I have been to this cafe on a couple of occasions, light/bright & airy. Plenty of seating options inside and plenty of seating outside to enjoy when the Melbourne weather is sunny �. Staff always friendly and attentive, great menu selection and the meals we have chosen have been of ample size and very tasty �. Parking is easy as the cafe is situated in an area not heavily populated with shops etc. Would defiantly recommend this cafe if you are in the area ....... in fact even if you are not, make the journey �

It has been years since I had been to Mr and Mrs Anderson, and upon hearing that this lovely cafe was under new management, I was keen to pop in to check out the changes. It still has the same lovely ambience and decor, with lots of windows letting in plenty of natural light; and it's corner location in the back syreets of Hawthorn make it a lovely, relaxed place to visit.
We were welcomed by friendly staff and talked through the new menu. There are lots of cafe classics, but some interesting fusion dishes incorporating Asian and Middle Eastern flavours. The coffee is excellent and we enjoyed a large, refreshing berry smoothie.
Starting with one of the fusion dishes, an aromatic combination of minced lamb on a base of homemade hommus, and topped with beetroot relish, pesto and preserved lemon. This dish was divine, with so much complex flavour. Very spicy, but only a little bit of heat; making this a flavour bomb. The hommus and toppings helped to cool the palette, and the accompanying pita bread was fantastic for dipping. It was fantastic to have such an interesting alternative for brunch.
I absolutely adore the new pancakes. This gorgeous stack of matcha pancakes is topped with an exquisite strawberry rose, and also has additional berries, crumble, icecream and a matcha syrup. Not only was this plate just beautiful in appearance; it was also heavenly to eat. The perfect stack of thick pancakes had so much flavour, but were still lovely and light in texture. The matcha flavour wasn't too overpowering, and the syrup added a nice touch of sweetness.
I was really impressed with the changes at Mr and Mrs Anderson, and love the diversity of the menu. It is such a pleasure to dine at a cafe with such a relaxed feel and lovely decor, and the gorgeous staff and amazing food will have me returning as soon as I can.
It was another rainy Melbourne weekend and I had a brekkie date at Mr & Mrs Anderson in Hawthorn East to kick it off. On the rainy morning we arrived, the cafe has a welcoming atmosphere and a great layout with some beautiful window seats.
I enjoyed a delicious Shakshuka and the Matcha pancakes!
Mr and Mrs Anderson is quite a small, very nice place for a snack. The place has a great feel about it and their waiters are very nice. It's not very well known because it is easy to drive past and hard to notice from the car.
Lovely find just before hoping onto the freeway.

Had a long black and cronut to go. Coffee was good without being great, salted caramel cronut was delightful
Lunch at Mr & Mrs Anderson was so yummy! 😻😻 Love this bright cafe in Hawthorn for their TRIPLE COOKED FRIES (yes you have to get this) 👌👌👌, salted caramel shakes and slow cooked lamb shoulder 😋😋😋 Delicious!

Pleasantly surprised by this little cafe in hawthorn. Came here for coffee and found a lovely atmosphere with good seating inside and out.
Chai latte (loose leaf) was excellent. Lots of nice sweet treats available if you wanted something to go with your coffee.
A friend said the meals were pretty good and certainly the menu wasn’t your mainstream food.
Good parking out the front or in side streets. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Takeaway food available. Dietaries catered for.
Will return.
A nice brunch spot located in Hawthorn East that serves some delicious brunch options! Their fermented chilli eggs with kaiser steak and pressed milk bun was a fun play to the usual chilli scramble. Their benny was a nice classic dish. Will have to check out their new dishes soon!

Mr & Mrs Anderson has an ideal corner spot on Tooronga Road in Hawthorn East. Opposite the schools & sports ground it’s a popular place for parents in search of coffee & food. The interior is sleek & streamlined but with lots of personality too. I loved the modern wood paneling down one side and a wall of hand painted tiles imported from Mexico.
We started with coffees which were strong and rich & ordered a few dishes to share. The menu is really creative & we were excited to try some different dishes.
I ordered the pork belly Benedict, served with Yorkshire pudding, flamed pineapple, Tabasco & apple spritz hollandaise. The presentation was impressive & the pork belly was perfectly cooked. The flavours worked so well together & it was a delicious take on a Benny.
My friend ordered the confit chicken & cauliflower salad. It was a filling salad with buckwheat couscous, sprouted grains & cumin labne. It was loaded with flavour & a lovely lunch dish.
We finished with the Japanese soufflé pancake served with brûléed pineapple, coconut jam, wattleseed caramel & passionfuit gelato. This dish was stunning! Amazing flavours & the soft soufflé pancake was complimented by the other elements on the plate & the sorbet was so refreshing. We really loved this dish & the plating was also impressive.
If you’re looking for some creative dishes in a relaxed setting, I’d highly recommend heading to Mr & Mrs Anderson. Thanks so much for having us.
I enjoyed my experience at Mr and Mrs Anderson. The service was extremely quick and there were a few quirky things on the menu. The food was good, and the layout of the restaurant is super cute as well.
Came in on a Monday for brunch and absolutely loved it. Fresh food, great coffee. Food was presented immaculately and the service was spot on. Will definitely return !!
