Like every place in kalbarri at the moment the Gilgai is chronically understaffed, so make sure you book ahead. We had the surf and turf (steak and prawns), and the parmy. The parmy was tasty and generous. The surf and turf was a mixed bag. The prawns were ok, but the steak was tough. There aren't many options for a walk-in dinner on a Monday in kalbarri at the moment, so the Gilgai is not a bad option.
Food is always delicious here. Reasonably priced. The Gilgai is always on our list when we are in Kalbarri.
We were walk in and got a table within 30mins. We ordered a steak and were recommended the pork ribs by the bartender. We were not disappointed. Steak cooked perfectly medium and the mushrooms and port sauce was delicious. The pork rib sauce was lovely and sticky and full of flavour.
