Lovely venue for tasting and view. The wine tasting person was a bit uninterested. So the experience was a bit off a let down. We orders the food truck food and that was nice. We had a perfect day for the venue.
We had a lovely selection of dishes and of course paired with some lovely wine! 🍷 we had a few starters and mains
To Start:
▫️ Broccolini, macadamia feta, potato, olive
▫️ Mushroom Parfait, mushroom jam, cherry, crispy shallot
▫️ Roasted Onion, tumeric curry, quinoa
▫️ Zucchini, salmon roe, sandalwood nut, quince
We loved our starters, they were all very delicious, but two of my favourites are the zucchini and also the mushroom parfait! The combination of flavours for these is just right. The roasted onion I felt had flavours of an Indonesian dish - which we also liked!
To Follow:
▫️ Green Olive Risotto, daikon, kaffir lime, celtuce
▫️ Rainbow Trout, pak choi, chardonnay, mustard seeds
▫️ Lamb Belly, lovage, peach, piccalilli
▫️ Rare Kangaroo, black garlic, palm hearts, blood lime
The rare kangaroo was probably the most interesting, and although we don’t normally opt for this, but because this was the recommended specialty, we went with this choice and was happy we did! Beautifully cooked and presented! The trout was lovely and so was the risotto. I would say that the lamb belly had a very a strong lamb taste so if you aren’t a big fan of lamb, the taste might be too overpowering.
One of the best places I visited, the food was incredibly delicious, interesting menu changes regularly, and the service was so on point, the waitress was knowledgeable, friendly and professional.
Always a fan . Wines are amazing. love the feel.
Great experience at TarraWarra Estate. The views were very beautiful and the food was very tasty. The kangaroo main was delicious, paired with their side of potato salad. The fog dessert wasn’t what I expected but was worth trying. Overall, lovely experience for both dining and location.
This may be my favourite place I’ve ever eaten, sincerely. I’ve had such positive experiences my last two visits to Tarra Warra. They use fresh ingredients from their vegetable patch, have very knowledgeable waiting staff, a lovely wine selection and most importantly, deliciously different dishes. The kangaroo may be the best protein dish I have ever eaten. Such a stand out in fact that I’d made the 2 hour commute back to try again the week after. The winery also has a sizeable museum and one of the most architecturally beautiful cellar doors I may ever see. Check this one out!
Perfect day out of Melbourne. Delicious food, wonderful experience.
Entree: The oyster mushroom was the highlight, absolutely decadent. Mountain pepper beef tartare was very unique and a pleasant start to the experience.
Main: The Kangaroo was well cooked, tender and flavourful.
The pork done three ways was amazing. Pork crackling was the highlight of the dish.
Dessert: Rhubarb tart and chocolate dishes were both extremely memorable.
Service was amazing, staff are really friendly and helpful with explaining the menu. They also gave us complimentary sides with our main and made general conversation with us.
Highly recommended!
Probably one of my favourite wineries I’ve visited. The view, the drive in, so far..so good! We entered the restaurant and had a fantastic table right in the centre of the window tables with a fantastic view. The service was outstanding, we had the friendliest waitress who catered to each table differently. We decided to do the 2 course option instead of the 3, with the option of adding a cheese board at the end. My partner had the wagyu and I had the watermelon with feta as our starters. I could have eaten a salad bowl full of mine, and my partner polished his plate off. They both had that ‘what’s hiding underneath’ presentation, which we both found funky. For mains my partner had the trout, very pretty presentation and a good combination of flavours. I had the green olive risotto, perfect amount of salt from the olives and perfect serving size. Each table was also given complimentary hummus with bread and vegetables and a side to share with your main. We had a bottle of 2013 Pinot noir which was LOVELY so we gravitated to the cellar door to buy a box or Pinot noir. The staff in the cellar door were fantastic, so fantastic in fact we signed up for a membership! Overall a beautiful spot, it’s a very intimate restaurant, outstanding food and a beautiful view. I highly recommend!
Excellent view, great food and service and interesting menu, a great Australian take on some traditional items with some local wines as well.
Stand out dishes include the duck and the 50 degree rainbow trout! Loved the ambience of the restaurant and had a lot of fun at the cellar door. Definitely a winery to stop by!
