Seafood while gazing out towards the Sydney Harbour Bridge at sunset isn’t a bad way to spend and evening. If you get there early enough to snag a table on the balcony it’s even better. The views there are lovely on a Spring, Summer or Autumn evening. We’d already studied the menu. There were plenty of choices available but with the views and the sunset we knew it was seafood. They do a very popular hot and cold seafood platter for one here so we ordered two of them and settled in.
What an impressive place this is. You can enjoy a first class meal in pleasant and comfortable surroundings, sitting outdoors on the heated balcony, while taking in spectacular views of Syd Harbour in all its glory.
It’s not cheap, as you will see, if you check the menu online, so it’s best to become a member first ($10 for one year) and that will assure you of a two-for-one meal deal for at least four months of the year, plus a free drink, as your once-off joining reward.
Four of us dined here on a chilly Sunday eve in May. We choose to sit outside under the heaters, to maximise the views. That seemed to work fine for awhile until the wind changed direction and it became a tad too chilly to be comfortable. Of course you can always sit inside and enjoy the views from there too. There’s no bookings permitted for small groups and no bookings at all for the balcony, so it’s first come, first served and just bear in mind that this is a popular place, so best to get here early. We arrived just before 7pm and were lucky to get the table we did, on the balcony.
We first ordered a couple of drinks from the Sports Bar, then went up to the counter to choose our meals. The drill here is that you order and pay at the counter, take a number, plonk it on your table, and your meals will be brought out soon enough by a friendly and polite waiter or waitress. It all seems to work quite seamlessly, despite the crowds, and on the night we dined, it was pretty full.
I ordered the eye fillet steak ($37), with mash, mushroom, glazed carrots and something called horseradish butter. My wife and our two dining companions all choose the hot and cold seafood platter ($46), which comprises oysters, king prawns, garlic prawns, salmon, beer battered fish of the day, squid and fries. That’s a fish-lovers delight, fresh and tasty, and they all enjoyed it. My steak was well cooked just the way I like it, but still tender and full of flavour and nicely complemented with creamy mash and glazed carrots and mushrooms. Altogether, four outstanding meals and since, as members, we only paid for two of them, excellent value as well.
I was surprised at how quickly our meals came out; about 15 minutes from the time we placed our orders.
This was despite the fact that it was pretty full.
The ambience is busy, energetic and lively, with plenty of people around, but despite that, it wasn’t overly loud or rowdy, perhaps on account of the diners being mainly of the more mature variety. There didn’t seem to be too many young people: They obviously don’t know what they’re missing.
There’s paid parking in the club’s car park, but also easy and free street parking nearby. We got a spot in Walker Street, a short, five minute walk from the club.
Now that we’re members, we’ll definitely be back.
Kirribilli Club has an amazing view! Had lunch here on a Sunday and I must say for “RSL” style the food was delicious! I had the Atlantic salmon without the noodles and it was amazing, the sauce with it was divine! The crew I was with ordered various dishes and they all said their dishes were amazing too from the chicken to the chicken schnitzel to the souvlaki. Very nice! The only down side is the parking situation. I paid $5.50 per hour on the street. But I guess you are paying for premium location and views of Sydney Harbour Bridge. Would visit again for a casual lunch.

Up from Melbourne. Lunch with mum, where I thought. Kirrabilli RSL club came into my mind. Haven't been there since the 80's. Rang and spoke to Helen from the Watergrill restaurant. Have a wheelchair bound 91 mum. No problem, arrived, shown table on terrace with amazing view of Lavender bay and bridge/city. Excellent attention by staff. Food menu extensive and our meals were great. See photos
Come here especially during the winter months since they have some really great specials! The oysters are probably the best I've ever had at a restaurant. The service isn't particularly good, but generally you get what you need. Views are spectacular and are breathtaking when seated near the window!
Amazing view overlooking Sydney Harbour, and a delightful array of foods to match. I have had some of the nicest oysters I've had in 2010 served as my Entree today, followed by a spectacular chicken leg, stuffed with feta cheese. Great taste, great presentation, and fine selection of beers.....thanks!!!
