Review Dong Dong Noodles - Kensington

Great tasting Cantonese food. We came here for dinner. Ordered Salted Fish & Chicken Fried Rice, Beef with Scrambled Egg, Pork Spare Ribs Hot Pot, and Salt & Pepper Squid. All the dishes were yummy but the serving size for Hot Pot was really small so I wouldn't order that dish again. Waitress was so busy that she was running (literally running) and skitting around the place which made me feel a bit uneasy due to safety reasons. They needed at least one more staff on as she was the only one taking orders, bringing food out and clearung tables...

Went on a Friday night. And they seemed busy coz the waitress was literally running in the restaurant and slamming down the dishes. The female waitress seemed stressed lol The food was yummy. Decent and large portion size. And good price. For 2 dishes it was $30. And you get rice and chicken. So go for the food!!!

Had dinner tonight with my bf, I ordered a beef gravy rice. That rice was super hard and dry, like it was from yesterday! 2 stars for the other dish we had, at least one of us had a great dinner.

Delicious Chinese barbecue pork and crispy pork rice. Dine in is a bit squishy as its a small space

We eat here once at least once a week and the team really spoil us! The service is very quick. Our favourites are the Salt & Pepper Squid, Combination Fried Rice, Pork Spare Rib Hot Pot and a small Roast Duck & Roast Pork platter. The dishes go perfectly with a glass East Sauvignon Blanc got from the pub across the road.

My family has been going here for many years. We really enjoy this place. The food is consistently filling and tasty. Highly recommend the black pepper beef, salt & pepper squid and the dong dong fried rice!

Decent food, large portion sizes and not too pricey either. Tried out the Hokkien seafood rice and the fried noodles with black bean sauce and had a good time with both! If you looking for dinner and not sure what to do, Dong Fong noodles has you covered.

We came here for a quick take away from this restaurant. We ordered the choy sum which was delicious and still had a good texture to it- not over cooked at all. We came back the order their noodles and portions were huge and the noodles were full of flavour. They also give you complimentary soup before your meal.

We had lunch here on 1st of January. All the choices were nice. I love the shantung chicken. Roast pork also nice. Place not so clean but it was ok.

Came here for takeaway, we got some duck and it was good. The prices are what's expected. The place is of standard cleanliness. At night the restaurant becomes quite packed, but it's very popular for take away.

Food taste good. Roast are good. But impression for this particular visit is bad because of one particular waitress who only work I think weekend or occasionally. This visit, just within 5seconds of finishing my final bite, just about to take a sip of water, she cleared my plate and asked another waiting customer to take my table as if trying to get rid of me, and I have only been eating for less than 20mins. The waiting customer also felt bad for me. The last time I see her was about a year ago, she scolded us when we tried to order more food halfway into the meal which is extremely ridiculous. This is not the right way to treat a paying customer.

Monday - don't come here on a Monday: chefs day off!
Apalling service: all the waitpersons stood at the counter Idle and chatting - we saw a comedy of fat Asian youth as waitstaff that didn't even attempt customer service - sack them!!
The food: very very poor indeed! The green bean and pork, was very good but the rest was nasty - the chef must have mondays off, or they profiled us as non-Asian and the chef clearly lost interest (despite the $80 bill) - CASH ONLY BUSINESS -
I intend to let them Know my sentiments at the counter!!!

Been here only thrice and on all visits, results were pretty consistent.
The service was slow and the staff was ridiculously biased towards customers who dressed fancy or formal or did not speak Chinese. When taking orders, they still maintained chatting to their co-workers and did not re-confirm after all orders were written down. Eventually our dishes got messed up, including how one of my vegetarian friends received beef in her dish.
Communication with the waitstaff was difficult and the mood dropped lower than the floor.
Pity because the menu was decent and displayed nice Chinese dishes at affordable prices and the food was decent. Will never be back unless the customer service and management is completely changed. ^_^

Dong Dong noodles is an old favourite of mine that I used to frequent quite often. I went there again last night and had my traditional favourites a hot and sour soup which is not a common to find around town followed by a salt and pepper squid. I'm happy to say that the food as always was excellent and well priced the salt and pepper squid is absolutely the best I've tasted in Sydney. If I have any criticism of The restaurant it would be that it is very small inside and often crowded making the eating experience a little cramped. Overall one of my favourite places to eat around town.

Dong Dong Noodles in Kingsford is very popular with the locals so that's a good sign. A good range of entrees like spring rolls, sang chou bow, soups and steamed wonton. The mains include pork, beef or chicken options with different sauces; sweet and sour, black bean, oyster, salt and pepper and more. There's also hot pots, seafood and vegetables and bean curd. A range of stir fried noodles, chow menu, vermicelli, fried rice, laksa and congee etc can also be ordered. This place has bbq chicken, duck, with sides (only available before 9:45pm). We got the san choy bow and scrambled egg with prawn. They were both very tasty! They were also so fast, quite possibly the fastest service i've ever had. For a drink we got a hong kong lemon iced tea.

Being a 2nd year student at UNSW, sometimes you crave for a quick feed in the hour break that you somehow have in your scheduled timetable (or maybe you're skipping a lecture). Ventured to this place after an accounting class with a friend. Atmosphere was pretty average, and service was average as you'd expect from Chinese takeaways. Incidentally, my management lecturer in 1st year always talked about this place - and the chicken chow mein.

And that's what I did. I ordered the chicken chow mein for a bargain $9.5. Although slightly oily, still the usual authentic chinese cuisine I was used to having with my family dinners. Would I recommend? If you're a UNSW student with a break to spare, try it!

Awful food, when I ordered prawn chow mein, they served with convenient noodles, and the worst part is that there's pieces of a bowl inside my vegetable. When I show them the reaction was so unconcerned that I almost thought it's my own fault.

Food is ok , food come out quick however service is very poor. Alot of miscommunication when ordering they mistaken some orders. They really need to work on customer service

Found this place on Zomato for a comfort Chinese food. Got complimentary soup which is lovely and feel homey, but the combination noodle is lacking of gravy. Food portion is generous. Pricing is well priced

I've been to this place a few times and am super familiar with kingsford from my uni days. This place is usually busy and today was no exception. I came a little after peak lunch time, the service was fairly good and the food came very quickly. We were seated next to a doorway that led upstairs and it was a tad annoying having somene open and close a door whilst carrying huge boxes next to you. The food was fresh. My father ordered the beef and vegetable rice noodle stir fry. Portions were fair and the flavour was rich and thick. I ordered my favourite; the preserved egg and salted pork congee with chinese donut. The chinese donut was nice and crunchy and the consistency of the congee was pretty perfect in my opinion. Unfortunately the flavour was really lacking. Had no flavour whatsoever, which to me, usually means they boiled the rice beforehand and then dumped ingredients in when they needr to make a particular dish which then causes the flavour to not be wholesome. I was a tad disappointed but I still finished the whole thing. Overall, it wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing.

New Dong Dong Noodles is the perfect place for a UNSW student to eat at for their affordable and highly authentic Cantonese cuisine. The service is especially fast too which is important if you only have a short break between lectures. Definitely get the Shan Tung Chicken!

Although the name has changed slightly to "The New Dong Dong Noodles", I was glad to find food and prices were still pretty much what I remembered. Salt and pepper chicken wing s- $11.80 - a heap of chicken wings deep fried to perfection and coated in that salt and pepper flavour that we all know and love =) Only comment - too many drummettes and not enough wing sections! arrrghhh Fish fillet with sweet corn on rice - $10 - Another old favourite - goujons of fish lightly battered, fried and covered in sweet corn puree on an enormous mound of rice. We finished the toppings but there was no way of finishing

The Kingsford section of Anzac Parade, between the adjoining Middle and Meeks Streets, has in the recent few months become even more of a food hub for a variety of Asian food. Sydneysiders know that Kingsford, which lies like a fifteen minute drive south-east of the city centre on a good day, is also a residential focus for 18 to 25 year olds, mostly customers of the University of NSW in nearby Kensington and a mecca for the various nationalities from South-east Asia, China and Hong Kong. Apart from English, the predominant languages you hear spoken on the streets are often Indonesian, Hokkien, Mandarin and Cantonese. Above, a Japanese outlet with transparency, not far from the roundabout - there I was at the bottom right hand side, trying to take this shot. Kingsford once had hopes of being joined to the Sydney rail network but that plan was dashed by cost cutting in the late 70s and the line terminated at Bondi Junction instead. Today the theme is food, as illustrated by the vie

Knowing when to fold them can be quite a virtue. Particularly in poker but also in the case of choice overload, origami, and letting go of niggling and nagging of things you know will never change. You fold and move on. Sometimes it's actually the brave t

Very cheap.. quick and usually tasty.... Its super cheap....it comes out fast..and most of it is real good. Can be inconsistent thought - I find that 20% of the time it will be under-par...ie everything will be bland.
