Sedap Rasa is very appealing to me. I’ve been to this restaurant many times with my family - The place offers such great variety of food to eat! The food is divine and affordable. Every time I go there, I normally get the 3 choices. By paying $7.50 - $11.50, you can taste a plate of delicious and plenty food. The taste is also consistent & I'd highly recommend you to try their Beef Rendang, padang satay style, cassava leaves in green curry and green chilli fried fish. The beef rendang is really tender and tasty! For those of you who love spicy food ,this place would be most suitable for you as the spiciness is just perfect. They have such an authentic Padang food that is rich in spices & sauces! I'm in love with their famous green chilli sauce(sambal). The waiters are also extremely energetic, friendly & accommodating to us. They know the menu very well & they can recommend the food that would suit our preferences. The atmosphere is great too - simple, yet cozy and hygienic. Overall, this is a really good restaurant with excellent level of service!

Ate here today for lunch and it was pretty busy for a restaurant that is little bit secluded from the other clusters of famous restaurants. Coming here for the first time was a little bit confusing so best bet is to ask the staff for recommendation they are very helpful when i asked. Let me tell you that this place is the most original authentic Indonesian ( West Sumatran Padang dish to be more precise ) restaurant that is available in Sydney. Dining makes me feel like I'm eating at the restaurant Sari Bundo in Indonesia Jakarta which are famous for their Padang food. Definitely the must try dish are beef rendang, oh the tasty soft and tender slow cooked to perfection. There are no more closer Padang style beef rendang in Sydney or maybe even Australiia. Green chilli fried fish and the slow cooked gulai chicken are also very delicious definitely recommended.

The food at sedap rasa appears simple, but the flavors have remarkable depth. The restaurant is both clean and tidy and the friendly staff with a smile on. I would thoroughly recommend sedap rasa to anyone with a crave for Indonesian food.

Had the nasi padang. Every single dish was amazing. I had the cassava, telur belado, green chilli fish and jackfruit curry. It reminds me so much of home. Cheap, satisfying food. Will definitely be back for more.

After a bit dissapointed of having an authentic nasi padang last week, one fried advised me to try this place. Not only nasi padang, I tried sate padang as well. Nasi padang was in huge portion, the waitress even asked me if I want more rice (of course!) I ate nasi padang with kangkung belacam (taste good, the belacan is strong), telur balado (so-so), and rendang (rendang is spicy mild and very tender, the sauce given generously which was good). My sate padang was very authentic, much better than sate padang in Medanese restaurant in Surry Hills i reckon. They made it with cow tongue (like sate padang should be), and the sauce was a bit spicy which i like it remind me of my favorite sate padang selero ajo in Jakarta. All cost me $28 (dont know exactly how much the price of my nasi padang and sate padang was). Surely i'll be back next time..

Review based on multiple visits over years.

3 dishes w rice for $12-14
2 dishes w rice for $ 10-11

Green chilli or red chilli fried fish, terong balado (sambal eggplant), gulai singkong cassava curry, fried chicken ayam kalasan, chicken curry, beef rendang, perkedel (deep fried mashed potato w corned beef) etc etc are all available on their bain-marie, padang style not unlike pondok buyung at kensington (see my rev for buyung). The main deviation in style is that sedap rasa leans more towards indo-chinese way of cooking. And that is reflected in their menu from the kitchen.

On this visit, i got their nasi goreng w prawns, chinese indonesian influences shone here though i must say it does not quite represent how i imagined it to be. As it is, there were a few token nods to crunchy cabbage, red peppers n 4 prawns. It was ok but i wouldnt order this again.

Mie tektek (indo style chicken/prawn wet noodle), a staple among the rich n poor in indo, served from rickshaw to mid end outlets, you’d be hard pressed to find an identical taste amongst vendors. Such a simple dish really n quite a healthy one at that. I challenge you to find another joint which serves mie tektek 😁 here in sydney.

Gado gado indo salad w peanut sauce, a wee stingy in their tofu n where is the tempeh??? That said, they obliged w my req for extra spiciness.

Quite a fav of mine this joint. Along w indo rasa just up the road. Thanks in advance for reading n for the likes. Such a pain doing it w the latest ver of zom.

Been coming here for ages now, it is a quite simply designed outlet with canteen styled food. Always my go to during my Uni break as it is just a 5-10min walk from UNSW campus.

The servers and owners are very nice, and when I ask for extra rice, they simply top it up for me. Loved the authenticity of the place and it is an amazing place to get a yummy indo feed😍

I visited this restaurant with my colleagues who recommended this place. This authentic Indonesian restaurant is located near the UNSW. There are plenty of options on the menu including rice dishes, noodles, stirfrys and curries. I ordered from the hot buffet(the bain marie) 2 meat and 1 veg choice with rice for $10.50, great value. I am a massive rendang fan, so that was one of my choices and it did not disappoint. I also went the sweet ketchup manis chicken merryland, another good choice. For the vegetable option I went with the jack fruit curry and it was delicous, the pick of the lot. I will definitely return for more. This place serves quality Indo cusine and it is pretty cheap too.

Sedap rasa is the place to go to if you want authentic indonesian food. The bihon goreng is fanstastic, light and fluffy and not too oily. Their hot bar selection is a must try. The varieties available makes you want to come back to try the rest! Staff is also very friendly and warm. Good value.

If you are judging from the pictures on the outside, Sedap Rasa looks like just another boring Indo joint. Here you can either order dishes a la carte or just pick three from bain marie.

Tried their Beef Rendang, Balado Fish and Sweet Soya Sauce Chicken. I was pleasantly surprised with the Beef Rendang as it is quite authentic. The portion is also relatively generous.
Another interesting thing about this joint is that you can get Green Sand, Teh Sosro, Calpico and other popular Soda without having to go to Indo Grocery stores nearby.

Bottomline: Good food. Good Service. Very good value.

Up the street (Anzac Parade), away from the majority of Chinese and Indonesian Restaurants is Sedap Rasa! I stumbled upon this place by accident only because there weren't any car spaces where I usually park to go to my normal favourites. What caught my attention were the large food pictures of the delicious Indonesian food on offer inside. This place is like a Balinese Warung diner. A bain-marie offers you so many delicious looking choices.Combinations of 1 Meat and 2 vegetable dishes / 2 Meat and 1 vegetable choice/ 3 vegetable dishes are only $9.50. If you want more you can pay by the item price. Extra meat -$ 3.30, extra vegetable -$2.50. All dishes are served on Nasi Putih (White Rice). Here are some of the choices Sedap Rasa has on offer. Ayam gulai  (Slow cooked yellow curry chicken), Ayam goreng, (Fried Chicken), Telor balado  (Fried egg in balado chilli), Kentang udang cabe goreng (Potato chilli with prawn and green beans), Sayur kailan (Stir fry vegetables with chicken), Sayur daun singkong (Cassava leaves in green curry), Rendang sapi (Slow cooked beef rending), Cah toge tahu (Stir fry bean sprouts with tofu) and Buncis daging (Stir fry green beans with mince beef). The choices change regularly so as to offer a diverse variety of food. There is also a made to order menu offering you dishes like Nasi Goreng (Indonesian Fried Rice)-$12, Mie Goreng-$12, Kewetiauw Goreng-$13, Sop Buntap (Oxtail Soup)-$9.50 and Satay Padang-$10.With so much on offer, the 3 meal choice was a good option. When it comes to Indonesian food though - I am a glutton and want more! I ordered two chicken pieces of Ayam gulai (Slow cooked yellow curry chicken), Sayur daun singkong (Cassava leaves in green curry) and Buncis daging (Stir fry green beans with mince beef). Total for my gluttony of 2 Meat and 1 vegetable choice ($9.50) + extra Vegetable ($2.50) = $12. Bagus sekali! Verdict: If you have ever been to Bali, this is the equivalent of a typical warung in Denpasar, and a lot cleaner. The food tastes sensational and the staff are friendly. A clean environment with good atmosphere, what else can you ask for? I know, more food!

The main attraction at Sedap Rasa is the Nasi Padang although they do a menu of cook to order noodles and soups. The last time we were here almost a year ago Devotee VC had the oxtail soup, he though it was very good but he had to wait (felt like forever) and watch hungrily as we eat our Nasi Padang.

This time for real. This is steak with the sizzle. Very tasty food, doesn't cost an arm or leg, and the variety is amazing. Be a man - order the chicken liver and giblets, you will be very pleasantly surprised. Be a woman - order the fried beef lung. Oxtail soup is mighty delicious, top it off with a pack of belingbing (sp?) crackers. I'll roger that.

Absolutely delicious & unexpected. I didn't expect much when I decided to eat at the first colourful lighted restaurant I saw but it turned out to be one of the best indonesian restaurants I've tried. I went with food from the hotbar and was really surprised that the food was so full of flavour. I definitely recommend getting the extra curry sauce on your rice it just added extra flavour to the rice and made everything else on my plate even more delicious.

Definitely a great experience and I'll certainly be back. I recommend it to all.

Great traditional Indonesian food with the right amount of spice. The yellow rice and stirfried kang kong with a bit of a kick is my favourite. Reminded me of my uni days at UNSW. Thank you for setting up the banquet for our big group of 30!

The beef rendang flavours are rich, well balanced and the tender beef pieces with coconut are really tasty. Would recommend the young jackfruit curry, belacan kangkong, cassava leaves, fried potato with prawns and green beans, and prasmanan (celebration dish!) for group dining

The most flavoursome noodle dish in a long time!! Can’t wait to have this again, crispy and slightly burnt chicken pieces that are also tender add to an amazing taste of the dish!!

We love this place. There is great variety. It's similar to a buffet. The staff member grabs a plate and asks what you'd like from the bain-marie. Although the food is in a bain-marie, it tastes fresh. The rending is very tasty. It's very sweet, almost like a desert. There is a tasty chicken curry also. The interior of the restaurant is simple, but comfortable. I definitely recommend this place.
