had a work christmas party dinner here at Di Palma’s and absolutely loved it! the service was so quick, friendly and helpful! we picked entree’s to share to start with and continued with mains and desserts each!
i had the gluten free past with beef ragu sauce... i absolutely loved the flavour and the gluten free pasta was so delicious! i then had the pannacotta that was gluten free and loved it, can’t go wrong with that!
this is a lovely restaurant, perfect for families and functions! :)
This is a great restaurant to visit with family and friends! They have an extensive menu with heaps of entree, main dishes and specials to choose from. I definitely recommend trying their pizzas as they are not only huge in size, super filling but also delicious! The risotto and seafood dishes are also a must have as they are very flavoursome. The decor of this restaurant is lovely as well and perfect restaurant to have a lovely dinner.
A group of my friends catch up every few months and this has now become our regular - despite saying each time, we’ll try something new! The atmosphere is warm & relaxed and the service and food are both great. The prawn and chilli linguine is amazing!!
To get to Di Palma's for me on a Saturday night in traffic is almost a 45 minute drive, so I was really hoping it would be worth it. Guess what? It was.
We found parking across the street (though it can be tough to find a space) and were greeted warmly at the door and shown to our table. It's a large restaurant with a few different "rooms" and even more private "rooms" if you're having a big birthday, or anniversary celebration. Needless to say, tables aren't all on top of each other and you can have a conversation and be heard.
For entree, we shared the Bolognese and mozzarella arancini with basil aioli and boy, it was delish. Next time, I think I'll get my own serve, because they're too good to share. For main, I ordered the House made rigatoni with chicken, semi dried tomato, zucchini and basil pesto. It was so beautiful and flavourful, but if I'm going to be a touch picky, I'd say the pasta was just a little bit too al dente for me. But flavour is key and it was there. As if I needed dessert ... I ordered the Churros. I think they were the best I've had in Melbourne and it came with strawberries, ice cream and chocolate sauce. I didn't like the sauce at all and barely touched it. The dish was fine on its own without it.
Honestly, the food was great, the service was top notch. It was a busy, busy night, yet food came out in reasonable time. I think the prices were reasonable, but we used the Entertainment Book card to get a discount. I really can't fault the restaurant much at all. I just know now that when I go next time, when making the booking, I'll request a table by the windows. And I WILL definitely go another time. It's really good.
Di Palma's is a family-friendly restaurant in Kew.
The crispy squid was delicious, as was the bug and lobster bisque risotto. The pizzas are also good.
The service is friendly, but can be slow when busy.
Excellent food. Fresh food you can taste and great menu selection. Pasta was perfectly cooked and wood fire pizza was also cooked through. Great place for young family as well.
We went here for dinner as a last minute Sunday evening. My son was with his grandparents and I really felt like a nice intimate dinner with my wife. (Just like the old times)
The food was outstanding. Exactly what we were looking for. My wife had the cauliflower croquets and I had the clams with beer and chorizo for entree followed by the fish of the day (barramundi) and my wife had the prawn linguine. I was so pleased with the full Flavour and respect given to the seafood.
As an ex-chef that worked for John at Dipalmas well over 15 years ago when they were in Barkers Road, Kew, I really appreciated the effort and quality of cooking. The fish was perfectly cooked and the clams were absolutely to die for. I was hesitant to go here, purely because I worked for Dipalmas many years ago and wasn’t sure if I’d like the food having cooked in one of the restaurants (years ago), but now having visited will definitely add to our list of regular go to restaurants.
The food and service were excellent. I highly recommend. The food was of high quality, fresh and flavorsome, the servings were generous, but not over the top and the service was professional and friendly.
Went there with a family group of six on a Sunday night to find the restaurant full of happy dinners.Pleasant ambience not too noisy in spite of crowd and large groups. Both food and service were excellent. I had a bug and lobster bisque risotto and my wife had a duck ragout risotto, both of which were outstanding. Others in the group which included vegetarians and vegans were also happy with both the food etc. We will certainly go back for those lovely risottos.
Best pizza in kew. It’s always a go to place for the locals to enjoy a great evening out. Didn’t get a good picture of the pizzas because we tucked into it as soon as it hit our table.
Beautiful food, decor and ambience. However, we found the service a little overly attentive to the point where we felt rushed to decide on our meals and wine. The waiter came back for our orders only about a minute after giving us the menus. There are all the usual Italian options like pizza, pasta and risotto but there are also some low carb options for those who need them. A lovely restaurant all up, just wish we had more time.
