Loved the buffet Christmas in July lunch today in Bistro 38,
I am gluten, Dairy and egg intolerant so I find it really hard to eat out,
The chef took me around the buffet showing me what I could eat and for dessert I was presented with a large plate of beautifully made raw slices and sliced fruits served with melted dark chocolate to dip my treats in to,
great staff and a lovely meal, We will definitely be booking up for the high tea soon.
I was lucky enough to be surprised with a high tea on Saturday at Joondalup Resort. we all loved the food, the service was great, and the choice of teas in your own tea pot was lovely. I couldn't recommend a high tea here highly enough. Thank you, you made my birthday extra special.
I stayed overnight with my Mum sharing a room with two queen size beds. We had a view over the lake and pool which was lovely. The resort is maintained really well. Dinner was fantastic- we had the tasting plate and sparkling wine. The service was great and friendly. We felt like we had had a real holiday away even though we were still in the metro area. The pool is a fantastic temperature and clean; the gardens are beautiful. Very relaxing mini break.
Myself and a group of friends had high tea here on saturday. I would highly recommend it . The staff were very friendly and welcoming the service was excellent as was the high tea.
Got married here on the 7 October 2007. Wonderful place. Well looked after. Everything we expected. We used the marquee by the pool for the function. Excellent venue.
Christmas lunch on Christmas Day at the bistro was fantastic enjoyed every minute, the food was amazing.....! well done to all the staff who had to work, you made it such a special day for everyone.
Even if golf is not your thing, Joondalup Resort is one of the best hotels in Perth and the gardens are world class.
They are hosts to community events including the Valentine’s Day free concert and (the reason I was there) the Milli Markets which showcase local crafts and produce.
I love the Sunday champagne lunch, I must say that Emma is my favourite waitress.
She is so friendly and also very helpful.

We decided to have the wife's birthday dinner at Bistro 38 as they had some deals on that are very good (2 for 1 cocktails and children eat free).
The food was delightful, I had the fish of the day, a very agreeable gold band snapper, it was presented and cooked very well. The children's meals were very good, decent portion size too. Everyone at the table had positive feedback on their meals, we all had a starter, the prawns were great as was that arancini balls, pate and calamari, steaks were very good, but I think the crackling on the pork belly was a bit chewy, other than that small issue, a fantastic evening.
The staff were very good and attentive. I would definately recommend Bistro 38, all together it was a nice dining experience.
The service tonight was faultless the ladies who waitressed for us were lovely. The food was very tasty and portions generous, at a very reasonable price too. We will visit again.

Delicious food, lovely setting, good value cocktails, friendly staff. I had a lovely evening at Bistro 38 at the Joondalup Resort on a Friday night with a big group of ten people. The buffet was amazing; I don’t know whether to compliment the seafood or the dessert buffet first! The dessert buffet was like being a kid in a candy shop with such a large variety of delicious choices. The salmon, prawns, mussels and oysters were fantastic and the carvery was also really tasty. The cocktails were $10 each, which is excellent value, and we thoroughly enjoyed the champagne cocktails (berry bliss?). We were sitting at a table outside near the pool and watched a pretty sunset over the pool and golf course gardens. A big thank-you to the really friendly and helpful staff, we had a great night.

Great surroundings but need to work on the food. Ordered Amelia Park Lamb with carrot and cumin mash. When it arrived it was cold and there was no mash to speak of.
I asked for mash and eventually was offered another meal. This was delivered with a side of mash but the lamb was so rare it was almost raw. I sent this back.
To the credit of the lady who was coordinating, she came back to me admitting it was way too rare and refunded the cost of the meal.

One of my best eating memories created at Bistro 38. A special occasion (my lovely wife's milestone birthday), was celebrated in style with a night at the Joondalup Resort, and a sumptuous dinner at Bistro 38. The tasting platter was made up of scallops, black pudding, tempura soft shell crab, grilled tiger prawn, peperonatta, and salt and pepper squid, with garlic aioli. It was a perfect start and set the bar high for the rest of the courses. Madam decided to have the squid entree as her main, along with some hand-cut fries and a plate of seasonal veges, which were both outstanding.
I opted for my usual favorite when it appears on any menu - the venison, and was not disappointed. Described as "Sumac crusted venison, almond milk, chick peas & carrots, juniper and chocolate jus", it was perfectly cooked and immaculately presented. At the risk of going into a "food coma", I tackled the Bombe Alaska, which was divine. A fine layer of chocolate sponge encased a lovely vanilla ice-cream, topped with warm meringue, with a side of red berry coulis.
With very accommodating service from our attentive dining staff (thanks Abbie), we'll certainly be heading back to this place to try more items from the menu!
Delicious lunch. My husband and I had lunch here the other day and it was lovely. Food was really tasty and the potions were very generous. I actually found my meal to be so filling that I could fit in dessert :(. We will definitely be back. The service also was really lovely.
Small serves - below average quality. Dont go to Bistro 38 if you are hungry. Head down to your Hungry Jacks or Maccas instead. Went there last night and ordered the Snapper, at $38.00 thought this would be a substantial meal with some additions. What came out blew me away!! A small piece of mushy Snapper (about the size of a twenty cig pack) sitting on two string beans with a teaspoon dob of mushy apple paste, Some other mini unidentifiable shreds of what appeared to be veggies.
Prior to our main meal orders we ordered garlic bread for six. What came out was a soggy pizza base, looked like a Coles frozen base and about as tasty. Not impressed overall.
That was it?? The chef who prepared this as a main meal should hand his badge in and go back to school.
Lovely surrounds. A perfect place if you simply need to dine in with lovely surrounds of nature to relax. They didn't have a big menu but I was still happy with my choices plus the service was great!
A nice surprise. Recently came here for the first time for dinner and was pleasantly surprised.

I recently shared a High Tea with some friends at Bistro 38. It was really, lovely! The service was friendly, our tea was constantly replaced, the food was plentiful and delicious. I'm definitely going back. What a lovely setting.
Very enjoyable. Went there for lunch date with my wife.As soon as we got there we were greeted by a friendly staff member. The service was top class.
My wife had the barramundi ( it was so thick ) which was cooked to perfection. Could have been more variety of vegetables though. I had the tempura battered red emperor (2 big pieces) and again it was cooked beautifully. Generous side of scrumptious chips and salad. A pleasant day and will not hesitate in going back again.
Party of 8 and we all really enjoyed out meals. Pork belly was delicious. Steak servings were huge & cooked well. All meals came out together which makes for a pleasant change! Side "winter veggies" very disappointing though.
Apple & rhubarb crumble was a winner. Dessert tasting plate was a bit disappointing - all a little tasteless, though pudding was nice.

Sunday Carvery - Fabulous. Went for the all you can eat Sunday carvery with free flowing champagne and a chocolate fountain. It is not cheap so best saved for a special ocassion but I definitely felt it was worth the money. The drivers and under 18's were offered juice and soft drinks at no extra charge and the selection of both savory and sweet food was fantastic. My only regret is that I wasn't starving hungry as I didn't manage to try everything. The staff were helpful and kept the champagne flutes topped up! We had a toddler with us and no one seemed to mind or make us feel bad about it. So although it is better for older children or adult parties young children are accommodated and there is plenty that they will like as well (who doesn't like roast potatoes and gravy!).
I loved Bistro 38, my family went for the Christmas Dinner buffet last year and had a great time. The food was beautiful, lots of delicious food to choose from, desserts were amazing as were the cocktails and a great family atmosphere. Would love to go again.
Excellent. Limited menu, but outstanding everytime. We have tried most "fine dining" restaurants around Perth, but for us, this place is the BEST

We've had a La Carte and the Buffet.
Could not fault the service or the quality of the food.

Lovely Restaurant, Lovely Food!. Went to Bistro 38 for the Buffet Breakfast and was very impressed! The restaurant itself is beautiful and very clean and overlooks the swimming pool and golf course which is really pretty. The buffet was enjoyable. We especially liked the eggs benedict and the pancakes which came with really sweet, delicious berries. There was a nice selection of hot food (scrambled eggs, eggs benedict, sausages, bacon, baked beans, grilled tomato's), pancakes, rolls, pastries (small selection - but enough), many cereals, fruit (quite nice selection but might have been nice to have something a little more exotic to choose from perhaps), nice selection of cold drinks and a hot drink dispenser that you help yourself to (hot chocolate, tea, coffee, cappucino, latte). We left there very satisfied. In fact if I'd had any more room left in my stomach I would so have loved to go back for another eggs benedict and pancakes. After our lovely breakfast we went out for a very pleasant walk around the pool and the golf course. Really lovely way to spend a morning and will definately be heading back there!

It was my birthday the other weekend and we decided to go somewhere ‘special’ for lunch as a family to celebrate. We choose to try out the Champagne, Carvery, Chocolate Buffet which takes place every Sunday from 12pm - 2pm at Bisto 38, Joondalup Resort. During the 2 hour window you can enjoy full access to the buffet, chocolate fountain and free flowing champagne! It sounded great! Our only problem … we were to be accompanied by Miss 4 and Miss 2 and we had no idea to whether it was child friendly! To prepare I packed a bag full with colouring books, pencils, playdough, an iPad - you name it; if I thought it would keep them entertained for more than a minute I packed it! Miss 2 is not known as a child who can stay still for more than a minute! When we arrived at the restaurant I was relieved to see more other young children out to lunch with their parents. We need not have worried about Bistro 38’s

It’s like the chef had consulted my stomach prior to designing this dessert, it was me down to a tee! A Gentle Goat Cheese Yorkshire Curd Tart with Cream & Rhubarb. I loved it! The caramelization on type of the tart was brilliant and it looked just so darn pretty! Between this and the petit fours, I knew I was going to be rolling out the door of the Joondalup Resort!
If you’re not familiar with Joondalup Resort you may think that Bistro 38 is just for hotel guests and golfers. Not true! Absolutely anybody can dine there and enjoy its relaxing holiday vibe.
Beautiful setting with the option to sit inside or out. We had both breakfast and dinner here.

We visited Alcove for the buffet breakfast. We were a large group of 10 people (adults and kids) and we all enjoyed the breakfast. The kids really enjoyed the fresh fruit and endless fruit juices.
The coffee was lovely and hot and plenty of variety. All the staff were super friendly and assisted when needed. We really enjoyed this family treat and look forward to visiting again.
Had an amazing lunch at The Alcove. Everything was superb both in flavour and presentation. Oysters, steak and chicken were standouts. Will definitely be back!

Been hearing positive reviews about the restaurant from people I know especially from the in laws as they've dined out from there before and been reading good comments in the Facebook page. So when the chance came to try out the restaurant, we took it and got very excited! It was a last minute plan and we were lucky to get a table. When we got there, we waited for a few minutes as it's quite full and our table isnt ready. But it did not bother us at all because we enjoyed catching up with our family friends in a waiting area where there is a bar and you could enjoy having drinks and chatting while having a seat. I gave it a 4/5 ratings. Nearly perfect apart from some teeny minor details. The restaurant has one of the best ambiance and perfect for any gathering or special occasions. It is warm and cosy inside and the staff are very friendly. I appreciate that they are kid friendly too. Our 4 years old came with us for dinner and they provided an activity paper with some coloring which my son enjoyed. When we ordered our foods , we didnt wait for a long time to be served. We ordered the sardines for entree with chorizo and it was splendid! Its tastes nice. I took only some pictures of our food but not all of it. My picture does not do any justice on how good the foods were. I have the seafood paella as I love anything seafood. It tastes absolutely yummy and serving size is good too. My husband and mother in law have the lamb and it's very tender. We got the BBQ Brussels sprout salad and I for one can't believe that I love how it taste together with the other things in the salad. You can taste the freshness of the veggies. Dessert was superb! We shared and match it with espresso Martini. They got the best espresso Martini. The only thing that makes me not give them a perfect rating is there's a hit and miss on some of the foods. Like my father in law ordered pork belly, and I find it a bit dry when he shared with us. Maybe if there's a sauce on the side that goes with it and maybe a bit of carb too as its paired with some veggie that some people doesnt like to eat one. Though I know the restaurant serves a Mediterranean Middle Eastern foods. One last thing too, when they served the dessert my mother in law and our family friend ordered the same which is a sticky date pudding however my MIL requested a gluten free option because she is gluten intolerant. However when we asked, the staff who served it didn't respond which is which. I would recommend to have the same person getting orders and serving it with to avoid any confusion next time. Overall , we have an unforgettable and wonderful dining experience at the restaurant. Highly recommend to everyone who wants to check the place out.
Seafood pasta at its finest...
Between my wife and I, we tried the gnocchi with Gorgonzola, prawns and Zucchini and the 'Nero' -squid ink taglione with fresh seafood and chilli, as recommended by the friendly waitress. Both of the dishes were faultless and I wouldn't have changed a thing on either dish.
It was clear that everything, including the pasta was made in house and that the chefs knew exactly what they were doing.
We look forward to coming back, and may even order the same two dishes!
The menu was quite limited, but the food was nice and tasty. Good atmosphere too. But the kids food was a bit of a letdown. The mini burger was really mini, would be good if it were a bit bigger. There were no meat in the pasta either . FYI, Optus reception (data) inside is quite bad. But free wifi is available.
A great night was had by all!
Venue, service and food and atmosphere were exceptional and delivered to a party of seven. I highly recommend The Alcove as the place for a great dining experience.
We had dinner here before a conference and the food is outstanding. Quality and fresh.
