I love this place, great chef, lovely owner, very large meals, very tasty, perfect for students and locals. Highly recommend to all. I stop here often, park in the side street, great courtyard out the back, I like to read the papers and my book. I love their breakfasts and soups!!!!! We have tried their catering and we were very happy!

Once a week I attend this quaint cafe for my daily fix of the matriciana fettucini which is freshly cooked and served hot on arrival. I find the service friendly and welcoming. Strongly recommended.
Awesome. Such a lovely place to sit back drink a coffee and read the paper, has a nice cosy courtyard in the back, lovely people who work there, nice specials and the coffees are perfect. would highly recommend to anyone! SS out
So good! Best coffee in Hawthorn! Food is always amazing filled with flavour. Best chai late ive ever had. Really lovely court yard with nise shade and even lovlier staff members. Nice vibes and nice times highly recommend checking this place out!
I had the breaky bruschetta the other day, it was brilliant. perfect poached egg I could moosh through the bruschetta mix. olive bread was tasty. fetta was fantastic - meredith fetta I think the menu said? staff were good and tea was quality.
Really cute and quaint cafe. Yummy food at good prices. Only downfall would be the size of the meals. I had porridge for 9 dollars. A wee bit steep for my liking.

Fantastic coffee, food & service!. Found this little gem of a place at the recommendation of some friends (always a good sign). First impression was of a warm friendly place where I could spend a lazy hour or so with friends.
First the coffee, it's Veneziano & the Barista knows how to get the best out of the beans.
Second the food, fussy orderes were accomodated without a care in the world & the food came out promptly and was wonderful (the corn cakes and b'fast bruchetta were favs of my friends, sadly I didn't order either!).
They also have a wonderful outside area (out the back), for those with puppies the staff are happy to let you in the back entrance!!
If you are looking for a high stress nosy pretentious annoying cafe, this is not the cafe you are looking for. On the other hand if you are looking for warm attentive service, backed up by stunning food & great coffee.
Now if only they would move closer to my home......

For those who love coffee like me, By Basia is the place to be. It is the gluten free café that also offers the best drinks at its coffee shop. I love coming here and enjoy all the foods that they have on the menu.
Good coffee. Delicious food. My local go-to.
