Best thai food in sydney!! 101 with fried rice is definitely my all time favourite!
Always be my comfort food. Best service best auntie!
Best cheap eat, good portion and just like original style Thai street food! Padthai is the best. We had Tomyum soup, they only put lots of mushrooms and a bit meat but the taste is so good!
we work in the area and absolutely love Ben's thai. the staff are so nice and they always know your order when you walk in. the prices are cheap compared to other places around. very tasty and large portions. 101 with fried rice is a must have. friendly service 5/5!
Located near the Kingsford roundabout for many years. Ben’s Thai serves the cheapest and best Thai around all of Sydney. Alongside Ayam 99, Bens is a staple in Kingsford that you just can’t miss out. Careful of its opening times as they don’t open on Mondays (Sad days appearing at its door and finding out that its closed).
The go to dish is 101, fried chicken with rice. It is such a simple dish, but gets you wanting for more every time. There are plenty of add-ons, my recommended is to get fried rice with veges ($1-$2). You can add a fried egg on top if you want it to be like a nasi goreng. Their pad thai is also a nice, the sauce is slightly sweeter than your usual.
It is a small shop, so it may be hard to get seats at times. You grab water from the fridge and just take it to your table. Ben thai is definitely remembered by those studying in UNSW who live nearby.
Pro : Freshy cooked food right in front of your eyes. Cheap prices even for the poor Uni students.
Cons : Rather small shop and maybe hard to get seats.
Must get : 101 with Vegetables w/ fried rice.
Though this restaurant has only a few tables, but if you come at the right time, you will definitely be able to get a table. I ordered Stir Fried Bean Curd and Cashew Nut with Rice (number #120) and I loved it. I love especially the sauce, very delicious. It is not spicy so for those who do not want to have spicy food at this restaurant might want to try this as an option.
I always get 101 with fried rice. The chicken is fried and has a great crunch, how fried chicken should be! The sauce they give goes perfectly with the chicken. It's more of a take away joint that gives you good value for food with fast service. I haven't tried anything else here because 101 is my fav!
Ben's Thai is our go-to place for quality thai food! Food servings are generous for the price you pay (more than reasonable!) and the customer service is always on-point. We're loyal customers visiting several times a month and have never been disappointed! Open plan kitchen for those who like to see their meals cooked but there is limited seating in-store. Also, restaurant is closed on Mondays.
This has been a family favourite since 1999. They've always been here, never refurbished, but always decent. Prices have increased, but you're still only paying 8 for lunch and 9 for dinner. Whenever I call and say 104 takeaway, they know it's me. I wouldn't recommend eating here to impress anyone, Ben's is meant to be a cheap takeaway joint. Their service also isn't meant to be 5 star, but if they're not too busy, Ben himself is up for a bit of a chat with his limited english. They don't take too long to make your food either! Always having them at least once a month!
Another no frills, no fuss eatery in the area. I come here for lunch every now and then because their food is yummy and good for value. There's a lunch specials menu and the serving size is decent. It's a small place, not a lot of seating but I think they do a lot of take away orders so I've never had a problem with having to wait for eat-in.
I also like that they have an open kitchen so I can see my food being cooked and smell it!! :)
I have been to this place for years since my uni days. Its a perfect spot for uni students due to its value for money and quick service.
Fave foods :
- 105 Chicken fried rice
-Red curry beef is quite good too
Their trademark is that They call their dishes with number evertime you order.
Pros;
- Good quality and cheap food
- Fast takeaway service
Cons:
- Not to best place to bring kids since the place is a bit smaller.
So my friend introduced me to this place a couple months ago and I've seen myself frequenting once/twice a week ever since!
Neat little hideout at the corner of kingsford junction, consequently it doesn't get as much reception as the other places that are facing the main road (anzac pde). Nevertheless, there are always customers either inside or ordering takeout and it's easy to see why.
The place in itself is small and offers a decent variety of dishes. The prices are ideal for students ($8 for lunch & $9 dinner for 90% of dishes with large quantity!) and the neighbourhood feel coupled with the friendly staff make this place convenient for a casual meal. My personal favourites are the green curry w/chicken and the fried rice noodle w/chicken.
