Great HK food, nice and fast, seating arrangement might not be fore everyone, but we don't mind, grew up sharing tables for dinner or lunch. Pork chop right is amazing! Set menus are great for a lazy night when you don't want to cook!
Everything tasted nice here. My friend and I had a set meal for 2 which comes with a bowl of soup, rice, 2 mains and a dish of veggies. Good price and acceptable quality.
Such good deals with the sets! Craved some preserved duck egg congee and was delighted to find out they had sets for around $10 that included both the congee and a type of noodle (steamed rice rolls - shown in the photo, fried egg noodles, fried rice noodles). Good flavours and is just general Cantonese comfort food.
Fresh seafood and valuable price. Traditinal Hong Kong Cafe Style. All seafood are cooked very well and staff are friendly. The location was very convenience.
Great place to come for canto cuisine. They have a great range of tasty dishes of a large portion. Hits the spot when you want chinese food. I typically get congee, beef rice noodles, or chicken and anchovy fried rice. Prices are standard, service is pretty efficient, and they have good seating space for large groups.
Been here a couple of times. Decent price ($30) for very satisfying meal between two. Steam veg, soup and rice comes for free. Two dishes can be chosen among around 40 choices
Regular customer. Great Value for money, Quick Service. However, Food can be inconsistent. There is one chef (the owner i think) during the week that is really really good. I can tell he knows how to use the wok and balance flavours. Then.. there are days of the week.. the food is quite average.
This restaurant is always bustling with people and it is one of your typical 'Hong Kong cafes/restaurant'. The food here is really good for the price you pay, and also the servings are quite big. We really like their dumplings and noodles!
My pleasant stop 'Ming to little Hong Kong, place is bustling with locals so I knew I had to check it out, seated upstairs; which was almost full, we munched the curried beef + squid w/ veg, both dishes were decent and when combined with the soup of the day and all you can eat rice bowls at under $30 it's def. worth leaving the Union for x
Today's lunch order
Thousand Year Egg and Pork Congee:
Thick and gloopy texture, the way it should be. Slightly too much msg. Egg flavour was powerful. For $8.80 you're getting at least 2 meals out of this alone.
Combination Rice Vermicelli: Loved the combination sauce. BBQ pork, chicken, squid and greens. Vermicelli cooked well.
$19.90 for two. 30 cents for the takeaway container. Much congee left
The mixed cow innards ("ull jarp") for the meal deal is delish! With offals of all the different cow stomachs and intestines, they are a pros delight. A bargain to try out especially compared to when you order at yum cha (although this is in with noodles). Suggestion is order this with egg noodles. Try my Honkie friends :)
Mr Shawn & Miss Chicken
+4.5
...It tasted far better than it should have. A guilty pleasure.
Quick service and Large portions. Service is still all right in my books. May not be up to 'hoighty toighty' people's standards but hey the foods good.
Best one so far at competitive price. Afternoon tea my favorite.
Nice hk style cafe. We ordered scrambled egg and beef rice and spaghetti with chicken and mushroom. They are cheap and yummyyyy especially the white sauce pasta which is full of creamy taste :) love it!
Great Meal. One of the best Hong Kong style Cafes around in the St. George area. It is a very comfortable cafe with people around shouting at each other so that they can pay the bills or just enjoying the Hong Kong life in Australia. The instant you walk in, you can feel the busy-Hong kong life. Customers constantly keep coming in. Finding even a table to yourself for your family is hard even when it is two stories. Waitors are very typical Hong Kong people, so busy that they don't have time to give much of any service.
It's food is mainly chinese based with many stir fries but even so, it combines the western culture into the dishes. One of these is the Baked Porkchop Rice is just delicious. It is a mix of Eastern and Western Cousines. The fried rice base is topped with four juicy deep fried pork chops. And on top of that, is a mouthwatering layer of tomato sauce which is specially made for this dish.
Apart from serving delicious foods, it is a cafe after all so without a doubt, there are sandwiches, milkteas, coffees and many other beverages that are well suited for their own culture.
Ahh...how I miss Hong Kong. Sun Ming is a great little Hong Kong cafe for cheap eats. Serves typical Hongkie food and drinks
Been coming here once in a while for 10+ years. Looks like they have revamped their marketing and the wall poster decor.
Food is ‘dirty’ Chinese- heavy with flavour and oil but delicious. The eggplant dish is always the best best best. Salt and pepper flounder also a winner but this time the fish didn’t have a lot of meat. The free tea here is also hot and soothing- great match for the heavy food.
Can’t go wrong with this cosy Cantonese restaurant that serves up home style dishes. The congee with century egg and pork is a must get - super chunky pieces of egg and tonnes of pork all in a huge warm bowl of congee. The beef stir fried rice noodles were also so deliciously flavourful and all the rice dishes were great too. They have a tonne of dishes on their menu so you’re bound to find one that you like!!
Very nice employees, we had refills of hot food and the food good for its price. Canton house offers slightly more wok hei in its chow haw but it’s still very good! But the chips could do with some salt.
This was perfect place to have lunch on a rainy day. Fish porridge and stir fry beef and shrimp rice noodles. Everything was so flavorful and the price was right.
The service was fast and friendly.
Would definitely recommend and will come back again!
Authentic HK tea house food. Food quality for lunch has been consistent well. Service staff was friendly. The soft egg with prawns and white noodles is the best in town.
We ordered beef stir fried noodles and baked pork chop spaghetti. It was delicious and the portions were generous too.
We love this place for lunch. The food is good and consistent and prices are reasonable. The staff is always friendly.
Great Cantonese food. The XO sauce crab with vermicelli had excellent wok hei and flavour from ginger, shallots and pork mince. The sweet and sour pork ribs were one of the best renditions I've had - dry, crisp, non-greasy batter to which the sweet and sour sauce adheres very well. Plenty of pineapple, capsicum and onion in the sauce. The pork itself is juicy, with a lovely balance of lean meat to fat, and the fat on the edges is rendered and crispy (酥化) - delicious! We topped the baked pork chop rice with cheese before reheating in the oven. Quite good, although Sun Ming's tomato sauce is on the sweet side and I prefer a more acidic tomato sauce myself. All the food was packed neatly and tidily, easy to reheat (although it was still warm/hot on arrival) and delivery was punctual.
