Loved the buffet Christmas in July lunch today in Bistro 38,
I am gluten, Dairy and egg intolerant so I find it really hard to eat out,
The chef took me around the buffet showing me what I could eat and for dessert I was presented with a large plate of beautifully made raw slices and sliced fruits served with melted dark chocolate to dip my treats in to,
great staff and a lovely meal, We will definitely be booking up for the high tea soon.
I was lucky enough to be surprised with a high tea on Saturday at Joondalup Resort. we all loved the food, the service was great, and the choice of teas in your own tea pot was lovely. I couldn't recommend a high tea here highly enough. Thank you, you made my birthday extra special.
We decided to have the wife's birthday dinner at Bistro 38 as they had some deals on that are very good (2 for 1 cocktails and children eat free).
The food was delightful, I had the fish of the day, a very agreeable gold band snapper, it was presented and cooked very well. The children's meals were very good, decent portion size too. Everyone at the table had positive feedback on their meals, we all had a starter, the prawns were great as was that arancini balls, pate and calamari, steaks were very good, but I think the crackling on the pork belly was a bit chewy, other than that small issue, a fantastic evening.
The staff were very good and attentive. I would definately recommend Bistro 38, all together it was a nice dining experience.
The service tonight was faultless the ladies who waitressed for us were lovely. The food was very tasty and portions generous, at a very reasonable price too. We will visit again.

Delicious food, lovely setting, good value cocktails, friendly staff. I had a lovely evening at Bistro 38 at the Joondalup Resort on a Friday night with a big group of ten people. The buffet was amazing; I don’t know whether to compliment the seafood or the dessert buffet first! The dessert buffet was like being a kid in a candy shop with such a large variety of delicious choices. The salmon, prawns, mussels and oysters were fantastic and the carvery was also really tasty. The cocktails were $10 each, which is excellent value, and we thoroughly enjoyed the champagne cocktails (berry bliss?). We were sitting at a table outside near the pool and watched a pretty sunset over the pool and golf course gardens. A big thank-you to the really friendly and helpful staff, we had a great night.

Great surroundings but need to work on the food. Ordered Amelia Park Lamb with carrot and cumin mash. When it arrived it was cold and there was no mash to speak of.
I asked for mash and eventually was offered another meal. This was delivered with a side of mash but the lamb was so rare it was almost raw. I sent this back.
To the credit of the lady who was coordinating, she came back to me admitting it was way too rare and refunded the cost of the meal.

One of my best eating memories created at Bistro 38. A special occasion (my lovely wife's milestone birthday), was celebrated in style with a night at the Joondalup Resort, and a sumptuous dinner at Bistro 38. The tasting platter was made up of scallops, black pudding, tempura soft shell crab, grilled tiger prawn, peperonatta, and salt and pepper squid, with garlic aioli. It was a perfect start and set the bar high for the rest of the courses. Madam decided to have the squid entree as her main, along with some hand-cut fries and a plate of seasonal veges, which were both outstanding.
I opted for my usual favorite when it appears on any menu - the venison, and was not disappointed. Described as "Sumac crusted venison, almond milk, chick peas & carrots, juniper and chocolate jus", it was perfectly cooked and immaculately presented. At the risk of going into a "food coma", I tackled the Bombe Alaska, which was divine. A fine layer of chocolate sponge encased a lovely vanilla ice-cream, topped with warm meringue, with a side of red berry coulis.
With very accommodating service from our attentive dining staff (thanks Abbie), we'll certainly be heading back to this place to try more items from the menu!
Delicious lunch. My husband and I had lunch here the other day and it was lovely. Food was really tasty and the potions were very generous. I actually found my meal to be so filling that I could fit in dessert :(. We will definitely be back. The service also was really lovely.
Small serves - below average quality. Dont go to Bistro 38 if you are hungry. Head down to your Hungry Jacks or Maccas instead. Went there last night and ordered the Snapper, at $38.00 thought this would be a substantial meal with some additions. What came out blew me away!! A small piece of mushy Snapper (about the size of a twenty cig pack) sitting on two string beans with a teaspoon dob of mushy apple paste, Some other mini unidentifiable shreds of what appeared to be veggies.
Prior to our main meal orders we ordered garlic bread for six. What came out was a soggy pizza base, looked like a Coles frozen base and about as tasty. Not impressed overall.
That was it?? The chef who prepared this as a main meal should hand his badge in and go back to school.
Lovely surrounds. A perfect place if you simply need to dine in with lovely surrounds of nature to relax. They didn't have a big menu but I was still happy with my choices plus the service was great!
Beautiful setting with the option to sit inside or out. We had both breakfast and dinner here.

We visited Alcove for the buffet breakfast. We were a large group of 10 people (adults and kids) and we all enjoyed the breakfast. The kids really enjoyed the fresh fruit and endless fruit juices.
The coffee was lovely and hot and plenty of variety. All the staff were super friendly and assisted when needed. We really enjoyed this family treat and look forward to visiting again.
Had an amazing lunch at The Alcove. Everything was superb both in flavour and presentation. Oysters, steak and chicken were standouts. Will definitely be back!

Been hearing positive reviews about the restaurant from people I know especially from the in laws as they've dined out from there before and been reading good comments in the Facebook page. So when the chance came to try out the restaurant, we took it and got very excited! It was a last minute plan and we were lucky to get a table. When we got there, we waited for a few minutes as it's quite full and our table isnt ready. But it did not bother us at all because we enjoyed catching up with our family friends in a waiting area where there is a bar and you could enjoy having drinks and chatting while having a seat. I gave it a 4/5 ratings. Nearly perfect apart from some teeny minor details. The restaurant has one of the best ambiance and perfect for any gathering or special occasions. It is warm and cosy inside and the staff are very friendly. I appreciate that they are kid friendly too. Our 4 years old came with us for dinner and they provided an activity paper with some coloring which my son enjoyed. When we ordered our foods , we didnt wait for a long time to be served. We ordered the sardines for entree with chorizo and it was splendid! Its tastes nice. I took only some pictures of our food but not all of it. My picture does not do any justice on how good the foods were. I have the seafood paella as I love anything seafood. It tastes absolutely yummy and serving size is good too. My husband and mother in law have the lamb and it's very tender. We got the BBQ Brussels sprout salad and I for one can't believe that I love how it taste together with the other things in the salad. You can taste the freshness of the veggies. Dessert was superb! We shared and match it with espresso Martini. They got the best espresso Martini. The only thing that makes me not give them a perfect rating is there's a hit and miss on some of the foods. Like my father in law ordered pork belly, and I find it a bit dry when he shared with us. Maybe if there's a sauce on the side that goes with it and maybe a bit of carb too as its paired with some veggie that some people doesnt like to eat one. Though I know the restaurant serves a Mediterranean Middle Eastern foods. One last thing too, when they served the dessert my mother in law and our family friend ordered the same which is a sticky date pudding however my MIL requested a gluten free option because she is gluten intolerant. However when we asked, the staff who served it didn't respond which is which. I would recommend to have the same person getting orders and serving it with to avoid any confusion next time. Overall , we have an unforgettable and wonderful dining experience at the restaurant. Highly recommend to everyone who wants to check the place out.
Seafood pasta at its finest...
Between my wife and I, we tried the gnocchi with Gorgonzola, prawns and Zucchini and the 'Nero' -squid ink taglione with fresh seafood and chilli, as recommended by the friendly waitress. Both of the dishes were faultless and I wouldn't have changed a thing on either dish.
It was clear that everything, including the pasta was made in house and that the chefs knew exactly what they were doing.
We look forward to coming back, and may even order the same two dishes!
The menu was quite limited, but the food was nice and tasty. Good atmosphere too. But the kids food was a bit of a letdown. The mini burger was really mini, would be good if it were a bit bigger. There were no meat in the pasta either . FYI, Optus reception (data) inside is quite bad. But free wifi is available.
A great night was had by all!
Venue, service and food and atmosphere were exceptional and delivered to a party of seven. I highly recommend The Alcove as the place for a great dining experience.
We had dinner here before a conference and the food is outstanding. Quality and fresh.
