Great food with friendly, efficient service. A decent variety of dishes available. All at a very reasonable price. Ring through you order and it will be ready for pick up with no fuss or lengthy wait times.
This is a very unassuming cafe - it’s always empty when I walk past but has been there for years so I assume they have a lot of take away business. I came by to get takeaway for lunch. They have lunch specials for only $6.80 - a protein with a side of fried rice. What a bargain! I ordered the sweet and sour pork with fried rice. The meal was ready in 5 minutes. Straightaway when I opened the container I noticed there was a generous serve of veggies and meat and a little rice, which was great for lunch because you don’t want to be too full. The fried rice was OK - there wasn’t anything special about it but it wasn’t bad. The veggies were fresh and cooked well. The sauce was good - it wasn’t one of the bright red sickly sweet ones you get in the food courts - it’s proper sweet and sour sauce. The only letdown was the pork - each piece I bit into was mostly batter and very tiny pieces of pork. I have to say the batter was nice and chewy and deep fried well, not oily at all. But I felt as though I was eating batter with fried rice. At the price that I paid though, I can’t really complain, but next time I’ll try something else instead. The place looked clean and the lady boss was very sweet and polite.
Very good value for money. We had the lunch special for $6.8 and there were 8 dishes to choose from all served with fried rice. Good food and good service. Their banana fritter was really light and crispy and it's definitely the best we've had in Melbourne
Good old Australian Chinese food. Consistent quality. Standard menu. They'll throw in a bag of prawn crackers with a couple of mains order.
Formica tables make this not a great eat in date place. Fantastic takeaway though.
Lovely local place, have been coming here for as long as I can remember. Sally (the owner) will always welcome you with a warm smile. Would definately recomend for a visit.
Hasn't changed years. The decor needs a bit of a revamp but those prices! It's like it hasn't updated their prices since the nineties. Your not going to get a five star meal but a good asian meal.
This is a great place if you are looking for value for money. Special fried rice is excellent for what they charge, as is the chicken and cashew nut. You get what you pay for and I'd rather give these people my money than pay double for the place a few doors down. It's similar stuff but you pay a premium for the fixtures and fittings. The lady that serves you is really lovely and I always go back to this place for the consistency of the food at a great price.
Been coming here for 15 years plus, food and prices haven't changed, nor has the delightful lady that runs it. Fancy it ain't, but nor are the prices. This is good home cooked Chinese, freshly prepared. I still think the special fried rice here is the best I've ever had anywhere, flowerdrum, choi's, all throughout Asia, etc included. This is best thing about Highett and it'll be a sad day if/when it ever goes. Support it while you can.
The special fried rice was one of the best I've have had in a long time.will definitely go back. NG SING CAFE is take away only at the moment
This is my number one Chinese takeaway restaurant. Old school Chinese the way I remember as a child. The owners are super friendly and I always feel welcome. The food is delicious and the portion size is generous. Prices are also reasonable. I can't recommended highly enough!
This place is took me by surprise it's a very old shop with a very few chinese decorations but the food is so authentic and yummy, that was left speechless. After that yummy food I decided to try their banana fritter with ice cream and that was truly my high light of the year I've never tasted a banana fritters so good the batter was extremely fresh , light and crispy.I can't wait to go back there and try their pineapple fritter with ice cream. I'll definitely be bringing all my friends here .ohh most of all the prices of the food are so cheap that it makes u wonder how can u get so tasty good food so cheap.
Best place for fried rice around. Small family run take away that it an instition in Highett.
Suddenly, I'm back in 1967...!!! A brilliant blast from the past.
Always friendly. Phone your order or be prepared for a long wait at peak periods, such is the popularity. And take cash; they are waiting for Bankcard to emerge.
I have tried many different Chinese restaurants and I always seem to come back here because of how delicious their food is. I always recommend to my friends this place
Love this place. Unassuming; nothing fancy, just good typical Chinese TA dishes.
