I really enjoyed the brownie waffles, it was a decadent dish yet not too sweet or heavy. The addition of the walnuts in the waffles gave a nice texture. The vegan ice cream, raspberry compote, crumble and chocolate sauce worked together so well. I was super impressed that these waffles were vegan! I'd definitely order this again in future.

The eggs benedict was such a tasty dish. It was served with a generous portion of bacon and the eggs were poached perfectly. The sriracha hollandaise was so yum, although there was too much on the plate.

Overall, Sardi cafe is definitely worth a visit for brunch if you're in the Hawthorn area!

Sardi was our first dine in experience after lockdown and we couldn’t have asked for a better place! The brightly lit cafe and friendly staff created a very welcoming environment and the food just topped off the whole experience!

There was no way we could turn down the banana bread French toast - an incredible combination that I definitely need more of in my life 🙌🏼 the French toast was very rich and extremely delicious, paired perfectly with sweet raspberry mascarpone and topped off with ice cream and fairy floss! The maple grilled bananas were out of this world! This dish had the perfect combination of taste and texture

The açaí smoothie bowl had some delicious ingredients and toppings, however it was slightly too watery for my liking. Highly recommend adding some peanut butter for some extra taste!

The malteser milkshake is a nice twist on the usual chocolate milkshake that paired perfectly with our meals. We also tried the chia banana smoothie which was equally tasty!

Overall highly recommend a visit to Sardi!!

In these horrible times when our country is in lockdown, this is the time our favourite cafes need you the most.
Support them by either buying a gift voucher you can use later on or order food you can takeaway.
Sardi is one you should definitely consider if you live in Hawthorn.
They have a great range of healthy, vegan and gluten free options using seasonal produce and cooked with lots of love.
We stopped by a few weeks ago thankfully before the whole pandemic broke out here and managed to satisfy our tastebuds with genuine, droolworthy food. Not sure if our eyes did most of the eating.
Started off with their signature Sardi sling to get my appetite going. It was so refreshing and perfect for the hot Summer day. Packed with all the good stuff- Apple, carrot, orange, beetroot and ginger so makes you feel less guilty when you binge eat on the rest of the meal.
Can’t leave out eggs when you’re brunching right? I’m not a big fan of them but I had help to eat them.
Smashed Avo is the newbie on the menu and definitely stealing the show. Poached eggs, smashed avo, roasted veggies and that balsamic vinegar was the best element of the dish.
Such a great balance of flavours!
We also tried the hangover cure which had poached eggs on sourdough, grilled tomato, spinach, bacon, chorizo, mushroom medley. Enjoyed everything on this platter except maybe I would have like the bacon to be a bit more crisper.(I think being a chef, I tend to be a little too fussy)
Finally ended with their signature Banana Bread French Toast.
This French toast is not your usual kind.
Believe it or not, it’s made with banana bread. Yeah what am I saying right?🤣
And then served with maple grilled bananas, raspberry mascarpone, almond crumble, fairy floss, vanilla icecream and edible flowers. Threw in some candied bacon too cos you guys know how I love my sweet-savoury dishes by now.
It’s sugar heaven indeed!
If you need to feel a little better as you get through all these big changes, call Sardi now!!

Sardi is a such a delicious and hearty little venue in hawthorn! We ordered the waffles, vegan board and the pannacotta which absolutely satisfied all cravings. The waffles were soft and lathered with decadence. The pannacotta was vibrant with a strong outburst of flavours and the brekkie board was perfection! Would highly recommend!

We were invited to Sardi today and I remarked to my husband how pleasing it is to see a cafe really stand the test of time. We have been coming here for years now and in the competitive cafe game not many venues have this sort of endurance.

Today I ordered the smashed avocado even though I wanted the brownie waffles but was trying to be good. Their latest incarnation of this dish is actually really enjoyable though, a classic executed really well. Hubs had his default chilli scrambled which came served on a croissant which was a cool way to innovate this breakfast staple.

For our third shared dish we went for the bircher which was served in the cutest coconut bowl. I thought this was one of the tastiest birchers I have ever tried and was sincerely impressed that they continue to elevate the standard here.

Further update
We were invited back to Sardi to try their new menu. I had a hankering for smashed avocado and their rendition is jazzed up with saganaki, charred corn and beetroot hummus looking like a rainbow on the plate.

My favourite dishes today however were the ones they brought out to us to showcase and I’m so very glad they did. The saffron rice porridge which is something I’d probably never think to order was truly delectable and extremely impressive. Beautifully presented and a perfect harmony of flavours. I absolutely adored the sweetness of that stunningly poached saffron pear and pistachio praline worked brilliantly as an additional texture.

The other dish that wowed me was the Korean fried chicken burger accompanied by the yummiest of sweet potato fries. The burger itself was a sight to behold. A colossal tower of deliciousness doused in honey soy glaze and kewpie mayo. I just can’t wait to go back!

Update
We were invited to Sardi today, a tiny cafe but it sure does have a long and exciting menu. I started with a mango coconut smoothie which was very tropical and while I almost went for the Oreo waffles I ended up with the banana bread French toast.

This was an excellent choice. While my initial bite was burnt (the edges) the majority of the dish was moist and delicious and I absolutely loved the brûlée banana with it. I was kind of annoyed by the excessive amounts of herbs on top though, I firmly believe these have no place on any brunch dish particularly sweet ones. Hubby got vegetarian chilli folded eggs which certainly looked impressive for a savoury menu item.

The main event for me was supposed to be the peanut butter pancakes that I had seen plastered all over Instagram and my main motivation for attending today but they didn’t quite measure up to expectations. The peanut butter itself tasted exactly like it was applied atop the pancakes directly from a jar of Kraft and it didn’t quite work with the sweetness of the chocolate pancakes.

The sweet potato fries with avo looked good but we were too bursting to even consider it. I will say the dishes are generous serves (befitting the price point)

Original review
I had the superfood breakfast bowl which was fairly bland but I guess this is a healthy brunch spot and you can't expect too much from a dish that is primarily made from kale and asparagus. Wish I'd gone for the hot cakes or even the porridge.

📝: Loved this little cafe in Hawthorn, definitely cute spot to head to when you’re craving for breakfast or brunch.

❤️: They’ve recently launched a new menu, featuring the Banana French Toast, Chili Scrambled on Croissant, and much more. We loved the Fritters as well, so delicious and crispy!

The acai was pretty weird. Peanut butter did not taste anything like peanut butter at all! So better avoid that dish.

Sardi has a nice and cozy seating area at the back. A perfect place to plant yourself down if you’re doing some work. The tables are wide so of working, can accommodate laptop, coffee, meal etc plus it has enough space between the neighboring tables.

The service was fantastic and courteous. Coffee was silky and smooth and came with some funny and fancy pictures in the foam. Cute.

Meals are ok but would have expected larger servings based on the prices. The menu was varied enough. As for taste, nothing to complain about but nothing to harp on about either.

The friendly service, coffee and atmosphere would make me come again.

The food was beautifully presented and had so many vibrant colours! The variety of menu option for all dietary requirements was amazing! There was endless amounts of meals to chose from or alter to meet your needs. The falafel bowl was nice. It had really good flavours I. It and looked so pretty. The falafel had a nice flavour, although were a bit firm and needed to be a bit softer. Also more sauce would have been nice too. The avocado dish was stunning. The vegan egg was such a nice addition and tasted incredible. It looked like real egg. The avocado serving size was generous although was a bit brown so left a not nice after taste. The bread was soft and two big slices were provided. The jackfruit burger was a highlight. The jackfruit just melted and had an incredible taste to it. The soft bun worked really well with it. Just wanted lettuce and not rocket in side as it too over the dish with the amount used. The browned looked absolutely incredible. They were full of flavour. The brownies were just a bit too hard and need to be a bit softer but the rich chocolate and walnuts inside tasted really delicious. The fresh juices were so nice and a stunning colour. The iced chai was nice but lacked flavour. Definitely a nice place to go for beautiful dishes and a nice meal.

How cute is the latte art at Sardi Café : ) I had a lovely brunch here with my family. We ordered the southern fried chicken burger, the apple pie pancakes and the waffles with crispy chicken. The food was delicious, and my kids loved the pancakes. My husband said the chicken burger was great.

Awesome cafe with $12.50 burger specials on Mondays and Fridays and $5 tacos on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Great friendly owner who goes out of his way with his staff members to provide quality service and to rectify any concerns without asking why. Highly recommended

Featuring their taco specials! ($5 tacos Tue-Thu) Ordered two fish tacos and one pulled pork to share alongside another dish - Wild Mushroom Medley ($20). The fish tacos were good, crispy little fried fish nuggets on a bed of creamy slaw. The pulled pork taco, was a little skimpy on the meat but otherwise the flavours were pretty nice. We loved the mushroom medley! Well seasoned sautéed mushies on turkish bread with feta 🤤 I love the texture of Turkish bread so I really enjoyed this! Also smashed a bowl of fries ($8) that stayed crispy even when it started getting cold! Also enjoyed the perfect cup of coffee + matcha! The coffee had the cutest little bear latte art 😻

We visited this cafe on a good sunny day with a little breeze, so it was a perfect day to be sitting outside. We had: 🍔Fried Chicken burger with fries🍟 Loving the crispy coatings on the chicken. It was a tasty burger with fries to match. Delish. 🧇Brownies Waffles - beautifully presented with striking colour combinations from all the elements of the dish. The flavour of the brownie waffle and overall flavour combination perhaps could use some improvements. The raspberry compote was still prominently sour despite the other sweet ingredients being there 🥪Pulled Pork sandwich (we chose turkish bread) it was quite enjoyable sandwich with the tasty and generous slow cooked pulled pork. 🍵 Matcha latte ☕️ Cappucino Their latte art are so adorable and loved how they include little caption on it! Overall a great cafe to hang with friends or loved ones for weekend brunch or afternoon coffees.

Super lovely and cozy local cafe with warm and welcoming staff. The menu is fairly extensive, with a range of typical brunch dishes as well as more unique ones. There are also many vegan and gluten free options, so there is definitely something for everyone! The dishes I had were beautifully presented, with well balanced flavours. The brownie waffles were a little bit harder than I would have liked, but it was only a minor negative that didn’t detract too much from the overall dish, which was delicious 😋
