Being in the area for lunch we popped into the bakery for a take home muffin for a sweet treat having been long term fans of their offerings. The blueberry muffin was fresh and generously filled with fruit. Absolutely delicious
On the way to work desperately needed a coffee. Stopped off here and managed to get a coffee and head back on the road in no time. Coffee was made quickly and it was good. Middle roasted and a had a sweet taste to it. Will definitely come here for another coffee.
Have been coming here for over 8 years on and off, and seen a couple of different owners. Coffee is consistent and Strong. Muffins are some of the best I've had, always fresh and generous. Staff are friendly and helpful and it's unpretentious. My girls enjoy fresh squeezed juice and a sausage roll.
Consistently great coffee and friendly service. Food is also really good, I find it hard to pass up the noisette Danishes. Open early so i can sneak in the before work coffee. Gold! A favourite local for me.
Solid local cafe.
Good without been exceptional.
Limited cooked lunch options.
Cakes hit and miss except cheesecake- exceptional
Service a little inattentive.
Skip this and go to Crabapple up the road.
Getting better ....
It was attractive with mediocre service and average food, apart from their rustic bakery products.
It has gone better now.
Went there during the christmas holidays and absolutely loved this gem of a place. Went there for a table for 2 and was seated straight away. For drinks I had the iced coffee and my sister had a ginger and carrot juice. Both were nice but I preferred my caffeine as I haven't had one in the morning. For breakfast we had the baghdad eggs and the basil avocado smash. I enjoyed my baghdad eggs. I especially loved the bread they served which was like a roti pan fried in chilli butter. It was nice and chewy yet crispy. On the other hand, my sister was left a bit disappointed as there was barely any basil flavour in her dish, which turned her breakfast into something a bit too ordinary. She had a taste of mine and absolutely loved it. I'll definitley give this place a try again and try something else, maybe the matcha latte:)
P.S. if you bring your car it's better to get there after 10.30 as parking restrictions end at 10.30am and we got there at 9.30am just wondering the spots as it was permit parking or just an hour spots which we wouldn't have been enough.
My local, I love it, they always make my Chai latte extra hot, just as I like it. A lot of places don't. Please don't ever leave Glenferrie.
Usually pop in to Chapel Bakery for a coffee or light snack so I can't really judge them on their main dishes. Very cosy and popular cafe. I'm a fan of the backyard area especially in the warmer weather. Just a nice relaxing venue. From memory they have a tasty New York Cheesecake but on last occasion I just has a toasted focaccia.
Squeezed into this cozy cafe on busy Glenferrie Road for brunch on Sunday morning.
Matcha latte was definitely too sweet and traces of Matcha were extremely minimal.
Food took longer than expected to arrive.
Mushroom bruschetta tasted okay.
Staff were lovely and apologetic for the long wait.
I'm a regular here. Always efficient service with a smile. Love the private courtyard- perfect setting for a relaxed brunch! Consistently Good coffee & good food.
FINALLY a GREAT COFFEE!
Praise be ...... and the lamb was AMAZING ..... melt-in-your-mouth sort of stuff ..... incredible flavours - worth a trip just for that dish alone .... the pita/bread underneath was a bit too hard, but easy to overlook given how good the rest was .....
Highly recommended in a little strip with lots of competition!
Enjoy.
One of the first cafes I stopped in when I moved to Hawthorn, now over a year later and I still prefer them over anyone else. The food is always great, and when I feel like trying something new and ordering something different than my usual, I'm always pleasantly surprised. Coffee is some of the best I've had in Melbourne, and you can tell the Baristas are passionate about what they do. Staff make a strong effort to get to know customers (names, coffee orders, etc) and are always smiling and happy. Go team, great job!
Great cafe. Food always fresh and friendly service. The coffee is very good also. I love the courtyard setting especially for a casual brunch.
My husband and I always love coming back to Chapel Bakery. The food is consistently on point and coffees are smooth and velvety. Recommend to anyone in the area.
One of my regular for breakfast back when I went to uni nearby. Smooth coffee and breakfast. Their eggs Benedict is one of the best I've had. Service has always been friendly.
Definitely the Best coffee around. Food is excellent, really like the pastries and potato rostie. The service is good although a bit slow. Worth to come long way from home for breakfast here...
I love this place! There's something for everyone on the breakfast menu, and consistently delicious food & coffee. The potato rostie is amazing!
Love the coffee. Fresh pastries, highly recommend the almond croissant. Breakfast menu looked good ( will come back to try). had 2 coffees both had latte art, perfect temp and tasted smooth and creamy. Service was upto standard. (Water straight on the table at arrival etc..)
Nice food. Just had brunch in this nice cozy café. The pan fried chicken breast with zucchini spirals and veggies cooked in tomato base was well seasoned. Zucchini was thinly shredded and spiraled like linguini; impressive. The open omelette was beautifully done with mushrooms, spinach, zucchini and cherry tomatoes. There is a good selection of bread, wraps, sandwiches, pastry and cakes. Bought home an almond croissant and sunflower seed bar; very nice.
Fantastic coffee!! I'd say one of the top 10 in Melbourne...

Cosy little cafe. Friendly service and consistently good food - the soups were generous, piping hot and delicious! A lovely little haven that is always worth a visit. Highly recommended!
This place never let's me down! Every time I'm in town it's the one place I want to visit! Best coffee! Food is amazing and fresh and best of all is the ALL DAY BREAKFAST. Can't speak highly enough of this gorgeous cafe!
We made a great decision to stop here for lunch. Menu is different to the usual run-of-the-mill & is fabulous. Service is friendly & atmosphere unlike all the trendy offerings that are clones of each other. Don't miss this place-it's well worth trying.
Lovely friendly staff & delicious food!. I went to the Chapel Bakery Cafe for Sunday brunch after a late night. After arriving with only a few friends, our group expanding to a group of about 15. The staff were amazingly friendly and accommodating about moving chairs, tables and shade cloths to accommodate us.
The food arrived shortly after ordering and was absolutely delicious. The fresh juices and milk shakes were also great.
Perfect cosy little cafe with lovely outdoor area to enjoy the sun.
Great Cafe. I love going to this place, food is always fresh and the coffee is perfect. I particularly enjoy the breakfast menu. The service is amazing and the staff are always friendly.
No crying in this Chapel. Beautiful coffee, and deservedly popular
Fabulous breakfast. The continuation from my previous post... with my disappointment from Lil Boy Blue, this is the extension of my travels. Literally within 2 hours of that breakfast, husband and I were still hungry. We stumbled upon this cute cafe whilst shopping. Both the service and food were outstanding! My soy Chai Latte had to be one of the best Ive ever had. The service was super friendly and when we ordered to when we received the food had to been within 15 mins? It was a very enjoyable experience. And will certainly bring friends of ours by.!
Good Coffee. Gooood coffee. Hard to come by with the abundance of coffee stores in this area.
A great find. Chapel is the perfect place for breakfast every time. Not too busy, which is really great around these parts where you seem to have to queue for brunch anywhere after 10am on a Saturday morning. 10 out of 10 for value and quality of produce, I give it a wholehearted thumbs up!
Consistently fantastic coffee. Brilliant staff, really try hard, Ollie the boss is omnipresent. Food v good with nice specials. Great pastries. Kid-friendly. Favourite Hawthorn coffee-shop for past two years
Coffee is good and pastries fresh worth. try
Great Coffee.... Great coffee....and believe me I know my coffee. Bircher was lovely, fruit toast, although nice, was very light on.
Love the artwork!. Chapel has great food, coffee, and team! The minced lamb wraps are always tasty. I also really love the new photos on the wall! Parisian images are beautiful and perfect for this French inspired cafe.
Nice spot, nice food.. Great spot that always produces fantastic food & coffee! Perfect balance between quality, quantity and price. Lastest edition is a tasty looking new rear courtyard.
Great food and coffee. Had an awesome club sandwhich (big serve, fresh and tasty!) and coffee over lunch with work mates. Will be back for sure!
Surprise Package - Loved it. Loved the coffee and the food. In what looked like a new large courtyard out the back my girlfriends and I could enjoy a peaceful chat in a perfect setting.
Coffee was the best I have had in Hawthron and the Club Sandwich I ordered tasted great and was enough to feed an army. The Rostie with Grilled Halumi and Avocado Smash my girlfriends got looked great also.
Will be back soon for sure.
Chapel is slice of heaven. Petite place to take a pew and paw over pastry and paper. Coffee is good (not Axil or Santucci good) and breakfast is outstanding. And the best thing = its not in Chapel St
Great coffee! had a raspberry muffin which was awesome too
Went for breakfast with the wife and by no doubt had the best coffee and breakfast in Hawthorn. I had the complete breakfast and my wife had the salmon royal. Eggs cooked perfectly and the complete was very filling. Will be visiting again real soon me thinks. If only it was on my way to work in the morning.
The veggie breakfast was one of the best Ive had, the staff were so welcoming and friendly we immediately felt at home in this wonderful cafe. I will definately be back again.
Great Service & Atmosphere. I heard about this place through a friend. Ordered Eggs benedict and it was delicious. The bread was so nice it is woodfired sour dough and I ended up buying a loaf as they sell them there. , My partner had the soup which was a mediteranean lamb meatball and loved it. Reasonably priced and good coffee also. Definately worth the visit.
Breakfast burger is the BEST in town! Friendly staffs, great coffee.
We are regular customers at Chapel and look forward to the brilliant coffee, great food and exceptional service. The ambience is perfect. The menu is updated seasonally with innovative fresh tastes. The staff are attentive and responsive. The cafe has a good balance between the rear courtyard, the main indoors and street seating - and caters for a range of patrons. We think it's the best.
Drinks are always good and the sandwiches in the counter are delicious.
Dined in today though and had the special, french toast with banana, and... Honestly, it was the extremely skimpy for the price. For $12.50 you got two small pieces of toast, a small scoop of ice cream and a grand total of four slices of banana. I understand there's always a mark up but this felt extremely stingy. My friend's breakfast burger was also pretty skimped on for filling.
Love you, Chapel, but you're slipping. Your dine in door used to be great.
Best coffee on Glenferrie! Jay and the crew are amazing. If you haven't stopped by, give it a try, you won't be disappointed!
The staff are all fantastic and know you like your family with what you eat to drink. The food is absolutely tastes great and adaptiable to changes to suit. Love the coffee and food..😊😊😊
