Not sure what these critics are on about...i heard about Romano's through a friend and thought i'd give it a go...family and i ordered mains and a few pizzas...food was absolutely devine! You know...like your traditional family restaurant where you actually get food on your plate!!! So I've just found my 'GO TO' restaurant to get a good feed!!! Keep it up guys!
Absolutely love this place. Anytime I'm coming home from work late and don't want to cook, or if I just feel like a meal out with mates, always fantastic food and service
Lets be honest, you don’t go to Romano’s for fine dining. Having said that the food and price point are a winning combination for a casual dinner out or a take away pizza. I’ve been coming here since Johnny owned it in the early 1990’s. The decor has had a few facelifts over the years, but the smell as you walk past has remained a consistent feature in Ivanhoe.
romanos is an amazing family restaurant. the waitresses and all the workers are very friendly, every time I come in to romanos the food gets better and better. love going to romanos, and I love all the food that they make
beautiful pizza, old fashioned italian pizza, nice customer service and though the owner can come off as abit rude and abrupt, he is completely misinterpreted. He's a good person to have a laugh with and just to talk to. he treats his workers amazingly from what ive seen and he is very respectful, always trying to get you the best for the prices.
I had my daughter's Birthday family dinner here and i can honestly say it was the best experience ive had in a restaurant. The service was amazing and speedy. The waitresses were so polite and respectful and the food was just so fantastic it took me back to a time where good quality food was not a rarity in Melbourne. Thankyou so much to Romano's for exceeding my expectations and making my daughter's birthday dinner a spectacular event!!!
My lovely lady and I went here for dinner a few weeks back for a low-key anniversary celebration; her lasagne was substantial and full of flavour, my calamari was fresh and perfectly cooked, the service was efficient and friendly and the value for money was reasonable. The venue is adequate, welcoming enough without encouraging a comfortable, long stay.
While there are better Italian restaurants in Melbourne, for no frills Italian in the middle of Ivanhoe this place can't be beaten.
Went here just before closing time so I was a bit worried they might treat us a little bit differently since we would potentially be inconveniencing them but the staff were so friendly and kind. Pizza was absolutely fantastic and i'd definitely put it among the best pizzas I've had in Melbourne. The gourmet options were fantastic and while pricing is higher than the average place, the quality more than compensates for it. A worthy place to explore for pizza lovers both casual and diehard.
Ok before I ordered I actually read the online reviews. What I read told me to run a mile! What I ate told me to look for accommodation closer. It proves my theory that to many wingers have to much time on their hands. Food Excellent and if I review a restaurant I order the same thing! Service Fabulous, 2 young girls new I would suggest and did a Fabulous Job not to much contact and not to little. Chef cooked the fresh seafood perfectly from time of order to table less than 20 mins. I will definitely return and the less winers that show up the better
If ever we babysit little cousins, Bobo's diner up the street is the status quo. Not because Bobo's is a brilliant dining experience but because it's clean, quick and a child friendly menu. We decided to mix things up and try out Romano's and it more than lived up to the task. Think of Romano's as la porchetta's more attractive sister. Good service, well priced food, generous portions and a child friendly meal. Won't blow any socks off but definitely a good place to have local.
We had the best pizza tonight, thin crust and really well cooked just like we've had in Europe in the past, well worth it and the staff were really friendly,
Great pizza. I ordered a Mexican from Romanos, great pizza and the staff were all very friendly. I'll definitely be back
I've been coming to Romano's for a long while - it's a fun little place with a lovely atmosphere and excellent food. The restaurant and dining areas are clean, well-lit, and sometimes a little noisy in peak-hour but otherwise very nice to sit in. The food is always well-made, and I've never had an issue with it. Sometimes the pizzas can be a little heavy on the palate but it's Italian food and you know what you're going to get when you sit down.
The wine list is usually quite serviceable on the best of days but sometimes they feature an international red or something a little off the reservation which is special when it happens and enjoyable to take with one of the specials.
I'd thoroughly recommend it if you're ever in want of a nice dinner in. They do offer takeaway boxes as well so you can take your leftovers home and enjoy them later.
Pretty stock standard pizzas from a solid Italian restaurant. Some experiences have wavered - some pizzas were a little greasy and needed cutlery to get down, but they were always flavourful. It's hearty, simple food for a good price and it's not too assuming.
Also, importantly, they're happy to box up whatever you can't eat instore and let you have it later at home. That's an important plus. Would definitely recommend.
