Ever since I tried Manpuku a few months ago, I have not been able to stop! I have dietary requirements and they even went to the effort of calling the head chef to clarify what ingredients were used to be sure. The menu has great variety. The food is fresh and tasty Great value for money Friendly & efficient service. (Sometimes you may even be Lucky enough to have the waiter at the Kingsford store do card tricks for you! ) The only feedback i have for the store managers, would be to add gluten free buckwheat noodles or anther type of gf noodle as an option, (charge extra for it.) It's my favourite place but since being told I am gluten intolerant I unfortunately cannot return for the ramen. :/ Definitely recommend this place, it will not disappoint!

The Kingsford Manpuku is one of the best noodle restaurants I have been to. I buy the number 5 off the list and my wife gets the number 8 with the chilli bomb.

I've been here countless times and they always serve great food, and it's always great service. They do all kinds of ramen (Shio, Shoyu, Miso and Tonkotsu), all good, but the Shio Gara really stands out from the rest - clear yet flavourful soup, with perfect matching wavy noodle and optionally, special pepper. If you are after good ramen that isn't thick and heavy (like Gumshara), this is the place to go. For me this is easily the best ramen place in Sydney. They've just opened a second store in Chatswood too (where Ichimaru used to be).

Rich, creamy tonkotsu broth that hits the spot! Noodles perfectly hard, easily absorbing the flavoursome broth. Thing is, it leaves you wanting more as with most ramen joints, the portion isn’t huge. Definitely on the expensive side for ramen. $18.50 for the spicy tonkotsu I ordered.

I've visited several times to both this and the Chatswood location. Will continue visiting because it is conveniently near UNSW. Always a satisfying bowl of ramen. I love the creamier broths.

The staff are super friendly! It's always super clean here and there is very limited seating.

I tried the heavy soy dolphin bone ramen. It was a really big bowl, full of ingredients, with just the right amount of soft and hard noodles. Japanese ramen shop atmosphere, people come in and leave will say hello, the girls are very warm service. The store is always full at noon.

Ordered the signature ramen number 7 and the number 6 which had burnt garlic oil. They were delicious. The chasu was tender - melt in your mouth one, the eggs had soft yolk. Broth was just right, thick and not too salty.

The chicken karaage curry rice with cheese had tender, juicy and marinated chicken thigh pieces. It was lots tastier and crunchy before soaked in the curry sauce, so maybe you can try ordering just the chicken karaage.

Portion is huge. Overall a very satisfied visit.

My favourite ramen place in Sydney by far. There are a lot of different types of ramen to choose from the menu, as well as hot dishes, rice, salad & a few desserts. They handmade the noodles which gives a springy texture. You can choose which types of noodles you prefer even tho each ramen is already preset for you. The broth is rich & full of flavour. The nitamago (flavoured soft boiled egg) is cooked to perfection with a creamy delicious yolk. I like how some of the ramen comes with a piece of printed nori with their name on it to add a bit of fun to the dining experience. It’s so unique. 😃

If you have a big appetite, why not try the MKII. It’s in a soy based pork soup with a hint of fish & garlic flavour. Instead of slices of chashu, (what you normally get in ramen toppings) you get a few chunky pieces of off the bone pork ribs, which have been cooked for hours. The soft & melt in your mouth succulent meat is so good. 🤤

Came here for my birthday, as a lover of ramen this is definitely one of my new favorites in Sydney. Service was warm and quick, we ordered gyoza and takoyaki to start and they were great. We ordered 3 other bowls of ramen, Gara shoyu, magicians red and I ordered the “Long Name” with an extra slow cooked pork rib. The broth was amazing half shoyu half chicken, great umami, and the short rib was a great complement. Such great flavour and the meat fell off the bone. Noodles were perfect medium. It did get quite busy from about 6.30pm on Saturday, recommend going early if you can.

Manpuku is our go to place for ramen, I love the thick and flavourful broth! The karaage curry rice was great, the curry was flavourful while the karaage chicken was crunchy and juicy. We added cheese for $1 however we think they could have sprinkled a little more cheese. We also tried the mentai cheese karaage which $9 for three pieces of karaage chicken with abit of sauce and cheese on top is quite steep. We love the new layout of the restaurant though as it has become more spacious and comfortable.

Been wanting to try this place for a long time and finally got the opportunity to after a long day after uni with my friends.
The interior of the place looked very nice and traditional and the staff were friendly towards us.

As what was recommended, we all tried the signature long name ramen as well as ordered two side dishes of gyoza and a salad with tofu and mochi for desert.

The side dishes came out fairly quick which was good. The salad was fresh but didn’t have a lot of the yuzu miso taste so it was nothing too special while the gyoza was nicely seared as expected with the cooked pork mince. Otherwise the side dishes were just above average to say at best.

Onto the ramen. The broth was nice, slightly thick and hearty and had a balance between pork and chicken soup mixed with soy. Noodles were thin and fresh and absorbed the broth well unlike pre-packaged ramen. On top the pork was extremely flavourful and fairly fatty and just melted in my mouth but it’s unfortunate to say they only provided two slices of pork chashu. Overall, a pretty good ramen I had.

The mochi was springy like a firm sponge/marshmallow on the outside and had a nice gooey filling inside which complimented the meal in the end.

Overall, the dining experience in Manpuku was quite pleasant and I would definitely return to try out their other ramen dishes in the future!

[4.5/5] Manpuku is a ramen joint popular in Kingsford and Chatswood. Please note that there are slight differences in prices for the Kingsford branch and the Chatswood one; with Kingsford being more expensive. This is probably due to Kingsford demanding higher rent for being next to a university. They have a signature ramen that is not available in all of Australia except for at Manpuku. Highly recommended as part of my favourite ramen joints.

The temperature has finally dipped and warm noodle soups will be perfect for such weather.  Kingford is teeming with so many noodle shops and you’ll just be overwhelmed with it.  So before scouring the entire stretch of shops pick the type of noodle soup you are craving for, then go from there.  For tonight, we headed for a ramen noodle shop Manpuku.

This place is one of my favorite ramen joints! I find that the broth always comes out perfect!

I usually order the Gyokai Black (with pork slices) ramen ($16) but this time i tried the MKII (soften pork ribs) ramen ($21) instead. I found the pork for MKII abit fatty, but has the "melt in your mouth" texture. The broth for both these ramen are brilliant.

My partner ordered the Long name ramen and he loved it ($15.50).
We also ordered the 5 piece Takoyaki ($5) and it was cooked well.

I would definitely recommend this place, but come early on weekends because it gets busy and waiting line.

One of the best Ramen shop I’ve ever taste!
We did ordered 3 ramen to shares,
1. The Long Name
The broth is jammed packed of Smokey flavour ( I am assuming from roasting the bone for stock)
One of the best by far.
2.Manpuku Red
This soup is one of kind, pork mince with bok choy and mushroom is right combo, off course with bean sprout and off course with spicy red onion.
3. Hiyashi Mango
This cold ramen on special and cost you $21
This unique combo of Mano sauce and soy base broth will hit the spot during hot summer day.
Try this if you want a refreshing taste ramen.

This sparse ramen bar with its clean interor finishes, is one of the more up market side compare to the others that I have previously visited. The service is prompt and to the point.
Their spicy soy base pork bone broth really packs a punch and is full of flavour. The texture is smooth and has this creamy finish after taste and the spice is not too overpowering, rather compliments the pork broth. The pork was very tender and melted in your mouth.
The noodles were quite chewy and springy, and can tell it's still fresh.
Though it is on the more expensive side of ramen bars, it is well worth the extre few dollars.

The food was amazingly, sensationally good. We ordered the Long Name ramen which was their signature dish and it was really good! The shio tonkotsu was nice and frothy, and was not too salty. The manpuku red was not too spicy and didn’t overpower the broth. These three ramen were quite filling but it didn’t sit heavily in the stomach, so we were able to share and finished everything. Would definitely recommend this place and come again another time.

A small and clean Ramen restaurant. The decoration looks very simple but it's clean and pleasant. There are huge handwriting art works on the wall.
The price is around $16, very suitable for students.

Like #Tonkosu Shoyu# $15 and #Manpuku Shiawase Ramen# $15.5. The soup is very thick. However the problem is when you drink it up, you'll feel bored and oily, like the same taste remains in your mouth for a long time.

Went to Manpuku after a long time. They have renovated and ordering is much more convenient. We ate a variety of ramen (number 2, 4, 5, 6, 10).

The broth was rich although some were a bit salty. The MK 2 had an especially rich broth and the salted pork rib was very nice. The ramens were very satisfying. Will come back again.

Rich and thick broth - tick. Fresh, chewy and al dente noodles - tick. Exciting toppings like meat, seaweed, bamboo shoots - tick. What could go worng with the combination of all of the above? Best ramen in Kingsford by far. Love the karaage and gyoza too - all freshly cooked and delicious! Small downside - always busy and higher price bracket compared to its neighbouring Asian joints.

A little gem we found right under our noses in the suburb of Kingsford. On Anzac Parade just behind all of the light rail construction you will find Manpuka a Japanese Ramen restaurant with friendly staff greeting you as you enter and leave the premises.

There are roughly 10-12 options to choose from each of them having thier own unique flavours. The prices are very good for the amount of food you get, 2 bowls and drinks for two range between $30-40.

With chicken, fish, pork and rib options to have inside your ramen, there is plenty to choose from. The broths can be ordered creamy or more refreshing and light. We definitely recommend this place for any ramen lovers.

We went to Manpuku on a Friday night and ordered the 3p karaage chicken with steamed rice and the gyokai tonkatsu.

The karaage chicken with rice came out first. The three large pieces of chicken were served with mayonnaise on the side. The chicken was very tasty but a bit oily. Overall a decent dish and reasonably priced.

The tonkatsu was also very tasty but with only two slices of pork and one egg cut in half, the dish wasn't very substantial at that price. Overall a good dish though with nice flavours.

Friendly service, good atmosphere, decent food, bit pricey.

Ramen, soup, and cha-shu were exceptional. I may have not tried many ramen Place enough in Sydney, but for the number of Japanese ramen shops that I've been to, this was probably the best! Their noodle was not hard of soggy. Its texture was just right and fresh! Soup was flavoursome and their Cha-shu (the thin slice of pork) was exactly like those that I've tried in Japan! Price was reasonable. The whole experience was just perfect. Should come more to try out different kinds of the ramen on the menu.

I had always seen this place super busy at dinner time so finally, I got to try it during my 3-hour break. It was easy to walk to and luckily it wasn't too busy at the time (was roughly 12:30PM). As soon as I walked in I loved the decorative black writing scrawled across the white wall, and on the other side they have some sakura petals flowing across (I think it would have been more awesome if they pushed the design a little closer to where people are sitting) . My partner recommended me buy the Gyokai Tonkotsu, and he bought the Tsukemen. The Gyokai Tonkotsu had this really creamy, smooth texture, and it doesn't really taste like pork and I didn't understand why and it was because I realised after that it is a mix of garlic and fish flavour which was throwing me off. I still really enjoyed it and found it really unique, but at the time I was craving intense flavours so I ended up swapping and having the Tsukemen which had a really yummy, intense flavour for the soup, coupled with some bamboo shoots, seaweed, shallots, eggs and this pork rib which was sweet. The only disappointing aspect was the proportion was much smaller than what we expected and the dipping soup lacked in thickness (we prefer it when the soup is thicker). The noodles for the Gyokai Tonkotsu was absolutely amazing! I have never had noodles like Manpuku's original noodles; they are dense but easy on the stomach/ light at the same time? Delicious and totally addicting!

Great ramen bar that's hard to get a seat at. You're supposed to write your name on a board at the front - but this seems to be ignored by most people. The Japanese chefs give it a fun atmosphere, making quite a bit of noise, whooping and hollering as they cook up the bowls. The food is good, very filling and the restaurant provides a generous array of condiments, complimentary water etc. ideal for the many Uni students that frequent the place. We tried the Manpuku special - a soy-based strong Gyokai pork soup with black garlic oil, pork spare ribs, bean sprouts, seaweed sheets, mushrooms, eggs and noodles. This was massively filling. The spare ribs were really heavy and it was difficult to finish. Perfect if you're famished and quite fatty, so insulating. The Miso based pork and chicken soup with an extra spice bomb, pork belly, baby pak choi, bamboo shoots, shallots, egg and noodles and the soy-based chicken ramen soup were both a lot lighter, cheaper and more than enough. All very tasty. On the side we had Musashi, two skewers of Japanese vegetable and seafood pancake with mayonnaise, powdered seaweed, bonito flakes and Japanese BBQ sauce;
pork gyoza in chicken wing with teriyaki and mayo sauce and karaage chicken. These were great and also very reasonably priced. For dessert the kids had peach sorbet and a chilled green tea cream mocha ball. Everything was outstanding and the presentation careful and creative. Recommended.

My favorite ramen in Sydney! I love number 7 (which on the receipt is hilariously called 'Long Name' because it has a very long Japanese name). The broth is so, so tasty - it's a mix of pork and chicken for the broth. Straight up tonkotsu ramen can sometimes be too intense for my liking, so this is perfect for me.

It's not hard to see why the ramen at Manpuku is so renowned - it's perfectly balanced, tasty, yet restrained enough to keep you going back for more. Ramen is the go-to menu item here. This place has a variety of broths available for the ramen they serve. I ordered the #2. Sho Gara & #7. Shiawase Rame, where they both had completely different broth. The Sho Gara ramen was more clear and lighter in taste, whereas the Shiawase ramen had a thicker broth, which is packed full of flavours.  I also ordered a side of kaarage chicken, but it was a bit overcooked that day. I also got their wing gyoza, which I enjoyed thoroughly but preferred a little less sauce. I also got a few dessert, favourite definitely being the green tea mochi!
My overall experience here was great, the service was quick, staff were friendly and the food was delicious too. Plus, students get free extra noodles if you flash your student ID card!!

I find ramen to be over-rated. That's why I was highly dubious when a friend strongly urged me to visit this place. I took the lady, because I like to treat her to a cheap feed every now and then.

My friend who recommended Manpuku is of Korean heritage and in my slightly racist mind, I thought "well, she's Korean, she must know something about this stuff". Noodle soup, I mean, not Japanese food. As it turns out, there is a history between the two countries (spoiler alert: it's not wonderful).

Back to date night with the lady, and the annoying twist with this place is that she was allergic to pretty much everything on the menu. Especially the ramen, which is made with the same pork bone broth. So she ordered the karaage curry, while I sheepishly ordered the pork ramen.

Oh man. Amazing.

I must start with the afore-mentioned broth. This is like nothing I've ever had. It is perfectly balanced. Tasty, salty, thick, deep, everything you want, and everything you never knew could simultaneously exist. I really cannot stress enough how good this soup is.

The rest of the dish was equally as good, but wasn't as surprising. If only the lady weren't allergic to pork like some sort of wannabe ethnoreligious member, I'm sure she would agree. Her curry was pretty damn good, and she seemed happy, in that "I'm happy because you're happy" way.

We also ordered chili edamame beans. Still not as good as the broth.

I'm told that my order wasn't too adventurous, and next time I must add some other stuff to my bowl. I don't see why I'd need to, as it was almost perfection.

Have I mentioned the broth? Unless you are particularly devout in your worship of middle eastern deities, please accept that this dish is heaven.

Good ramen is hard to find and the Kingsford/Kensington area is blessed to have one of the best ramen joints in Sydney. Manpuku offers a variety of ramen from clean-tasting chicken based broths to the heavier tonkotsu. Summertime calls for a light stock so we've opted for gara shoyu which is soy chicken. The best thing about Manpuku is the availability of half sizes such as the one we've gotten, which you can then make up for with ordering additional veggie sides. Who said ramen can't be healthy!

I’ve visited a few times. It’s a place that was recommended based on the quality of the ramen and I have tried the dish a few times (both chicken and pork soup base) as well as the curry with rice and also the chicken katsu curry. The restaurant setting is bright and airy and it’s usually quite busy.

I wasn’t too sure about the Gara Shoyu ramen (soy-based chicken soup) but I know it’s meant to be in the authentic Japanese style. Personally I found the broth to be salty but I could definitely appreciate that the noodles were very light and yet firm. The Magician’s Red was definitely on the spicy side. I found the curry dish to be good, it was in the typical Japanese style which isn’t too heavy or spicy but is still extremely flavoursome.

Service has always been polite and friendly and there’s always a greeting upon entry and a thank you upon exit. More recently, though, I have found the service to be a little variable as some of the staff don't appear to be that friendly.

Even though it's sweltering hot in Sydney right now, that alone won't deter me from getting my hands on a delicious bowl of ramen. I remember when Manpuku first opened up shop in May last year and what a joyous and momentous occasion it was for university students studying at nearby UNSW. To be able to have a steaming hot bowl of authentic ramen during those breaks between lectures and/or tutorials/lab was unheard of so it's not surprising for this restaurant to be bustling with university students on weekdays.

After an awesome and friendly ramen meal? Look no further! Manpuku has in my opinion the best ramen for price in Sydney.

Always loving presented the ramens are distinct and full of flavour. I always opt for the classic miso ramen and add an extra egg.

The side dishes are also wonderfully tasty and fantastic value. We will definitely continue to get a ramen fix from Manpuku.

This is one of my favourite haunts in Kingsford, it's perfect for that quick after-work meal, especially on those cold, rainy days- or really, whenever that ramen craving hits.
I always go for my staple 'Kono Deaini' which never fails to please- along with a few sides like the kaarage chicken, or takoyaki balls. The star, however, is the generous self-serve offering of spicy pickled vegetables to accompany your noodles, which gives it a little extra kick.
The service is definitely something that will keep you coming back- the team never fails to greet and send off every customer with the same volume and enthusiasm no matter how busy they get.
On this particular night, a new server was on and accidentally dropped all her bowls on the way back to the kitchen. Instead of causing a fuss, the whole team broke out into applause and welcomed the chaos with laughter before all hands were on deck to help clean up, much to the delight of onlooking patrons. You really feel a sense of cohesion within the team that makes this place a winning establishment.

This place is always buzzing with people but I'd say the turnover is pretty quick.. Ordered the Manpuku MK ll, it was strong soy based Gyokai soup with black garlic oil and served with tender and flavourful pork spare ribs. Soup was full of umami taste and creamy. I love their housemade noodle texture as it was quite firm and just perfect to go with the other ingredients.
Tsukemen had soy based tonkotsu soup, it's thicker and creamier compared to the ramen broth but I found it very salty towards the end. They used the same noodle for tsukemen as they do with their ramen.

Oh the ramen here are so good! It's probably the reason why I started loving ramen.. Although it is self service, the staff there are actually really friendly and helpful. One of the staff even started a magic show to entertain the customers as they wait for their food!

I've ordered Manpuku red three times now. And I'll definitely come back for more. The atmosphere is lovely and it is a very reasonable price! The texture of the ramen is pretty on point - almost on par with the ramen I had in Japan. It had the firmness and springyness you desire in noodles. I can tolerate quite spicy food and this was perfect! It was spicy enough to get my sniffly but not too hot that it overpowered the other flavours in this bowl of goodness.

However I'm disappointed by how they removed the egg from the ramen (picture was taken earlier on this year). I get that price increase is bound to happen but I believe they should offer the egg for 50c when purchasing ramen. Eggs in my opinion complete the bowl of ramen and without it, it just feels unfinished to me (as you can tell by my side of eggs). Anyone feel the same way?

Love the ramen here! The noodles are great no matter which type and are never overcooked. But the soup bases are what you come here for - creamy and intense flavour. Can leave you a bit thirsty after a while but a couple of sips of water and you're ready again. Service is excellent - dishes are brought out in a reasonable time and staff ate very friendly. Have recommended to a lot of my friends.

Unlike in the city, ramen restaurants are pretty rare in the Eastern Suburb. Manpuku Sydney is a small restaurant in Kingsford that sells ramen, almost exclusively! You can also get a small bowl of rice but it’s hardly a main course and more like an add-on if you are still hungry or need to finish the soup.

Double impact or shinku-hado buta are the two ramen you should be aiming for when eating at Manpuku Sydney!

Ramen good - a favourite in Sydney . But the level of incompetence by the person that took my order is ridiculous.

Ordered wavy hard noodles with an extra serving. (Not difficult right??) apparently it was.

Confirmed my ordered TWICE

Got my ramen (without hard wavy noodles) also neglected my extra serving.

Asked whether the noddles were hard wavy... He said it was..

Argued with me. Asked for my extra serving.

Laughed when he walked away.

When I received it the noodles looked completely different. (Obviously not the same noodles).

I brought this to his attention he offered to replace because obviously he was incompetent.

He took my extra eggs (paid extra) from original bowl and did not have them replaced.

Incredible carelessness and no attention to detail.

I usually enjoy my meals here and comment how great the staff is. This guy really dropped the ball. Guy with glasses.

If you like spicy, try their manpuku red extreme.. This is the spiciest ramen I ever tasted in Sydney. The tonkotsu broth is thick but not as thick as gumshara which is good. Ramen noodle is long, straight and thin. My favourite Ramen-ya so far... in Sydney

Despite the heavy rain on the day, I was surprised to see that this did not deter their hungry patrons from making the trek to gather in the small premises.... and after my first taste I can see why. The service is friendly and polite, reflecting truly on their culture. You order your meal at the counter, pay first and the food will be brought to you. While I waited for my food, Joko was busy entertaining some friends with magic tricks that were quite amazing. He also had a quick chat to me about my camera gear as I waited for my food. I ordered a bowl of Manpuku Red... where red signifies its hot hot hot... to which I give a thumbs up to for the chilli intensity level. The pork was tender with a nice proportion of meat to fat and the egg was cooked to perfection. The amount of noodles was just enough for me but I can imagine for some hungrier customers, the portion might be on the smaller side. The cost was $13.90 at the time and the quality was worth every cent. I really can't fault this place. It's definitely on par or even better than some of the city ramen attempts. Judging purely from my bowl of Manpuku Red and the amount of customers, I'd definitely recommend journeying out here for a sample...

Ramen at Manpuku! Sorry this post has been sitting in my drafts for a month now. I had meant to go back and find out the names of the dishes for this post, but I’m dragging my feet on this (also I’ve been back to Manpuku twice and not bothered to write down the names..) So here are some unnamed dishes from Manpuku ramen!

This joint has more modern decor, order at the counter than eat system and a nice selection of complimentary condiments. I wanted a light option on this day so I ordered the Gara Shoyu, and it was delicious!...But the REAL deal here is there chicken wing gyoza.

In my opinion, this is one of the better places for ramen in Sydney. The noodles were a nice texture - not too soft and mushy and not too hard. It had a good "bite" to it. Also, would you look at that beautiful half-boiled egg? If that doesn't tempt you, I don't know what will! I came here for lunch and ordered the item with the longest name on the menu (the name was so long, I thought it was a list of ingredients!) Here it comes - my order was: "Kono Deaini Kanshashite Aijou to Jonetsu Komete Isshoukenmei Tsukutta Uchirano Icchan Sukina Manpuku Shiawase Ramen" or simply "soy based pork soup". Mouthful isn't it? It came with two slices of pork belly, half a half boiled egg, some bamboo shoots and bean sprouts. The seaweed featured the name of the restaurant, which added such a fun touch to the ramen. Don't worry! Apparently it is written in calcium and perfectly safe to eat! Verdict  Quite delicious, the noodles, like I said had a great bite to it. The soup? Very flavourful. Although,

Soy based pork soup is a mainstay dish of ramen. The soup wasn’t as thick as that of Gumshara, but it was arguably a better amount of thickness, as something too dense gets heavy quickly. The ramen noodles were very nice, and were not too eggy in flavour. There was a combination of other extras actually integrated into the bowl, which included seaweed salad, mushroom and cabbage; in this way, it appeared a bit more plentiful than, say, Ippudo, and some may argue that it reduces the authenticity of the Japanese flavour. However, the mushroom, in particular, was a welcome addition, as it was a perfect, earthy flavour that went well with the pork soup base. There were two slices of meat, which was very generous for a bowl of ramen.

Manpuku is small joint located on the busy strip of Anzac Parade among all the Chinese, Malaysian and Indonesian restaurants. I've been here twice before during peak hours and it was filled with uni students. I found myself waiting about 5-10 minutes for a table. Like most Japanese restaurants, you're greeted with a bubbly staff upon entry which seems to resonate throughout the whole store. From the wooden menu panels and the noren to the calligraphy artwork on the walls, it feels like you've just stepped into Japan. Manpuku specialises in Japanese ramen with a small range of flavours on offer - from variations of soy based tonkotsu broths to chicken and miso based broths. There are also sides and small rice dishes you can also order but we're here today for the ramen experience. When you approach the counter to order, you'll see trays of rolled up fresh-looking noodles ready to be cooked in the hot water. Yay - thumbs up for Manpuku. If you're having trouble deciding which ramen to ge

Enter Manpuku, the latest addition to Sydney’s tonkotsu ramen regime situated in Kingsford, one of the major food hubs in the Eastern Suburbs. An outside contender that, in my mind, serves a very respectable tonkotsu ramen, rivaling many of their big city brethren. Manpuku is abuzz with energy as you enter their modest sized restaurant (though regular by local standards). A youthful vigour, from the welcoming herald of irashaimasen  by the greeters at the door that reverberates like a wave throughout the restaurant, to the ritual the chefs perform in the kitchen, cha

MANPUKU BLACK. If you're lucky enough to dine here whilst Joko is working, he may show you some of his great magic tricks! Joko aside, the Ramen is fantastic. The broth is always so full of flavour and has so much depth. Its pretty clear that they make their noodles fresh daily in house, always impecible. Manpuku has a great traditional cozy feel to it, you'll always feel welcome. All of the dishes are very reasonably priced, you will not be disappointed. My 2 favourites are Manpuku Black and Manpuku Red.

Heavyweight soup full of flavoursome punches!!. IF you strip away all the ramen components, the noodle, the meat (cha-shu), the seaweed (nori) and other garnishes, you will find that the soup is the only component giving everything else flavour and overall depth.

No wonder ramen experts/enthusiasts call ramen soup as "the soul of the bowl". And Manpuku offers such a impact and flavoursome soup that punches right into my taste buds and my soul!!!

Now to mention the variety of Manpuku's soups!! Manpuku offers probably the most variety of soups of all Sydney ramen restaurants, just to name a few: shoyu, shio, miso, garlic, negi (shallots), sesame and the list goes on!!

Putting together a soulful soup base with nicely prep'ed chashu, bamboo shoots, nori (seaweed) and other garnishes, you will have a ramen that is full of impacts and scores high in the "I'll-come-back" factor!

I only now sincerely wish that Manpuku will continue forward in the pursuit of excellence and creativity, and don't settle for status-quo, just like other iconic Sydney ramen giants have showed us :)!

Favorite ramen in Eastern Suburbs. Best ramen I've had so far in the Eastern Suburbs. (Tried other ramen places at Bondi etc...) The soup is well flavoured, noodles are done perfectly. It is not over cooked, just the way I like it.

If you like your ramen on the al dente side, this is perfect. My favorite is the #7.

I was in a ramen craze this past month because of this place. Tried gumshara, menya, ippudo but still decided that this place has the most balanced ramen. Soup not excessively thick but still has excellent flavor, noodles tangy but not too hard, meat not too fat. Coupled with excellent service, this is definitely worth a try. After eating here everyday for every meal for the past week, and trying every single item, I recommend menu item 5 and 7 if you're here for the first time.

Nice ramen shop. Knowing that it is a newly opened ramen restaurant in this area, we went there at 11.50am (10 mins before it opens) and were able to witness the "staff meeting" where the employees cheered on each other which was interesting.
The menu selection is not great, but I guess it makes sense for a small restaurant. The ramen stock has intense pork flavor and the ramen is pretty good. Not sure if its worth $13-$15.
