What can I say, I love this place... it is hard to find somewhere that cooks seafood to perfection and has great deserts. This is a perfect family place and we just had a lovely time. I highly recommend this place to anyone that just wants a casual night out and eat some amazing food :D
This place is the best. The food is delicious and portion sizes are bloody good. The variety of seafood dishes that you get is great as there us something for everyone. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable, approachable and accommodating.
Aaaand they make their own ice cream!! Soo many flavours :)
If you want fast and attentive service, with delicious food and a happy ambience, A Fish Called Inglewood is the place to go.
We will definitely be back!!
I had the Barramundi last night with the red cabbage, potatoes, leek and bacon. It was so good. An absolute winner in my view. Very yummy and will definitely like to have it again next time.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Will definately recommend to family and friends.
It was lovely to be able to have delicious gluten free fish & chips for the first time. The whole family could enjoy it together. Well worth the visit as we don't live local. Look forward to the next time!!!
Wonderful food. My favourite place in town for seafood.
Beautiful fresh tasty seafood. Have been several times now and have never been disappointed. Lovely staff too.
I love being able to have GF fish and chips. So worth the 20min drive.
Best fish and chips I've ever had. My partner who isn't even gluten free agrees. We will be back..!!!
Delicious food & great value, prompt & friendly service, definitely be back.
Best Fish and Chips in Perth! The WA snapper is delicate and tasty, and the NZ hoki is sweet, firm and flakey and great VFM! Yum chippies. And homemade tartar sauce. Delish! I haven't dined in yet... on the cards though!
Great service, amazing menu and delicious food! Pram friendly. Coeliac super-friendly. We'll definitely be back!
Awesome food, great service, excellent value for money.
Very few places that you can get all 3 but this one ticks all the boxes.
Will be back for sure!!!
Loved our experience here on a Saturday night. The meals were tasty - loved the contemporary take on fish and chips. The salads and sides were delicious, and the icecream desserts were a lovely way to finish. Wait staff were friendly and attentive. Love this quaint little place with mood lighting and music to top it off. Will definitely be back!
Service is great and food is cooked well but not worth the price, $25 for a small piece of grilled fish and chips was just half a meal for myself
Had dinner here tonight, best fish I've ever had! Grilled cod that was perfectly cooked with chips and Brussel sprout salad, with bacon and maple dressing - so goooood! My boyfriend had the seafood plate, it was massive and had everything you want on it! Service was fast, friendly and efficient. Was great night :) thank you :) will definitely be back!
Totally love this place! Best and freshest fish and chips in town. A bit disappointed they don't make their own chips anymore but they're still perfectly cooked. The only negative is the fact the kitchen is open, which is fine, but will someone please give the woman with short grey hair a pair of gloves or tongs and an apron? The whole time I was there she touched all the food she was playing up with her hands which were covered in jewelry, she wiped them on her clothes, played with her hair, ran her hands across her face and mouth and played on her phone! Not once did I see her wash her hands. After seeing her toss my salad with these hands I just couldn't eat it! If you have an open kitchen people your hygiene must be impeccable!
Lovely food, it is expensive as many people have said but the portions are large and the ingredients fresh and high-quality. Our group of 4 had the barramundi, chowder, platter for 1, fish cakes, octopus and onion rings with three ice creams to follow and we were all satisfied. The barramundi had a great crispy skin, and though the dish was tasty I was bemused to find that the 'onion fritters' stated on the menu were exactly the same as the onion rings we got as a side, I was expecting more of an onion bhaji style fritter. The platter had a lot of variety, I have had better chowder and fish cakes, though they were good. The ice creams are lovely but expensive at $8 each, I like the fact that they are homemade yet they simply come on a stick with no presentation factor. The waiters seemed quite inexperienced and didn't have many of the skills and personality that you would expect from a restaurant with such high prices.
The chowder was very nice. The Cagliari was also extremely fresh and nice. Desserts are good if you like homemade ice cream. Service was very good.
Great place which one completely underestimates from the outside therefore the more you'll be positively surprised as it's not just a simple fish and chips place but quite a sophisticated seafood restaurant. The menu changes seasonally so you'll always get the best at the time. The meals are filling but still light. A while ago I craved badly for fish and seafood for which I found satisfaction there. Had a great time with my boyfriend and we would come back anytime!
Really yummy gluten free fish and chips. Everything was really fresh, cooked well and well presented even for takeaway. Generous serves, will be making this one a regular!
The menu is seasonal and light, with a revolving and ever changing menu of seafood dishes. You can be assured of finding something to please as a main, but their substantial sides and salads are light and delightful to share. They also do your traditional fish and chips, but it's a dining establishment, not a run of the mill takeaway joint, and prices reasonably reflect that. The sweets are worth staying for, and my partner loved the peanut butter icecream and raspberry tart. The chef admitted graciously that his wife makes the creamy concoctions, with a range of interesting flavours.
This place is awesome. Really good quality food in a relaxed funky spot. It's not your average fish n chip store so don't expect it to be like the greasy cardboard fish in gluggy batter with lifeless frozen chips you can get for $10 from your local store. Ive read people complaining about price, 1st off we are in Perth- this town is outrageously expensive but for all intensive purposes this is a casual seafood restaurant not a greasy fish n chip store so it's on the pricier side but I dont think it's too bad & worth it for the quality of food. The flavours are delicious, the seafood is fresh, the batter is light & crispy & the chips are hand cut which is rare these days. This is a really nice treat for those who appreciate good food & love seafood. The platter (pictured) is great & has a wide variety of seafood & can be shared by 2, my brother ordered the lobster linguine which was absolutely delicious & a massive serve- he ended up giving half to our Sicilian father as he couldn't get through it all. Dad absolutely loved it! The Asian salad is my stand out favorite but the homemade tartare also deserves a shout out yummo! Do yourself a favor & treat yourself.
A great little no-frills restaurant with delicious food. The portions are large and good value. The Asian Salad is beautiful - fresh and tasty and really a meal in itself. The fish is always cooked perfectly, in my experience. There are expensive meals on the menu (but they are worth it) or you can choose the cheaper options and still get a decent-sized meal. The only down-side is that they don't do tea and coffee, so you can't stay for after-dinner cuppa, but that's a small complaint. They are a fish and chip shop, after all! One of my fave places to eat.
Great seafood platter, quality and value for money! Fish, calamari, oysters and lobster all fresh with hand cut chips!!!
Only thing is I would've liked the chips crispier and the salad dressing for the seafood platter on the side as it did drench the fish cake. But amazing food. Thank you "A Fish Called Inglewood" restored my faith in the seafood platter.
Best Fish and Chips in Perth! The WA snapper is delicate and tasty, and the NZ hoki is sweet, firm and flakey and great VFM! Yum chippies. And homemade tartar sauce. Delish! I haven't dined in yet... on the cards though!
This place has it all....GF seafood, it's local and fresh fish is great. I took my children and grandparents. Value for money is amazing for a seafood place. They make great ice creams too. I'll be back for their take away seafood platter next week.
Ate in and had great meals and service. Seafood plate for one was huge. Fish cake was very tasty. Waffles were delicious. We will be back again!!
Recommended by a friend as they have a gluten free option and I am in the process of testing myself for wheat sensitivity. The price of the WA schnapper seemed a bit steep but it was worth every dollar. Beautifully cooked and a thick, generous portion. I especially liked the tartare sauce which appeared to be made in-house, such a change to the standard commercial stuff. Well worth a visit.
*Had a cod and chips for dinner last night (6/12) but apparently received the full wheat batter even though I asked for gluten free. Had an awful night of bloating and sleeplessness, and then had to go to work this morning...not happy.
Gluten free battered fish and chips, what a treat. Well presented in a cardboard box so they don't go soggy and served with lemon and tartare sauce. Delicious. Thank you!
Just had take away from here.
Easily the best Fish and Chips in the area.
Plenty of fresh salad and perfectly cooked salmon.
Great healthy choice. Will be visiting regularly.
Enjoyed our meal with friends on the weekend, the service was excellent and our fish and chips really very nice, cider batter on my fish was thin and crispy and everyone happy with their choice of fish.
Ice cream / Gelato to die for.
Extremely disappointed with $4 per person corkage for one bottle of wine adding $16 to our $10 "fish and chip" bottle of wine and consequently came away feeling ripped off and won't return.
This family run fish cafe in Inglewood is a fairly casual friendly affair. Sitting at a long table right next to the bustling open kitchen, my friends and I had a birds eye perspective on the goings on, and the takeaways were flying out the door on this Friday night. The menu changes daily according to produce availability, with a few staples such as fish and chips being a permanent feature. Having eyed off a few plates of fish and chips coming out, I had eyes for nothing else. My cider battered fish, reasonably priced at $25, was a fresh piece of WA snapper served with hand-cut chips and aioli. This generous serve of fish featured a crispy gluten-free batter, and beautifully crunchy chips. It’s the basic things that matter in simple dishes like this: good quality oil, salt and potatoes.
Great fish and chips! Love the decor and friendly staff. HOWEVER not that accommodating for dine in customers who would like to order something from the takeaway menu. Also it's quite pricy for fish and chips. Two adults ordering an entree and main each cost us over $80! But the food was spectacular!!!!
Found this lovely gem a few months ago and have been back a fair few times, always a good meal and great friendly staff and service.
The battered dory or snapper is super, not greasy at all. The hand cut chips are absolutely super go a long way to beat them. The portions are very generous and extremely well priced.
The homemade ice creams are delicious.
All in all, a lovely evening and certainly will continue to support them.
Great food!
Had the $15 cider battered dory and chips the portion was huge definitely couldn't finish it all. Also had a salted cod pappardelle which was yum but also too big to finish. We had a lovely squid with papaya salad although there wasn't much papaya mainly other veg.
We got house made pickled veg but overpowered by the cardamon. Mushy pees were great!
We ordered too much!
Icecream are a good idea . Nice family style place and menu changes daily
This place is amazing!! If I lived closer I would go here all the time. We shared the seafood platter which was delicious, all the seafood was super fresh and cooked to perfection, and for dessert I had the chocolate brownie with home-made rhubarb ice cream. Hands down the best brownie I have ever eaten. The staff were all friendly and attentive, I can't fault a single thing.
We had your fish and chips - it was good fresh fish for $15.
Another separate occasion we went a little gourmet and had your seafood hotpot, your octopus salad and whitebait. All three dishes were good too and seafood was cooked well.
The pop-tails are very adorable but at $15 we found the price a little steep for a small glass (yes, I understand it takes a lot of time to put quality juice into a pop-sicle but at least give us a bigger glass or something... ?) Just a gripe but we certainly enjoyed it together with the food.
All in all, it was quality and we are returning.
Best Fish n Chips in town - and don't get us started on the icecream!. Had a fabulous dinner with a friend and two kids - the menu is great, lots of choice other than just fish and chips. We had the snapper (fabulous) with great homemade chips and aioli along with a thai salad - all hit the mark. Kids menu has some great options. Only problem was leaving enough space for the homemade icecream! If you are looking for a great dinner in Inglewood give this one a try - and they are licensed now too!
Solo Diner. Was curious to try. It has just started opening for lunch on Fridays and Saturdays, so opted for Friday lunch. Fish and chips usually conjures up dry or soggy battered cheap range of fish plonked on tasteless chips. Not the case here. The batter light and tasty, fish cooked to perfection and chips divine! The cafe is spotlessly clean and no fishy smell. Being solo female diner who likes a glass of wine or two with her meal, it ticked all the boxes. I had taken my own wine but found out liquor licence has just been granted. Given the standard the owner has set, I am sure the selection will satisfy. Refreshing to find place with good food, friendly service and reasonably priced.
Awesome place, we eat here atleast once a week, staff are amazing, food delicious and great price. The Morton Bay bugs are my all time fave and the kids love the chips :) best restaurant in Perth, highly recommend 10 out of 10!!
Best fish ever!. Have just eaten at this neighbourhood gem for the first time. The crispy skin barramundi was unbelievably moist and melted like butter in my mouth. Never had fish so fresh in all my life!
We also had Brussels sprout salad, amazing flavours. Finished off with the peanut butter icecream. Great meal. Will be back!
Outstanding! Exceeded ALL expectations- believe the hype!!! The ingredients were so fresh & each dish was better than the last. We started with the chili crab which was divine! For our mains my partner had the monkfish and I had mind blowing linguini! We shared the chips and the brussel sprout salad- who knew brussel sprouts could taste that great? Our experience was perfected by our server Chris- who was genuine, enthusiastic and very hospitable. We can't wait to come back for the other dishes & next time we will save room for dessert! Thank you Chef & Chris!
Love Love Love it!. Fantastic little eatery serving the BEST fish and chips I have ever had. The fish was battered beautifully and the chips were crisp, hot and delicious. I must point out the peanut butter homemade ice-cream is unbelievably gorgeous. I am a peanut butter ice-cream fan and it was heaven. Would highly recommend this place. Just superb!
Suburban chic. Decent, honest, tasty and affordable food run by lovely people. I hope they do very well
Our new local 'go-to!' Excellent service and food and very reasonable prices. Both meals were delicious - the Barramundi was beautifully cooked. The menu changes daily so you will never get bored and will be guaranteed fresh, local produce cooked to perfection. Great choice of unique, home made ice creams for dessert as well! Love the open kitchen and you can tell everyone who works there has a genuine love for good food. A Fish Called Inglewood has a relaxed, casual vibe, it's BYO and we will definitely be going back!
Quality of the food is up there with some of the best seafood ive had in perth. The home made ice cream flavours are yum!
Well worth the wait. The 'coming soon' sign seemed to be up for ages but finally the day came, boy was it worth the wait! Great, friendly service. The food cannot be faulted, always so fresh and always delicious. The best chips I've had anywhere and icecreams that are sometimes a bit out there (beer & pretzels!) but sensational. Like another reviewer part of me wants to give it a bad review to keep it a little bit quieter, but I think I've missed the boat anyway, the word is out. 10/10
Affordable Gourmet Food With A Smile. Make sure you check out the range of salads beautiful little compliment to every dish if your complaining about size cough up 6.50$ for a fresh salad to extend your eating experience.
The chef obviously has years of experience and the menu items used l daily such a great eating experience 9/10. Ice Creams Are 2 DF
"DHU"el in the crown. I am a little conflicted writing this, as with all things popularity will make it harder to get in and may increase prices...... However, I can't be selfish, news of this little goldmine needs to be shared.
Paul Zammit has a huge pedigree and just loves to cook which is great as I love to eat.
He used to own and run the Twisted Fork in my manor, I now have to drive all the way to Inglewood - a bit selfish really but well worth the trip! We're hooked!
Dr Phil
A Fish Called Delicious!. Love, love, love this place - Went last night for dinner with a group of girlfriends. We shared the calamari (yummy salsa), tuna croquettes (huge and delicious) and crab stuffed zucchini flowers (my favourite) - they were all AMAZING! I had the paella which was lovely and more than enough for 2 (after the entrees) and others at the table had the swordfish with a tasty, fresh salad of mint, shallots, peanuts, etc and the snapper with eggplant relish (YUM!) and onion rings. Most interesting part of the meal was dessert. At first I thought it was a bit limiting only having home made icecream sticks but the variation of flavours is mind-blowing (peanut butter, tiramisu and mascarpone, peppermint crunch, berry and white choc, the list goes on! We shared a few amongst the table (peppermint and tiramisu) and both got many a pleasurable groan from the table. I will definitely be back!
Amazing seafood. We had dinner here tonight and can not describe how wonderful the food was. We had an entrée each, calamari and a crab dish both so delicious and tasty. Then we both had the barramundi fish, this absolutely mouth watering, every flavour complimented each other. Kids fish and chips was enjoyed and demolished :-).
Then dessert ice cream, candy surprise was to die for (as my daughter put it) a beautiful ending to a spectacular meal.
Overall, can't wait to go again. Wonderful and friendly staff, very kid friendly environment.
A great option. The menu seems to change very regularly, keeping up with what is fresh at the time. I had a seared tuna steak which was incredible. Tried the calamari at the table which was tender and very delicately battered, just lovely. The smoky eggplant dip was a little too smoky but worked well as a sauce for the delicious handcut chips. Service was great, the place is nicely furnished, reasonable prices for the standard of food. We'll be going back.
Vegetarians note, there are some options but you may have to order two entrees to get a decent meal. There was no vegetarian main when we went.
I love this place. This little gem is offering a changing seafood menu of restaurant quality dishes where almost all dishes on my menu were under $25! Hand cut chips are to die for and I'm happy to Pay $15 for the amazing cider batter that I was told has a special secret of its own. Love love love this fresh seafood concept.
Home-Made Ice-Cream Stick. Drunken Cherry, dark choc, coconut
Great place so close to home. Beautiful quality at a good price. Still settling in for timing but service amazing. Quality food too. Drunken cherry icecream is going to bring me back over and over again. Also very coeliac considerate. We will be regulars here and good to see another fabulous restaurant in Inglewod.
Located right near Miss Kitty’s Saloon and Sugar and Nice, it is a relatively small but bustling venue. We arrived only to secure their last table, its BYO with a bottle shop located conveniently across the road. We are given our menus, which change daily depending on the seafood they have managed to source that day. Sadly the seafood tasting plate has all ran out, and the waiter explains they didn’t expect to be as busy as they are. We decide to settle on some shucked fresh oysters to begin. They are so fresh, paired with a tangy vinaigrette which really makes them sing. I have always loved oysters when they have that trace of the ocean and these are exactly what I wanted.
The corn croquettes are easily some of the best croquettes I've ever had - and I could have happily munched my way through a dozen of them. The seafood is so fresh, and it keeps you coming back more and more.
As soon as I had heard that Chef Paul Zammit had opened a new restaurant I couldn’t wait to get there. When I found out that it was opening so close to home I literally couldn’t believe my luck! I had the chance to try Chef Paul’s food at two of his previous venues – Llama Bar and then when he headed up the kitchen at Mosmans Resaturant . And now he and his wife Jaycinta have moved to Beaufort Street and opened up a new venue. Imagine a local fish and chip shop with a five star flourish. Ladies and gentleman welcome to A Fish Called Inglewood. Situated just off the corner of Ninth Avenue and Beaufort Street, it is a very welcoming space with a hugely artistic colourful fish painted along the main wall. There’s a quirky selection of light fixtures and also a collection of additional artwork which showcases the work of kiddly winks who have coloured in their own versions of the resident fish. It’s BYO so bring along your favourite bottle of wine or a few beers, or head over to Devine Cellars which is right across the road. Now onto the menu. Let me tell you what impresses me about a menu. It doesn’t need to be miles long, keep things short and sharp and change it up whenever possible. I quite like a simple printed paper menu because it means it changes daily and is driven by the best available produce of the day. It keeps things fresh and interesting and that is a huge win for diners and probably makes things exciting in the kitchen too! And look I don’t profess to be any sort of menu expert, I say this merely as an enthusiastic diner about town. So while there is variance from day to day, you can always order your standard fish and chips but calling them ‘standard’ doesn’t do them justice. There is a secret house made batter that those with coeliac will be happy to know is gluten free and I can assure you it is top notch. As are the chips. Served chunky and well-seasoned, they are the kind that even when you know you have no room left you just keep reaching for anot
Offers patrons a casual restaurant serving an array of different seafood dishes at affordable prices with friendly service. I had a lovely entree of crab & corn croquettes and perfectly cooked salmon for mains. Then enjoyed their home made ice cream.
Finally, a place where the food lives up to its reviews. The menu is quite simple, you choose your meat (either fish, prawns and one more I can't recall) and 1 or 2 sides. You can choose the type of fish you want and the cooking method, grilled or cider battered.
We had one grilled and one cider battered. Not much taste to the grilled one, the battered one was good, flaky fish and an even crunch all over.
I enjoyed my smashed peas very very much. The seasoning made it so tasty I have never mentioned this about peas in my life. Onion rings were alright. They give a nice portion size of everything though. Fills up the plates so you feel like you're getting your money's worth.
The ice cream is a definite must-try. Rich flavour, very creamy, unique combinations and cute shapes of the popsicle. I had the choc with popping candy. Wonderful last meal to our trip here in Perth. Highly recommended!
Very good value for money, crayfish and calimari was decent, Morton bay bug was disappointing, but scallops were good and mussels excellent. Sides were well sized and tasty as well. Will definitely return.
impressive seafood platter and interesting menu options (lots of salads, pho + fish and chips!?). nice place, will be back to try some other things
I love the fish and chips here! The chips are nice, golden brown on the outside, nice and fluffy on the inside. As for the fish, although deep fried, it isn't excessively greasy. Highly recommend. If you like your wine, you might want to try the red wine icecream! Oh and the staff are the best!
One of the Best Fish & Chips / Seafood Restaurants in town. Love it every time, every meal is great. I trust them to make me perfectly cooked meals too - which is an absolute must for anyone preparing seafood.
Also tried the tasty made-on-site desserts - does not disappoint!
Also accepts bookings via Facebook Messenger! That's nice/different. Check it out if you love Seafood / Fish & Chips!
Great battered Hoki and chips, excellent beer list, awesome salads and the onion rings as a side for the chips is excellent. Inside feels really nice and you get great service, however still feels like a local fish and chip place. Since finding this joint we don't get fish and chips from anywhere else. Thoroughly recommend.
