I had the crispy chicken burger and a chocolate oreo shake. I loved the fact that the coleslaw in the burger was creamy and not just plain raw cabbage as it sometimes is. The chicken was crispy. I like cheese in a burger to be a bit melted which this wasn’t. When eating, the paper under the burger got all wet and started tearing and sticking to the food. I realise this might be because I was eating with cutlery and the burger was meant to be eaten by hand, but it still ruined the experience a little bit. The shake was average to good. Would come back!
Meat packer: beef patty was a little too salty for me but otherwise the elements were fresh and it was a reasonable serving size - the burger went down well with my companion.
Fried chicken burger (specials menu): the chilli sauce was tasty and creamy and balanced out the slaw and saltiness of the bacon. The chicken was super juicy - enjoyed this one after having some disappointing chicken burgers at other restaurants!
Strawberry thickshake was not too sweet and a decent serving size - just tasted like melted ice cream to me which isn't bad, maybe should try adding malt next time.
Came here with a 30% eatclub discount which brought the meal to a reasonable price (~$25); otherwise I would forgo the drink which I think is ordinarily too expensive. The burgers are a similar price to other burger places so no complaints there.
Been meaning to go here for ages and didn’t realise I’ve passed it so many times! I got thrown off by the metal chairs and tables outside which kind of make it feel like a dodgy fish and chips shop, but walking inside is like a whole new world. The decor is super cute and clean with diner-style booths and everything.
The fried chicken burger on the specials menu ($14) was amazing. You can hear them frying it fresh while waiting, and that really comes through in the taste. The bun was beautiful, the bacon was crispy, and the chill sauce with the slaw put a unique twist on the burger and gave it a good kick.
The vanilla milkshake was also excellent and had quite a complex flavour rather than just being overwhelmingly sweet. I‘m pretty sure they make the ice cream in house.
Really a gem in Indooroopilly, completely worth the walk from the shopping centre.
Update: Waffles were good but I would’ve preferred them to be a little crunchy on the outside. I really enjoyed the bagel. My friend thought the relish was too sweet but I thought it complemented the egg and avocado nicely. The bagel itself was super nice and buttery. Also, the mug of cappuccino they gave us was massive.
Came here for a quick lunch and I was not let down. I ordered the central park, which was a really juicy and delicious burger. The mushroom and cheese paired really well with the flavour of the beef. My only gripe is that I would have preferred the beef to be a little rarer, but it was a great burger and it was served really quickly too!
One of the best places I've been to. They make the tastiest burgers and cook with a charcoal oven for a unique smokey taste. You'll wanna try all the menu items and enjoy the theme of the place inside.
Finally I visited this cafe for coffee. It’s a nice cafe with lots of tables indoor and outdoor.
Coffee was ok, service was very good and I liked the ambience. Should visit this cafe for food...
The burgers and onion rings are always soooo delicious whenever I come here. It's a small diner joint and it doesn't fail to deliver in quick, convenient and moreish American food. Would definitely recommend.
I moved recently so I haven't had the chance to come to NKB Express as often, but I am so keen to come back. Everything from the snacks (especially the onion rings and sweet potato fries) are so fresh and delicious, and the food (from bagels to hot dogs to 1 kg wings and prawn specials and waffles) is so good. I highly recommend coming here if you're in the mood for an American lunch or a sweet treat. The honeycomb ice cream (which isn't available as often as I'd like) is homemade and so delicious. The shakes are also amazing, and the staff are extremely friendly and give wonderful recommendations if you find yourself unable to decide between menu items.
Big competitor for Brisbane’s best burger 🍔 and by a country mile the best chips in the country. A super chilled Sunday lunch venue. The gluten free bun are excellent quality. Great throwback to 1950’s American burger joint. Highly recommend the TriBeCa and the liberty burger (burger of the month). Other perks - full licensed + Plays Frank Sinatra.
Delicious, juicy burgers. Lots of filling and soft, sweet buns. I liked the theme of the place (American diner) and service was quite swift.
Had the Flatiron (waffles + maple syrup + ice cream) and husband had the New Yorker (bagel + cream cheese + onion + capers), we both loved our orders. The waffles were sooooo good!Just Grabbed a soy flat white w/ an extra shot which was great too. This place is a winner, keen to go back.
Ordered the Tribeca and Brooklyn waffles. Pork was really soft and marinated well with generous proportions. TriBeca especially tasted great! Would come back again!
Slow service, average burgers with dry meat patty and disinterested staff. Tried the deep fried pickles but way too much batter and oil. Best food was sweet potato fries.
Honestly one of the best burgers I've had in very very long time... The price of the burgers to the ingredients used is way high quality then expected which is rare. I was so thoroughly impressed with the burger i had, i will be recommending this to anyone who loves top quality burgers!
After seeing some pretty ho hum reviews for the burgers, I opted for the wings, sweet potato fries and pickle fries, via uber eats. Arrived hot and still crispy. Great wings with a good blue cheese sauce that is the too mild, like most, nor too strong. Fries were super crunchy, very unusual...And tasty. As were the breaded and fried pickles.
I will definitely return.
The idea is very clever, carefully and tastefully chosen decor brings a vintage American diner to Indooroopilly.
Menu is simple but offers something for everyone, lots of delicious options including Gluten free variations.
Booths inside as well as a street facing milk bar against the front window, and additional seating outside.
Reasonably priced, freshly cooked and served with a smile.
Premises is clean, welcoming and the background music perfect.
Nantucket is a great find and set away from the craziness of a shopping town- it's a rare find. Plenty of parking onsite a bonus.
We'll definitely recommend and look forward to our next visit.
Diner style aesthetic with some real naughty food options. The deep fried pickles are delish! This place is good for a casual lunch or early dinner :)
The moment I stepped in, I was charmed by the decor of this place, a major throwback to the 1940s; black and white tiles, olive green booths, and nostalgic photos and posters hanging on the wall, including the iconic photograph, V-J Day in Times Square. Most of the menu items are named after something that’s New York City related. You have the Meat Packer ($12) which is a burger of Wagyu beef with bacon jam, pepper jack cheese, mustard mayo, cos, tomato and pickle, or the Broadway ($12) - waffles with berry compote, maple syrup and cream.
Loved it. Burgers were tasty, especially the patties.
Thick shakes were flavoursome. Loved all the sides, especially the sweet potato fries. Will be back for sure.
I don't know why I didn't try here earlier. The girl who served me was really friendly. The takeaway order was a little slow but worth the wait! I got the midtown burger without bacon and it tasted just like I hoped! Toon me right back to my American holidays. The blue cheese sauce wasn't too strong which was good for me and the sweet pot fries are super yum. I'll be going back to try more
The best American style diner around !!! Have never had a bad meal from these guys. I love how they source all products locally and make there own ice cream, it makes for the best shakes 👌🏽 10/10 defiantly worth a trip if you're around the area
I was quite impressed with my TriBeCa burger of pulled pork with chipotle BBQ sauce. The onion rings were also very good. The fried pickles I could have done without, just give me a good crisp pickle any day.
We decided to try NKB Express finally and couldn't be more happy that we did! We decided to get takeaway, and have to say that we were pleased as we were able to demolish the burgers without judging eyes. We wondered why they provided us with lots of napkins. There is no delicate way to eat the burgers but it is so worth it! The bacon jam on the Meat Packet burger was absolutely delicious. The Midtown burger is a nice blend with the buffalo marinated chicken and the blue cheese sauce. The sweet potato fries are one of the best sweet potato fries that I have had. The mustard sauce works well with the fries as the mustard isn't overpowering. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is really warm and inviting. We plan on going back often to try the different burgers and hotdogs.
Been here many many many times, NKB is our go to burger place. The food is great value as you are left feeling full and waddling out of the restaurant. The interior is very American diner in the 50's with even the music matching the style. I always order the Bronx burger whilst will always rotates based on what he feels like but it's always a good experience. Hershey's chocolate thick shake is also probably one of the best shakes we have ever had, definitely worth the $10. Customer service is extremely friendly, and the servings are really big!! Definitely give it a try :)
Cool little American style diner, the little brother if Nantucket. Tried their bucket of prawn special and it's excellent. Huge fresh prawns, they were faultless. Also tried the hotdog which was also great. Plenty of toppings and heaps of flavour. Will definitely be back.
February 2019: been coming in again lately. Menu is better- came in for breakfast this weekend. $12 for eggs Benedict. I got the sauce on the sides as I thought it would be packet. Nope, HOMEMADE. Love this place! It’s cheap, has great atmosphere and good service.
We have been to Nantucket, live down the road from NKB and have been to both several times. We ordered the Greenwhich which was delicious, however soon ended up soggy with so much sauce I ended up eating with a knife and fork. The homemade raspberry lemonade was delish. Boyfriend had the Meatpacker which he said was good.
The batter-ratio of the onion rings (RHS of photo) was a bit over the top- we ate one each... I love batter but that was a bit of overkill. I also thought the battered pickles (LHS of photo) were going to be whole pickles, not slices and so once again, a whole lot of batter
The milkshakes are so, so good, as are the staff and the music- they keep us coming back for sure -oh yeah- the chocolate chip cookies...omggggggg
Now I'm not one for a burger all that often to be honest - but the two Uni-students love a good american-style diner with burgers, fries and milkshakes on the menu - so as we needed to do some shopping at Indro, they convinced me to shout them dinner here. Seriously good choice - even for me!
Firstly I loved the bright diner style decor and ambience - having travelled from one side of the USA to the other just over a year ago, the one thing I really did enjoy was a good diner - and this place is very memorable of that trip for me. It is pretty much have a look through the menu, make a decision and order at the counter. Easy squeezy - and service was friendly and pleasant.
The menu isn't huge but it does have enough on there to keep most folk interested with a range of burgers, dogs, waffles, bagels, salads and sides. We all went with burgers - the vego went with the Soho; the carnivore with The Bronx and with my love of all things blue cheese, I couldn't go past The Midtown. We shared a side of onion rings and sweet potato fries and washed it all down with a salted caramel shake for me and the kids shared an oreo shake.
Well wow! The other two both enjoyed their burgers - not a first for them - but me, truly enjoyed every bite of my delicious buffalo seasoned chicken with blue cheese sauce burger. Just the right amount of buff seasoning to make my chicken breast sing with flavour and Ohhhhh that blue cheese sauce - yummmmmm. I also have to say the sweet potatoe fries were the best I've ever had - really crunchy and crispy (which more often than not sweet potato fries just ain't) and the onion rings were also deliciously crunchy and seriously moreish.
Then to those shakes - again I'm not a shake kinda girl - usually just too heavy for me. But I'm super pleased I went against type for this - the salted caramel was totally delicious, with plenty of salty caramel flavouring ... then there was the oreo shake - which I couldn't resist trying - actually just for review purposes I had to try it about three times to be sure ... it was damned fine!
So in all really good - much more so than I was expecting - and I will definately be returning, for that burger alone but also a breakfast is definately in order - I NEED to try those waffles. Great job NBK - you have a convert!
Best experience I've had in a long time. With their American style atmosphere and amazing mouth watering burgers and sides, it's definitely a must to wash it down with a chocolate milkshake or even American style soda
Central Park burger was delicious, the wagyu special not so much. Good service, but the pace lacked atmosphere even on a Friday night. Maybe take away will be an option next time, I would return.
Pretty exited to find another burger place that that offers Gluten free buns, and then I discovered that they also have gluten free Bagels and hot dog buns as well! Fun little diner, interesting menu, the prices aren't too bad considering the size and quality. Hershey's milkshake was amazing! I had the pulled pork burger and sweet potato fries. Fries were delicious and the burger was tasty and had loads of filling with just a little bit of spice. The only downside was that they seemed a little understaffed for a busy Sunday lunch time and we had to wait quite a while for our take away, the milkshakes were also ready about 10 mins before the burgers so I had to stand there holding them while they got warm, but I we were dining in it wouldn't have been such an issue. Will definitely be back!
I eat here frequently, the staff are always friendly and helpful, great coffee, and delicious meals! My favourite is definitely the Jnr Bronx, very yummy. Love the atmosphere- the music is great, and such a bright setting. Only criticism is that every time I eat there I can't help but hear the life stories of the employees talking to each other in the kitchen. But overall- love this place :)
Fresh food & authentic taste!. We went to NKB Express after seeing the student deal of $15 for a meal & a beer/shake (with any valid student card). There's a fair bit of choice with burgers, hotdogs, bagels, waffles, alcoholic/non-alcoholic drinks and of course some delicious looking waffles. I got the Greenwich burger (chicken, avocado, corn salsa, chipotle mayo & cos lettuce) with a Oreo shake (10/10 deliciousness) and a side of onion rings. Everything about my meal was delicious & fresh. The only thing I can really fault is the prices. While it worked out relatively cheaper for us with our student deal - given the size of the burgers, $12 is a bit much. Even bagels are $12. And while the side were AMAZING, $5 for s small box of fries or onion rings was a bit too much. Otherwise a super delicious meal, great service and cute restaurant!
Like like like! Pulled pork burger and onion rings - yummo! The prices are v reasonable. Service was fine. Not sure about the Beatles playlist. Whatever. Sauce in my burger was v messy but if it tastes that good who cares? Will be going back soon to try other delicious sounding things that I couldn't fit in this time around.
Awesome food, friendly staff, great environment and an overall success!. Really enjoyed my time at nkb express! It was a fun, different way of dining which really made me excited as their is nothing else like it around the indooroopilly area 10/10
Gorgeous venue, amazing food!. I've been waiting in anticipation for this venue to open, and couldn't be more blown away by it!
The food is incredibly well priced - only $12 for a huge gourmet charcoal burger. Portion sizes are great, flavour is amazing and the choice is fantastic. The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous and very well decorated.
Love it, and will definitely be back for breakfast, lunch and dinner!
The American themed dinner has had tasty food for a great price for years now. The ambience is fun for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
What a treat to get tasty, fresh waffles.
Indoor and outdoor seating.
Discover the place recently and very happy with it!
Located on a very busy street next to the Indooroopilly train station. Does not look fancy outside, but internal decoration is great.
Food is fantastic! Great burgers and awesome sweet potato chips!!!
Tempted to try waffles but was so full. Might give it a try next time.
Definitely worth the visit!
An underrated eatery! Buffalo wings & chili cheese fries were amazing. Some of the best buffalo wings i’ve had. A nice kick without being too spicy. Will definitely eat again.
Great American diner feel and atmosphere as mentioned by another reviewer. We had the central park burger, new York Yankee hot dog, chilli fries and salted caramel shake.
The burger and shake were pretty good. But I was quite disappointed with the chilli fries and hot dog. Maybe I don't know how to appreciate hot dogs, but I thought the sauerkraut was too overpowering. Did not even taste the kransky, cheese and bacon.
Chilli fries was a bit bland too, not the usual chilli fries that I've had.

I went here while my partner was having his guitar lessons.
The food was okay - the eggs and bacon were overcooked but I still enjoyed it. Coffee was really good though.
It's like coming back in time, with their chill colored upholstery, music from years back and decor. I'm sure I'll be back for more, and I might just request for the cook to go easy on the bacon and eggs. 😂
Cost for a coffee and an all day breakfasts with no buns is around $20.
This food tastes great and they were very helpful creating a veggie option for my daughter. So friendly. Coffee was good too.
Pretty decent food they have here, I tried one of their breakfast bagels and waffles.
Quality was pretty good, the customer service was really good.
I enjoyed what I had for breakfast, might come later sometime to try burger & hotdog.
Good music , music, service and food. Love the milkshakes and wedges. Easy place to catch-up with the family. We’ve been coming here for years.
