Horrified to realise that I haven’t reviewed this place despite being a patron of theirs for years. In short, this place is run by, I kid you not, some bloody brilliant magicians. You won’t believe that their hot pies (yum!), sausage rolls (drools), doughnuts (omigosh) and last but not least, danishes and croissants are in actual fact COMPLETELY gluten free. Full disclaimer: be prepared to have your mind blown completely away, because their pastries consist of flaky layers of buttery pastry and remain true to the original definitions set by the Austrians and Danes.
As a lover of all things flaky pastry, this place is not one any gluten-free person should miss. I swear, I never never ever leave the store without a few croissants and danishes to-go. These two pastries alone are a very very marvellously good reason to pay any of their stores a visit, and god bless that they have more than one location!
This place is amazing... A celiac pastry-lovers dream. I went in expecting a few cakes and breads, but they had delicious puff pastries and savoury pies as well as veggie options! So nice to have a savoury pastry again and so delicious. The staff we talked to was celiac as well:)
Popped into GF4U today in Kew to grab some doughnuts for a lunch we were going to, which was being hosted by a long suffering celiac friend, who lived in the far northern suburbs. It was very busy the doughnut display was empty so they were struggling to keep up with demand but still had them behind the counter.
I was amazed by how delicious these doughnuts and some of other baked goods looked. Gluten free food is coming along leaps and bounds and doughnuts has been the one thing he has been craving. While the intent was to deliver to our friend I thought it rude not to sample the cinnamon one myself, just to make sure it was suitably consumable. It was delightful so and I didn't notice any difference in taste to the standard doughnut I can help myself to whenever I feel the need. We got a couple of the GF, fructose friendly cinnamon, the jam filled, and the chocolate iced doughnuts.
Also grabbed him a loaf of their GF, dairy free, fructose friendly grain bread which he used as his alternative option to accompany a great seafood chowder he had made us all for our entree. It looked just like "normal" bread but I can't vouch for the taste.
