Canton Noodle House is a hidden gem: you could walk past 1000 times and not know it was there. Inside is reminiscent of 1960's Kowloon. Do not be dissuaded by appearances - the food is outstanding. Noodles of any type, wontons, noodle soups; any and all traditional Cantonese fare - whether listed on the menu or not - are specialties. The noodle soup base has a delicate combination style and the noodles are cooked to perfection. Serving sizes are as generous as the prices are reasonable. Service can be abrupt which in many respects adds to the charm and is understandable when you witness the volume of meals being pushed out of the kitchen and through the dining room to hungry diners. Well worth a visit.

Very authentic cantonese dish that reminds me back home in Hong Kong.
The wontons were filled with chunky meat, not mince, different but delicious. The sweet and sour pork is standard, could be a bit meatier. The barbecue meat comb was a bit small, most of the chicken pieces were boney.
The fujian fried rice was on the salty side but was acceptable.
Was a good feed.
Beef brisket was average as the sauce didn't marinate long enough. However the wontons are great! Overall a good place to get your dose of Chinese noodles.
Because today was a cloudy day, I went to try Canton Noodle House. I was a bit apprehensive in visiting the place as posters are all in Chinese characters. But anyway, I came in with a pram. Amazingly, the place looks big enough to accommodate 3 more prams. Who would have thought? And oh they have a second level seating. The first level area could only seat around 6 tables. Luckily, they have a English menu and the lady in charge was very accommodating. Fast and friendly. I got the chicken noodle soup. I didn't wait long for my order. As I said, everybody who is working at the restaurant were all busy but moved quickly. I noticed that the dine-in servings were a bit small so I was pleasantly surprised to see my take-away to be big. The bub and I were so happy with our soup. Hopefully it will cure our flu. Taste and price are perfectly spot-on.
I've only been there once but am looking forward to going back - we ate in the main dining room upstairs - the decor is very basic, the menu items on the walls are in Chinese, and the diners are all Asian - I could just as well be in Hong Kong. Highlights for me were the Shantung Chicken and the Beef Noodles with Silky Egg Sauce (I forget what it's called exactly on the menu). Great food, generous serves, very affordable prices - my personal trifecta.
Your standard Hong Kong eatery. Interior isn't flash however it's too cantonese food. Best 'water dumplings' in the area with soup. Go for 'fook geen tsow fan' (combination seafood fried rice with duck) too.
Delicious chinese style food for a very good price.
Calling themselves a 'noodle house', i had to try their noodle soup. I ordered the beef tendon noodle soup with added wontons. My friend and i also ordered deep fried pork with salt/pepper, combination chow mein and a beef and egg noodle dish to share. The broth was light but delicious, the noodles were cooked perfectly, the tendon was nice and gelatinous and the wontons were really good. An added bonus is that the dumplings and wontons are made in house (pretty sure) as i saw a lady handmaking them. The noodle dish alone is only $12, great deal for what you get.
The salt pepper pork was crispy with a good amount of spice/seasoning and not too much grease while still being juicy. The combination chow was standard and the beef and egg dish was good for what it is. The highlight was the noodle soup - fantastic. I must also mention the food came out really quick. Props to the chefs for such efficiency. The only downside of my experience was this one waiter who was constantly staring at us in a weird and paranoid manner.
I've been coming here (frighteningly!) for 20 years. It's very basic, but the noodle soups are the best I've had anywhere in the world. We moved away from Hurstville many years ago, but still make the southbound treck for this great little restaurant. Keep it simple when ordering, avoid the "western" choices, and you won't be disappointed. Finally had the chance to sit downstairs last week, felt like we'd finally become CAN royalty!

MY FAVOURITE LOCAL CHINESE TAKE AWAY! I have been frequenting Canton Noodle House for 15 years and the quality of food has been consistent each and every time! Honorable mentions go to their Wonton egg noddle soup, salt and pepper prawns and squid, mixed seafood laksa, and their chicken chow mein. Just divine !
Amazing food. Large servings. Chicken wings, combination laksa, steamed dumplings, and salt and pepper squid by far the best dishes. Bit salty though so make sure you have plenty of water after
One of my favourite canto places to eat. The specials pasted on coloured cardboard written in Chinese and the lady wrapping dumplings downstairs is an indicator of authenticity. It's small with an upstairs and not fancy but the food is lovely and not too expensive.
The stuffed tofu, tofu with sauce, clear beef broth and noodles and dry noodles are all very tasty much like everything I've had here. The servers can be noisy putting away cutlery upstairs abc sometimes it's easier to fetch your own sauce than ask a waiter for it but I enjoy every visit.
Go here for traditional Cantonese/Hong Kong style cuisine. They do clear broth noodle dishes pretty well. The interior of the restaurant is plain. The food is pretty good though.
This place will never be a fad or an Instagram favourite because theres no stupid ice cream cones make of fish or Bao's with endless fillings in sight. Not to mention it simply isn't cool enough for the Instagram kids to brag about. But it doesn't need to be because the food does all the talking. The two shops it occupies is fitout as cheap as could be done but we know it's a good thing because paintings do not adorn the wall as much as specials all written in Chinese.
For any real foodie, this place is a must. It's a rare find these days because Cantonese food takes second place to the mainlanders who have come to force feed Szchuan peppercorns and chilli oil down our throats.
This place serves proper Cantonese food. It may seem obvious from the name of the place but trust me, many fake Cantonese places are masked by Shanghai restaurants these days.
The Sui Gao (Prawn wantons) noodles are the best I have had since visits to Hong Kong. The aromatic broth is clear with clean seafood and pork flavours. The wanton itself is springy and bouncy with each bite and a generous size. The is a the appropriate blend of 70% pork 30% prawns with some wood ear fungus to ensure the right texture and flavour. Simply put, this is the best wanton and is better than any place in Chatswood. The noodles had good bite and there was a decent amount of it.
The beef brisket was rich and retained a good texture without being dry or hard and the hor fun (flat rice noodle) sourced was excellent smooth and silky.
I will be back and really do not care if anyone else does from reading this review as it's busy enough as is!
Great traditional Cantonese–Hongkongnese food at affordable prices, accompanied by generally good service. Thankfully, we got here earlier in the evening, so we enjoyed a bit of relative quietude before all of the families and their kids came. The food was quickly prepared and served, though we noted that, strikingly to us, the waitress—while nice and hospitable, as with the other staff—seemed sad. The milieu and ambience could be better, with the place looking a little shabby and worse for wear and with potential to be renovated.
All in all, we were very satisfied with this place and would happily patronise this restaurant again.
It's not hard to find a satisfyingly cheap meal in Hurstville, but if you are in the mood for Cantonese style noodles - try the crispy egg noodles covered in a gooey starchy layer of beef and vegetables. The trick is to mix things up so the sauce will soften the deep fried noodles to an extent. This place is not known for their ambience however their fast, snappy service and a large menu will keep you coming back for more.
Scrambled eggs and Chicken Chow Ho for $11.50. This is one tasty plate of flat rice noodles with a very strong wok taste. There was tender pieces of shredded chicken stripes as well as plenty of gooey eggs and peas. This is a very generous serving for only $11.50 and makes for a great lunch option if you're around Hurstville. There is complimentary tea provided on every table. Service is quick even though it's made to order. The dish comes out steaming hot, just the way I like it!
I have been going to this restaurant for years. And when I saw years I mean I was going there when I was in school, and I'm hardly a spring chicken! It is a bit rough, don't expect fine dining - you will get given chipped bowls and have to climb over bags of rice to get to the bathroom, but the food is just so addictive and is almost an institution in the area. It is always busy, I have never ever seen it empty, and at dinner time on a weekend, expect to be waiting outside for a table to be free. I’ve cycled through most on the menu, but this evening we stuck to our tried and tested favorites.
BBQ Pork Chow Mein A classic noodle dish executed very well. The BBQ pork and stir fry vegetables were coated in a thick savoury sauce and surrounded by a ring of deliciously crispy noodles. Just beneath the pork and vegetables, are noodles of softer texture which complemented the dish nicely.
...Shandong chicken Fried flounder Salt and pepper squid Abalone mushroom and bak choi Pipis in XO sauce Antiblog (ZL): Have been coming here for about 20 years and it's a safe reliable bet. Not going to blow your socks off and not super high quality produce but it is tasty and consistent.

Visit Canton Noodle House in Hurstville for good, cheap noodle soup, great people-watching and amazing creme un-brulee.
Happy regulars. We usually dine here at least once a week, there has yet to be a time that we have been disappointed. Menu is huge, the choices are limitless and the food is fresh and delicious. The service is always fast and the staff are lovely. Try the oyster omelette or flank beef noodle soup!
I love ittt..service may not be great and so does the environment.. their food is always great.. i eat here many timess i never get sick of it
Authentic and delicious Cantonese food. The flavours are lightly sweet, mild, fresh, and natural (somewhat similar to Vietnamese food). Service is friendly and efficient. I love everything from the menu.
Card payment is available, but with our recent visit, they only accepted cash payment. Therefore make sure you have some cash as well.
Beautiful Cantonese food. I highly recommend the salt and pepper squid, it’s one of the best ones I’ve had in my life. The atmosphere is great and the staff is friendly :)
One of my go-to for quick dinner places in Hurstville. Always tasty, flavoursome and quick service. Ask for a table upstair.
Been going here for many years now to curb our won ton/ noodle /congee cravings. You will see them wrapping their wonton/gow gee dumplings fresh daily and each morsel have a decent mouthful of prawn in each too.
Food is always good. Combination chow mein is my favourite.
Pretty ordinary decor but the food makes up for it.
Hokkien Fried Rice. Pretty tasty. Cook with bbq duck instead of bbq pork so slight more expensive compared with normal Hokkien fires rice. The portion is very big.
Always reliable. Excellent food. Good service. Moderately priced.
I went for lunch just to have the wonton soup as people raved about it. It was OK I certainly wouldn't rate it over average. The wontons were large with pork and a piece of prawn but I thought no unami. Egg Noodles delicious broth was not that great.
But the dishes I saw coming out looked and smelled fabulous. Like crab with noodles omg the smell was amazing.
I'd definitely come again to try the actual dishes and I loved that you go upstairs and it's a cool traditional atmosphere.
Service was awesome but cash only guys!
