Fun atmosphere with nearly authentic food!
I have had take out from Bang Bang a few times, but this was my first bricks and mortar visit. The restaurant is tucked away in a peaceful little neighbourhood, with a mix of street side and indoor dining. The indoor area was pleasantly surprising, although the washroom that was out the back door in an adjacent shed left much to be desired.
The service is standard and adequate, which you would expect for this category at this price point.
The food is quite close to authentic, but it is too watered down in flavour and spice for me to consider it full blown Sichuan. The best thing on the menu is the prawn and pork wontons, followed by the green beans (although they are a spice level 2 when they really need to be an 8). Most other items are good but, but definitely light on flavour and spice.
Worth checking out if you're in the area!
This one is tricky as I think we ordered badly. Had the dumpling and salt and pepper prawns for entree and shredded beef and fried rice. The entrees were tasteful and came out very quickly. Shredded beef was dry and lacked any sauce- making it a really difficult dish to eat. Service was good- prices are outrageous high- but that seems to be common theme in Kenmore. Lucky we BYO'd.
Have recently dined here after about a 6 month break and have found the usual quality to have slipped a little, still enjoyable but just not quite as good as it was
