Excellent Japanese restaurant in Invy. We had miso soup - delicious salty weedy goodness, tempura - very good - I would prefer just asparagus/beans/sweet potato and prawns not potato and capsicum. We had large shashimi and sushi platter - all very well made and presented- seafood terrific probably straight off the boat. We had pork belly along the way - deliciously baked in the oven, tiny bite size morsels to share. Dessert we tried a crepe with japanese citrus icecream (yuzu) and also Harmony - a mix of icecreams and fruits - the latter was probably too large - would prefer a smaller serve and a nice presentation eg: on a nice black plate rather than parfait glass. Finally decor just needs a bit of work - suggestions from me - remove western art work and promos - stick to Japanese / dress waiters in some kind of traditional garb and set some light Japanese music. Do away with attempts to sell add ons and peripheral stuff. Stay 🇯🇵. Great place - bookings essential $50
minimum. Will be back.
You would think that given they have cornered the market for Japanese cuisine in Inverloch that they could afford to take their foot off the gas pedal at Tomo’s, but the opposite couldn’t be more true. We were staying in Inverloch to celebrate a special occasion, and decided the occasion deserved Japanese, hence the dining experience at Tomo’s. We were very pleasantly surprised. In particular the soft shelled crab rolls were outstanding. So delicious. We also loved the fresh sashimi and miso duck. Not to mention the service was prompt and polite. Absolutely fabulous. I would definitely recommend this place and will be returning the next time we’re in the area.
Service was lovely. The food was fresh and piping hot but agree with other reviews that the food is a little on the salty side but we didn’t mind as we enjoyed the food with white rice. It’s very busy so make sure to book before coming (we only got a spot because of someone else’s cancelation). Came with the family. Maximum table sizes were 4
Ours was a five star experience. We loved our dishes. We loved the atmosphere. We loved the friendly service. We’d love to return in the future. Highly recommended.
A small and cozy place in Inverloch. The place seems to be quite popular during the high season, a booking is certainly recommended - especially if you plan to come with >4 people. The food is great, the service very professional and friendly, Japanese beer is served (bottled Asahi and Sapporo on tap), you can also get Sake. The prices are a little bit on the higher side, I suggest simply because due to the relative small size and dependency on the high season's guests that is acceptable for the good quality we received.
Amazing experience.
We went to Tomo and we’re unsure what to order, because there was so much choice in the menu!
In the end, we simply decided to ask the chef to bring out their own selection of dishes.
Tomo sure didn’t fail to impress.
They brought out just the right amount of food for us; satisfying us up without forcing us to pay huge amounts at the end of our stay.
The beef dish that was brought out to us at the very end was certainly a highlight, as it was one of the most tender cooked pieces of meat I have ever tasted.
Also worth mentioning the outstanding customer service.
Thank you so much Tomo!
Good food, some interesting food and drink items on the menu, yuzu semi fredo also very nice. Booking in advance is essential!
2020 - Went to celebrate hubby’s birthday. Excellent food and service. Have already booked again for his next birthday :-D
2021 - Came back again for hubby’s birthday again. The mixed sushi and sashimi is amazing, loved the fresh seaweed salad that came with it. The yuzu panna cotta is a delicious way to end the meal. Staff were lovely as usual. See you guys next year :-p
