This was my favourite sushi place when I was living in Kalamunda. Consistently fresh, and the staff and chef are excellent. The bento boxes are to die for. I generally get some sashimi, miso soup and a bento box, and walk away full and happy.
The only gripe I'd have is that there's no actual nigiri sushi on the menu. Not sure why, but it's a little strange that can't actually order sushi from a restaurant that calls itself a sushi restaurant.
I love this place. In fact, if I haven’t been in a while I begin to crave the sashimi and end up ordering the same thing, every time.
I’d like to try other things but the sashimi bento box has everything I could ask for and is easily the best bento box I’ve ever eaten in Perth.
While the menu here isn’t the most diverse or unusual when it comes to Japanese restaurants in Perth the commitment to high quality ingredients and the ambience of the place brings me back every time. I feel just like I’m back in Japan when I’m here and after a few visits when the chef begins to recognise you it feels like coming home.
Not a great place for large groups, they have booths in the back for groups of 4, and maybe one or two more could cram in but it can be quite uncomfortable if you try to sardine yourself in there.
There isn’t a lot of seating available and they don’t take bookings so be prepared for that, but it feels so authentic to me, and the interior has been decorated beautifully that it adds to the experience rather than detracts from it.
I have tried more than the sashimi bento box over the years and everything is superbly prepared, fresh and delicious. It’s BYO for a small corkage fee and with a BWS around the corner selling Sapporo beer and Sake it makes a perfect night 👌
Fantastic food! Great chef! (Hi Gino!) Just a awesome little restaurant. My hubby and I always get the same. 2 bento box, chicken karage and terryaki salmon.
Delicious!!!!!!
If you like Japanese you must try Kishi! I’ve tried other Japanese since having Kishi and have not found anywhere that compares. We like it that much that it’s our take away treat every week!
Fantastic little place in Kalamunda town center. Great ambiance, felt like I was back in Kyoto. Great food. Have to say one of the best bento presentation I’ve seen and tastes great too. Currently only opens for dinner. The restaurant doesn’t take reservations. Best to get there early as seats fills up quickly and waiting time might be long if you turn up late. . It really is well worth the wait though!
Picked up take away boxes tonight and amazing delicious !! Ordered bento boxes and bowls and all impeccably presented and fresh flavours . yum
Entering this quaint little restaurant felt like stepping inside an authentic Japanese laneway eatery! The decor made an instant impression, as did the cosy booth seats. The food was equally as impressive! We tried two different bento boxes, and thoroughly enjoyed the variety of flavours and textures. The edamame was a highlight! We left feeling very satisfied and will definitely be back!
Absolutely divine! Amazing flavours, textures, atmosphere, and gorgeous staff - cannot praise this place highly enough. SO MUCH YUM!!!!!!!!!!
Very authentic in ambience, food and decor. Felt like I was back in Japan in one of their tiny , traditional sushi bars. The owner chef is a friendly English man which was a surprise for such authentic dishes which were delicious! Will definitely be back! Only open in the evenings at the moment but worth the trip up the hill.
Fantastic food and very well prepared.
Kishi has turned into our go-to takeaway, and it's great to eat in too.
The longest we've had to wait for takeaway is 20 minutes and that's only once.
It tastes amazeballs and we seem to be eating there every other week!
Must go place! Excellent food. They make all their food in house. Portions are decent size and pricing is fair (maind dish as bento box is approx in between $25-$35). Very cosy vibe. Owner is such a sweetheart. 5* recommend.
Cozy place.... really feels like you're in an izakaya shop in Japan. Chef and staff were friendly. Music was a little too loud. Just having NHK switched on would be good. Overall, food was +/- standard except for how the sashimi were sliced. Always room for improvements. Keep it up :)
Beautifully authentic Japanese restaurant, from the setting through to the food. It’s tastefully decorated to reflect a more traditional Japanese experience, the food is sublime and even though you’ll pay slightly more for it than a standard Japanese restaurant (only slightly) what you’re rewarded with is great quality food and a greater quantity of it as well. The presentation of their bento is beautiful, the colours are particularly vibrant. The taste is great, good flavours and meat that is cooked properly. It is definitely a bit more out of the way than usual but if you ever do decide to have a bit of a road trip then make it to here!
Highly recommend coming here to experience traditional Japanese cuisine.. great atmosphere and the food is fantastic and yummy..Great staff & also the young man who served us that night was well mannered & very helpful with choosing our food. Very cheerful & happy guy. Made our night even better.. we will be back
Kishi is absolutely outstanding! The service is impeccable and the food is immaculate! I would recommend going even just for the cozy warm environment that makes you feel like your actually in Japan. The staff are lovely and the management is even lovelier! The owners are so welcoming, including their adorable son!!!
Loved the experience!! The staff was super friendly and the food was really good. Would highly recommend this place !
Everything was delicious, it had a cozy and fun vibe, the owner/chef is super nice and we chatted for awhile. We had the fried prawn bento box and a fried tofu soup bento box. The prawns had great flavor the rice was good, coleslaw was tasty, all of the side dishes were delicous. The food was rich and zingy. We'll be coming back!
When we were there the first few times last year 2021, the quality of the sashimi, side and main dishes were great. The sashimi cuts were thick and fresh.
Last week, majority of the sashimi cuts were not as good. Smaller cuts with processed fish/crab stick thing on the side. I haven't seen that before.
The rice that came with the bento was so poorly cooked, it grossed me out. It consistency was like sludge. No kidding.
The veg udon was great, but very small to be charging at $21.
I ordered x2 remune, x1 small sashimi of around 8 -10 small pieces, x1 chicken bento and x1 small udon = $130ish....
Maybe it was just that day...
I prefer Yuuma now.
