Absolutely loved the experience and will be back. We tried both the autumn and summer tasting platters.. amazing and mind blowing. Garlic ice cream, Thyme ice cream, bacon and salted caramel ice cream, lavender ice cream, coffee and cardamon.. all tasted lovely with crisp and clean flavours. Can’t wait to try the winter tasting platter. We will be back considering it is in our hood. Ben Ungermann and his brother are charming and their passion for creating an enjoyable experience is contagious. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone.
I visited for the first time last night. Pleasant, clean atmosphere. Love the retro vibe! Courteous, attentive staff. Absolutely delicious ice cream! I enjoyed a tasting plate - 'Autumn' I think, from memory...I was initially hesitant about the garlic ice cream, however the young man attending to us offered me a tasting spoon. I was pleasantly surprised! So I ordered my dessert consisting of 3 ice cream scoops; salted caramel, bacon and pecan....roasted garlic, honeycomb, honey drizzle....coffee and cardamon...garnished with coffee mousse...after dinner mint...marshmallow brûlée. The young lady who presented us with our plates was very pleasant and professional in explaining our dishes. I was keen to experience the salted caramel and bacon. I love bacon and wondered how it would be in ice cream. Taste sensation!! Well done. I'll be back to try some of the other intriguing flavours!!
A delightful ice-cream shop located in the heart of Ipswich Town within the grounds of the former technical college.
Be ready to try some absurd sounding however delicious ice-ecreams. With runner up Master Chef winner and brother Danny and Ben using fresh and local ingredients to create and a delightful taste to the palette.
The abundance of flavours both modern spins on otherwise unthought of ice-cream ingredients to classic favours you will definitely be leaving feeling satisfied and coming back for more.
We had the Summer Tasting Plate and at $22 we were left full just on ice-cream. It had an assortment of Lavender and Honeycomb, Lemon Honey and Thyme and Pumpkin Seed Oil Ice-cream combined with a Chocolate Mandarin filled Cannoli. The three are ample for two people are these contrasting flavours and just what’s needed after dinner.
Cannot recommend this place enough!
Great service, the staff were so friendly and the ice cream was to die for.. had an autumn and spring tasting plate and would have had a winter if it was available... loved it

Sweet God's of food! My partner surprised me with a stop here on our way home tonight. My tastebuds and tummy have never been happier! We tried the summer tasting plate which OMG, where to start?! the delightful lavender and honeycomb icecream on crushed honey comb (my absolute favourite); lemon, honey and thyme icecream on crushed Dutch shortbread (my partner's favourite) ; pumpkin seed oil and vanilla on crumbled pumpkin seeds with cream cheese dots (my second favourite); triple chocolate cannoli (absolutely decadent!) and a chocolate mint (which I didn't eat because I whole heartedly discriminate against mint). Staff were absolutely lovely, such great service, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere there. Loved it!
My boys and I got the summer and autumn tasting platter both were amazing and the unique flavours were enjoyable. My eldest boy loved the Garlic and honeycomb and my youngest son loved the pumpkin seed. Whilst I enjoyed all of them I couldn’t pick a winner. Definitely will be back to visit to try some more flavours.
Loved the vibe of a beautifully presented ice cream parlour.
It was such a refreshing environment from the usual ice cream shop. I loved the unique flavors, I honestly couldn't choose a favorite from the summer platter, they were all amazing. The service was really nice too, friendly and very helpful. A perfect place to enjoy quality ice cream. So glad you guys chose to open in Ipswich. I will be coming back again.
First time visit and loved the retro style plus the Autumn tasting platter was amazing! Fav was definitely the garlic ice cream on a bed of honeycomb
I had lavender ice cream it was yum ,,,and such a cute little shop ,,,will definitely be back
Tried Autumn tasting platter. Yummo. Loved the garlic and honeycomb combo. Will be back!
The most unusual combination of flavours you can imagine ( or you cannot ever imagine!). Brisbane/GC dwellers... this is worth traveling to the ‘Switch for.
Blue Cheese & Fig Ice-Cream. I broke my diet for this and it was worth it! Subtle but noticeable blue cheese flavour, actually creamy ice-cream, tasteable fig-bits and just the right amount of sweet, but not saccharine like most sweets these days. Couldn't fault it (and I'm a bit picky about food. Don't use the superlatives lightly.) Can't wait to try more flavours.
I stopped watching Masterchef after about season 3, so really had not much of a clue about this Ben Ungermann guy from season 9 who went on to open an ice cream shop in Ipswich, except there was a bit of a buzz around it and almost 2 years later I finally get there for a gander and a taste.
We had 2 single scoops:
* Lavender and honeycomb - wifey’s pick; I didn't really like it... maybe a bit of an acquired taste.
* Strawberries and cream - the boy’s pick; very nice.
Both scoops were served in waffle cones, a great pairing to some smooth as ice cream. You do pay a premium for the gourmet though - $7 for a single and $10 double scoop, so it helped that we had a BOGOF voucher from the Entertainment Book. In terms of pricing alone, $7 is about what you’d pay at some other ice cream/gelato shops charge for a double scoop, though that’s not factoring in actual serving sizes/weights.
Love the venue/decor too, and getting a look see into the kitchen where the ice creams are made. Worth a visit if you’re in the area, or even to make a day trip of it - we spent a few hours at Queens Park and the Ipswich Nature Centre before coming here for a cool treat.
I wouldn’t mind trying some of their milkshakes and/or plated desserts next time, whenever that might be. Actually, given they’ve recently opened a second store at Marina Mirage, it might be that I’ll manage to get there before making a return visit to Ipswich!
Pro tip: don’t be like me and pay $1 for metered street parking on Limestone St. There’s actually a car park on the other side of the compound - enter via South St. Save that money for the ice cream!
Cute and unique place. Greeted by a lovely staff who was working hard to ensure everyone was served quickly. She had so much patience with people deciding which icecream to pick. There were some amazing unique flavours. My girls loved this place. I know if we are in the area again we will definately be back.
Finally tried ice cream from @ungermannbrothers we tried chocolate and orange, salted caramel with bacon, lavender with honeycomb, and lemon, honey, and thyme. I love the first two but not a fan of the later ones. I was joking how they tasted like hand lotion 😂 Also to be honest, the ice cream isn’t smooth enough in my opinion
Totally loved the place! This ice cream parlour has a strong vintage 50s, 60s vibe going on and it has really cute retro items such as old telephone, pin-up girls decorations, etc. The ice cream was pricey ($7/scoop and $10/double scoop), which leads me to high expectation. Tried the salted caramel, bacon, & pecan along with coffee, cardamom & liquor flavours. I was satisfied with the ice cream! The salted caramel was perfect, it had perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness. The bacon bits add the crunchiness. I also totally dig the coffee flavour, which had strong coffee and cardamom flavour. When combined with liquor, it also left a slight bitter taste in a good way. I also tried the Dutch spices and was surprised with the strong spices fragrance in my mouth, especially the cinnamon. Keen to try other flavours!
Sensational icecream and not your run of the mill flavours - this is a must visit.
A quirky little icecream shop, I was so intrigued to try Ungermann Brothers icecream after noting their interesting flavour combinations. You are able to have tasters which is great to help you decide on the perfect choice. I picked carrot cake and coffee with cardamom and liqueur. Absolutely bang on! Carrot cake was great, really tasted like cake batter - yum! I loved the coffee hit of my second choice and it's definitely one of the better coffee icecreams I've had in a long time. My husband chose fairybread - super buttery and yum, and the bacon, salted caramel and pecan. SO good! These guys really know their flavours. I'm glad it's on the Entertainment Card because it IS expensive but I must say, it's worth it and I'll be back soon to try some of the more obscure flavours while I'm feeling a bit more adventurous!

Absolutely worth every cent. Fell in love with the Dutch Spice and the lavender. Such beautiful and calming flavours. Each flavour was one to beat the other! This is a must try place
Amazing creation of flavours for beautifully creamy icecream and refreshingly smooth sorbets. the tatsing plate was a great experience and magical combination of flavours. Nothing like I have ever tried! Brought my nieces (6+9 years old) they loved it, fairy bread, so much they had a second serving in lemon lime and bitters sorbet for the road!
